+ -1 moreI am a General Contractor is South Florida who bought my wife's family house in the Chicago area. I researched for a paving company to replace our 30+ year old driveway and picked Finnegan Paving to complete the work. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They did an excellent job in replacing the driveway and were very professional. Being a General Contractor, it was more than just the excellent installation they performed, but it is the service after the job is completed. For some unknow reason, a small area of the driveway settled and started ponding. Finnegan Paving came out and removed that portion of the driveway and repaired the ponding, no questions asked. There are many companies out there that can do a good job, but not many that go the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy. I would highly recommend you contact Finnegan Paving for any of your paving needs.

Description of Work: I had been thinking about having my asphalt driveway repaved for some time. It had many small cracks through which grass and weeds were always growing and was at least 47 years old because that's how long I have lived in my house. Last Fall, I called two contractors who I considered hiring to do the work. They both gave me estimates which were close to each other, but neither of them impressed me with the estimate process. Their bids were full of typos and just didn't seem to have been prepared with care. The end of the paving season approached and I decided to wait until this year and look further. I called Finnegan Paving for an estimate and had a totally different experience. I won't repeat the history of this business. You can read it at [*** Link removed ***] Pete immediately impressed me as someone I would feel confident in hiring. Maureen was easy to reach, either by telephone or email. After the old asphalt had been stripped away and the base inspected and approved by the city, I had a concern about the proposed edge lines. Bill and Kyle came out and looked at it and within minutes we had mutually agreed as to what should be done. They said they would take care of it on the day they came to do the paving before starting the actual paving. That was exactly what they did and there was no change from the originally quoted price. All three quotes I received were reasonable, but there was something intangible about Finnegan that just felt right to me.

+ -1 moreOnce it was done the driveway looked great. Very happy with it. It did take a long time from the time I sent my agreement till they did the driveway. They were very busy and the weather did not cooperate. (three months) Also I was doing phone tag with Maureen since it was hard to get hold of her.

+ -1 moreWe called for an estimate. They showed up while we were gone to look at the job and built the estimate on what had been discussed on the phone. After a second visit with us present to finalize the cost we asked them to begin. They took care of everything, permits, removal of the old driveway, materials hauling, and new driveway installed. Their care in making sure this driveway would last another 60 years was evident in their canceling installation days due to rain. This allowed for any additional dirt and fill to be dry so a good bed could be installed. A fact I really appreciate.

The quote was concise and reasonable. They were very patient through weather delays and a delay due to a possible plumbing issue in the driveway. Once that was resolved, they came, added some extra gravel and completed the driveway. We are very satisfied with their professionalism and the quality of work.

+ -1 moreMaureen is great to deal with and extremely responsive. Superior customer service. Quote was not the lowest I received but Finnegan was the only one who included the cutting of the curb as part if the job as an option and the insertion of steel trim to replace the old rubber trim I had where the asphalt met my flower beds. So, full service and a beautiful look and smooth ride over the curb. Only two comments - they had me wait quite a bit (over one week) between the time they dug up my old asphalt and laid the stone base, and the final pouring of the new asphalt. They said they like the stone to settle and indicated that it was normal procedure but when the village came to inspect they said that Finnegan was just probably super busy and the inspector said he had often seen the whole project done in one day. Also I would say that the straight edges were perfect but the curves on my driveway and not smooth and kind of jagged so keep that in mind if you have lots of curves on your driveway.

+ -1 moreWhen I bought my home 3 years ago the driveway needed work and after the winter it was very bad. I emailed Finnegan for an estimate and was pleased with the cost and reviews on Angieslist. Upon initial removal and stonebase the village did not approve the stonebase. Maureen and Pete came out and evaluated that we need to dig deeper and re-lay some of the stone and re-compact, most likely the previous driveway was not done correctly. Maureen was great. She took care of everything from the permit to the last day of the project. In the end I was glad that I had chosen Finnegan to complete this project from the other bids. I would select them again for Maureen and her team. This was a significant cost and decision for our family and we couldn't be happier with the results and are confident it will last long based on how everything was installed. Our neighbors have all come by to compliment the work including a neighbor in construction.
Description of Work: Remove existing asphalt driveway, lay new stone base 6 inch depth, cut concrete sidewalk and match grading, lay new asphalt.

+ -1 moreGreat service from start to finish. Communicating was a breeze, just be sure to leave a voicemail the first time you call. I was new to the whole process and Maureen addressed all of my questions and concerns. As a customer, I felt very appreciated. The price was unbeatable. I received quotes from five companies and Finnegan's was the lower. I waited a few months after getting the quote and Finnegan still honored it even though they didn't have to. The biggest selling point for me was when I called a company that did not service my area, I would ask if they had any recommendations. Almost all would recommend Finnegan paving. If competitors recommend them, then they must be doing something right. The work itself was of good quality. It's been a few months and the driveway is holding up very well.
Description of Work: Removed old driveway, widened the existing driveway (doubled it), filled with gravel and after the gravel settled, came back and paved a brand new driveway.

+ -1 moreGot three estimates for replacing our existing asphalt driveway - Finnegan's was the lowest and had great reviews so we went with them. When we submitted our paperwork to the village for the permit, it was rejected the first time as our village requires more asphalt than most of the surrounding areas; however, Maureen took care of the problem by calling them herself and going down to the city hall to revise the proposal. The new driveway looks great and we couldn't be happier with it - one issue I did have is that every time you call them, you have to leave a message and their callback number is 'blocked' so there were some phone tag issues - that was frustrating at times but overall, not a huge deal. Hopefully we won't need to ever have our driveway re-done, but I would recommend them to others without hesitation.

Description of Work: While Finnegan's could not help us with our asphalt problem , they did examine our driveway and drains and suggested how it could be fixed. They also gave us the name of someone who could attend to replacing drainage pipes and vents. I would definitely use them for resurfacing the next time around.
