Jiminy Chimney

His recommendation was to replace the chimney burner and patch from the inside in order to have a good air flow.

We were purchasing a tune up and cleaning of our 16 year gas fireplace from this company. Scheduling was all taken care of back and fourth, very prompt. 24 hours always catching up. The technician was named Rich, he called a half hour before he arrived. He changed his shoes to not dirty our house. He took a look at our chimney and asked us if we ever use it because of how clean it was. He informed us that we really didn't need any cleaning or tune up. I commend them for their honestly and prompt service. I was def recommend them.

Jiminy Chimney was more than accommodating. After buying a house without full chimney inspections, and then finding out both the gas chimney and fireplace chimney were a mess, these guys helped me sort out all the different chimney sweep opinions and estimates I got. Too many of these chimney sweep companies try to take you for a ride, and they know you won't get up in the chimney to see what's really going on, nor would I even know the difference. This was an honest company that didn't try to oversell me and understood I could only do what needed to be done. I really felt I could trust them, and true to form, their estimates were honest - and didn't include all the extra stuff that wasn't necessary that two other companies gave me. Hence, we went with Jiminy. The owner even came out himself to inspect out gas chimney to make absolutely sure a new liner was needed, and then he beat the price of a competitive quote. The guys that did the work were on time, courteous, and professional. Although there's really no way for me to check the work, as I'm not a professional chimney sweep, I assume the work was done well as my furnace and hot water heater have been running and venting, and there have been no carbon monoxide detectors going off. Overall, a great experience. I would use them again.

The true mark of quality service is if a vendor has worked on your house, there is a problem, and that vendor responds immediately and corrects the problem. Jiminy Chimney installed a new liner and did tuck pointing on my chimney. I noticed I was getting leakage at the base of the chimney in the basement. I contacted Chad and he had Rich come out that day. He re-cualked everything, basement is bone dry! These guys are top notch! Five star. Highly recommend them.

Rich had some caulk with him so when I asked him to go ahead and repair it, he recaulked the area and never charged me a cent! I will definitely call Jiminy Chimney again if I need repair on my fireplace or chimney. Excellent service!

Company carefully installed stainless steel rain guards using a lift. Installers inspected chimney caps and applied caulk to seal cracks. They took special care to do their work safely and with high quality. Height of chimneys made the installation very difficult, but installers clearly knew how to perform their work properly. Very professionally done at a reasonable price.

I was happy with them. I had a family of raccoons in my back chimney. They actually came out twice. They first came out and looked on the chimney and said, "You have a family of raccoons in it." It's not my main chimney. I have a back chimney, just for the hot water. When they got the raccoons out on Friday, they came out on Saturday and did the actual service. It was great that they came out on a Saturday. The cost was on the high side because it was really blocked. But, I felt that it was worth it because of the amount of stuff that was in the chimney. They were honest with everything. They even recommended a guy for the raccoon control. They didn't have a clean-out. So they had to go through the water heater vent pipe. They opened that up and did that and they attached it perfectly. They cleaned up after themselves. They re-attached a chimney cap. They actually cemented this one in again. The previous people I had years ago didn't seal it correctly. They did that and I'm pleased with the work. If I have any other work in the future I would contact them.

I received several estimates on my chimney. It was in desperate need tuck pointing, flashing, and as it turned out also in need of a liner. All of the estimates were relatively close in price. I decided to go with Jiminy primarily because of their salesman/tech Rich. At the estimate he actually showed me what was missing and what needed to be done. Pleasant, professional, he sold the job. Not only did he sell the job he came out to do the job. That's an added plus. Very happy with the whole process. I highly recommend them.

It was great Joe came by and told me the logs were set up out of position causing logs to carbon up. Joe put logs into position and fire place was cleaned. New sand, gravel and embers were installed as well. I will def use this company again!

They determined that the main problem was that the chase (the exterior up and down the outside chimney) had never been insulated. They noted that this is not uncommon in many houses. Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive project. They gave me a rough idea of a typical cost and offered to do an estimate. I decided that this project was out of our reach and debatable whether it would be worth it, as I do not intend to live in this house the rest of my life. They also determined that the gas logs and interior of the fire box were in good shape and not in need of servicing. They were straight-forward, friendly and helpful. I would definitely call this company if I ever need work done on my fireplace.

They were honest, cleaned up after themselves and answered questions. We had questions about converting the gas fireplace over into wood fireplace. They were able to advise us and gave us a quote on price. We were actually able to do it ourselves.

They were very responsive, arrived within the window provided. Very professional, even commented on the good work done by a previous company that had to do some fire box repairs. Clean up was completed without any mess inside or outside.

Service guy (Joe) was very nice and professional. He called ahead of time to tell me when he was going to be there and once he was at my house he was informative and helpful. He could have charged us for a cleaning but he was honest and fair and said it wasn't needed. It's great when you find a business you can trust! Definitely will be calling them every year and for all our fireplace servicing needs!

Joe and his crew at Jiminy Chimney did everything they said they'd do and then some. We had a huge crack in our chimney that was getting worse all the time. Jiminy Chimney was super responsive and communicative - from the first time I called asking for an estimate right through to the end of the job. Got a written estimate with a great price. They followed up with an email recap of the estimate. We scheduled. They followed up with phone and email confirmation of the schedule. Our chimney looks great. They were great they provided us a window of arrival and were on time. They arrived to inspect the chimneys and we had the Angie's List discount applied. The Chimneys turned out to be clean and no work was needed. However they explained to us how the gas logs we had were old and brittle. They explained how ceramic logs retain heat and can help with heating the home. They were very informative and we ended us switching one fire place to a log burring unit. They changed this out for us for no charge since our chimneys were not in need of the cleaning we contracted for. Overall I'm very satisfied and feel very confident that we have the right company to now service our home moving forward. They were able to explain how to properly put in the gas logs and real wood. How to purchase the right wood and what to burn and what not to burn and why. We learned a lot it was well worth the service visit just on the knowledge transfer alone. We will be using them again and I would highly recommend them moving forward. Later this month we will also be calling them back to install a damper in the lower fireplace. They also sell logs and accessories and it was presented as an option they offer and that if we were interested to let them know. It was a no pressure,good, honest experience Great find and would highly recommend them.

Very responsive when called and said they would make this job a priority as it was an emergency call due to carbon monoxide leak. When they found out they could not get part to complete job on a Saturday, they suggested I try to find another service provider so I could have heat and hot water before Monday. I called several other chimney sweeps and one company said they could not schedule an appt for me until 3 weeks from now. Another company wanted to charge me $150 service call because it was the weekend. I waited for Jiminy Chimney to complete work on the Monday. Joe was prompt, courteous and explained everything. He did a great job and even took the time to inspect my fireplace chimney/valve/gas as home inspector said there was a gas leak and valve to fireplace didn't work. Joe looked at it and there were no gas leaks or valve problems. From now on, I will only use Jiminy Chimney for my chimney needs.

I haven't used my fireplace in several years but I wanted to have it looked at before I started. Keith came out and arrived early in the window they gave me. He said it was clean and needed nothing, so no charge! I am glad that there are still honest people around. Thank you!

As a former firefighter I realize the importance of maintaining a safe chimney. As a regular everyday consumer I realize the value of not wasting my money. During my annual chimney inspection, I was told that I needed quite a bit of work done to make our chimney safe to use. I got 5 different quotes from other "Angie's List A" companies with opinions ranging from "your chimney is fine, you don't need to do anything" to "you need a complete overhaul of the chimney, blah, blah, blah." Knowing that neither of these situations was the case and that something DID need to be done based on the pictures that I had seen after the inspection, Jiminy Chimney was the only company that offered a reasonable option for repairing our chimney that left me feeling good about the quality of the work that would be performed and at a reasonable price. Besides the company that did the original chimney inspection, Jiminy Chimney was the ONLY company that used their special camera that goes up the flue to accurately diagnose the issues with our chimney. In fact, one of the other companies that was providing me with a quote told me that he would have charge me if I wanted him to use his camera. This was one of the reasons that I felt very good about Jiminy Chimney...they weren't trying to nickel and dime me and they were accurately able to see for themselves what the actual issues were and provide a quote accordingly. Every other company EXCEPT Jiminy simply shined the flashlight from their iPhones up my chimney and guessed at what they thought the issue was. I am very glad that I chose to use Jiminy for the repairs. They took pictures of their work after it was completed and I feel confident that they didn't cut any corners. They were very professional and made sure to avoid making a mess. They took their shoes off every time they came in our house which to me shows their attention to detail. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to write a review for this company based on their great customer service and the quality work that they performed. It is obvious that this company and their employees are passionate and knowledgable about chimneys. I am sure that I will be able to safely use our chimney this winter and I didn't have to break my bank account to get it done. I will be calling this company for any chimney work that I need to have done in the future. I would highly recommend at least having this company come out and take a look and give you a quote for any issues that you might be having with your chimney. I hope that you are as satisfied as I was.

Rich was very pleasant and professional and took great care to be clean. After the general sweep was performed he ran the camera up the chimney and explained to me the trouble spots that were found inside. He addressed all my concerns regarding about what would need to be done as well cost and went as far as to suggest getting other providers to assess the chimney as to have cost comparisons made. I would most certainly recommend Jiminy Chimney and plan on calling on Rich and his company again for the repair work that needs to be performed on my chimney.

Just had my chimney/fireplace inspected by Joe. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with what he did and with how he did it. He totally knew what he was looking at, what was needed to fix the issues he saw, and very professionally handled all that was needed to be done.
