Lindemann Chimney Service Inc

These guys were great. They weren't inexpensive, but you definately get what you pay for. Their estimate was both inclusive and detailed. Punctual. Cleaned up beautifully (this is a must in my opinion) and tarped appropriately. Really a painless process and amazing to watch and learn. I plan to use them for tuckpointing my brick basement within the next 9 months (it's a winter job--important to provide work to masons in the winter).

Went well. Crew is knowledgeable about the work they do, showed up on time and stuck with the job until it was done. We will have them return to make repairs to the skirt of flashing where chimney and roof meet

Lindemann did a great job. They called the night before to remind us of the appointment, which was helpful. The technician was very prompt and he put down dropcloths to keep our living room clean - in fact, it was immaculate when he was finished. We felt no pressure at all to purchase additional services; in fact, the technician pointed out a crack inside the firebox but indicated that it is not a problem now, and he told us how to know when a repair would be needed. The technician did a thorough inspection of the fireplace and also went up on the roof to inspect the chimney itself. He also offered to help move our furniture back into place. We couldn't be more pleased with the service, and will certainly use Lindemann again in the future!

Great service! *Called when an earlier appointment opened up so we were able to have the chimneys inspected 2 weeks earlier than anticipated. *Arrived on time. *Found problems with one of the chimneys and cap. Showed us the pictures and took his time explaining to us the issues and options for repair (this is our first time owning a home with a fireplace.) *Price to fix and seal cap seems fair. Will use in Spring to complete the work.

Were unable to agree on a date for the work.

The service was very good and several recommendations were made that I will consider in the future.

Tech arrived. Noted that chimney was unlined. Measured it. Wrote up estimate to provide liner & associated materials/labor. When asked if was going to sweep, he said that "there's nothing to sweep". I asked him about a refund for the sweeping service we paid for & he responded that yes, we should be able to get a refund.

They put the wrong size in for my chimney liner. It was done improperly and unprofessionally. I was promised the person that gave me the estimate was going to be doing the work which was a lie. They sent out somebody who had less than a year experience. I was told they were both certified men. The person that came out was supposed to be doing the work but he improperly measured the chimney in first place. I gave the benefit of the doubt with Jim Odell. I called Jim personally and told him the work was not proper. I've been told that it isn't even the right size liner. He said a bunch of different names of people who were qualified to tell me if this was done right or wrong. He did say within a couple days he would come out and take a look at it. I got back to him and told him to not bother coming quickly so I told him he could take his time coming back. Weeks went by and I didn't hear back from them. I called Jim back to remind him five weeks later that he needs to come out and look at it and finish up with the tuck pointing. He did not answer my call and did not hear back from him so I called the office. They even sent me out a bill for the chimney liner so Jim never even told the office that he had a compliant about it. When I called the office they said they had no knowledge of this and were even going to send out a bill for the tuck pointing because Jim said that he was at my house. For my chimney cap, they squished one side so that my fireplace damper could go up and down and it looks horrid. Everything was done improperly. I had professionals come out and look at it they said this was all done wrong. When I ended up calling the office to make the compliant, I was told the person from the company would contact me, which they did relatively quickly. The first thing he told me is I hadn't even paid the bill yet because he did not know it was done improperly. The I told him that it was done unprofessionally and not by Jim, it was sized improperly. At that point, five weeks after everything was supposed to be done, he said he would send his field technician, Shawn, over to look. It took Shawn three days to come over and look at it, after inspecting, he admitted to me straight forward that Jim did not size the liner properly. It should have been an eight inch instead of a seven inch. He also admitted that things were left dirty and improperly. I spoke with the president of the company and said he could have another company finish the job properly, they could do the job their selves, and did not even give me the option to have it put back to the prior state. I was told Shawn would be sent back out to put the proper size liner in. They said they could not get this done in the time they were given to do the job so they were relieved to put it back to it's prior state. They told me that they would send out a check for my liner. I did not even receive my deposit check back. At the end they ended up doing what I asked for, but not what I needed. When I called the office, Jim Odell called me raging that I called the office telling me he doesn't want to finish my job and saying who told you it's the wrong size liner. He hung up on me after telling me he did not want to do my tuck pointing. I was not a priority to get things straightened out. He did mention he had five weeks of work to get to and he's doing what he can to get it taken care of. They did not clean up properly for my neighbor, did not grind all joints for tuck pointing, said he did not want to do a certain area, and her rain cap is crooked on a round chimney with a square top. When the lady called me yesterday to tell me they would be sending out the deposit check, she did apologize for what I went through. ***The President of the company did send me a letter of apology and also gave me 2 gift cards to starbucks to make amends and I have also now received my deposit check now. I still would have rather of paid the money and had the work done properly. ****

My main concern was the time it took to get an quote. The estimator was very professional once he came out and I felt he took the time necessary to provide a detailed quote.

Office Lady was helpful and kept in contact. Steve who inspected and gave price and did the work was wonderful. very pleasant I will need them again in the Spring to rebuild my brick chimney. Cold weather has to be built in the warmer months..

I called and talked to them and they were great on the phone. Nice information and that is why I tried to hire them. Unfortunately I wasn't able to schedule an appointment for over a month from the time I needed the service.

Used coupon to have chimneys cleaned and inspected. While coupon special seemed very reasonable, initial quote for repairs seems high, especially since masonry work has to be done separately. However, very thorough inspection used great technology (camera / screen revealed several problems, some of which are safety issues, so I truly appreciate that professionalism and information).

The salesman came out but we believed the estimate was a little bit too pricey.

I did not use the deal, but he was very, very nice. He called me right away to let me know I was out of his service area and followed up as well letting me know to contact him if there was anything else he could assist me with.

The entire experience was stellar as noted by so many other Angie's List members. The Lindemann Chimney team was on time for the estimate, then showed us what needed to get done and prioritized the work. They came back at the exact time and date that we discussed during the estimate, then did the work and cleaned up . Thus, work we should have done 10 years ago on this chimney was done. We also called back between the time of the estimate and the actual work appointment to inquire about a detail on another chimney on the house. They were responsive and gave us great advice that a) saved us a lot of hassle and b) went above and beyond the call of duty. I really appreciated their professionalism and simplicity in tackling the work.

The service technician was an absolute professional. He set-up the area around the firebox before he began to work. So there was no dust or mess launched into the house while he scrubbed the flute. The work was done quickly and he explained in great detail repairs I may consider and ways I can improve my operation of the fireplace. I will definitely use these guys every time I need a cleaning and inspection.

Did what they were hired to do, looks good.

They were very impressive. Came out and looked at the chimney 3 stories up without us even being home. They took pictures to show us what the issues were. There estimate was within the range of the ones we received. We were able to schedule them quickly and they came on time, were polite, clean and professional.

They did a great job. Showed up on time, completed the job in a timely fashion, kept the inside clean (and there was an incredible amount of mess involved). The guys were very polite and friendly. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Suggested some other services that would be beneficial for protecting our chimney. I didn't purchase any of those at the time but may in the future.

Their bid came in too high for the work. I used another contractor to do the job.

Excellent, they were very professional and gave us what we needed.

The crew arrived on time and completely rebuilt our brick mailbox which was falling apart. They did an excellent job and the mailbox looks great!

Initially we played a little phone tag in geting the whole process started but after that all went pretty smoothly.The only little glitch was that the crew had to return to finish the job because they didn't have enough caulk for the base of the building which was a little confusing to me since the same guy doing the work was the same guy who estimated the job.The mason however explained everything to me to me before,during and after their work was done and said they would be back the following week to complete the caulking(which they did). They did a very nice job and I will use them again in the future.

I first want to say that I experienced nothing but the utmost professional correspondence with everyone I spoke to at Lindemann Chimney. I fully understand that they were not equipped to perform the much larger scope of the job that I was having estimated but they chose not to even accomplish the scope that I had purchased. I'm quite disappointed because basically it was a waste of my time.
