Marty walked us through the store, spent time on at least three occasions while we decided which appliances we wanted. We actually ordered in August but took delivery in Nov. this was due to demolition issues. But the appliances were held until we needed them delivered.

Abt used to be known for customer service. A little over a year ago, I bought a $2,000 range from them, which recently failed. First they told me it wasn't under warranty, but it was sold to me with a two-year warranty. I spent about 45 minutes with them with GE on the phone, who confirmed that it was covered. Abt confirmed this and sent someone out, who after completing the work told me that I owed them $165 for labor. They had never told me that there was going to be a charge of any kind. I called and spoke to Debbie, the parts manager, who told me that she would work it out with GE and never heard back. Six weeks later, I received a bill for $165. I spoke with Tony, who told me that I should have known there was going to be a charge, even though they didn't tell me there would be, let alone disclose the fixed amount they apparently charge for warranty repairs. He refused to waive the bill and blamed me for not expecting them to charge. Unbelievable!

I buy a ton of appliances from them because they are just consistently the best price. If you just shop by price alone they will beat out almost always. They're terrific. They have a great warranty, they have great service and they have great prices. If you have a price in an ad and it's not as great as it should be, you just tell them, you're not as great as you should be and then they'll become great. Usually out of the box they are the cheapest. You don't have to go and prod but once in awhile somebody else might have something crazy on sale. I've bought air conditioners and furnaces from them. Most people don't think of buying those from them. I've had them come out. I bought a furnace, theirs was the cheapest. It was Lennox. They came in and put in the product and it kept not working. They must have come out 5 times. Well, it turned out, it was me. It was my electrical circuit that was wrong. It wasn't anything they did and they replaced and fixed my stuff for me for free.

Abt is a great place to buy electronics as well as large and small home appliances. We have shopped there for many items for our home including tv, washer/dryer. Our last purchase was a washer/dryer which we purchased in the store, and they delivered and installed it for us as well as hauled away our old washer and dryer. We've always experienced great customer service from the knowledable associates at the store, and we will continue to go to them in the future.

Poor and highly disorganized, unresponsive customer service. Questionable integrity.
Description of Work: We had our entire kitchen updated with high end appliances purchased from ABT a few years ago. The Meihle cooktop which we paid $2K for broke down. They sent a repair guy who said he had to order a part. Quite some time later they came back with the new part but the guy broke another part that ABT claims is no longer available. So they say we have to buy a brand new cooktop??!! Seriously?? The service guy broke the part!! This gets worse.... When we continued to call to follow up, they would lie and say they left a message but absolutely did not. We continued to follow up several times. I am shocked and disappointed by this company. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like this company has some scam going to try to get people to make new purchases rather than provide appropriate and honest service. Do not use this company!

I previously posted a scathing review on here, and am now updating it as the issue has been resolved. We purchased a refrigerator in April that died this month. It's a manufacturer defect (be warned about LG french door refrigerators). We initially had a horrible experience with customer service, which was surprising because Abt is known for having some of the best customer service in the world. Long story short, it took almost a full week to get a repair tech to come out, only for him to discover it was a known issue and nothing he could repair on the spot. Parts order was going to take a minimum of 2-3 weeks. They offered to send a loaner but it wasn't good enough for a myriad of reasons. Ultimately, Abt just replaced our refrigerator, so we have a brand new version of what we purchased. It's a customer service decision like this that will keep us loyal to Abt.

We paid, they left. We called another appliance repair service and they came out, ordered the part, 2 days later oven works. ABT should be investigated by the State Attorney General of IL. I have filed a complaint for dishonest business practice. Do not buy from them, do not use their service!

I purchased a new washer and dryer from ABT. This store has excellent selection, and extremely knowledgeable salespeople. Because it was a holiday, I got a sale price on installation and delivery. There was a concern that I needed some electrical work done once my old machines were removed, and they explained that they could evaluate this once they got there, and they could call for a plumber or electrician on the spot, if needed. This was a huge comfort to me, and I appreciated that it wasn't going to delay my delivery. They arrived promptly, removed the old unit without making even a single scratch on my walls in my narrow hallways, evaluated my plumbing and electricity in the washer/dryer area, and did an expert job installing. I received expert education and advice for my new machines. I also have a 4 year warranty through ABT at an additional cost, which includes service by their local experts.

I found another appliance repair company on Angie's list. They performed the service on my time frame and for less money. I cancelled the appointment with ABT.
Description of Work: I purchased a KitchenAid French door refrigerator/freezer from Abt in 2013. (It had a 1 year warranty; I did not purchase an extended warranty.) When the unit was about 2 1/2 yrs. old I noticed a large puddle under the freezer door. I immediately called the Abt Service Department. The customer rep. said (in an "I told you so" tone) that my warranty expired in 2014 and since I did not purchase an extended warranty, I would have to pay $164 to have them come out to diagnose the problem plus parts if needed. She offered a Saturday appointment (3 days away)but could not say whether it would be morning or afternoon. The soonest I could know whether they'd be coming in the AM or PM would be 7:30 AM on Saturday. Since I had another obligation that I could have moved if given enough notice, I had to decline the Saturday appt. The next available date was 11 days out. I took the appointment but indicated I would try to find another provider who could service the refrigerator sooner. I did find another provider on Angie's list and the unit was repaired. I have used Abt to service appliances in the past but those appliances were still under warranty. If at the time of making the appointment they could specify a morning or afternoon time slot, I would rate them higher on responsiveness. (I believe that the service people make their own schedules in the morning on the day of service, and this is why the rep cannot speak to the timeframe.) And although I perceived the rep. to use an "I told you so" tone that may have not been her intention, I did not lower the professionalism rating. |

My first contact was by phone to ABT customer services where I worked with a very good customer service rep (Sasha). We walked through selection, she made recommendations and provide very good input. So I purchased the item(s). Then Vito was the installer. He called, as promised, between 7-9AM to give me my 2hr window, and I told him fine - but if early that would be fine as well. We Vito was early, and he did an excellent job! The space for the new oven was not exact to to old oven, but Vito was able to get it leveled, and looking great in the space.

I purchased a home, had the kitchen redone and purchased all my kitchen appliances along with a washer/dryer, water heater, and thermostat from Abt. I held off on having all items delivered until all work (except countertop installation) was completed. The granite company I used recommended to have the appliances on hand to be put in place once the countertops were installed to make sure everything fit well. So I had the appliances delivered once I placed the order for my countertops and stored them in the living room of my home that I had not yet moved into. Unfortunately, it took longer than expected for the countertops so the appliances sat wrapped in my living room for the time. Once the counters were in place, we took all the plastic wrap and styrofoam off the appliances and noticed a small dent in the refrigerator, a small dent in the side of the hood and the oven door made a noised because it was rubbing against the frame when opened and closed. I called Abt customer service, told them of the damage and they said they would replace the refrigerator along with the hood and send a tech out to fix the oven door. Great! Until... a couple of hours later, I received a call from the salesperson I used. He stated he trusts that his delivery guys do a good job and that no replacements would be made because I had the items in my home for about a month and that the damage most likely occurred in my home... my home that I had not yet moved into and where all work had been completed so there were no workers going in or out of the property. He also said they took pictures of the items once delivered and when I asked that he forward them to me, he stated that they weren't very good pictures. A technician was sent out for the oven and said he would need to order a series of parts and return on another date. I contacted customer service again to set up a second appointment with the technician and, instead, they agreed to replace the oven which will be delivered today. However, the situation with the dents in my brand new refrigerator and hood remain and it is very frustrating and disappointing. Update The new oven was delivered but had the same issue as the initial oven. The door was not aligned properly and rubbed against the frame when opened and closed. In addition, the tone of the stainless steel on the stovetop was different than the tone on the door of the oven. The delivery guys made note of the defects, left the oven and told me to contact customer service as they needed a ticket to take it back. I called customer service the next day and spoke to an extremely helpful representative. She made note of the entire situation from start to finish, arranged for me to select a replacement oven, in addition to getting approval for a replacement hood, and gave me a credit that will pay for one fifth of the $1,000 it will cost me to replace the door on my refrigerator. Ideally, they would have replaced the refrigerator door free of cost, but I truly appreciate all the effort the representative made.

Our 15 year old washing machine broke. I went online to start checking prices. Several of the websites stated that it would be anywhere from three days to as much as seven days for delivery. For a couple of the websites the units we were interested in were not in stock. I found an Electrolux washing machine and gas dryer on the Abt website with prices comparable to a couple of other websites, but more importantly both units were in stock. I called the Abt toll free number ? on Thursday evening ? and explained what units I was interested in and emphasized that we really needed the washing machine as soon as possible. As I was willing to do the install myself they were able to deliver the washing machine on Saturday ? very, very fast service. Abt called at 7am on Saturday morning and stated that we were the first delivery of the day. I had already moved the old machine out. The two-man delivery crew carried the new machine in without scratching our wood floors. The delivery of the matching dryer occurred on the following Monday and was delivered early due to our delivery crew being relieved from helping another delivery crew. They were able to install the new gas dryer without having to un-install the washing machine. They took the old washer and dryer when they were done with the install. Very, very professional. They did an excellent job.

I spent thousands of dollars on Bosch washer and (ventless) dryer. After only six days, the dryer will not turn on. I cannot get Bosch to come and service the dryer because they are "too busy" (Word to the wise, avoid Bosch appliances as well as Abt) I called Abt to see if they could send someone to figure out the problem. The "customer service" rep told me she would "do me a favor" and send someone in two days, otherwise it would be more than a week. The problem is that I have other appointments on the day they could come. I asked if they could come before noon or after 2-3PM. The so-called "customer service" rep asked "do you want to schedule this or not?" Appallingly rude when an expensive item stops working after less than a week. I am willing to work with them, but I don't feel that I should have to clear an entire day for this. I already did that when the appliances were delivered. I was willing to do so. But when an appliance STOPS WORKING after less than a week, Abt should bend over backwards to make it right. Go ahead and shop their pretty showroom, but go somewhere else to purchase your appliances. They do not care about you once they have your money in their pockets. This is a shoddy, unethical way to treat customers. You can do better. Can Abt? Update: In desperation, I contacted the sales person by email. He responded today and offered to switch out the dryer with a new one. I'm still not happy with the process, though. All I asked for was for someone to take a look at the dryer. I don't think I (or anyone) should have to beg customer service and the salesperson for action on a brand new appliance that stops working.
Description of Work: Sold me a defective dryer and will not reasonably schedule a repair, after having it for only six days.

On Saturday, 5/16 the customer was in communication with a sales associate and a store manager. The customer was provided the option to exchange the unit or proceed with a service call. They sell a lot of TV's, washers, dryers and other appliances. They are a little higher than a major electronic retail store but they sell similar goods. They had the best prices locally for the items and provided quick delivery and replacement of the washer when there was a problem. The staff interaction was very good. We liked their selection and they all seemed knowledgeable about the items in their department. Delivery and service is good. We were happy all the way around. If you go on weekends or at a sale they are really busy on the floor but they still have a lot of people who are helpful so it is not like you are waiting around.

Things went very well. I was very happy with the service. They have an outstanding reputation for quality work. They are competitive and the work is outstanding. They installed everything in a day. They were very responsive. I found a problem after they had left and they came back within an hour to fix the problem.

They did a great job. I had some very narrow doorways to get through and they did it without pushing or anything. They were very reliable. They were on time. They called and said they would be here within a certain period. They were in there. I was a little nervous when the doorway was kind of narrow 1.48 to 1.51. They were friendly and explained how the refrigerator worked. I would definitely recommend them. They gave a good price and 2.22 to 2.26.
