Center Guard Plumbing

This company sells extremely high quality products at at a fair price. Charge was exactly as quoted over the phone. No hidden charges. The plumbing (water and gas) part of the work was a thing of beauty (for those who can appreciate this as I do.) This was a completely professional job. Technician Jeff arrived right on time, was nice, knowledgeable, informative, took away the old water heater and cleaned up 100%. Couldn't ask for more.

After finding soaked carpet at the bottom of my basement stairs and a toilet that wouldn't flush in another basement room I called Center Guard. I called the number on their website and they didn't answer despite being open per website hours but I called back 15 minutes later and they answered right away- No big deal. I suspected it was my ejector pump and the nice guy who answered the phone was very courteous and consultative on the phone. He said it seemed that was the problem but explained there is a $75 trip charge to diagnose and if the ejector pump was indeed the issue the trip charge would go towards the $675 replacement cost of an ejector pump. My wife met the technician at their schedule range of times they said they'd arrive between at and she said the tech was very courteous and professional. They had the part in their truck and had it fixed in 45 minutes. Great work- highly recommend! Update12/15/15- So my basement toilet never worked right after the service call above. Over the past year and half I have just dealt with its flushing issues. (I flush and the water doesn't go down right away. After 2-3 more flushes and waiting a few minutes it always ended up going down). I had called a few plumbers and no one seemed to want to tackle it as they weren't sure if it was an ejector pit issue or a venting issue or a clogging issue. It always ended up going down and we rarely use the toilet in the basement so I just left it alone. Last month I had small unrelated leak in my kitchen and while a plumber from a different company was here for that I decide to describe my unresolved issue to him. He says it'd be easy to at least pull the pit cover to see what he can see (as its not a clogging issue b/c I already paid someone $150 to tell me their rodder felt nothing clogged in there). After I explain to him the background of my ejector pump breaking and around that time my toilet seemed to not flush right, even after the pump was replaced by Center Guard, he offers to pull the lid off my ejector pump and take a look (for a fee of course). I agree and the second he walks in to the room he sees some shoddy workmanship. Instead of running the pump's AC wires up against the pipe and through the holes in the rubber grommet, they are coming out along the outer rim of the metal pit cover. I will try to upload a picture. Problem: 1.) MY PIT IS NOT SEALED. SEWER GAS IS ESCAPING FROM EJECTOR PIT INTO MY HOUSE. 2.) ELECTRICAL HAZARD AS THE RIM OF THE METAL LID IS PRESSING INTO AND PINCHING THE AC WIRES. My guess is the technician put the rubber grommet on backwards and there was no where to run the wires where they should, so he cut corners and ran the wires out of the outer rim of the pit. After taking the pit cover off the plumber notices the pit is extremely full and a lot of what is in there has probably been in there for the past year and half. This is because he also noticed the ejector pump itself needed to be lowered almost 18 inches from where it was. The flushed water and waste had no where to dump into when the pit was always full. No wonder my toilet never went back to working correctly after Center Guard was here. So not only did my toilet not begin again work due to the ejector pit installation, it was installed poorly and corners were cut. Beware.

When our old water heater died, I contacted three different companies to get it replaced. Two of them never called me back or contacted me. I chatted with a Center Guard rep right on their website and he called immediately thereafter as promised. He didn't have any trucks in my area for an immediate call but they came out the next morning as promised. Great service, the rep did it all and it looks good. Since the pricing on water heater replacement seems to be pretty much the same, service is key and this was great service. Stay away from the big box stores and support your local (well, OK, Fox Lake is not exactly "local" to me in Chicago :) ) companies. Highly recommend!

Kevin and Ty were here the next morning after I called Center Guard Plumbing. They analyzed the old unit, recommended replacement (old unit was burning outside of combustion chamber), and already had a replacement unit on their large service vehicle. They were prompt, professional, and the price was reasonable. Would use again.

The job went very well. Dan did an excellent job installing my new water heater. He was very professional and did a great job explaining the different steps of the installation. I checked with other plumbing companies and Center Plumbing offered the best value for the price I paid,

Overall, we are extremely happy with Center Guard and cannot hold something so minor against them as it wasn't critical and we can all be forgetful at times. We will call them first when we get around to redoing our master bath to replumb and reroute as needed.

I can't say enough positive things about our experience with the team at Center Guard Plumbing. Our water heater died the night before. I called Center Guard the next morning to see if they could do a quick replacement. The individual who took my call was courteous and professional. She committed to call me back to confirm what the cost would be and when they’d show up. Yes, they quoted a complete cost over the phone! I was called back within 15 minutes to confirm that they could do the replacement that day and provided a two hour window (not a half day) when the team would show up. They were here within the first hour. They brought a team of 3 and each and everyone of them were extremely courteous and professional. They took the time to explain what was going to be done. Without my asking, they explained that they were going to take precautions to protect the path to and from the water heater. They also wrapped the broken unit so that it would leak as it was being removed from the house. They laid down tarps and were extra careful around walls. When finished they took the time to explain the features of the new unit. The work area was left clean and neat. When I paid the bill they were extremely appreciative of our business, and it was completely genuine. This is one of the best service experiences I’ve had. They are on-time, professional, respectful of your property and thorough. The pricing was fair and even when there were a couple of extra things that needed to be done, they didn't try to nickel and dime me for it. Awesome! I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Center Guard Plumbing of Spring Grove, IL was very professional, returning phone calls promptly and calling to let me know when they would be arrive. The quoted price was significantly less than the next competitor. Work was completed in a reasonable time. I would use this company again in the future.

CThey replaced the water heater . Very prompt professional servicemen, arrived promptly and did the work quickly and cleanly. I was really happy about every aspect except the price, I still feel it was high. A wash sink needed to be removed to install the water heater, the water needed to be turned off and a few screws removed and then carry the plastic tub out. I removed the screws myself but the job was $1200. with a 50 gallon heater. I feel this is high. Fortunately I had an Angie's List coupon, but I just feel they added too much for the installation, not understanding the extremely low degree of difficulty of moving the sink.

I like their honesty and that they are on time. They do a good job and I would recommend them.

Received the quote on the phone and scheduled the appointment. Dispatcher got my city wrong and the plumber ended up going to the wrong city on day one. They did get it right the next day and showed up on time. Unfortunately they did not have the same size expansion tank replacement to what I had. I had a 5 gallon tank and they had a 2.5 gallon tank. He assured me it will not make any difference and it should be ok. I am no expert on it. Took his word for it and gave him the go-ahead. Only time will tell whether the assurance was good or bad.

I was pleased with the work. Promptly arrived within the quoted window and two men finished in just over an hour. Cleaned up and swept up when finished.

Our experience with CenterGuard was wonderful. The plumbers were very professional, provided a reasonable yet no gimmick quote. We have had the heater for some time now and it works great with lots of hot water.

After a final walk through for our new house we discovered there was no hot water. After the closing we searched Angies list and called Center Guard Plumbing. That was on Friday afternoon... The company is great! They followed up with phone calls right away and called several times to give me an update on the arrival time. The man showed up exactly when they said he would. He took special care to protect the carpets and he even wiped down the floor in the storage closet where the water heater is located. The entire installation took less than an hour and he took time to go over the operation of the water heater. It couldn't have been easier or more professional.

This is the best plumbing company I've ever had in my entire life. They go above and beyond the call of duty and we've never had an issue where they have had to come back for the same problem. They are timely and they are very quick. They are also very detail oriented. The indvidual we use is named Mike and he has just been a champion. They are also very honest.

Overall, went very well. My retired father was at home for the install, and the installers went through in detail what they were going to replace and showed him how to adjust afterwards. They werent quite as cheap as the big box stores, however, their service and professionalism make up for it.
