Description of Work: We had no cooling and called Abt. They came out quickly, diagnosed, dye tested, found and repaired significant leak at the piston due to a missing gasket, checked pressures, refilled refrigerant, and the system is working well. Our thanks go to Ryan and the Abt HVAC team!

I have used Abt before and had zero issues. But this time was different. And I will not use them again. They were unprofessional and apathetic. They called me in a "morning window" to give me an "afternoon window" of when they would show up. Lots of windows to sort through. But we got it. Everything seemed fine. The technician was very specific: "I will be there between 12-2pm." Fine. ... Day goes by ... and when it got to be be 2 pm ... 2:30pm ... 2:40 pm ... without anyone showing up, OR (and this is what angers me) ... ZERO text or phone call to let me know he was running behind, or frankly, even remembered my job to do ... I had to call Abt to see what was up. And that's the part of the story that is the most frustrating to me. NOT the running behind, (I get that some jobs take longer and the "window we give you is just an estimate" )... so don't even try to respond with that nonsense to this review, you people at Abt ... (But seriously, isn't that REALLY the whole point of giving customers a "window of time?") I digress ... ...The aspect of this story that really bothers me is the fact that I had to be the one to call Abt, to figure out what was going on. THEY never contacted ME. It would have been 3 pm (an hour outside the window) and I wouldn't have heard anything. And on top of that ... they provided NO sincere apologies for having to wait all day. Or remorse for their lack of communication. A simple "our tech should have contacted you to let you know he was running behind" or "someone in our office should have contacted you to let you know the schedule was pushed back" would have been frustrating, but I would have understood more. The tech said he would come at 4 pm. Again, he gave NO apologies for running behind, and NO apologies for NOT contacting me with a heads up of what was going on during his jobs/day. (Abt had to call HIM, so he could call ME) Because of my waiting, I had to cancel meetings and some work obligations, because of Abt. I asked a woman at Abt if they could waive, or somehow adjust the $80-something service charge they require for a tech just showing up ... due to my inconvenience. After many lines of "our jobs take longer than we sometimes can anticipate" ... and "that window is just an estimate" ... she said "IF your job requires an additional part, we can take 20% off that." So ... let me get this straight, IFFFFF, I have to buy something from you (which isn't even guaranteed) ... I get a 20% off whatever I have to buy? ... WOW! WHAT A BONUS! ... but also, let me get this straight ... I get NOTHING REDUCED from the REQUIRED service charge ... of a visit that is providing me NO SERVICE, unless you count making me wait all day, lose work obligations, and have to deal with zero remorse about your zero communication? Nah ... thanks but no thanks, Abt. I'll take my business elsewhere. And it all could have been solved by an apology, or ... (gasp) ... a phone call to let me know, "We know you've waited all day for our tech, I am so sorry, he is running behind, won't hit that window WE gave you... would you still be available later in the day, or like to reschedule?" ... Do better with your customer service please, Abt. And understanding where your customers are frustrated. Listen. Adjust. I scheduled a different company. And will do so from here on out.

Not a good firm to do business with. I spent in excess of $50,000 on appliances for a new home. We wanted a less-expensive oven for our basement and our sales person suggested a Thermador demonstrator that was, "our cookie oven" and was "spotless". We agreed and had it installed. We used the oven twice over two years (two year warranty) and on the third anniversary (Thanksgiving) it stopped working. We ultimately got it repaired and found out the fan was damaged and needed to be replaced for $772.78 - 42% of the original cost of the oven! We reached out to our sales person in the hope that Abt would do the right thing given our history and we were IGNORED. We then reached out to the Illinois Attorney General and Abt ignored them as well. I would not do business with them!

Less than a year ago, we bought a GE stackable washer/dryer plus 3 year warranty from ABT. We've given them thousands of dollars of business over the past 12 years. The stackable broke and we waited through 3 service calls over a 6 week period, while spending a lot of money at local laundromats. Long waits between service appointments. While waiting for a motherboard to fix the original stacker, the dryer also stopped working. When that couldn't be fixed along with the washer and was told more parts needed to be ordered, I went into ABT customer service twice before finally able to speak with someone available in their service dept during work hours, taking off of my job. I demanded a refund from the manager, who finally said they'll try just one more service call, if that didn't work, he agreed reluctantly to replact the unit after a lot of grief from me. The new unit was installed a week later, which was also defective. It took 2+ hours to dry even a small load. After 2 more service calls and installers saying their diagnostic equipment showed no issues, I again demanded a full refund. The ABT Customer service woman argued with me on the phone for over an hour that it had to be our exhaust - it must be filled up with lint, although none of the technicians mentioned that. One tech mentioned he saw some lint on the outside vent which he cleaned off, but before the unit broke, we had no issues with drying. My handyman and I checked the whole outlet, and there was very little lint and the exhaust fan blowed strong. We took a video proving it. The very mean-spirited "Customer Service" woman argued that ABT would need GE to come out and verify that the unit was defective - she didn't know how much longer that would take. To prove me wrong, she also offered to have ABT pay a service to come and clean out my exhaust vent - again, she didn't know how much longer that would take. I was so fed up, I just told them to keep the $1600 bucks I paid for the stackable, that they've lost my business. She finally said ABT will "accomodate us this one time" by giving us a store credit. Thanks a lot ABT, you've lost a many-years-loyal customer! After a recent remodel, we just bought our new Samsung Washer/Dryer from Home Depot. Took 2 days.

It went extremely well ! The salesman, Tom, showed me exactly what we wanted in a washer and dryer. With his help the washer and dryer were delivered to our house the next morning saving us a trip to the laundromat. The deliver men Aaron and Joe arrived exactly at the designated time. After removing some doors they quickly removed both the old washer and dryer. There was a concern that the hose from the washer would not extend far enough to the laundry tub. With some creativity that problem was easily solved. The removal of the old washer and dryer and the installation of the new washer and dryer took under an hour to complete. Abt is the only company my wife and I will buy appliances from.

Estimator was not expert and had to get back to me after talking with installer about my questions. Price was high and after a week, was offered a $600 discount. But that left the price still high. I ended up contracting with a small owner operated company who could discuss my options directly with me and who did the installation at a better value than ABT. ABT also suggested an over capacity furnace, a bad idea.

Yes, the estimator reached out to our HVAC installers. He needed to verify if the furnace can be vented out along with the existing hot water heater through the chimney. (as this work is outside the standard installation for the furnace). The model that was offered to the customer was comparable to the existing unit in the home. We did not suggest an over capacity furnace, the BTU was less than the one the owner originally has. A new discount promotion was available after the estimate was performed and the savings was passed along to the customer. As far as our pricing, we shop our competition on the hour so our pricing is very competitive.

We actually called Abt over the phone and purchased a dishwasher with a salesman. We knew what we wanted, called initially to see if they had one in the floor to look at, and long story short, we were able to save a trip and bought it over the phone. We were even offered a discount to match a promotion going on in the store. The day of installation, the crew were professional, patient, and cleaned up after themselves. They hauled away our old appliance and had to do a bit of tricky plumbing to fit the new one in. I would definitely use Abt again for appliances. Their customer service was excellent.

The store is some distance from my home, but the drive was worth it. Abt had a fine selection and helpful salesmen. I scheduled delivery for the following Friday. That morning, I received a call that the delivery crew would be at my home in an hour, and they were. Installation went perfectly. They took away the old washer and dryer and hooked up the new ones. One of the installers took the time to explain the details and answer my questions.
