Nancy Anderson Design

Nancy is a gem! She is savvy, practical, and fun to work with. Nancy helped me make selections that I like, that also will enhance resale appeal and value. She also knows good tradespeople and sources, so I didn't have to hunt all over to get things purchased and installed. She also had some great staging ideas for when the time comes to list. I recommend her highly!

We are trying to get our house ready to sell and really needed advice on kitchen upgrades, interior painting, window treatments...all those things that make new buyers go all in. However, I am not creative at all, so this was becoming a challenge. I found a lot of great reviews about Nancy on Angie’s List, so we called her; she responded within 24 hours and she fit us in her schedule within 72 hours. She is extremely flexible with scheduling and fit us in on a Friday night, arriving right on time (even in horrible weather). Within minutes of walking through our front door, we loved her. She is extremely nice and very genuine; and very respectful of what you currently have and your current tastes (some realtors might make you feel terrible about your house, but she is just the opposite). She walked through the front door with the eyes of a potential buyer and we went through every room as a buyer would. She gave us excellent suggestions on paint colors, countertops (even left some granite samples with us), window treatments, lights, accessories, and more. There were several areas that I'd planned on spending money to change and she advised me not to, that I wouldn't get my money back. She also gave many suggestions for when we do actually stage the house and how to make it more appealing. She gave us several links for affordable window treatments & lighting, gave us names of people to call for various work we plan on having done. It was an absolutely wonderful experience; I wish I'd know about her 12 years ago when we first bought the house. I will definitely be calling her when we buy a new house. Her fee is exceptionally reasonable; she saved me from spending more than her fee on unnecessary upgrades/improvements! I dreaded getting our house ready, but after working with Nancy, I'm excited about how it's going to turn out and the fact that I'm not going to be spending as much as I thought I'd need to. It was time & money well spent!!!

She was very helpful and provided genuine feedback with some great ideas to accommodate a modern look and feel and cost conscious.

Nancy is an amazing interior designer. She is also a consummate professional who will pitch in to assist in any task reasonably requested of her. I give her the highest recommendation possible. She helped to design a fireplace/built-in cabinets and shelves for my living room and a new stand-up shower for the master bathroom. She picked out furniture, light fixtures and display accessories using her impeccable taste but also considering my preferences as well. Nancy also knows how to deal with third party providers when they fail to deliver what they promised. I don't think anyone would regret hiring Nancy on any design or decorating project -- big or small. Don't overlook this gem -- she is one of a kind.

Nancy went above and beyond. She was able to come out spur of the moment and was at my house in 45 minutes to help me. She is absolutely wonderful to work with, great eye and ideas. Was so grateful for all her insight.

We hired Nancy to help us think about long-term vision and short-term projects. We are combining households and the house we will be living in was last remodeled in the 80s. It's hard to know what order to do things in and when. We need new flooring, new woodwork, new doors, lighting, kitchen remodel, bathrooms remodeled, painting. A ton. Nancy came and helped us think about order of operations. She also gave us lots of ideas about lighting, color, trends, what's important and what's not, etc. Now we have a plan and it all doesn't seem so overwhelming.

I have been very happy with what we have done so far. I was very happy with her suggestions, and how she worked. Everything. I was very happy with her, so far. Her personality. She was enjoyable to work with. I trust the advise she gave me. I trusted that she knew what she was doing.

I bought a coupon from you and the service was fantastic. Nancy is very personable and enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Her ideas were, I agreed with almost everything she suggested worked out well and if I didn't like it she was good with that. we opened some boxes of thing I've ordered and one of the piece had come broken she called the vendor for me and gave him hell about it and they didn't even make me ship the broken one back which was nice. It turned out beautiful.

Nancy brought excellent ideas and samples. Beyond advising, for various reasons we didn't have an opportunity to begin any work, but she was gracious and helpful in the advising work.

This was a big deal purchase and it was okay. It was not quite what I expected. You know, I was kind of hoping like she would either draft a layout or something, but she just kind of, you know, like, walked us through and talked us through -- you know. I don't know if I would use her again just because what I was looking for was somebody who would, like, provide, like a draft plan. You know, for a design so that I could take that design and implement it. She was really helpful, you know, but nothing was different, you know what I mean?

Nancy was very enthusiastic and can tell she really enjoys what she does. She was great at providing her thoughts and ideas that helped us make decisions which projects to go for and which ones will not add value to the house. She provided lots of contacts that she has worked with which made it easier for us to get the projects started.

Nancy walked through our house and gave us advice on how to stage our house for an upcoming sale. She explained design elements, helped pick wall and carpet colors, described changes needed to lighting, she helped hang our artwork properly and told us what changes not to make for the sale of our house. Nancy even educated both me and my children on design elements in general. We are not quite ready to sell, but when we are ready we will definitely call Nancy again. I can't say enough good things about Nancy and her professionalism and helpfulness.

Perfectly. She took time to listen to our needs. Nancy asked about out style and furniture likes. Gave great suggestions for making rooms feel more like home. The best way to describe her talents, is that when my husband came home to see the staged living room, he said, "I would have paid the total bill just for this room!" She also will be available for phone consultation if needed. Overall, she made our home look like a show piece in a style magazine.

Nancy was fantastic! Full of positive energy and great ideas. She helped me implement some improvements in decor with items I had, which was awesome. (Instant gratification!) Nancy also suggested items to purchase which were beautiful, functional, and in budget - some of these, I bought immediately. (Something to look forward to!) And she gave me a list of mid-term activities, with contractor and store recommendations, to tide me over until her next visit, to which I am definitely looking forward! Nancy was wonderful to work with - creative, thoughtful, motivated, and really fun. Would recommend without reservation!

Nancy was great! She showed up at our scheduled appointment and immediately began looking over the house for areas that needed attention. I provided her with some concerns that I had, based on feedback from past house showings, and she came up with some great ideas to address those concerns and make my house more appealing to potential buyers. She knew I didn't want to invest a lot of money, since I would be selling in the near future, so all of her suggestions were very budget-friendly. I plan to call Nancy when I purchase my new home to get her ideas on decorating it.

Nancy arrived right on time and immediately got to work. She listened patiently to all my concerns. Because of all the money I would be spending on furniture and accessories, I really didn't want to do a whole kitchen makeover, but I wasn't happy with the colors that were in the kitchen. They were in the black and grey family and I really wanted brown tones throughout the house. Without hesitation, she immediately took out her phone, went online and found the perfect back splash that would marry the colors in the kitchen with the colors I wanted through the rest of the house. Absolutely amazing! This was within the first five minutes of her being there. She continued on with picking some colors for the rest of the rooms, again perfectly matching and blending what she had picked for the kitchen. After that, she sized up the Family Room and Living Room and proceeded to select the placement and type of furniture for both rooms, all the while keeping in mind our initial discussion of what I was looking for. I wanted the Family Room to be a nice cozy place to watch movies as I was also investing a good amount of money in a new TV and surround sound system. I also told her I wanted somewhat of a rustic look. As for the Living Room, I wanted to keep this kind of a relaxing place to play old LP?s and 78?s, a music room. I also play guitar so I wanted this area to be comfortable to play and display my guitars. In less than 2 hours, an hour and a half to be exact, she had selected the placement and type of furniture for both rooms. In this short amount of time she had picked a general idea of coloring (I say general because we had to pick the furniture out to be sure all would match) for the Kitchen, Breakfast area, Family Room, Living Room, Hallway, Dining Room, Laundry Room and a Bathroom. I was truly blown away. If I did this on my own, it would have taken me forever to pick all this out and I am sure in the end it would have been a disaster and money poorly spent. Then it was time to pick out the furniture. She recommended a store called ?My Family Furniture? in Grayslake. She met me there a couple of days later and introduced me to the owner Ken. And she had samples of 2 back splashes for the kitchen and had purchased my drapes for the dining room. How about that? Just so whoever reads this understands the extent of this undertaking, we were picking out the following; For the Living Room---a loveseat, 2 end tables, a cocktail table, an entertainment console to house a stereo and turntable to play my LP?s and 78?s, a book case for movies, cd?s, books, etc. and an area rug / For the Family Room---2 power recliners, a chairside table, a manual reclining love seat, a cocktail table, an end table, an entertainment console and an area rug. Again, I have to say, she was absolutely amazing. In 3 hours, she helped me (although she was doing all the work) pick out everything on the list above including all the special fabrics and leathers. After that she firmed up all the colors for painting. And keep in mind, she was picking out styles she knew I would like, she listens to her customers. And Ken was terrific as well. You can tell he is extremely knowledgeable of the furniture business and takes pride in what he does. I will follow up with another review when everything is delivered and the project is done. But I have to say I was extremely satisfied with Nancy. She is prompt, she listens to your needs, she is extremely fast and efficient and she does not waste your money. She was worth every penny. Giving her a grade of ?A? doesn?t seem fair enough, she was terrific!

Nancy arrived on time. Called to provide an approximate arrival time and after we talked and she took note of the décor in the rest of the house, she was ready to go. We chatted about pros and cons of fixtures, wall paint colors (she brought many samples of colors by both Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore) and she even had the paint store send me the samples. We talked about placement of things and what to do with a kitchen window that needs something to bring it out without replacing the whole window and frame. I have promised to send her pix of the completed project. I would strongly suggest Nancy be called just to confirm and get opinions on plans for any home remodeling project you may have. She is sweet, generous with her ideas and she cares.

I purchased a special price on Angie's list ..... $279.00 for 2 1/2 hours of interior consultation. Ms. Anderson was to arrive at 9:00 AM on 9/30/2015 and assist me for the contracted time (until 11:30 AM). At 9:20, she had not yet arrived. Concerned that there was some problem on her end, I called to see if all was well. Actually, she was still at her office and had completely forgotten about our appointment. Apologetically, she said she'd be there as soon as possible. We discussed colors, but I was never quite excited about her input. She seemed to dismiss my suggestions for kitchen colors in a lighter yellow tone saying it looked washed out against the wood trim of the doors and windows. We didn't seem to be on the same page. And she also seemed rushed .... perhaps she had another commitment. On the more positive side, she did order paint samples for colors that she recommended. After 1.5 hours, she left, saying that she'd be happy to come back for an hour should I need her for additional help and would not charge me for that time. Not charge me!!!!! She didn't even give me my full 2.5 hours to begin with. I selected her from Angie's list based upon the reviews, however, my experience with Nancy Anderson was far less than positive.

Nancy is wonderful. She is very prompt and easy to talk to. She gives great ideas and is very much the type of person to work with you as opposed to another technique. This is key, and a strength of hers and for anyone in this line of work. It's important to be a team and feed off of each other's ideas. She had lots of ideas and thinks quickly. We hope to continue to leverage her knowledge and expertise in the future.

Really outstanding experience. She listened to what we were trying to get accomplished, observed the style and tastes and gave really great recommendations for not only color selection, but vendors to contact and what to look for in their services. I look forward to future work with Nancy.

Nancy was wonderful to work with. In the hour we spent with her, she was able to look at 4 rooms, take into account the current décor, and suggest paint colors that would work well with everything. Our painters are just finishing up, and we are so happy with the results! Nancy gave us terrific suggestions, and was so easy to work with. We heartily recommend her, and will definitely ask her advice on our future home décor projects!

Nancy was amazing. She was prompt and she immediately contacted me after I bought her services here on Angie's List. Since the suggested dates I gave her wasnt conducive, she made it a point to go out of her way to meet us past work hours. She came home and helped us narrow down the colors for the house as well as various ideas I had for the house. She was extremely helped to help pick colors, gave us suggestions on what to do for refacing our kitchen cabinets, re-doing our Master bath etc.. She even gave us the names of her guys and different stores that we could go find what we liked. I loved our experience with us and she is amazing to work with. She walked around each of our rooms and helped us figure out what we wanted.

Nancy is AMAZING! She is worth her weight in gold. She suggested great colors to paint the rooms, and also how I should furnish them .... suggesting a mirror above the fireplace, what to put as decorations on top of my kitchen cabinets, how to make my windows look larger, etc. She is extremely friendly, helpful, easy to work with, knows what she's talking about .... I just can't say enough about her! What a find!!!! I would highly recommend her.

I was very pleased with my consultation. I felt she really worked to understand my tastes and style and made several suggestions that I could pick from. Although I went in initially looking primarily for help with choosing paint colors, I gained so much more from the consultation, in addition to several great recommendations. It was such a delight working with Nancy!

Everything went extremely well. Nancy provided a plan for our design. I will continue to work with her as we move forward with the renovation of our living room. She has made herself accessible through e-mail and cell phone number contact information. I am excited about the transformation of our living room. I know that it is going to look great!
