Response from Illinois Energy Windows & Siding Inc
[Member Name Removed], My name is Brian Campbell. I am the owner of Illinois Energy. Thank you for sharing your opinion. However I strongly disagree with your view point and your accusation of being over charged. I have personally looked into what you have paid for your windows and you were not over charged! When we give sales presentations in home we educate every customer on what is available to them as a consumer. We let them know the differences in quality of windows, installation, and warranties available from our company vs. legitimate competitors. We also then explain the variations in price between our companies and legitimate competitors price. Bottom line is those prices range from $500- $3,000 per window. This is not just our Subjective opinion. We show people published articles of the ranges of these window prices. After we complete our presentations people choose to work with us or not. You chose to work with us even though we explained our products can be more. Not fair to say you were over charged. I also want to point out a couple major facts that are personal to your job. A) You referenced getting 3 windows for $6,000. One of your windows is called a 3 Part Slider. It is a large window and is basically equivalent 2 windows. So that would put you basically at 4 windows. (Costs More) B) Also your house that was built in the 1950's, had what are called steel pan frames. In order to replace your windows we had to tear out existing steel frames. Re frame the openings with wood, and install new interior casing. (Costs More) C) When tearing out steel frames the drywall or plaster often cracks and we are required to skim coat your walls around the perimeter of windows to fix any possible drywall or plaster cracks. This was also done. (Costs More) D) Your home being built in the 1950's also required us to follow Lead Safe Work Practices on your home which is mandated by the EPA since April of 2010. (Costs More) E) We have high quality windows, best installations, and longest warranties in the industry. (Costs More) All of the above listed items were why you paid what you did for your products. Again not because you were over charged as you had stated. I have done this a long time and have sold literally over 20,000 installations over the years. This isn't the first time I have had someone think they over paid. In my experience this type of doubt is typically created by sharing how much you paid to a friend, family or neighbor. Trust me they almost always say they have a guy and you paid too much. I have 3 people in my family that do the same thing every time I buy something. They tell me how much cheaper they could have gotten it for, and that I overpaid. Its funny how much everyone is an expert on things that they don't always know a lot about. I purchased a Cadillac and had a family member tell me I over paid. They said they could have gotten a similar car through Kia for the same price. I know this is not true. I don't believe there is anything wrong with a Kia. It's just that I believe the Cadillac has better performance, is a higher quality car that costs more, and it should cost more! I wouldn't second guess my decision based upon what anyone else tells me. I also recommend when purchasing quality or comparing prices to look close at the quality of the products and the fine print of warranties to truly make an educated decision of the value of something like a window project. We have a window that would be compared to the Cadillac but is doesn't mean you over paid. You simply bought a high quality product that cost more. Which we educated you on by the way! I hope you choose to see the value in what you purchased. You have a true lifetime guarantee. I am sure if and when you need some type of service on the windows you had purchased you may feel differently. That's right: if anything should go wrong with your windows, even 10-12-15 years from now any service or parts required is free. I don't know of any other window company that offers a warranty like ours. So please stop trashing us online. We haven't done anything wrong or over charged you as you stated! Thank you for your time and your business. Brian Campbell Co-Owner
