About us
I am an Interior Designer with more than 20 years of experience in Residential, Commercial, and Model Home interiors. Whether my clients need help choosing a new paint color, or a complete reworking of interior spaces and styles, I strive to listen well, understand their needs and bring together all the elements necessary to give them the look they will love. I firmly believe that for any design decision to be a good one, it needs to 1) look fantastic 2) be completely functional, and 3) be a great price. These are the factors that make any purchase a great value, and I strive to give my clients the best value possible. I love what I do, and have a passion to help my clients obtain the interiors they dream of, for a price they can afford. The scope of my services range from complete home remodeling, to a quick freshen-up for a single room. I've also branched out into staging for those who are intending to sell their homes, and with more than 15 years experience in the model home industry, I have unique skills and perspectives for marketing homes for quick and profitable sales. Specialties: Passed NCIDQ exams in 1989, and became a professional member of ASID. Won National Home Builder awards for sales office design and model home design Rates and Terms Design time shall be billed at $125.00 per hour. This includes time spent at client’s home, as well as drawing, drafting and planning time, Internet research, and shopping. If the client lives beyond a 30 mile radius from Gurnee a 1/2 rate of $65.00 shall be charged for travel time.

I signed up for Angie's Big Deal for two hours of consultation services from Nancy Anderson Design. Nancy arrived right on time and gave me her full attention. We went room by room and discussed possible decorating projects for the future. She offered me many ideas but didn't try to push or talk me into anything. Rather than decorators who act like a client is made of money, Nancy had plenty of suggestions for saving me cash, like decorating around an upholstered chair rather than spending money to recover it or keeping larger furniture items and updating the look of a room with accessories.
We discussed flooring ideas, paint colors, window treatments, and items specific to some of the projects I was doing like bathroom fixtures. She called one of the companies she works with to get a guesstimate from him on a bath remodel. I had received a general quote from another contractor and wanted to see if the quotes were similar--they were.
Nancy understood that my husband and I were retired and was more than willing to help us get the most bang for our buck to bring our home into an updated, comfortable state.
Hopefully, once we are ready to begin our remodeling projects, I will be able to contact Nancy for additional help. She was very personable and easy to talk with.
Nancy provided excellent advice on how to prepare our home for a future sale. She gave us referrals for people that can help us with our work. I was so impressed with her that I referred her to my boss. I would not hesitate to use Nancy again.

"Wow- it's hard to know how to respond to this, as it just doesn't reflect reality. I worked really hard to please this client, and went way above and beyond the time that I billed her, doing personal errands and favors for her because as she said, she had some health issues, and seemed to have no one else to turn to. As part of my services, I had a professional painter paint her fireplace the color that she and I agreed upon as I stood in the family room with her looking at swatches, and confirmed that color to her in an email later that same day. I had the work done for her, and she liked the color for 3 months, and then decided she didn't like it after all. She said I needed to pay to have it redone, and threatened to write just this sort of review if I didn't pay for it. I said I'd be happy to help her choose a new color, and I was sorry she was not pleased, but since she had approved the color, I was not disposed to pay for the changes myself. In spite of this, she wanted to move ahead anyway with other purchases through me, including new family room furnishings. I told her that because of the communication break down, (she said she never remembered seeing the paint swatch) I felt that another designer could probably meet her needs better than I. If a client doesn't remember what we talk about in a meeting, even when I send her meeting notes that confirm our conversation the same day, I'm not sure how to fix the communication errors that will surely follow. I thought it best that I not get in any deeper. That is the last I heard from her, until I saw this review. In over 30 years of serving my clients, I've never had an unhappy client. I'm truly sorry that this customer is not pleased, but I feel that it is beyond my ability to satisfy her desires and needs. I wish her well, but will not continue to work with her."
Nancy introduced me to a local contractor who worked with us every step of the way. She helped me pick out all the materials, colors, paints,counter-tops, cabinets, drapes, and carpet, necessary to renovate the kitchen, living room, bath, halls, and balcony.
Directed and drove me to suppliers with the lowest prices for quality products. She worked closely with painters, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and the contractor to make certain everything was done promptly, at the best price, and as ordered. All the special little extras, new chair cushions, a wonderful little nook in the entry hall, shadow boxing my paintings, fixing lamps and decorative pieces, have made my condo my beautiful new home. All appliances work perfectly, the painting is perfection; it's all so lovely, and Nancy made it so. She saved me more money through her discounts and choosing the best contractor and dealers with great prices than the fee she charged me.
