Description of Work: I purchased a new Kilim rug from turkey. A few years ago I bought a larger rug from Afghanistan from minasian. Both rugs are stunning and perfect. They also shampooed a rug I bought elsewhere. And I decided to return the rug I bought elsewhere because minasian could not get out the smell. At minasian they did not charge me to clean the rug I bought elsewhere since they could not remove the smell!

Description of Work: While the general cleaning of the rugs was fine, they made no attempt to make minor repairs (fringe replacement etc) or even discuss with me what they might suggest to maintain the quality appearance of my oriental rugs. I have my rugs cleaned every year (first time in Chicago since moving from DC) and I am accustomed to a more complete customer service experience. I also thought communication was lacking in that they picked up ten rugs and I never heard from them until I called to see what the cleaning schedule might be. As I said the cleaning service was fine but I will look elsewhere this year.

Description of Work: I had an oriental rug with active moth larvae. Minasian treated it in a special chamber in which the temperature is dropped to sub zero, thus killing the eggs without the use of chemicals. Then they hand-shampooed the carpet. Service was excellent. In addition to the Angie discount, I also received a senior discount and a free appraisal.

Description of Work: Moved furniture, picked up rugs. Carefully inspected rugs and the thoroughly hand washed and dried them. Did some repair work on one rug. Kept the rugs while some painting was done at home and returned them at our convenience. Repositioned furniture. Friendly and professional.

 + 0 moreMinasian did an excellent job cleaning my rugs. After the first cleaning of one of my rugs they detected a pet odor and called me about it and cleaned the rug again for no extra charge. I dropped the rugs off myself which resulted in a 20% discount. The rugs were done within the 2 week time period promised. I also purchased 2 rug pads which they cut to the exact same size as my rugs. I was very happy with this company.
Description of Work: Minasian cleaned 2 large oriental rugs (5 x 8 & 8 x 12). Project cost includes cost of 2 rug pads.

 + 1 moreThey did a great job. They were extremely reliable, came when they said they would, returned the rugs when promised, and did an excellent job on both the cleaning and repairs. Their delivery men were very polite. One even offered to sweep (and mop!) the floor after they pulled one of the rugs up because the mat underneath had deteriorated and there was a lot of dust.
Description of Work: They cleaned three area rugs - and repaired two of them. On one rug they replaced the fringe, and on another they repaired damage to the sides.

 + 0 moreThey picked up the rugs at the promised time and brought them back at the promised time. Each time I received a confirmation call the day before pick-up and delivery. The gentlemen collecting and returning the rugs were exceptionally polite. Minasian prices are a great deal cheaper than any other oriental rug cleaner. Their work positively surpasses other local companies.
Description of Work: Excellent. They cleaned two Oriental rugs that I have had for 20+ years. The rugs have been cleaned by other companies and never looked as good as the Minasian cleaning. This cleaning was very challenging as my dying cat preferred this rug, over wooden floors, for her illness. They did an excellent job.

 + 0 moreTHEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT, AND THEY SPENT SOME TIME HELPING ME DETERMINE THE BEST WAY TO DISPLAY MY RUG ON THE WALL. THEY RECOMMENDED A VELCRO METHOD, USED IN A LOT OF MUSEUMS TODAY, WHICH IS WORKING WELL. I WAS VERY CONCERNED THAT THE REDS IN THE RUG WOULD RUN, BUT THEY ASSURED ME IT WOULD BE HAND WASHED TO AVOID THIS. I KNEW I WAS TAKING A CHANCE HAVING THE RUG CLEANED, HOWEVER THERE ARE NOW SEVERAL SPOTS ON THE RUG THAT ARE VIRTUALLY WHITE RATHER THAN THE TAN BACKGROUND (ALMOST SHINY). ALSO, ALONG ONE EDGE OF THE BORDER THE REDS APPEAR TO HAVE RUN. I THINK THE RUG NOW HAS A VERY UNEVEN COLOR APPEARANCE, ALTHOUGH IT IS PROBABLY MUCH MORE OBVIOUS TO ME, BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE BEFORE THE CLEANING. I'M NOT SURE ANOTHER COMPANY WOULD HAVE DONE ANY BETTER, BUT IF I COULD DO IT OVER AGAIN, I WOULD NOT CLEAN THE RUG. WHEN I PICKED UP THE RUG, WE UNROLLED IT AND THERE WERE 3 OR 4 AREAS WHERE CUT THREADS HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THEY FINISHED THESE REPAIRS WHILE I WAIT
Description of Work: I HAVE A 4 X 6 RED AND TAN GEOMETRIC PATTERNED RUG, HANDWOVEN BY AURACANIAN INDIANS IN SOUTH AMERICA, CIRCA 1950. I WANTED THE RUG CLEANED SINCE IT HAD BEEN IN STORAGE FOR 40+ YEARS, AND THEN PREPARED SO THAT I COULD HANG IT ON THE WALL. ALSO SOME LOOSE THREADS NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED. THEY TOOK 3 MONTHS TO CLEAN IT AND KEPT FORGETTING TO CONTACT ME ABOUT AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR. EVENTUALLY, THEY TOLD ME THE RUG WAS WORTHLESS AND THAT I SHOULD THROUGH IT OUT!!!! NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT ANSWER, I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE MY GRANDPARENTS HAD LONG AGO PURCHASED THE RUG. THE COMPANY HAD JUST BEEN BOUGHT OUT BY MINASIAN. I SPOKE WITH 'TOM' WHO ASSURED ME THEY SPECIALIZE IN RESTORATION AND IMMEDIATELY ARRANGED FOR PICK UP. I HAD AN ESTIMATE WITH IN A WEEK, AND IT WAS A PRICE BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS...FOR THE GOOD! I OK'D THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR AND WITHIN ANOTHER 10 DAYS, MY RUG WAS BACK.
