It went well.

Finnegan Paving was one of 4 companies that bid on replacing my driveway. They were not the lowest bidder so I did not select them.

Most of the paving companies I contacted quoted me similar prices. Where Finnegan stood out was their insistence to not pave the same day as the removal and foundation prep. The reason for this was to allow the foundation to settle properly. They even had me park on the stone mix for several days, so that the continual driving over it would do even more to even things out. The number one source for driveway failure is poor foundation. Pouring more asphalt on a poorly prepared foundation is a waste of money. While having it all done in one day is obviously convenient, sometimes expediency comes at the price of longevity. After paving, I was also told to give it a good week to cure--again, patience to have it done right. Time will tell if this one crucial detail makes a difference or not but it makes sense from an engineering standpoint. In all other respects, Finnegan was one of the easiest home improvement companies I've worked with--from contract to site prep to the two separate days of work to final payment. Will use them again, but I probably won't ever have to!

The work was done in a timely manner and according to the estimate as I discussed with them. The area was completely cleaned up. The work was done professionally. Finnegan Paving was easy to work with and their co-operation with the other contractor made life a lot easier. I definitely would recommend Finnegan Paving.

Received proposals from several asphalt paving companies, Finnegan's price was very competitive and their Angie's rating was excellent. We feel w made a very good choice, based on the quality of the work, the coordination with us, the village we live in and the agency ( Jilly ?) that comes to the property and checks for all the underground cables and pipes. We signed the proposal in February knowing the work could not be done until the weather allowed it which would be sometime in April. They told us the price would be honored once we signed. Since the weather in the Chicago area warmed earlier than usual, they contacted us and said they could proceed sooner than originally anticipated and because w had signed early we would be their first job of the season. The crew showed up first thing Monday morning, removed the old asphalt, removed it, regraded the driveway. There were large, deep roots from a tree we had removed, that Finnegan could not get to. We had to get the tree company (see Glenwood review) to return and grind those out. Finnegan returned to finish the grading. After that was left to settle they laid the asphalt and rolled it. It looks terrific and is the first time in years we have had a totally smooth driveway.

Finnegan sent someone to estimate the cost for patching and sealkoting the two driveways that service our home and then mailed a written estimate. I signed and sent the estimate back and the company then scheduled a date to complete the job. The price was affordable and the work was performed in a timely fashion. I would definitely use Finnegan paving again.

All went smoothly- no glitches

Very well. Courteous crew (large crew), great cleanup, great asphalt paving with no mess at all on surrounding pavers or planted areas.

I called for the estimate and they were the lowest by far. They did a great job and the owner was here on site. They even came back to check on it a few days after the project was completed to make sure I was pleased.

Went very well. They were very fair about price. Despite a large increase in oil that occurred from the time they first submitted their bid till the time I accepted (June and July 2008), they didnt raise their price. Showed up within reasonable times of when they started, took care of permits, and did a good job. You can rely on their many years of experience. Only hangup was sometimes trying to call them back as they gave office number only, but person you scheduled with worked only out of her cell phone which was a private number. Thus got into a frustrating game of phone tag, since could never call them directly at first and always seemed to miss their calls back. Finally I got Pete to agree to give me his cell phone number, and he couldnt have been more helpful or a nicer guy. It was really easy to communicate with him after that, and I was glad I used them.

They did an excellent job from start to finish. The new driveway looks great and should last for years to come.

They showed up on time to provide the estimate and do the work. The price was spot on with the estimate that they provided. They finished the work in the amount of time they said it would take. I would use them again if needed and would also recommend them.

Mr. Williams came out as promised to inspect and provide an estimate, the crew arrived as expected, and worked efficiently. It appears to me that the company used more asphalt, more equipment, and a larger crew than had been used by the previous company and that the crew spent considerably more time preparing the gravel bed and the asphalt surface. Having to replace a driveway far sooner than expected is expensive, frustrating (and embarrassing). Complaining to a company and to the BBB is time consuming and frustrating when it has no effect at all [They patched some of the cracks with a filler that was far lighter in color than the original]. We hope that we have now chosen a reliable, responsible company, that Finnegan's rating on Angie's List is well deserved, and our cars and our family will be happy with our choice.

I was pleased when the company insisted I have a village permit for the job. It was all on the up and up. The crew arrived a bit late without notifying us, but from there on, it was very impressive. We had to make on the spot decisions about how to handle the base of the barbecue grill (the workers tried to carefully pry it off, but stopped immediately when they sensed there might be damage to the grill), and what to do about some water piping lying along the edge of the driveway they were going to resurface. The company president was there for the whole process; he and the crew members worked together to solve the challenges, and explained to me all that was involved as things came up. Everyone seemed concerned that the job come out just right. The crew was friendly and polite, and reassured me that everything would be taken care of. I received an easy-to-understand set of care instructions. The premises were left clean and neat. I couldn't have been happier with the job.

Company was responsive and job was well done.

Estimator returned the call, arrived on time, explained options, the procedure, the timetable and was completely knowledgeable. Work was started on time and completed on schedule. Workers were polite and cleaned up perfect. They installed a barrier so that no cars would drive on the new asphalt and left care instructions for the new drive. Family owned and family run. A well established company.
