We have used Illinois Energy on two occasions, replacing about 10 windows on our house the first time, and the remaining 30 on the second occasion. In both instances, we were very happy with the service every step of the way. The initial appointment was very informative and very straight-forward. The prices offered were very competitive with other quotes we received, but the quality of the Illinois Energy windows (and the lifetime warranty) helped finalize our decision. The construction crews for both jobs were very helpful and efficient. I work remotely from home and they had no issue working with my schedule to avoid interrupting important meetings. They were able to work very independently (which allowed me to continue my work) and made sure to ask questions when necessary for confirmation of window directionality, as well as asking for permission to move certain items to ensure they were not in the way. They were both very professional in their interactions with myself and my wife and were very pleasant throughout the process. The second construction crew did an amazingly efficient job, as they were able to complete nearly 30 windows in a days time (previously quoted at 3 days). Despite the fast time, the quality is the same excellence as our first set of windows. We would highly recommend contacting Illinois Energy for your window needs!

I ordered both my front and back doors from Illinois Energy. I was more than impressed and people ALWAYS comment on the appearance. We since have ordered 9 windows, and again were impressed. They also held our prices from our first order. In 2014 we paid 2012 prices. Our salesman was far superior to other companies near our house. One of those companies... you get what you pay for.

Very pleased with overall service. As stated in previous reviews this company does cost more than others that we received estimates from. The difference being we were willing to pay for the quality and the lifetime transferrable warranty to us was well worth it. The installation team came out, went about their business with great efficiency. They were very friendly, very professional, and took care of business without any hassle. They were done with the windows and installation of the sliding glass door in 2 days with a 2 man team.

The entire process was positive. We scheduled and appointment for them to come to our home to show us what type of windows they had and the cost. The only negative about the presentation was that is was a little long. They showed us samples of the windows and also went over the warranty. The price was within my budget. The were were ready sooner that quoted. The installers arrived on time and were very polite. They cleaned up when finished. For the second install they did need to reschedule due to rain.
Description of Work: Replaced sliding patio door. Replaced 6 double hung windows on the second floor. Also replaced second floor picture window in the foyer. On a second visit, replaced 3 double hung and 1 sliding window on the first floor.

We were looking for replacing 15 windows of the house. This is one of the company we called for estimate since our next door neighbor used their window and feels happy about the quality. Their price is ridiculously high comparing with every other estimates. Wood grain vinyl will cost me over $32K. Similar windows from other company runs from 11k to 16k. That's how much more they charge for their windows. For example, if you want the interior wood frame stained, they charge 6K v.s. 2K asked by others. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY.

Response from Illinois Energy Windows & Siding Inc
Mrs. w., Thank you for your feedback to the public, my response is as follows: (YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!) For any prospective Illinois wenergy customers I ask that you look further into other reviews. The common trend for those who are actually customers of ours is that we may be expensive, but we are worth it. I believe you can only truly judge a product or service unless you have used it! However, we now live in a world where anyone at anytime can go and type their every thought on any website. Whether it is true or not. Our company has over 20 years experience in the industry and literally thousands of satisfied customers. Our company comes to the market place explaining that there are companies that can be half of our price but they are half the quality, and no where near the warranty. Which by the way my warranty is 100% parts and labor for the existence of the home! During estimate process we explain the difference between our products and services, and what those type of less expensive companies are committed too. There is nothing wrong with a company that is half my price. They just have a different business model. (Ask to read the fine print of the "lifetime guarantee"). Typically those companies have very limited warranties in the fine print, and 1 year labor guarantees. This type of company that you compare me to are often not much of a company as well. Many times they are contractors out of the back of a pick up truck. If you are looking to save a lot of money and move, that may be the right choice. However, for anyone who has a real expectation of quality or service than you can't afford anything but our type of quality. I have seen many homeowners get fooled over the years trying to convince themselves that something that is half my price is actually a similar product as you had referenced. The truth is every part and piece of my product cost a lot more to produce than someone who is selling a product for half the price. We have superior thermal pain systems. We have thicker frames and sashes and our warranties are unmatched. You literally can not tell me any competitor that has a longer warranty than my company. I am sorry that you felt it necessary to go on line and try to make my company look bad. We have been in this industry 22 years. We employ 125 people. We also have thousands of satisfied customers that have paid our price including your next door neighbor. Which by the way, they were very happy. I am sure you can imagine many of our other customers have had other estimates, but still chose our company. There are reasons why. WE ARE WORTH IT. If you really think someone is going to give you the same products and warranties for 1/2 or a third of the price than I believe you will be making a mistake. Over 1/3 of my business comes from folks like yourself who have replaced windows 3-10 years prior. These people either didn't know about products and services like mine, or thought they could get the same quality for a lot less. Almost all the time this is not true. Again you get what you pay for! Mrs. W. remember, high quality services and warranties cost more money. (removed member name) you shared your harsh opinion about my company saying. " Don't waste your time or money with this company". My humble response is I don't believe it is fair to go online and say such things about a company that is a legitimate business. A company that has a overall very good reputation online, and with our customers. If you couldn't afford, or chose not to afford my quality my opinion is it not fair to make us wrong publicly. Good luck and again we appreciate the opportunity you had given us. Sincerely, Brian Campbell Co-Owner Illinois Energy Windows & Siding Inc.

We have completed the replacement of our 29 windows and door this year. Illinois Energy has been excellent to work with during this 4 year project. They explained the process in detail, double checked sizes before ordering, and met their proposed deadlines. From sales to installation has always gone smoothly. Installers are very careful to keep the area clean and prevent any damage. They do a super job of cleaning up and making sure everything meets your approval before they leave. We have been very pleased with our new windows. They are more efficient, easy to clean and keep the street noise out. Illinois Energy was very willing to work with us to complete the installation within our time frame over the 4 years.

We recently had 10 windows on the ground floor in the back of our house replaced by Illinois Energy. The whole process started with a college student knocking on our door, asking if we were interested in a quote for new windows. We had been talking about replacing windows and just hadn't gotten around to it yet. The sales person who subsequently came to our house was very knowledgeable and professional. The meeting was educational for us and we decided to start on the back of the house. We were told it would be 6 - 8 weeks before the windows came in, but it was actually about 4 - 5 weeks. The two men who installed the windows were equally professional and did an excellent job on the installation. We were told it would probably be a one and a half day installation, but they were able to get it done in just one day. The windows look great and we already notice a difference. They're of much better quality vs. our original windows and also keep it much quieter inside. We'll definitely use Illinois Energy when we look to replace additional windows in our home.

Our neighbor referred us so we figured they had to be good if they'd used them before. The rep came to our house to show us their products and give us an estimate. Once we had reviewed all the products, selected which door we were interested in, and received a quote, we explained that we would think about it and let him know. At that point, he became very pushy and would not take and quot;noand quot; for an answer. We told him we wanted to think about it since it would be a very expensive purchase and he didn't seem to care. He started to pin my husband and I against each other. At one point he told my husband, and quot;you let her make all the decisionsand quot; since he could see my apprehension. After about 1 hour of going back and forth, he said he would give us a and quot;dealand quot; if we bought today. We did and are very happy with our doors, however, I will not use them again. I do believe we overpaid for our door by about 2K. Hindsight is always 20/20 A few months ago I called to get a quote on windows - knowing full well my husband would not be home when they came. They told me when I called to schedule the estimate that they would come when we were both home so I said we would be (even though that was not the case). When the gentleman arrived (same as before), it was the same story all over again. However, this time I told him thank you and good bye. I will call you if we are interested. Their quote was 3K more than the other 6 companies I spoke with. That is how this company works, they will pin you against each other to try and make the sale.

Illinois Energy told us they do not use subcontractors, they clearly did and lied to me when I asked them about it. After several talks with the owner he finally told me they were very busy so they needed to subcontract. When we signed the contract I made sure to ask if they would replace all bad wood, they said of course they would. They covered up bad wood with the fascia, it was so bad I could clearly see the gutter was not level. Didn't even need a level to tell it wasn't level. It was difficult to get someone to come out and look at the problem. The owner assured me they would never cover up bad wood, when we removed the fascia the wood underneath was so bad you could poke your finger through it. For all my trouble they gave $100 off the bill, thanks. I clearly do NOT recommend using Illinois Energy for anything.

They continually pushed off our installation, not telling us what the issue was (the windows hadn't arrived from the factory). They did a shoddy job on the installation, including not caulking anything that could not be seen from the ground. They did not properly support our new bay window. Whenever we called to ask about having these things fixed, they and quot;took a messageand quot; and ignored us. After several months of this, they finally sent someone over to fix the caulking who got surley with us, because my husband had caulked a few windows that were leaking. | |STAY AWAY!!!

Called this company to obtain an estimate on the replacement of a double door at the rear of my garage. This was after a flyer promoting the company was left at my doorstep. The flyer showed installations of various exterior home improvement products at homes of varying values, ie: Habitat for Humanity projects to presumably million dollar homes. At the time of my initial contact, the receptionist had difficulty comprehending what a double door was. That probably should have caused me some concern right then. Eventually we got to the point where an appointment for an estimate was made (5) days later. About (2) hours before the estimator was to arrive, I received a phone call from him to confirm the appointment. The estimator was not quite sure what the scope of the project was, so I offered to shoot a few photos of the existing door and send them to him so he had a better understanding. Within two minutes of sending the photos, the estimator called back. He stated he talked to his boss. I was informed that Illinois Energy was a and quot;high-endand quot; company and that I would be better off to go to someplace like Lowe's. Never once was it discussed what type of door I planned to replace the existing door with. I was completely blown away by this company's arrogance. My home is located in a well maintained subdivision with home prices ranging from $300-$500k. I didn't think my home and the location would be so beneath a company located in Lombard, IL that I should deserve such treatment. This company should discontinue passing their flyers out in this subdivision if we aren't even worthy of their consideration. I would NEVER contact this company again and would encourage others not to also!

Called for an estimate to re- side the house. Salesman cam out for the presentation, did a thorough job, and scribbled some numbers on an orange sheet of paper. Then the sales pitch started. and quot;I only need $X now, and we can get you scheduledand quot;. Told him that he was our first estimate and that I was planning to get more bids. So he asked what it would take to get us to sign right there. I said that wasn't happening, and we'd be getting other bids. So he left, leaving no bid form or anything behind. 2 days later, I got a call from his office from someone in scheduling, calling to set up our install. Really?! I called the salesman back a week later, because we decided to add new gutters to the bid, and wanted a revised estimate (was still waiting for the original!). He came out on a Saturday, I explained what I wanted, and he again scribbled on the orange sheet, and wrote down a number. Again with and quot;I only need this much down, and we can get you scheduledand quot;. I said I just wanted an estimate, and he got somewhat indignant, stating that I had called him out there, and he assumed that I wanted to get this done. Like I'd buy something without ever seeing a price! He got up and walked out, and I let him go. Went with another contractor who I'd used before for window installation. Have to say, Illinois Energy's bid was about 50% higher than the final bid I went with for a comparable siding. All in all, the experience with Illinois Energy felt very much like buying a used car. Would not consider them for any work in the future, and would not recommend them to any friends.

The Salesman showed up on time and gave us a 2.5 hr. sales pitch. He told us that we could be an and quot;Advertising house and quot;and get a great deal if we acted now. While the meeting started out fine, but once he gave us the price and we would't sign right then, the high pressure tactics started. He kept asking us what we were so afraid of , and why couldn't we trust him. I kept explaining that he was our first estimate and we would under no circumstances be signing anything t hat day. He tried showing us fake invoices from Home Depot, Sears, etc. he kept leaving to call his boss, and we began to feel very uncomfortable. In the end, he didn't even give us a true estimate. He wrote out a number on just a yellow sheet of paper. No description of work to be done, no letter head, nothing. He knew we would never call once we got other estimates. He was way out of line-over twice the cost of everywhere else . My husband had been taking notes on everything he said and he had even quoted us the wrong number of windows for our house. He had kept asking us in the beginning of our meeting if we had heard about them on Angies List. Now I know why.

They were very meticulous in their measurements. They worked constantly and didn't take lots of breaks. Last year, I had my grill too close to deciding and it kind of melted part of the siding. I called them up and told them I'm willing to pay for this, how much do you want to charge for this? They said we'll cover it for free.

I spent $13,750 on the job. Their workmanship was good, but I did not like their sales tactics at all. They were very pushy. I do not think I would use them again because of them being pushy and because there were some issues with the contract. They did not keep their word. I felt they were not very honest.

The salesperson was punctual but did not remove shoes or cover them with plastic as done by most other company representatives. The presentation was polished and impressive. Then came the crucial part of price. After much tapping on a calculator, the salesperson wrote $54,000 at the top of a blank page in numbers large enough for us to see. A little more tapping on the calculator and the number $36,000, our price, was written near the bottom of the page. The salesperson tried VERY HARD to pressure us into buying at that time. For some reason calling us "afraid" to commit was supposed to convince us. The $36,000 proved to be a minimum of 50% higher than three other estimates we received. On a telephone call back two weeks later, the salesperson became huffy when told we went with another company and began another sales pitch criticizing other companies and windows. The phone conversation had to be cut short by me. The sales pressure and game playing with the $54,000 number marked down to $36,000 and the price being still 50% higher than Pella, Marvin, or Anderson windows was just plain suspicious. There is no way we would have them do any work!!

From Tom, the capable and engaging sales guy to the incredibly polite and thoughtful installers to the responsive home office people, Illinois Energy was a real pleasure to do business with. We actually did the windows first, last year and had them come back and do the doors just recently because we were so impressed with our window experience. This company is a great combination of excellent service and extremely high quality product. We have referred several of our friends to Illinois Energy and they were all very pleased with the work.
