Geoff did an amazing job on our deck. He worked fast and the quality of the work is outstanding. we are so thankful to Geoff for giving us an amazing deck that we love. We will definitely use Geoff and Benchmark on future projects!

Geoff is a professional builder. He gave a detailed quote sheet listing all the materials and labor involved in building my building. After agreeing to all the details, he worked with the county to get the proper permits. Lake County was very difficult to work with and they caused many delays in my project. Once all permits were approved Geoff started immediately but it was then early January and getting very cold. His builders did what they could during January and February but it was slow because of the cold. They did pour the foundation and get the building all framed. Geoff stays very much in charge of the project and is good control of all his contactors. He answers phone calls and texts day or night. If I texted him at 8:30pm I thought I would get an answer in the morning. 90% of the time he would text me back that same night. He is easy to work with and remains calm in some difficult situations.

There was a whole box of siding ruined during delivery so the installers had to make it work with less even though I paid for enough siding. The concrete sidewalk and patio cracked in less than one year. When I called Geoff said he would have his father take a look at it and never got back to me.

Geoff is very knowledgeable, easy to work with and offered many suggestions.. He and his team are dedicated hard workers. They showed up on time every day and kept the place pretty clean. They were very polite and if something wasn't quite right they would fix it (I'm pretty picky). It took them about 4 weeks to finish each place and both turned out beautiful. It only took one week to sell each house thanks to Geoff and his team. I can't wait to get another house and work with them again A great Angie's List find!.

I would highly recommend Geoff for any of your remodel needs!! We will without a doubt use Benchmark for any future projects. Going into the project we really did not know how stressful the process would be(our 1st big home project). I can tell you that this project was managed extremely well by Geoff, stress free & no surprises along the way. With 3 kids, 1 dog and 2 working parents this point was a huge plus!! He was very patient with us throughout the process and assisted our thought process with changes that we made along the way(Geoff has a great eye for the detail and vision of how the project will look which helped us immensely as he understood what we wanted the final product to be). Attention to detail, punctual follow up and overall just a very respectable individual and contractor.

This was a very small job that I wanted professionally done. I called several contractors and had a difficult time getting anyone to come out and even look at the job. Geoff did come out and looked at it and gave me a written proposal. Others asked me to email them pictures to provide a quote that was essentially a broad window of $400 - $1200. That's not a quote in my book. Geoff was honest about his schedule and that this was a small job that he would look to squeeze in between his larger projects. We stayed in touch over the coming weeks. Geoff responded to every email I ever sent him - the same day. He was able to find an open day and came out to complete the repair. The repair looks great. He matched the paint extremely well. Geoff was great to work with. He works for himself and is not part of a large operation. I am willing to give small businesses some flexibility. If this had been an urgent repair, I would not have waited for his schedule to open - or perhaps he would have given it a higher priority. In the end, I am glad I waited for his availability. The repair went perfectly and I felt he took great care in the work that was done. I intend to call him for other projects in the future.

Geoff is very nice. I just think he is too busy to follow up on some of his projects. I don't know if my job was too small but I felt that he rushed some of the work because he felt he had to get it done so he could get on to his other jobs. He kept telling me how busy he was. The electrical outlets in the room where he put up drywall move considerably and he said his electrician had an easy fix. That was the last I heard from him. Some of the finishing work on the siding is not done as well as I think it should be. Maybe I am too picky but I want work done correctly.

I have used Geoff for a number of projects on our new home over the past few months and he has been wonderful to work with during the entire process. As with any home improvement projects, we ran into a few snags along the way and Geoff was always very professional and timely in his handling of the situations. He also put up with my indecisiveness at the start of our larger project, a master bath remodel, and walked me through each of my options. As for value, Geoff's quotes were always very reasonable and the quality very high. I would highly recommend hiring Geoff for any home projects.

Very responsible. Tile job was very good. We were very happy with the work and it looked great. We highly recommend this company. Very good on details. An earlier remodeler was not detail oriented. Highly recommend this company: Great price, great quality. Any issues we had was made right without hesitation.

From the beginning I was very impressed with Geoff. Right up front he demonstrated his experience and professional knowledge when he came out to quote the work we wanted done. When reviewing the projects, Geoff identified concerns and suggested solutions or options to help achieve the overall goal the work was intended to achieve. He found potential concerns that other estimators had missed or perhaps not bothered to point out. This told me Geoff was more interested in doing the job right than he was in just getting a new customer. In addition, when I would ask questions or make suggestions Geoff?s responses showed that he had listened fully to what I said and responded appropriately and helpfully. This was different from other experiences were a contracted professional would only half listen to what was asked and snap off a reply based on a quick judgment of what they thought I was talking about. Geoff, on the other hand, not only gave me a good answer but helped to explain why that was the case. This helped me to collaborate with him on the details of the projects which resulted in the completed work being exactly what we wanted. Lastly, the work he did looked great and it really added to the beauty and aesthetic appearance of our house. We are already planning additional future work that we will use Benchmark for when we are ready.

The wall unit we thought could be built with existing cabinets turned out to be impossible, for the specific measurements we required for the size of the TV, location of the speakers, etc. So Geoff spent quiet some time to design the wall unit from scratch, and the final work is beautifully designed, crafted, and functioned just as required. The quality of his craftsmanship got to demonstrated via this center piece of the basement. He also suggested smart ways to hide the wires for the 9 speakers going surround the walls, again, great craftsmanship. Geoff needs to drive long way from his home to our place, and each day he came on time, and worked long hours to complete our basement before our required deadline. He communicates with us throughout the process to make sure we understand the progress, the material options, alternative solutions when we hit some unseen problems. The overall quality of Geoff's work is the best, and his nice and warm personality is also the best to work with. He and his team demonstrated the definition of integrity, hardworking, and efficiency. We will definitely choose to work with him and company in the future, and already recommended him and company to many of our friends.

The kitchen remodel included removing a wall separating the kitchen from the living room, replacing the kitchen cabinets and floor, and building an island. Despite running into unexpected problems with remodeling in a old high rise building, I am happy with the end product. Geoff is professional and does his best to accomplish your vision.

Geoff and his team could not have been more courteous! In preparing for the project, we emailed back and forth tweaking the details of the work. He was patient and helpful! Although they drove quite a distance to come work on our house, they arrived promptly by 7:30am each day and worked a full day. I was so impressed with how quickly they were working even in the blistering heat! Geoff checked in with me to make sure I was understanding all the finer details of the repair. He was enthusiastic about the work he was doing, which made it easy for me to trust that he was doing his best to make it right. I would HIGHLY recommend these gentlemen to any new homeowners (or old homeowners!), they did a great job to "make it right", not just make it look OK from the outside. Their customer service can't be beat!

Geoff is amazing he is on time/early shows up everyday puts in a full and honest days work!! I had a definite design and idea how I wanted my deck to look and he made it happen it's beautiful!! Did a great job! He is easy to talk to easy to go over any concerns or changes you may have. Will be using him for all our future projects, we look forward to seeing him again!

He was on time. He was professional and a nice guy. He only had to paint a bedroom 12 x14 and only one wall 12 x 8. He also painted a bathroom that was 8 x 7. He had 1 space in the bathroom around a window that he painted a different color and in the bathroom there was one wall that was 8 x 8 that he didn't have to paint at all, because I was getting cabinets in. He also help me take down a window covering as well as put it back up; he did put it up a little crooked though. It took him 9 hours to do all of this; he stayed much longer than what he needed to. I bought the materials and I had gone out to purchase more materials too. He also charged me for materials that he brought as well. He also made me pay him for the extra 2 hours that he stayed over, additional from what the Big Deal 7 hour time frame from what I purchased from Angie's List.

After a delay in communication to start the job, everything went very smooth. Geoff is very prompt and works clean. The communication throughout the process was also very good. He lets you know exactly what he's doing and why as well as the cost/benefit. He had the porch removed and replaced in a little more than one morning. The trimwork job was also completed in the timeframe that we needed. He arrived early and worked quickly. The craftsmanship met or exceeded the cost based on the other quotes we received for these jobs. He also has a network of subcontractors to successfully complete other jobs you may need done in your home. Basically if you need a job done at your home, call Benchmark and Geoff will find a way to get it done in your timeframe at a reasonable price.

I am extremely happy with the end result of my deck construction project - Geoff was absolutely the right guy for the job. He had the knowledge and experience to address some of the specific repair issues with utilizing my existing deck substructure and deck footprint so I wouldn't have to completely rebuild the deck from scratch and have to dig and repour the damaged supports and footings (saving me thousands). He really worked with me on his pricing for my job proposal, and was helpful and flexible with letting me dictate where/how to procure some of the high-priced building materials (Trex decking and Trex rail systems) for the job, so I could get the best value. Geoff always showed up early and worked late to efficiently complete the job. He even painted and installed trim on the fascia of the deck (not even part of the job proposal, which shows Geoff's attention to detail) to make sure that the finished deck would look aesthetically perfect. Benchmark represents great value and great craftmanship, and I plan on using Geoff for future projects.

Geoff was excellent. He was incredibly punctual, responsive, and in tune with what his customers want. Punctual and professional: He arrived promptly at the scheduled start time each day, except for one when terrible weather had most of the interstate shut down. On that day, he called ahead to let me know what was going on, which I greatly appreciated. He was in and out during the scheduled times, and even with the slight rain delay, finished ahead of schedule (2.5 days, versus the 3 he quoted me.) Responsive and communicative: Geoff is very good at communicating with his clients. On days when I was at home while he was working, he came with any issues he ran in to and gave me an update at the beginning and end of each day. When I wasn't home, he called with an update before leaving. He is also very prompt at responding to emails as well. Geoff initially came and did an estimate, and emailed me a copy of the proposal later that weekend with the pricing of the door and window researched and examples included in the proposal. Most other contractors I've worked with have just given me a quick and dirty estimate and I've always had to figure out what is unnecessary in the proposal, and what they might charge me extra on. With Geoff, the proposal was laid out clearly and what I read is what I got. The price was a little high at first, but he was very responsive to negotiating a different rate. Knows what his customers want: I recently bought a new condo, which Geoff worked on. I love this place. I want it to look good. When I want the second bedroom closed up, I want it still to look good, not have drywall slopped over and a door hammered in at a funny angle. Whoever initially built that second bedroom did NOT do a good job with it and the angles are very weird. Geoff took the time to put the wall up NICELY and make it look good. He also knew EXACTLY what I was talking about when I mentioned installing a window in the wall to let in natural sunlight and found the exact window that I wanted online. He was very considerate of the look I was going for in the place, and built the trim around the window to fit with a loft-style unit. There's more than just technical skill behind what he does, there's also craftsmanship and artistry. I would highly recommend Geoff and Benchmark Design. If I ever need anything else done in the unit again, he will be the first person I call.

I think Benchmark Design Build Remodel Inc was real professional. I really liked him. We didn't go forward with the job but we may in the future go for a smaller job and if we do, he'll definitely one of the first ones I'll call. He's a great guy. He was very prompt and punctual. He was very detail oriented and really nice. He is easy to talk to. I will definitely call him up for a quote.

On the day of the job, Geoff arrived on time. He was polite and took off his shoes (without being asked) when he came inside. He looked at the cabinet and told us how he thought it would be best to cut it down. He did an excellent job cutting down the cabinet, in fact, he even told us that he had gone out and bought a very fine saw blade beforehand in order to keep the cuts as clean as possible. He was very meticulous about what he was doing and I could tell he took great pride in his work. He did a great job in turning our obsolete entertainment cabinet into a very usable stand for our flat screen TV. It didn't take a full day so we asked him to fix some garage trim and look at some trim we were having trouble with in a bathroom too. Geoff also was very good about cleaning up afterwards. My sister may be doing some basement remodeling soon and I have already recommended Geoff to her. The only reason why I didn't give Geoff an A rating on everything (I rated him a B for responsivenees) is that I did have a little trouble getting a day scheduled. He was very responsive with my initial emails but there was a bit of a time lag when we were trying to get a date scheduled for the work. In the end, he was able to come the day I wanted, so that was nice.

Geoff is great, a real professional. We will hire him again without hesitation.

Geoff is incredible. Prompt, capable, efficient. He puts 110% into his work, making sure that the job is of high quality without high cost. I would recommend him with the highest of confidence.

Geoff, did a great job of installing a sliding door on the side of my garage that faces my yard. Part of the garage had to be cut out and he took care to make sure the extra load of the roof was secure and safe. It was a project that I had been waiting for months to do and find the right person to do it, and he took it on confidently and professionally. He was courteous, on time to start the job and had the materials he needed. He is straightforward and knows what he is doing, and does not cut corners when it comes to safety. Also, don't let the Barrington address stop you from getting an estimate. He is very professional, but also a down to earth guy.
