Geoff with Benchmark is a scam. He was hired to renovate a flip. I was told a timeline and end result would be top quality. He had a single person doing carpentry, tile work, flooring, dry wall work, painting, etc. The quality of work was very poor. Furthermore, Geoff is never available and has no time to show up and manage the project. His completion timeline was way off. I ended up terminating project with him. I lost money and time. Be careful hiring Benchmark.

It went very well and very pleasing service.

My experience with Benchmark and Geoff and all his professional employees was extremely spectacular! The quality of work was beyond my expectations. They also listened attentively to my suggestions and accomplished all the situations I requested. My laundry room was not a simple remodeling project. It was a total gutting of the room including moving the hot water heater from the first floor to the basement. The finished project is beyond my expectations!!!!!

After a very prompt response to the Angie's List inquiry, and a plan to connect via phone, Geoff has never bothered to answer multiple calls, nor take the time to courtesy to reply to 3 different voice mails left over a 2 week period. I am giving a C, only because I have no idea if the work would have been done well or not. Too bad that a simple 10-second call would have been fine, but at this point, I am definitely not proceeding.

The work quality was very good. The sunroom came out very well and looks great. We had some custom needs that Geoff accommodated ie we wanted to add a gas range and a bar countertop around it. Even the Inspector and the folks who visited us complimented on the quality of the sunroom work. The work could have been completed a tad sooner but in the overall scheme of things it was more important that we had a sunroom that would be a delight for years to come (and it is!). Benchmark should definitely be in your consideration set.

Project was never started due to non-responsiveness from contractor.

Everything went well until about a month after the project was completed in May 2016 when the roof started to leak. The area affected continued to spread while we worked with Geoff for 2 years to have it repaired. Unfortunately, Geoff had hired his brother-in-law to install the roof, who wasn’t qualified. For the past 6 months we have been contacting Geoff to have the repair work completed by either of 2 qualified roofing contractors that we have put in contact with Geoff but he continues to avoid doing anything. We would prefer to work with Geoff in having the repairs made but we may find ourselves in court if Geoff continues to not respond.

Geoff and his team, (including his dad who has been doing concrete work for 40 years) from Benchmark did an outstanding job start to finish. Geoff, who has a degree in Architecture, began the planning of the rebuilt structure with me that included new features to preserve and strengthen it. Among the new features were the addition of concrete wings under the walkway and a drainage system to siphon water away. He did everything from the drafting of the plans for the village, demolition, construction of both cement and brick work to the final touch, brick columns to accent the building with decorative flower urns. You would not believe how wonderful the front of the building looks today. Our Maintance Person who is a carpenter himself watched the entire process and told me of the very high quality of the work he observed. I would strongly recommend Benchmark for any such work.

The project went very well. I contracted for both design and build and Geoff's plans went through the Lake County review process without any changes. The project went very smoothly, with no change orders or extras. Minor changes were required as we went through the process and we both agreed on all easily. I and a civil engineer and contract for lots of projects. I value the contractor's integrity and dedication above all else and that was excellent here. I would contract with Benchmark again, without hesitation.

The entire project could not have gone better. Geoff is responsive, has great ideas and was true to his schedule. The workmanship is outstanding- I was extremely pleased with the outcome and it was worth every penny I paid. Speaking of cost, Benchmark was very competitive, but what sold me was the first meeting with Geoff- he had good ideas, relayed experience and provided a realistic timeframe. I ended up interviewing 12 contractors for my project, and had the first contractor I selected not stood me up, I would not have had the opportunity to work with Benchmark. Geoff and Pablo treated my home like it was theirs, and that went a long way to removing any anxiety from the experience. I mentioned it earlier, but Geoff's responsiveness is outstanding- he actually answers his phone! Save yourself a lot of trouble and angst and go right to this guy when you have a remodeling project you won't regret it. Benchmark/Geoff deserves the highest rating- I will be using his company for other projects this year.

The entire process was awesome. Geoff, owner, is the best contractor I have ever worked with. Timely, honest, and had great ideas. I had signed contracts with 3 other firms to start the work, and all of them backed out for various reasons. I wish I had come across Benchmark Design Build Remodel Inc first- it would have saved me so much time, and effort. Since I had researched so many other contractors for the work, I knew the pricing Geoff quoted was competitive, and actually ended up being one of the best because there was no additional charges of any consequence that came up during the project. This was such a great experience, that it convinced me to do a gut of the garage with updated electric, flooring and drywall- and I used Benchmark for that and it was another stellar experience. Geoff is the best- great ideas, delivers what he says he will, is always on time and great communication- you won't be disappointed if you call him. His team that works with him is also great. I have more work for Geoff and wouldn't even think about calling someone else.

The project started well. The progress slowed down, and there were some items that needed correcting, like the height of the bathroom sink. In retrospect, I should have checked the work done each day in order to identify needed corrections in real-time. I would have appreciated more communication from Benchmark regarding the project and progress but I can say we are happy with the result and have had no issues since completion.

Contacted them twice. First by email through their website, second by phone. Both with no response.

Great! Geoff was very professional and came in at a price half the amount of my other 5 quotes. He was very responsive and prompt. The entire job was finished within 48 hours of receiving the quote; that included pulling a permit with the city, and passing city inspection. Would absolutely hire again.

Geoff and his team were great to work with. He responded to our initial inquiry promptly and throughout the project was conscientious, flexible and quick to respond to emails. We wanted to do a simple basement finish with a full bath. At no time did he try to upsell the project, he only made valid suggestions based on our budget and time frame. There were just a few minor issues at completion and they returned in a timely manner to correct them. We’re happy with the results and are glad to have an additional 1300sft for our family to enjoy.

It went great! Benchmark blew away my expectations. The quality of work, and the integrity they displayed throughout the process was top notch. I am extremely happy with the process, and the results.

Geoff was just what we were looking for in a contractor. He was extremely knowledgable and skilled. We had several walls removed and some structural changes needed to be made and Geoff and his crew were able to make these changes, no problem. We did a complete tear down and a complete remodel. Installed high end cabinets (Rutt) and appliances (Wolf/Sub Zero). New floors. Had no issues with anything during the project. Geoff was punctual and his crew was respectful of the mess they were making each day and made it a point to leave the house clean for us at the end of the night. It's comforting to know I've found a general contractor for all future home renovations. Highly recommended!

BenchMark, Build & Design Is and incredible company! We have found their service and knowledge second to none. Geoff, the owner, is a hands on owner. He answered all of our questions and was on hand throughout our project, not like some company we have dealt with. Geoff is a stickler to detail and his craftsmanship was amazing! Great. Team was great and anything that needed to be touched up or adjusted were done well and quickly.

Smoothly, on time, on budget. Geoff did everything on his proposal and helped out with a few other things that weren't on the list. He also lined up a concrete contractor to pour a new garage slab which turned out beautifully. The house he and his workers had been working on went live on the local MLS on a Friday; it went under contract that same weekend, thanks in no small part to how nice it looked after Benchmark gave it the once over.

Geoff designed our deck better than the other contractor and the end result exceeded our expectations. ?We had very specific requirements that weren't exactly standard. ?Before starting and throughout the project we had multiple questions and clarifications and Geoff patiently provided great answers in both email and in person when he was onsite. ?I sometimes felt I was asking stupid questions but never got the feeling he judged them to be stupid. As part of the deck, we wanted a partial pergola at an angle with privacy walls on one side. ?The version of the pergola that Geoff created was unique and had an interesting aesthetic. ?In addition to a great design, Geoff offered other wood options and within those options ways to reduce cost by having a mix of materials. ?We chose to go with Cumaru for the deck floor and partials on the railings and a hint on the top of the pergola. ?That was his suggestion for tying the Cumaru throughout the deck. ?We chose the Cumaru because it had the best environmental track record for sustainability (not only from a reforestation perspective but also from the toughness of the wood itself). ?The deck is beautiful and provides us with the privacy we were looking for without seeming pretentious. The deck blends nicely with our paver patio and we are even extending Geoff's contract so that he can add a paver walk-way from our walk-out basement and a retaining wall along the paver to manage a slope on the one side of the walk-out doors. We have also started working with Geoff on 2 other projects that we hadn't really given too much thought to. ?But because our experience with Benchmark was so good, we thought this might be the time to consider more. ?Geoff is currently working on designs for our fireplace and remodel of our master bathroom. ?We look forward to continuing to work with him.

Geoff is just what we were looking for in a contractor for this sizable project. Our biggest concerns were finding someone who was trustworthy/ethical, skilled with high standards for craftsmanship, who has good communication skills, and was respectful of our budget. Geoff and his crew fit the bill. I was really afraid of all the contractor horror stories you hear about guys who will take your money, and then you never see them or you can't reach them, or whose work is shoddy. NOT AT ALL the case here--you can feel confident in hiring Geoff that he is great about communication, and once the project got started someone was here working almost every day. Geoff and his guys worked SO hard to do an excellent job, and Geoff was really receptive and totally reasonable about any issues that came up along the way. We were pleased with their craftsmanship and attention to detail, and Geoff is just a nice guy to work with. He was very respectful and considerate regarding the impact of such a large project on our day-to-day lives (with small kids!), and worked diligently to minimize dust and disruption as much as humanly possible, which we appreciated immensely. Geoff adhered to the original cost proposal he gave us. The project did start later and take longer than anticipated, but at the end of the day Geoff and his guys worked incredibly hard and with remarkable dedication to get it all done and done right, and we are thrilled with our new space--so for that we are extremely grateful. Our new space is beautiful and gets tons of compliments. Can't say enough good things! We would both hire Benchmark again and recommend them to a friend.

We've used Geoff and the Benchmark team before, so we knew exactly what to expect: honesty, courtesy, professionalism, quality workmanship and punctuality. When looking for a contractor, you want someone that does what he says he's going to do, gives you good quality work at a fair price, and is someone you can trust in your home when you're not there. Geoff and his team are all of this and more. (They even let our dog out while I was at work!) Prior to beginning the project, Geoff came out and discussed in detail every aspect of the project. He gave us contact information for suppliers (tile, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, lighting) so that we could work directly with them and still receive his contractor's discount on materials. Our goal was to have all material available at the start of the project to minimize the length of time to completion. Prior to beginning the project, he gave us a written estimate. There were no "surprises" with the estimate. he stuck to his original quote. Punctuality: a very important quality! I never sat around waiting for Geoff to arrive. If he said they would be there at 7:00, they were parked out front at 6:55. Availability: Geoff and I often communicated via text messages about the project. Several times in the evening, I texted him a questions expecting a reply the following morning, only to be surprised with an answer within a few minutes. (Not sure when he sleeps!) But the most important thing about Geoff and his team is that they CARE about the quality of their work; they see their work as a reflection of themselves and take pride in their ability to perform a job well done. It's a rare thing these days. To say he's highly recommended would be an understatement!

Benchmark was one of 5 companies that we received bids from for our project. The owner Geoff eclipsed the other companies with his knowledge , responsiveness an enthusiasm for our project. Geoff was punctual every day and always friendly. He is a very skilled and fast worker. The two gentlemen that he had helping him were also very hard working and polite. We are very pleased with the finished product and plan to use Benchmark for future work.
