VJ Killian Co

I called this company twice for services and neither time did they ever call me back. Once was to replace a water heater and a faucet and the second time was to install central air conditioning in my home. I have heard good things about this company, but the two times I tried to hire them with they were a great disappointment. I am not going to beg them to do work for me. I used Olson Comfort Service for the air install. They were prompt, courteous and did a great job. I am happy to have wrote a check to them for $5k if Killian didn't want it.

They were good. I think they were fine. They were on time.

Went very well. Technician was able to re-wire units and get them working without ordering parts or 2nd visit. Needed about 2 hours. Solid technician with knowledgeable, professional demeanor. The units seemed to not be functioning this past week and Killian sent out a supervisor to investigate. All was well-no further charges. We highly recommend Killian.

Regular maintenance appointments need to be made far in advance because they are booked solid. I would prefer a shorter timeframe for the appointment... they give an all day window (8-5) and we are too busy to sit and wait. However, they will provide a courtesy call when they are on the way over. They do try to take care of emergency requests first so I try to be understanding on a scheduled maintenance day but I can not always accomodate such a long service window. And if you have an emergency, they are outstanding. We had a plumbing disaster last winter and we coulld not have asked for a better response and the employee sent to us deserved a huge thanks.... he worked 12 hours straight over the course of 2-3 days in 10-20 below weather. They also offer coupons for maintenance services.

Our phone call to VJ Killian was answered immediately and within minutes we had an appointment scheduled. When I later discovered that I had a conflict with the original time of the appointment, the scheduler was able without complaint to adjust the appointment to a time later in the day. The plumbing technician, John, showed up on time and I showed him a list of plumbing issues that we needed addressed. He efficiently addressed every one of those issues. He also took the time to clearly explain what he was doing with each repair. He further gave some welcomed advice as to how to keep our plumbing system in optimal condition. We have had no further problems with any of the items he repairs. We did learn, as others have reported, that VJ Killian no longer has a Libertyville site.

Too expensive, will not use them again.

Phoned in the AM, John from Killian arrived within an hour. Spoke with John over the phone-(we were leaving for work when the toilets/showers backed up)-he kept in touch throughout the job-completed it and sent us the bill in the mail. Arrived home, bathroom clean and job complete! Can't beat that!

I'm happy with the quality of the work and the price was competitive. They had a machine that drilled underground so damage to the yard was minimal when installing the underground pipe. Promptly replaced some rubber connectors that were rejected by the inspector. I've used them several times in the past without problems.

The Inspection of old heater and replacement was done in 3 days. I was very pleased with the removal (no mess) and install of new heater

I was satisfied with them. I had an appointment and they called and said that they were stuck at the job before that. They called and told me that they would be two hours late. That was a good sign and I was happy with their work.

They have been reliable in emergencies.

As far as I know, this Libertyville office has closed.

Everything was great. Polite. Clean. Worked quickly. Reasonably priced.

Repairman arrived on time, quickly tightened toilet shutoff valve. Loosened Kohler stuck faucet valve. Inspected leaking pressure flush unit, but wasn't able to help, since the unit was no longer available. Provided advice on how to repair and replace unit.

I have rated 3 other companies on Angie's list and gave them all A's, but our experience with VJ Killian was a definite F. The rodding that V.J. Killian proposed was un-necessary. We obtained independent confirmation with proof from a fiber-optic camera that there was no blockage. I called VJ Killian to discuss this with them, and let them know that their employees had either made a mistake or had deliberately misled us. The woman on the phone was belligerent; she obviously did not want to discuss the situation. With regard to the copper pipe, they came an hour late, fixed one part of the pipe, but said that they'd have to come back to fix the rest. We will not be calling them to schedule.

We discovered water running down a basement wall, and asked Killian to diagnose the problem. They spent a long time investigating. They finally determined the problem was with a drain pipe going through a wall to a reservoir under our front lawn, used to remove water when we run the washing machine. They used a snake with a camera to locate the problem area. To totally fix the problem would have been very expensive, but they suggested that their work had hopefully solved the problem as well. We have not observed any other problems with water on the wall when we run the washing machine. We appreciated them not pushing the more expensive "fix".

He was very nice and honest about what all needed to be fixed and how it should be fixed. He was a really efficient worker. He was very knowledgeable about plumbing in general. He was very professional and friendly. He was a good problem solver trying to find out what was wrong and how to fix it.

I was not happy because the unit did not cool my house the way it was supposed to. They are, however, a very honest company. They didn't mean to recommend a replacement, but they felt that truly would fix the problem.

We found this company on Angie's List and we have used them several times since. They are professional, responsive and friendly. They have always done good work for us. They clean up after themselves nicely.

Good. Were willing to come same day. Came the next day at the time they said. Work was done quickly. Installer was very polite and tidy.
