Sunrise Tree Care

I called three Tree Services; two came out, one could barely speak to me. I explained that I had a Maple tree in which the roots had grown and that I wanted to expand my patio. Lyle from Sunrise called me back and we made an appointment for a Saturday morning. He was very professional and thorough - explained what could be done; felt my tree was young enough to withstand the root pruning. Shortly thereafter, another company came out and said "the maple could die - do you want us to do the work." I said I'd get back to them. On Monday morning, I called Lyle and asked him about the Maple dying. He said that he couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't die after the pruning, but by treating the tree (before the patio installation and after the patio installation), we were being proactive. He also felt that the tree was young enough to withstand the pruning. I then agreed and signed the contract we set an approximate date for the pruning. As luck would have it, the worker called us Saturday and asked us if he could come and prune the tree as it was going to rain the next few days. We said yes; he arrived and was done less than a half hour later. He was neat and clean and friendly. Today, I received a called that another worker will be out this week to give the tree its first treatment.

The sales guy, Lyle, did a good job walking us through the process. Once the work was done, we did have some concerns about tire marks on our property and their clean up. We didn't really think through going 50 feet up to get to a tree and he explained quite nicely their safety issues and such. I would probably use them again.

I love Sunrise! They followed up on their own accord on a cottonwood tree that was hit by lightning in 2006. They provided an estimate for bracing several branches and general tree trimming. We accepted the estimate, and added that we had several other issues to be looked at (mostly trimming of a front yard tree and the removal of several small trees). We agreed on a new price and amended the contract. All of the above was in May. They didn't actually get to us until August to perform the work, due to the stormy summer we had. They were most apologetic about it. When they did the work, though, they were thorough and professional. I would definitely use them again.

The initial work was well done and by and large effective. I considered this a one-time job. Nonetheless, every year Sunrise has prepared to do the work again. I receive a renewal bid in the mail which calls for my signature. The first year I ignored it. Despite that, the work was done and I paid for it. The 2nd year, I phoned to say I didn't want the work done, but fortunately was home to stop the service person who arrived to perform it. So it has gone each year. Once again, I received the renewal bid in the mail this year, which I am returning with a written request (the second in writing) to stop. Perhaps this time it will work. Anyway, it is this experience (once in the system, can't get out) that prompts me to write, rather than the quality of the initial service. This comment does not reflect of the quality of the tree pruning/removal service which I have found to be excellent. It's hard to believe it's the same business. I will hire that team again.

The bid was to remove a large tree blown over during the Aug., 07 storm by Beinlich, one of the Sunrise companies. This estimate was grossly overpriced, as I ended up getting two subsequent estimates from other companies in the $1500 range. As there was so much work to be done, this number was clearly thrown out to see if I would take it.

I really like the fact that they were on time and did everything that they were supposed to do in a reasonable amount of time. They didn't have any problems at all with any of the trees, and they just did a very good job overall.

They did an amazing job! After the storm, many companies increased their prices and took advantage of people looking for tree service. These guys did not. They were honest, helpful, and had their regular prices. The work was done quickly and efficiently. They all wore safety equipment, and were very careful in removing large branches. The clean-up was excellent as well. I will use them again in the future!!!

Lyle/Sunrise referred us to another company owned by his company, McGuinn, who does their work in our area. Lyle was conscientious & helpful. McGuinn responded quickly & gave us a detailed estimate. The bid was competitive & they could come quickly, so we hired them. They came 30 min early-rude to us & our neighbors & started making noise earlier than allowed in our neighborhood. As Chuck was telling the crew what to do, it became apparent that we had misunderstood each other about the work. I was NOT pleased with how he treated me. He stated emphatically that he is always very clear, & tried to just ignore me & continue with his crew without resolving the issue. He seemed concerned only that I was trying to get work done without paying. I had to INSIST. We traded part of the work for the part that needed to be done & it was fine. They did a good job & cleaned up well, but left a huge pile of logs to be picked up later without our OK. Good work, mediocre communication.

I have used Sunrise several times before and have been satisfied with their tree service. The arborist came promptly and estimated the tree treatment comparably to another service. However, I did select a smaller company instead due to a better price and more extensive knowledge regarding this new area insect. I would still consider Sunrise for other tree service in the future.

We had two bids. The prices were similar, but Sunrise demonstrated a real desire to keep trees alive and give them assistance rather than tear them down. They were reliable, on time and within their budget.

Michael Wall (certified arborist) was very friendly and prompt during his initial visit. They were not able to do the work until three weeks after the meeting, but that was OK with us. At the last minute, I needed a number of very small trees to be removed. For this work, they only charged us $50 more dollars. I was most impressed with the fact that the workers removed branches from my yard which I cut weeks before. They did this without even mentioning it. They were in and out within 1.5 hours. This was the second job that Sunrise had done for us. I highly recommend them.

Called the company to get an estimate on grinding a stump. They said the estimator would stop by my house, and they would call me with the estimate. No one ever stopped by, and they never followed up. During my wait for them to estimate the project, I hired and had the work done by someone else.

The company rep came out to bid, but made it sound like he was doing us a favor. He stated that the company does not usually work in Libertyville, but higher end areas like Willmette, Lincolnshire, etc. He did however give me many examples of jobs they had completed nearby, so I'm not sure why he said they didn't work in our area. He offered a 4-man crew for 1 day at $2000.

Great service. Arborist was friendly and professional. Service was great. Crew that showed up was very accommodating and even hauled away debris they did not create. Left yard better than they found it. Of three quotes, theirs was the most competitive and service was great!

A positive experience although they had to come back a second time to grind the stump. Workers were very professional, came as scheduled, and did what was asked.

HE KEPT SAYING HE WAS GOING TO COME OUT AND CUT DOWN TWO TREES AND TRIM ANOTHER. HE NEVER SHOWED UP OR FOLLOWED UP AT ALL.

THEY WERE EXTREMELY COOPERATIVE, GETTING BACK TO ME WHEN A NEIGHBORS TREE FELL IN MY YARD. AN ENTIRE CREW ARRIVED INSTEAD OF JUST GIVING AN ESTIMATE THEY WERE READY TO DO THE JOB. I SPOKE TO LYLE KATZMAN AND HE WORKED WITH ME ON ALL DETAILS. THE REASON FOR THE B ON PROFESSIONALISM IS WHEN I ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE ON ANOTHER JOB, THE CREW CHIEF SAID HE DID JOBS ON THE SIDE.

LYLE CAME OUT TO GIVE ME THE ESTIMATE ($1600). HE WAS A DAY EARLY BUT IT TURNED OUT FINE SINCE I WAS HOME. HE WASN'T TOO ANXIOUS TO EDUCATE ME AND THE ESTIMATE WAS HIGH.

UNEXPECTED PLEASANT SURPRISE... USED EITHER A LEAF BLOWER OR RAKE TO CLEAN UP AREAS, EVEN WHERE THEY DID NO WORK. THE PERSONNEL WAS COURTEOUS AND HAD EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS (REFRESHING IN THIS DAY AND AGE).

THEY DID A NICE JOB AND THEIR PRICES WERE ABOUT 20-25% LESS THAN OTHER COMPANIES, FOR THE SAME JOB. TOOK THEM A BIT LONGER THAN I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SCHEDULE THE JOB (ALMOST 3 WEEKS), BUT DID A NICE JOB ONCE THEY WERE HERE AND MADE NO MESS.

THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO MY FIRST PHONE CALL. THEY DID NOT COME FOR THE ESTIMATE WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. THEY WERE WAY OVER PRICED!!

LYLE WAS A PROFESSIONAL ARBORIST AND HONEST: HE SENT A GREAT CREW OUT TO SATISFY A VERY DISCRIMINATING CUSTOMER. MOST OF THE WORK WAS IN THE BACK YARD, AND THROUGH A TIGHT ONE-CAR DRIVE, AND THEY CAREFULLY MANEUVERED THE HIGH LIFT AND THE SHREDDER SEVERAL TIMES. THEY DID A GREAT JOB AND CLEANED THE YARD UP NICELY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

THEY WERE COURTEOUS, FRIENDLY, AND THEIR CLEAN UP WAS FANTASTIC. WE ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY

EVERYONE CONNECTED WITH SUNRISE WAS WONDERFUL. THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT, THE PRICE ABOUT 50% LESS THAN OTHER BIDS, EVEN THE CLEAN-UP WAS GREAT.

THERE WAS A DELAY BUT THAT WAS BECAUSE OF THE STORMS. THEY DID END UP COMING OUT AND THEY DID A REALLY GOOD JOB. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL. THEY WERE VERY CAREFUL CLEANING EVERYTHING THING OUT AFTER THEY DID THE REMOVALS.
