Description of Work: Problem: Needed more insulation in my attic. | |I don't have the time to do a lot of calling around for estimates. I saw an Angie's list for a deal of the day for $49 for a quote on attic insulation. I spent the money. (Don't ask me why as later I thought quotes should be free, but I expect this is for the cost of taking his time and driving to your home.) | |An appointment date was set and Ryan arrived on time. He brought a ladder (I did tell him to as I don't go up there and there are no steps.) He went half way up with his flashlight and flashed it around and came back down. I expected a quote then, but he said he would email me one. The whole process took about 5 to 8 minutes and he left. | |I got both a mail and email quote for 3 different kinds of insulation R values with information on the company itself. I asked for a breakdown of the quote via email--they don't give breakdowns of labor/cost of material. It is just a one-line amount for each of the 3 types (R-19 [minimum 8 inches], R-30 [[minimum 12 inches], R-38[[minimum 15 inches]) | |Since they also had a deal for $249 for $500 worth of insulation, I emailed back to see if the quote was with the deal. It wasn't, since I had not yet bought it, but they would adjust once I had. | |I bought the deal (so now I'm up to $298). A date was set. The 2 people who showed up were on time and put down tarps from the side door to the attic. The men who showed up were subcontractors for Trela and were very nice. The one who spoke english answered all my questions and explained everything. Luckily I choose the R-30, as I didn't know the height of my attic and it would not have done an R-38. I even went up the ladder to verify that they had put in at least 12 inches from right at the opening--and used his measuring to make sure I was satified--it hit at exactly 12 inches. The man had explained how many bags they used. (Sorry, I feel bad I don't remember his name as he took time with me. He was very good.) | |They picked up the tarps, used a shop vac to clean up some of the insulation around the ladder. | |They did not take payment at this time. He said Trela would send me a bill and I filled out some paperwork to say the job was done and I was satisfied. | |Trela did send a bill via email a day or two later. I had wanted to use a credit card, but note that they have a transaction fee listed on the bill and also I don't like giving my credit card number over the phone as usually you have to give the security number as well. (This is something I wish was explained in the quote as I had not adjusted for this amount from my monthly bills as I expected to use the credit card.) You must pay within 7 days or there is another fee (which I can understand as people are not always quick to pay for services rendered). | |I sent an email to verify the address to send the check, but didn't get a direct response to that, just that I could do credit card over the phone so I just mailed out the check. |I then got a letter with the bill and a self-address stamped envelope. Oh well, I was too quick. | |The total time for the job was about 1 hour from start to finish. (The insulation took about 20 minutes or so.) I should note that the attic is only half the size of the house. | |The ratings are based on the actual insulation work, not the quote.

Description of Work: Added insulation and trap vent for bathroom

Description of Work: They blew in 19 inches of insulation into the attic space above my 22' by 16' family room. Prior to insulating, they inspected the attic space and removed extraneous pieces of lumber and old doors, ensured that all of the can lighting fixtures were ok to insulate over, and installed baffles. They were professional, clean and very accommodating. The difference in price from the original estimate was due to my requesting additional insulation for the space. After one month, during which we have experienced extreme cold weather conditions, the room is substantially warmer and more comfortable. I would use TRELA again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: I wanted to wait to see how the house would feel in the colder weather, I do not need to turn up the thermostat much to keep warm. ( I have it at about 65 F during the day.)

Description of Work: Installed new skylight, did roofing repairs. Good so far. No more leaks. |They were a little slow on the completion of the job(maybe it was a busy time for them) but otherwise, it went well.
