Response from Brookside Home Improvement
Gap in a window !!!? Yet the windows are beautiful and functional - ? Damaged wood Trim - Yikes!! I read this and was shocked and thought we had to go back and correct something - read on, that was not the case. I called to see what the problem was and spoke to your husband. I was told there was no gap in a window - the gap was between the window and the wood trim we installed, which would have been caulked and ready to paint, but, after receiving numerous phone calls and e-mails (at one point, you both called from different phones, simultaneously) about the concern of reaction to odor or content of the caulk, that we decided it would be better to simply do no interior finish caulking at all. This customer had other work being done on their home and apparently another contractor used some caulk or adhesive that had a strong odor and triggered an almost panic type of reaction with this customer thinking that the materials we would use would giver her an allergic reaction. Soooooo, no caulk inside, no chance, not a hint of it, none whatsoever, seemed to be the safest route to take for us. Thus, tiny space between trim and window frame - paint alone would fill it. There was no damaged window, period. The cracked trim was not installed - a piece cracked while it was bent to compress for a tight inside miter fit, but it was not used, another piece was cut and installed, the cracked piece was never installed. That is not the type of work we do; we take our job seriously. It would be great if the points mentioned were clarified or corrected to more accurately describe the event - if not, well, all we can do is respond, which we did. Thank you for your business! Eric
