+ 0 moreI purchased $200 worth of plumbing services on an Anglie's List Big Deal for $99. The additional costs were labor overtime and plumbing connections that did not come with the faucet set I bought. The plumber was punctual, professional, and thorough. He priced some additional work I asked him about, but decided I couldn't afford at the time. The installation of the new set went as planned, and my vintage 1920s sink now works perfectly with a Kohler faucet set that is very close in appearance to the original. The old plumbing was a mess, but the plumber cleaned everything up. I'm so happy with Rescue Rooter that when we encountered a major sewer issue, I contacted them to bid the job. Unfortunately, since they couldn't do the street tear-up and repair necessary to fix the sewer, we elected not to use them rather than deal with a subcontractor. However, it was the estimator from Rescue Rooter who ended up referring us to the company that we have chosen to work with. That spirit of honesty and networking is what distinguishes one company from another. Three cheers for Rescue Rooter!

+ -1 moreIt was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was pretty good. He was nice, he did a pretty good job. Only I think it was too pricey. I later found out that you can buy the same product at a cheaper price but his service was good, no doubt.

+ -1 moreI was pleased with the service itself, and the gentleman who came to the house was very helpful, but the company was extremely expensive and I didn't realize that when I was buying the big deal. I ended up spending much more money, then I ever would have, had I understood that prior to purchasing the deal, and in that regard, I don't think I would every use the company again, because they are highly prices. I ended up spending over 200 dollars and that was just to have him spend 10 minutes working on my bath tub drain. I have also have them adjust something on my toilet and the price for that was going to be over 300 dollars. I have worked with plumbers in the past, and they charge per part or per hour, but these guys charge per job, which makes it very expensive. I was stuck using them because I had purchased the big deal. Their standard pricing for drain cleaning is USD 325. The guy who came was very professional and he did repair the drain, it was all about the pricing, which he had nothing to do with. When I saw their pricing list, I thought I could never use them because their pricing is really inflated.

+ -1 moreThey came out the next day after I purchased the deal. They changed out a faucet in my kitchen. It took them about 25 minutes. He did a good job and he cleaned up. The only complaint I have is that I had to pay extra due to the forthcoming cost the work; they didn't tell me until they were finished. When I spoke to him on the phone, he never let me know the cost of what the work was going to due to the menu pricing which was ($261.00) total for a faucet change. All I want Angie's List members to know is ask this Company about the pricing before you have them come out to do the work.

+ -1 moreThe technician showed up during the promised time window. He seemed capable and fixed an issue with our furnace's airflow without charging us extra. He did recommend new parts for our old a/c unit (hard start kit and a new condenser motor), which would have cost over $700, so we decided to get a quote on a new unit. Unfortunately for ARS, when I set up the appointment two weeks later, no one showed up and I ended up getting a new unit from another HVAC company. While we likely won't be using ARS again, the overall experience was decent (minus the no-show, of course).

+ -1 moreWe bought an Angieslist coupon from ARS. The plumber arrived with a trainee. After reviewing the work list and without looking at the situation, the plumber said we only get 200 dollars worth of work and our list could not be completed. He would not say how much time $200 covered. At that point, we said he could leave and we would ask for a refund. He said that if we prioritized things he would do the work. He installed most of the fixtures in the bathroom but insisted that he had to remove the pedestal sink from the wall to change the spout. We didn't allow him to do the removal. (There is a plumbing tool to work on the back of pedestal sinks; either he didn't have the tool or didn't know about the tool.) Hot water was not restored to our bathroom shower because his cheapest option was about 700 dollars. Also, we found that the toilet wouldn't flush after he left, so he didn't even do basic quality control on his work. Luckily we could make the adjustments to fix it ourselves. The whole experience was bad. I won't be using ARS again. I will be calling to complaint his morning.
Description of Work: Installed new shower and sink and commode fixtures that we already owned. We wanted him to restore hot water to our basement shower at which time he proposed redoing all of our pipes for 4500 dollars. Most of our pipes are less than 15 years old.

The plumber was friendly and professional and explained what he was doing. I was given four options. I don't have a lot of plumbing work done and I guess I was in a bit of shock at the prices. I was glad I had purchased an Angie's list deal. Pleas w understand the prices may have been very reasonable, but I did not have the time to compare and ask for quotes. I would use ARS again for future needs.

+ -1 moreOverall, I'm very pleased with ARS. Our A/C unit stopped working, and I called around to a few places. Many could not fit us until the end of the week. Thankfully, ARS had no issues accommodating our request for a next day service. The technician was friendly, and had no issues with me hanging around to take a look as he diagnosed the unit. The issue was a burnt out wire and a plastic switch, which had deteriorated over the years. He fixed the wire, and replaced the plastic switch all within 30 minutes. With something like this, you worry about an excessive billI. Fortunately, the cost was very manageable and I appreciated the honesty and professionalism of the technician and ARS. Thank you.

+ -1 moreIt went extremely well, except for the fact that my A/C unit is about 30 years old. Although it works pretty well for us, it is obvisously not working as when it was once new. The tech, Jose G. did a great job explaining the readings he was taking off the A/C unit as to what they were compared to what they should be. He did suggest a few items that would make it run better, but agreed with me that spending $800 or more dollars and still having a compressor that is nearly 30 years old wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. He took the time to explain the benfits of a new A/C unit and talked about possible options for us to consider. He did not take the opportunity to "scare" my wife and I into a purchase. He spoke to us in an informative type manner and wanted to make sure we understood what we might start hearing and feeling from the A/C unit as we get into warmer weather. Jose G. seems to be a great asset to ARS. Quite honestly his non-selling method has us sold that we will need to replace the A/C unit sooner rather than later. We have been doing business with ARS for about 10 years since we replaced our furnace and although we are people who will "shop" other companies when it comes time to make this purchase - I did so when we replaced the furnace and found ARS to be a company we could rely on and believed they would provide great service. We have never been let down!

Factored into their $59 coupon offering, they were far too costly and a big waste of my time. So - who reimburses us for the time they cause us to lose?!?
Description of Work: I confirmed and scheduled an air conditioning system check up and cleaning for pre-season maintanance a week before the appointment date. I confirmed the date and time and specifically advised that I will take off work to be home for thscheduled window of 4 hours for the appointment to occur. I also advised that I will be home awaiting their arrival and that I am confirming the appointment NOW - so that another confirmation will not be acceptable as I may be working in the yard and not by the phone. They still called to confirm that I was home - neither call I received as I was outside working in the yard. They did NOT show up for their pre-scheduled appointment. I called them when the 4 hour window was expiring with their not showing up. I now lose my half day wages from work! They say theu tried to call me and confirm the appointment - which was already affirmed and scheduled. So - in their zealousness to protect their time (by wanting to reconfirm that people are at home and waiting for THEM to arrive), they dis-respected MY time! The technician was professional, knowledgable, and courteous. The issue was that administration was not. They can claim they need to routinely reaffirm all appointments before sending out someone to a potentially empty house - but when prior arrangements were made to accommodate that consideration, they should honor that. If they are so rigid and unaccommodating to the needs of the customer, I prefer to find another service provider willing to work PERSONALLY to accommodate the home-owner/customer. Their approach states: We don't care about YOUR needs and particulars; We are MOST concerned about our bottom line and OUR interests.
