Description of Work: 11:43 PM Purchased an Angie's List big deal that included the following: $39 for a five-point toilet tune-up and comprehensive home plumbing inspection Five-point tune-up includes: inspecting and adjusting the fill valve, cleaning rim flush holes, replacing the worn flapper, adjusting the tank level operation, and a home plumbing inspection. ...except none of that was actually done. One of my toilets could, in fact, have used the tune up as described in the deal ...but the plumber insisted that I would have to pay extra for it - nearly $300!! What a rip off! Basically I paid $39 for a guy to come to my house to give me a quote for all the things they could fix for an outrageous price. Stay away...both from the big "deal" and this company.

Description of Work: I was not there when the fellow did the work so I gave a B on quality just because I can't really judge. He was prompt, he cleaned up very well, he discussed the results with my roommate since I was not home. I don't know what the regular price is but the price I paid was 1/3 less than what I paid a handyman last time to do the job. I did not give a mark for professionalism because once again, I was not home when the work was done.

Description of Work: The technicians were all great. Dan came and checked the units. One had a bad compressor. He called the office and a representative, Ron, came out promptly to give a quote on a new unit. Dan installed a new filter system and made an appointment to come back in 2 days to install U/V lights, the same day ARS would install the new A/C unit. We were questioning the comfortable temps n the house and the need for a new A/C unit the day in between the appointments. I called ARS first thing in the morning to have Dan come out and discuss the unit before they new install. The office was great and Dan was sent out as soon as possible. He walked me through the diagnostic test and I agreed that the compressor was not turning on. He called the office and the install team came out within 90 minutes to install the new A/C unit and make changes to the furnace. One of the U/V lights was not working properly. Dan called the office and someone came with a new unit to install before the install team left. I was very impressed with the promptness of everyone and the professionalism.

Description of Work: Scott arrived on time to look at our 2 year old water heater that was intermittently not providing hot water. Approximately once every two weeks. Scott diagnosed the problem as a faulty gas supply valve. We ordered a replacement from Whirlpool under warranty and contacted ARS to return for the install. Scott had quoted $325 which I thought was a bit high, but I don't like to mess with gas. He said they would have to remove this, clean that, check settings, drain the tank, etc, etc ,to justify the $325. |Scott came back with Mark, who he said was in training to install the valve. Job complete in 45 minutes!!! For $325??? |However, this story has a good ending. The valve was not the problem, or not the complete problem. We decided to toss the Whirlpool and have ARS install a new unit. Their price for the new unit was competitive with LOWES and HOME DEPOT. AND they credited the $325 service call against the purchase price. |New unit installed and works perfectly. |I was very impressed with Scott who represents ARS well. Very professional and knowledgeable trying to assess a difficult intermittent condition. |We highly recommend ARS and would use them again.

Description of Work: After the initial tune-up & inspection we decided to contract our serviceman to install a new low-flow, comfort-height stool, and also install a line for our freezer ice maker complete with filter, and emergency shut-off valve (and warranty). | |Our technician Scott W. was very pleasant, professional, and knowledgable. He provided multiple solutions for our needs at varying price points and I didn't feel pressured to choose the most expensive. | |We will definitely use them again for plumbing, an likely other repair/work needs.

Description of Work: Fix a busted busted outdoor faucet. ARS plumber was very professional and took time to explain what happened.

Description of Work: Guy came on time to clear sewer line - did not have the right tools so could not open stack. Said he would try to clear to catch basin from basement drain for one price but if that did not work he would try from that drain out to the street for a second bigger fee. (I do not remember the amounts). He did not offer to clean sewer line from the catch basin, which another company did, successfully and for one price.

Description of Work: I am looking for a new and more honest HVAC service. Went to Angie's List and watched The BIG DEALS. ARS RESCUE ROOTER advertised a $49 Check Up and I bought it. Jimmy Dillon, as well as his home office were polite, accommodating and honest. Jimmy explained the goals of the visit and that he would go into detail with me after he finished. He was not in a hurry, nor did he try to sell me things that I would not have recognized as someone not knowing the trade. UThe outstanding gesture was that this service person smelled a gas leak when he was in back of the AC unit! He encouraged me to call NICOR right away. I would not hesitate to do business with this company.

Description of Work: All of the basic plumbing was tested/checked to our satisfaction. In addition, slow drains were "unclogged" and questionable /weak/old items were pointed out to us. We also received an estimate to install another outside faucet but we declined as too costly. However, we did have the service tech replace our sump pump, which was additional cost (but needed). The service was provided on time and in a professional manner.

Description of Work: The service tech showed up within the agreed upon time. The office call to let me know the tech was in route. The tech completed the checkup and recommended a compressor savor for $199.00 to help the existing compressor and hopefully to extend the life of the A/C.
