Response from Brookside Home Improvement
Wow, the grades or comment in this review are really unjust. Perhaps the grades are what this member meant for herself, not us? I don't understand your comment on how we charged four times as much. As much as what? The contract amount?? We can't do that. We honor the agreement. This member purchased a Big Deal for gutters and downspouts. I set up a time to meet with her. I was on time, she was not home at the time we agreed on. I started looking over the project and had everything worked out when she showed up, about 30 minutes late. We discussed the job, I provided a cost and we sign a contract to do the work. Gutters, downspouts on the house, a small amount of fascia board to replace with some aluminum fascia and install a few missing aluminum soffit panels. About a week later, she calls and wants an estimate for a garage roof, the garage is much larger than a typical garage. She does not go ahead with the garage roof and claims she can get it done for a fraction of the price, I say, ok, good luck. Then I receive a phone call from a woman who claims she is this members 'general contractor' and wants to add work, rewrite the contract for 'a lower price, because we are adding more work'. She is difficult to understand, does not speak proper English and won't let me finish a sentence and keeps saying she wants a better price because she is giving us more work. I try to tell her that we already have a contract, she is not the owner, and I will only deal with the property owner and we don't do the additional work she is asking for, but, she won't listen or let me talk, "I want a lower price, we give you more work". I hang up and ask the owner to please not have that woman call anymore. We schedule a day for the work, the owner wants to meet again on the day we are to start. She shows up late, again. We go through the job again, add a downspout to the existing garage gutters which is not in our agreement. Explain again that we don't perform repairs existing aluminum siding. I just want to get the job done and part ways. She says she wants to look at the job before she pays the balance due and asks that we call 30 minutes before we complete so she can run over and check it out. Well, I call, leave a voicemail on her cell phone (only number I have). The guys finish. I call again, and leave another voice mail. No response. The guys wait for an hour and she doesn't call and she doesn't answer any more calls, so I leave a voicemail letting her know the guys can't wait any longer for her to show up. Well, apparently she does not think that she needs to respond or pay the balance owed. She does not respond to any phone calls or any e-mails. I don't know if something has happened to her; an accident? A medical or a family emergency? All possible. I send a snail mail letter to her residence and ask that she respond, if something happened that she is unable, I don't know about it, but, I will put a lien on the property as the job has been completed for about 2 weeks and I can't get any response from her. Well, turns out that there was no emergency, she just didn't want to pay, so to avoid the lien, she agrees to pay. Everything was done on time, I was on time for each appointment. I am not perfect, we are not perfect, we know that, but, this review was unjust. We admit our mistakes and faults, but here, there are no mistakes or wrongdoings. Thankfully we very rarely encounter someone of this calibur, we are very fortunate to have thousands of wonderful folks to work with over the last 22 years. If anyone reads this, I hope they are entertained. Eric
