Acoustical Vision

Paul bid out my condo in Lincoln Park Chicago.. I live out of town. He was extremely easy to work with considering I am 600 miles away. Work was completed in one day even though the painters were an hour late to give Paul and his team access to the unit. He waited and called until he reached me rather than leaving. He only charged me $2700 which included universal programmed remote, Blu Ray,3 HDMI flat screens, mounts, and labor. My Condo is on the fourth floor with stair access only. He took care of it all. I did not lift a finger. It could not have gone any smoother. He emailed me the bid, and subsequently, the invoice for work done. I mailed check. Whole process took two weeks although it could have been faster if I wanted it to. Paul was very pleasant and I would use again.

I contacted Acoustical Vision for internet wiring from a third floor unit to a basement office room, mainly because of their awesome reviews on Angie's List. They never returned my call. I can't say what kind of work they do, but they certainly did not see fit to return my call. I used another provider from Angie's list (that got amazing reviews as well) and could absolutely not be more satisfied with them.

I called Paul, the owner, and left a message. He called back within the hour and scheduled a time to come out. I told him we were kind of in a hurry as we were hosting a big party the following week and would like our outdoor speakers and music system to work. He fit us in to his schedule and he and Pedro came out the first day and stayed until 9:00 PM. They worked hard and just weren't able to get everything done (lots of rewiring - plus we had added a few more "projects"), so they came back the next day and stayed late again until all was working for the party. Paul showed me how to use my iPhone to turn Pandora on and control the volume from my phone! I was pretty excited. We now have one universal remote instead of 4! Paul gave us thorough instructions on how to use it and made it very consumer friendly as we are not "techies." Paul has come back twice since most of the work was done just to fine tune things and make sure all our questions were answered. We thought his price was more than fair and felt we got our money's worth. I can't speak highly enough of his professionalism, courtesy, enthusiasm and patience. You can tell his policy is "the customer is always right.." Paul is very knowledgeable and up on all the latest technology. When he left Paul told us to call any time if we had questions or were having any problems. We truly enjoyed working with him. Update June 17: Just wanted to update my review. One of the devices installed was not working properly, so I called Paul. He came out the next day and exchanged the device, making sure everything was working properly before he left. Talk about responsive!

Paul answered my call on a Saturday night, and he was out to do the install the next business day. He and Pedro were very professional and prompt. Paul was very specific and asked me exactly how I wanted my install to look - he wanted to ensure there were no surprises. I purchased a floating shelf on Amazon to hold all my tv items (vcr, wii, roku, etc) after the TV was mounted, so they charged a bit extra to set that up correctly. After 4 hours, Paul/Pedro had the TV up and it looked great. However, I noticed after they left that a small piece of the shelf unit I had purchased was broken, and they had attempted to repair it with zip-ties. I don't know if it came broken or if Paul/Pedro had broken it, but I was upset that that they hadn't even mentioned it. I have since been in touch with Paul and he's sending me money to get a replacement part, which I thought was fair. Lastly, and the main reason why this isn't an overall "A" installation, was because upon taking off the TV from the mount, I noticed that the bracket they had mounted to the wall was ever so slightly off-center, which could only be rectified by hanging the TV all the way to the right side of the bracket (which is how they hung it). I told Paul about this and he said that "[he] absolutely mounted level and any modifications made are out of our control." I had a friend who is a contractor come and check it out - he verified that the bracket install was in fact off kilter. They are nice, professional and prompt - but not perfect.

Left a vmail over memorial day weekend to begin a dialogue regarding work I'm going to have done in a new home. Never called back. Enough said.

We called Paul on Saturday and he was available to wall mount our 3 TVs on Monday. He was very professional, organized and well prepared. He even cleaned up! We will definately use him again!

Paul (and Pedro) were fabulous. Paul is professional, courteous, skilled and prompt. After being impressed during the estimate visit, we promptly scheduled them. Our installation took 3 visits due to a variety of issues (conflicts/timing with other contractors mostly), but that worked well with our schedule. The first visit they got the infrastructure (wiring and speakers) in place, but had to wait to hang the TV until the room was painted. After the room was painted, on the second visit the TV was hung and sound bar too. The third (on a Sunday morning!) the finishing touches were performed and the system was tested. He was a great communicator along the way, was proactive about any scheduling anomalies and didn't leave a mess...the latter being very important as we just moved in and had our place pre-cleaned. Our place is >100 yrs old with plaster/lath walls and he and his team were amply skilled to not make a wreck of our walls especially with all the in wall work/concealing of wires/outlets we needed. He was creative with solutions and didn't just blindly run wires through the path of least resistance (e.g. up through hard wood floors) but truly sought to maintain the integrity of the house, and not just to get the job done in whatever way was easiest. I highly recommend Paul. He really did a top notch job and made me feel valued. He was a hard worker and made sure he left with me knowing and feeling confident that the job was completed to my satisfaction.

Paul and his team were outstanding! Paul answered my first phone call, asked thorough questions about what we were seeking to accomplish, provided an initial quote and booked a time to come out to our house to review our needs and potentially complete the work. Paul called to confirm our appointment and arrived promptly. He did a walk through of all of the work that we wanted to have performed, provided options for each element of the job and agreed to an approach to complete the job. The specific scope of the work we wanted done had some degree of fluidity, leading to a number of changes, and Paul was highly flexible and most importantly, consultative throughout the course of the job. We would highly recommend Acoustical Vision for any A/V related needs you might have. They are true professionals, performing a quality of work that met our very high standards and they were highly responsive.

Paul provided excellent service on mounting 2 Televsions, speakers and wiring my home theater system speaker wires through the walls. They worked diligantly to get everything running and cleaned up in a timely fashion. Paul provided the wall mounts for my tv's and was even able to come up with a creative solution to hide the cable box behind the tv for a clean look. They plugged in my reciever and connected the TV, speakers, Cable Box and PS3 and made sure that everything worked perfectlly. Paul even came back at a later date to attach a HDMI adapter so my HDMI cable didn't push up against the wall. Acoustical Vision is highly recommended for any home theater and tv mounting needs. I would definately use them for my needs again.

I visited their web site on 3/17 and filled out the information for a free consultation. On 3/18 Paul called me and I gave him information of what I needed (hang a 60" LCD TV above the fireplace). The earliest date he said he could stop by would be today - 3/27 at 6:30 pm. I left work early to make sure I would be home in time for the appointment. He was a no-call, no-show. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

. The owner Paul came out, looked the job offer over and sent me a very fair quote the following day. When he and his helper came out they really took their time to do things right, I saw no short cuts. The guys were neat, clean and polite. I really liked not getting over sold a bunch of hyperbole about crazy expensive cables. Paul even offered pull out mounts at a very low price, I think they were good but we had seen some we liked better...again no problem he used those. He was out again to do some more work already. Again I'm very satisfied.

I finally made the decision to mount my TV over a fireplace with a sound bar as my "mini-stereo" system. I chose Paul with acoustical vision to complete the job. He took his time to explain the job over the phone and provide a very fair estimate for the job. He spent about 4 hours at my home doing this work and it turned out wonderful. So neat and clean, it could not look better. I have been researching companies for the past year and finally took the plunge. After the completion of the job with Acoustical Vision, I am glad that I did.

Paul and Pedro arrived at 9:00 am and finished at 1:30 pm. The quality of their work was terrific. My wife gives me grief for "all the wires", so the concealed look met my high expectations. I provided the Sanus bracket and Sanus wall mounted component rack purchased through Crutchfield. I doubt you will find a better overall value based on quality of work and price delivered. From the beginning, Paul was more responsive than others I contacted via Angie's list. Paul is very responsive and wants to deliver a great service experience. I also appreciated Paul was here during the entire installation did the work himself with Pedro's assistance. Based on my research and gut feeling, I decided to go with Acoustical Vision. I felt Paul was motivated to deliver his service and wanted to ensure my satisfaction fully. Reviews to him on Angie's list are very important and gave me peace of mind. This is the first time using Angie's List and now I am looking for other projects to complete. I will definitely have Paul and Accoustical Vision back for more projects.

We purchased a flat-screen television without much thought given to the hassle of mounting it. We realized once we got it home that the only logical place to mount the television was above the fireplace, and this added concerns about how to mount the television safely, how to run cable lines, and how to get power to the television. We called around looking for quotes, and most companies came back in the price range of $900-$1200 dollars, more than we'd spent on the television! Accoustical Vision provided a great price for the work, and what's more, they were able to get out to us QUICKLY! I called on a Sunday morning, not even expecting to hear back until Monday, and got a call back within an hour. They told me they could be out as soon as Monday morning, the day of the BCS Championship no less (unfortunately, it didn't work with my schedule, but they offered!) We arranged for them to come out that Friday. The two-man crew arrived around 10:00 AM. They took care to move furniture and lay out drop cloths to protect our floor and furniture. They put in the new outlet and ran HDMI wire through the wall. They even ran extra cables for a DVD player that we didn't yet have, just so that when we did get it, we'd be able to hook this up easily. There were several holes that had to be placed in the wall to run the wires, which was explained to me in full at the start. They patched the holes and left me with sand-paper to touch up before we painted (again, explained up front that we would need to paint since the patch would need time to dry). We painted ourselves the next day, and voila! No sign whatsoever that the wall had been drilled into. The best part was the final price. I was exactly what we'd discussed before they started the work. All in all, I don't think I could have hoped for a better experience!!

This was the second time over the past two years that I've used Acoustical Vision for a television mount. Paul was on time and professional just as he was on the first visit, and the price was reasonable. Overall, the setup looks great and I am pleased, however, I was disappointed with one aspect of the installation: I spent $150 to replace the existing tilting wall mount with one that would swivel as well, however, the television was mounted slightly too low and therefore does not adequately clear the soundbar speaker which rests on the mantle without a great deal of difficulty. The one and only time I attempted to swivel the television, it could not easily be done without scraping against the top of the soundbar speaker (as evidenced by a couple of minor scratches). The only other option would be to move the speaker to the front of the mantle and angle it with the television accordingly, but that's neither convenient nor desirable. So although I am generally pleased with the job, I do regret spending the extra money on a new mount which now essentially has the same functionality as the that I replaced. As with the first time, the setup looks very clean aesthethically with no exposed wires, and all of the new equipment was properly hooked up, formatted and tested before Paul and his assistant left. I would use Acoustical Vision again in the future and highly recommend them. As promised, Paul returned in April and adjusted the mounting height of the television so that it now clears the sound bar speaker. This had previously been my only issue so updating the overall experience to 'A'. Thank you!

I contacted Accoustical Vision when I needed to replace my tv system's receiver. They helped me to correct a number of things that had not been done correctly when our flat screen tv was installed, including getting our surround sound working again, getting us on a better universal remote and simplifying the operation of our tv, X-box, Netflix and blu-ray player. A few months later when we were having trouble with HD channels, he came back and corrected the problem no charge. Paul also helped solve some problems with my house stereo system that other contractors had said would take an expensive replacement of all my speakers. Paul and Pedro are professional and trustworthy, and did a great job cleaning up after their work was done

Paul and team did a great job mounting our televisions, installing IR systems and running cable cords. Paul finished the job on time and under budget. Paul was very responsive to questions and requests throughout the process...he also sent several follow-up emails after the install to check in and make sure everything was meeting expectations. I was looking for a company to mount a Television and Shelving system and found Acoustical Vision here on Angie's list. I submitted a request for a quote and Paul contacted me the next day. After speaking we set a date for him to do the work and he let me know the time was tenative due to another job he had scheduled. On the date agreed on Paul realizing he was not going to be able to keep the appointment called and we agreed on the next morning. The next morning Paul called to inform me he was enroute and on arrival looked over the job and immediately got to work. He put down drop cloths to keep the area clean and moved items as needed. He was quick and very professional and did a great Job. I am very happy with the work performed.

Although it was difficult to connect Acoustical Vision to schedule the appointment it was worth it. Paul arrived on time once we set a date. He installed a flat panel television and connected our old vcr/dvd player to the new unit. Since I neglected to tell him about the vcr/dvd player, he had to go out to purchase a special electrical cord to accomplish the task. Paul did a great job placing the wires in the wall and installing a new outlet. The plaster work required was completed in a professional way. I definitely will hire Acoustical Vision again if needed.

The installation went well. I added several functions to the project and Paul did a great job understanding what I needed.

Acoustical Vision does an excellent job installing flat screens and setting up you're A/V needs. Paul comes out for a free consultation to view and discuss your needs. After that, a plan is made and a date is scheduled. Paul and his crew work hard to get everything perfect and even vacuum/ clean-up afterward. Paul is a cool person to interact with as well which always helps. I would highly recommend Acoustical Visions' services.

UPDATE: Paul did respond to me after I left him a message immediately following the last missed visit (prior to writing this review). He did set a specific time to come rectify the issue and did so free-of-charge. He was courteous and efficient in fixing the problem and was apologetic about the missed appointments. Combining the first visit and this last visit, he has earned a "B" average, however, the three missed appointments still factor into the adjusted rating of "C" in this review. Paul and the Acoustical team first came to my house in March 2012 to help me install a new TV and Bluray system into an existing surround sound theater set up. As part of that job, they sold me a $250 universal remote to control all four components of the system. Unfortunately, at the time he was here, I didn't yet have my wireless connection device to ensure the Internet streaming was functioning. Paul said they would come back to finish setting it up once I got that device. I also discovered after they left that they had not programmed in some fundamental buttons required for my DVR and my receiver and therefore, I have yet to have a truly universal remote. I've scheduled three times for Paul and his team to come and finish the job as committed. He has promptly answered the initial call and has made a commitment to come by on a specific day in either the morning or afternoon "after [he] finishes with another job." Every time, he has blown me off and not called to explain - today being the latest example over the past few months. He won't set a specific time during the day and therefore, I stay home from the office and wait around the house for him to show up to no avail. I'm left with the conclusion that Paul 1) is not concerned with finishing the work he started, correcting errors made, or customer service, and 2) he sees his time as much more valuable than mine. Therefore, while the first visit was a positive experience, Acoustical Vision is no longer a company I would recommend.

We went with a competitor who was more professional and responsive.
