Chris was able to hang the light the same day I called for service. He was at my house within two hours of my initial call. He did a great job assembling the fixture, removing the old one and hanging the new one. I would not hesitate recommending them to friends and neighbors. Thanks for the prompt and professional service!

We did some home improvements last year and have some left over baseboards and bamboo flooring to be installed. Contacted 5 different contractors from Angie's List and Mr. Handyman of Naperville gave us the fair quote for the amount of work needed to be done. We were happy with how Adam handled the job and will definitely hire them in the future.

I was very pleased with them. He used to have his own remodeling business. He was knowledgeable about a lot of things. I wanted a person who was a licensed electrician. I am touchy about electricity and wanted someone who knows what they were doing.
Description of Work: I used Mr. Handyman Of Naperville last Thursday and also in June. They welded my mailbox for me and put on a new one and also replaced an electrical outlet. The last time they replaced some faucets for me.

For the money we spent, the work was FAR from adequate. It's been about 3 months since the work was "completed" and pretty much everything they have done is falling apart. First of all, Al (Mr. Handyman) wasn't at our house once to oversee the work being performed. He told us that it would take 2 weeks "tops" to complete our house. It was actually closer to 3. We weren't living in the house as the work was being done, but we stopped in every night or every other night to see what had been completed. We're pretty sure that the workers only spent 1-3 hours a day on our house before they would go off to some other job or just go home for the day for "personal reasons." The floor in the kitchen squeaked as well as part of the floor in the upstairs hallway, and we were told that they would screw down the sub floor to the beams to help eliminate the squeak. First, we were told that they couldn't screw anything down upstairs because the beams were 24" on center instead of 16" We found out that was a lie. They assured us they would still screw down the main floor in the kitchen. After having to pull up part of the floor in the kitchen, we found out that they didn't screw down the floor as they told us. They put random screws here and there in the sub floor but didn't actually screw anything down. You can see the screws in the floor from the basement. We were told to pick out carpet from Home Depot, which we did, only to find out that his carpet guy was going to use his "top of the line" carpet. It has been 3 months and the "top of the line" carpet already shows tread marks. There's only the 2 of us living here and the carpet doesn't see that much traffic. Also, the carpet/pad on the stair case is slowly inching its way out from the back of each stair, so there's a nice 1-2" gap with no carpet or pad on each stair. Oh and we were charged for the higher quality carpeting from Home Depot instead of the stuff that was actually used. Our house was remodeled through a 203k loan, so all of the cost was wrapped up into the loan. We got a call from Mr. Handyman a couple weeks back saying we owed him an additional $600 because "the bank took out fees that he wasn't told about." At first, I didn't understand and thought he was telling me that we owed the bank that money. Then he told us that we owed it to him and I got suspicious and started asking questions. I asked him what exactly these "fees" were from the bank and why the bank didn't notify us instead. He proceeded to play dumb, told me there was no explanation of the "fees" on this supposed letter he got from the bank and said "Well, we can always work out a payment plan." So I'm supposed to be stupid enough to believe that the bank just sent him a piece of paper that said "Dear Mr. Handyman, please collect $600 from your clients?" I had my boyfriend call the bank and the bank didn't know anything about it. We haven't heard from him since. This man should be reported to the BBB for shady practices. If ANYONE recommends Mr. Handyman to you, please save yourself the headache and money and politely explain that you want work to be done properly, not half***ed. There were many holes and knicks in the wall from the previous owners and instead of using the mesh wiring to cover the holes (and we're not talking about thumb tack holes), they just filled them with putty and apparently didn't bother to sand them out because there are bumps everywhere. Also, there are smaller wear and tear knicks that were supposed to be covered that were not covered. At the end of the job during the "touch up" phase, my boyfriend asked the guy that came out to fill them in and paint over where he had patched. He didn't bother to do that. We had one painter a day up until the last day. It took them the full 3 weeks to paint the house. Their "professional" paint job is far from professional. I ended up repainting one of the rooms myself and it came out better than what they did. We were told that they would use 2 coats of paint on the walls and they only used one. We know this because we can see the old white color coming through in certain areas. Their tape job was abysmal. The tape is already coming down and bubbling in corners where the wall meets the ceiling. I will say that the AC/furnace/sump pump was done correctly. We haven't had any problems with that (yet). The garage door springs were fixed correctly, but the new garage door opener that is mounted to the wall is the cheapest piece of junk I've ever seen. It's such a joy every day to have to punch the button multiple times in multiple areas to get the door to go up. They took down the ceiling lights to paint the ceiling and refused to put them back up for us because "that wasn't on the original bid." They didn't bother putting ANY of the light switch plates or electrical outlet covers back up. We had to do that ourselves. We had to fight with them to get them to put the closet racks back up that they took down in order to paint. We also had to fight with them to get them to put all the blinds back up that they took down in order to paint.
Description of Work: My boyfriend and I bought a house that needed a lot of rehab. We were told by our mortgage broker that Mr. Handyman had a lot of experience and now we wish we had gone with someone else. The work to be done was as follows: New laminate floors in the livingroom/dining room New tile in the kitchen New carpet upstairs Paint the whole interior of the house Reinstall the water heater (it had been previously removed) Fix the furnace/AC Install a sump pump Fix garage door springs Patch and fix holes in walls

First we were quoted by the owner of Mr. Handyman of Naperville that the cost of the work to remove the old countertops and reconnect the plumbing would be approximate 350-400 dollars ($135 for first hour and $45 for each additional hour). We were told to use Mr. Handyman by the granite company that was installing our new countertops. The workman from Mr. Handyman arrived and he noticed that our hardwood floors were recently refinished and he commented on how nice they looked. He decided to put paper down on the wood floors with painter's tape. He determined that he needed someone to help him remove the countertops and disconnect the plumbing in the kitchen, so now we were being charged double time. The next day the granite company installed our new countertops with no problem. The next day the workman from Mr. Handyman arrived. He happened to be the 2nd workman who arrived to help the 1st guy on that first day. He began to reinstall the plumbing and he realized that he did not have the proper supplies, so he had to call someone to go to Home Depot for him, so again we were being charged double time. It took approximately 6-8 hours for him to reconnect the plumbing (faucets, disposal, drain, etc). When he left, he left a mess; did not reconnect the sprayer properly; left his half drunk orange crush bottle in my sink; threw out the bottle to the soap dispenser (so it could not be used); and left the paper taped to the hardwood floor. He also reinstalled the back of the cabinet in my laundry room and to do this he had to saw an opening. He sawed it in my laundry room and left the sawdust everywhere! (This was one of the other misc. handyman work we had done). After he left, I cleaned up the mess and began to remove the paper from our hardwood floors. The tape began to remove the finish off of the floor. We immediately called the owner Alan and informed him of our complaints especially the damage to the hardwood floor. He said that he would send someone that day to look at the damage and no one showed. We have been back and forth for the last 10 months trying to resolve this. We would like our floors repaired or we would have liked to not have been charged, since the work was done incorrectly and they did damage to our home. We have not had a resolution to this point.
Description of Work: They were to take out the old tile countertops in preparation for new granite countertops in our kitchen. They also did small handyman type work in other areas of the house.

Mr. Handyman was very responsive in setting up an appointment and keeping it and arriving on time. The technician worked for over an hour to clear 2 spots that were clogged in my downspouts. He said that he couldn't find anything wrong with one of them. It is still clogged. He installed a new motor for my attic fan and it works well now.

The guy who came out couldn't handle part of the job because he was uncomfortable with getting on a ladder so I had to pay for someone else to come out and help him with the job. I had informed them before he came out that the work that needed to be done was up high. It also took a couple of calls to get them out to do the job initially. After they did the job, I looked at the work and I didn't like what was done. I called them and they came right back out to take care of it. When they came out, they came out on time. All in all, I think I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They repaired some trim work on the top of my chimney.
