Karzen Restoration, an 80 year old Chicagoland furniture restoration company. Specializing in the refinishing and restoration of antiques and treasured family heirlooms. Karzen Restoration’s old world artisans can reclaim that piece of family history and renew the original old-world beauty to finely crafted furniture. Decades old couches, chairs and loveseats can be reupholstered to bring back the memories from another era. Description of Work: Mr. Karzen was very helpful and professional. He repaired and re-upholstered two very chairs for me- circa 1850 and did an outstanding job. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable in his craft and I loved his quick responses to my calls and questions.

Description of Work: I left a voicemail and received a prompt call back. I sent photos of the tears in the leather that I wanted repaired. He gave me an estimate and recommended that the chairs probably were not worth fixing due to their age and mechanical issues. I agreed. He also was able to recommend someone to fix the mechanical issues if I disagreed. I was pleased with his advice.

We had arranged for Alan to contact us for an on site estimate the next time he was close to our home. He called five days later to inform us he would be by in the next ten minutes. He was rude to my wife who was trying to explain that she couldn't be home for another hour. Only my 15 year son was home so he showed Alan what was wanted. We never heard back with an estimate

He was very accommodating and someone I would definitely choose. I really appreciated that he wasn’t trying to force the job and said I can let him know when I was ready. He was also knowledgeable.

They did a great job! They are a pleasure to work with. I would definitely have him re-cover in the future and have already had him quote on some jobs in the future.
Description of Work: The first project was a chair and I had a fairly small amount of fabric to reupholster it and he did a really amazing job with the amount of fabric. It was done quickly and it was an awesome application and use of the fabric because I didn’t give him much to work with; he was really creative and did it perfectly. The second project we had was some table covers, and they did a great job with that also and the end result was exactly what we wanted.

It was excellent, and they did very, very good job. I would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: They restored an antique settee. He fixed the spring and restrung it to make it strong and sturdy, and he recovered it in really nice fabric.

Their service was excellent. I felt they were really careful and made good recommendations for the pieces. They were conservative in a good way to prevent over restoration.
Description of Work: They have done many things for me. They restored a French antique desk to beautiful condition. They reconstructed and restored a civil war era chest as well. They have refinished many side table sand other small tables.

Their service was mediocre and I would not refer them. They came and did the work over night. After they told me the work was finished, and I was not at all happy with the outcome. I called them and had them back to redo the job. I really thought it would be a top notch company after I met with them and had the consultation; but it just did not turn out that way.

The lesson learned, is not to wait before having needed repairs done. If I had called on Karzen Restoration, Inc. when the repairs were first needed, I could have enjoyed the chairs much sooner.
Description of Work: One 48 year old wing back recliner's naugajude was cracking and the footrest was broken. Karzen Restoration, Inc. did an outstanding repair job, within two weeks. The chair looks and feels brand new. I was so pleased with the workmanship that I asked Karzen Restoration, Inc. to repair a second, 25 yr. old recliner. Again, the workmanship was excellent and the price reasonable. I would gladly recommend Karzen Restoration, Inc. to anyone needing antique and/or fine furniture repair.
