We purchased a freezer from Abt. The unit we wanted was back-ordered. Abt mistakenly charged our credit card right away, which we were not happy about, but they were very apologetic when I pointed this out to them and they issued a $50 credit. Unfortunately, the back-ordered freezer became unavailable (the model was discontinued by GE). Abt worked with us to identify a possible replacement, which we ordered and had delivered, sight unseen. The freezer was totally unacceptable (it was a new model GE which was extremely loud, louder than a vacuum cleaner!). Abt (especially Megan Magnuski in Abt Corporate Sales Division) was extremely understanding. They refunded all our money immediately, and made arrangements to pick up the freezer at no charge the following Saturday. Abt went out of their way to make the best of a bad situation for us. We plan to purchase from them in the future.

Tech finally said he would install the switch on the wall, as I wanted it. He seemed to do an ok job, but I noticed as he was pushing the disposal in place, he pulled my counter OFF THE WALL. I understood cutting into the wall may damage the paint, but I did not care about that. I cared about the functionality of the disposal. Shortly after install, I started using the disposal. After using it a few times, the PVC pipe under the sink came loose, and water went all over the floor. I called ABT Electronics and complained, but they ignored me. I had to reattach the pipes several times, as they did not seem to properly fit. I kept calling ABT, and finally got a response. Someone came out, took pictures of the leak, told me "the water pump on my dishwasher rusted out", asked if it was currently leaking (it was not) and left. The matter has been resolved for the most part. ABT did send someone out in 2005 as they stated in their response, but that was for another issue. The person that came and took pictures was sent by ABT. ABT installed a microwave and dishwasher and did an excellent job. The problems mentioned above were due to a specific installer. ABT has proven to be MUCH better than what I experienced, and has earned my trust. The other installers are all professional and excellent.
Description of Work: I purchased a washer and dryer from ABT, and they did a good job. I decided to purchase a garbage disposal, and the salesman gave me the sale price. In the store, I had good service, and a good price. When the tech came to the house to install, the guy was rude. He wanted to rush, to get in and get out. He wanted to put the switch under the counter. I told him I wanted it on the wall. He pouted, and said it would take time to install it on the wall, he had a busy schedule. He said I would take time away from other installs. He kept trying to suggest installing under the counter.

They were suppose to install a custom surround sound system, that Carl Casata especially designed for our home. We knew nothing about sound systems before we started but we knew what it was suppose to be like, and this was not it (two tiny speakers for main room we were interested in). You can not get music throughout the house unless you use the Sonos System that they installed, but no one could ever show us exactly how to work it and there is supposedly no manual for the system. The people they sent out to help us understand how to use the complicated Sonos system did not know how to work it either. The remote for the system has broken four times in one year. The last time they were out trying to get the Sonos system to work, they were working on my wireless internet computer system and the system went down (Sonos uses wireless internet and while they were working on the router it mysteriously "broke". Coincidence they said.) This system cost $14,000 and has never worked right. Even though I've gone to Costumer Service and begged for help. Costumer service was not overly friendly either. They sent out someone, and as usual, that person did not know how to operate the system. This has been the most horrible experience with a company I have ever had.

The customer elected to have a Sonos Wireless system installed to avoid the costly and invasive process of retrofitting wires in the walls which would further involve cutting holes in the drywall, patching and painting. The Sonos system has been critically praised for its ease of use. We have replaced each one of the remotes that the customers claimed were malfunctioning, even though our technicians at the store found no problem with them. We strive to keep our customers within the 3-8%% return range. These customers have returned or exchanged more than 25%% of everything they have ever purchased. When the customers own router did fail, we called the manufacturer for them and secured them an exchange at no charge. As far as our Customer Service representative not being overly friendly, I apologize, but I do think it is interesting that there is a distinction between friendly and overly friendly. But our organization has acted in good faith throughout this entire process. We have responded to each and every issue the customer has had, but more than a year after the system has been installed, it is not reasonable to expect a full refund. We have been in contact with Sonos and they have expressed a willingness to connect to the customers system remotely, and troubleshoot any problems. If there are actual problems with the system they will be addressed and repaired. We have made several attempts to educate the customers but they did not make themselves available. All of my installers have indicated that no matter what time of day we arrive, they were let in, and the customers indicated that they were going back to sleep. They choose not to learn the system. We have been in business for more than 72 years, and while we strive to satisfy each and every customer, we have come to learn that some people can simply not be satisfied. We are willing to do what we need to do make the system work, and we will work with the customers' and manufacturers to resolve this issue, however, we will not issue a refund more than 15 months after the fact.

ABT called us the day before and scheduled an appointment. They contacted us one more time two hours before the service the next day. Josh came to my house two times (the first time he needed to order some parts) and did a very thorough job for us. He is nice, patient and hardworking. We will definitely request for him the next time.

Circuit boards blew on my 6 month old built in refrigerator purchased from Abt (due to a power surge). Service department sent a tech to diagnose the issue w/in 24 hours. BUT getting them to come back to actually FIX the frig is now 9 days and counting. The parts were supposed to be rush ordered, but never were. They were supposed to call me when the parts came in, but didn't. Even bumping up to the head of the service dept. just got me put on the waiting list for service tomorrow. Service department needs more training in CUSTOMER SERVICE & FOLLOW THROUGH.

After six months of research, comparison shopping, trade shows, consumer reports on line, etc., I visited the Abt showroom. It's completely overwhelming and there are a LOT of salespeople, but not too aggressive. I didn't realize Wolf made a stove that would fit the 30" space of our existing stove until I saw it in the store, beautiful and 4 times over my budget, but I couldn't resist. After another few weeks of comparison shopping, I sent the store an e-mail and received a response within a few hours, negotiated everything via e-mail and two phone calls and the three appliances were installed within the week. We settled on the Wolf stove (gas/convection), Bosch dishwasher and Bosch microwave. They make the rest of our kitchen look dumpy, but that's a story for another day.
Description of Work: Abt sold and installed new dishwasher, stove and microwave, replacing appliances that ranged from 15 to 25 years old. They hauled away our old stuff and cleaned up all of the packing materials. They needed to do some extensive rewiring and installed a gas valve at no additional charge.

I was furious about this. Either she was incompetent or she lied to me.

The company squeezed us in for the repair appointment in about 6 hours. (next regular slot was the next day). The tech diagnosed the problem as a failed fan and replaced it in about 20 minutes. The part was $20 but the service call was $139. The tech was courteous and did clean work. Other than the service call cost this was a great repair experience. We were told that the call was $139 for the visit and the first hour.

Purchased two TVs, full set of Stainless Steel kitchen appliances, smaller electronics, etc... We have been to ABT so many times and we have never had a poor experience! Fresh baked cookies in the store, activities for the kids, knowledgeable salespeople. We always get a great deal, great service. This was the first time we have had to call for a repair. The technician worked with my schedule and was very prompt, courteous and knowledgeable about the product (GE Profile Dishwasher). He was unable to repair the problem as he realized he needed to order a new computer thing (my words!) He had initially assumed that he could come back same day and install it. When he checked with ABT, he found that this part had to be ordered directly from GE and would not be in for a week. He was VERY apologetic about this, even though it was not his fault. When the item came in, they sent out a tech on a day that they normally do not do out calls because it was what worked with my schedule!
