Marc wise and his team at Greenwise are an absolute pleasure to work with in every way. They were very professional in their design and execution of the plan. We had a lot of moving parts with both selection of product and choice of addressing various drainage and grading issues, Marc and his designer Heather Lough were just great in taking our thoughts and wants and turning it into a comprehensive plan and executing it perfectly. Would highly recommend them.

Over the last year, I have seen their customer service and responsiveness go from great to awful. This spring, aside from planting some sod, I could not get them to do any landscaping services in my yard. Despite their promises and my repeated emails and texts, crickets. Is this how you treat a customer that spends thousands of dollars a year? They are great for weekly mowing but that's about it. The latest communication, I emailed their General Manager back on October 8th: Dan, My wife and I have been using Greenwise since we moved to Chicago in the Fall 2014. We will continue to use Greenwise for snow removal and weekly lawn service but nothing else. When we first started using Greenwise, the customer service was outstanding. This year, aside from planting some sod for me and spot seeding, I could not get Greenwise to do any other landscaping type work. I looked back and have at least 10 emails that have never been answered and probably 5-10K in work that simply did not get done this year as a result. I'm very busy and don't have time to wait or chase people around waiting on a response. I've given up and will be using Rocco Fiore next year. I should not have to beg someone to come out and do work at my house or simply respond to my emails or texts. I am sure Rocco would be more than happy to let me give them thousands of dollars of business a year since obviously Greenwise does not value or need my money. I'm very disappointed in the way that we have been treated. I hope we are the only customers that have been treated badly or Greenwise may not be able for very long. No response to date. Marc from Greenwise is great to work with. He is very responsive and provided great feedback and ideas when he came to provide us with a quote. Everyone at Greenwise was professional, and they finished the job on time. They provided updates throughout the project and made sure we were satisfied with the work when the project was completed. The stone pathway that they did far exceeded our expectations. They did a fantastic job, and we will be contacting them for more work in the future.

Greenwise has done a lot for us over the last few years. They planned and installed the garden in front of our house as well as done spring clean ups and fertilization over the the course of a couple of seasons.

They have been great. After a few other unprofessional services, I am very impressed by the organization and service that Greenwise provides.

It's gone great. I get a call letting me know the crew is coming to do the treatment and they leave a note saying they did it. Safe for my kids, animals, other plants. I feel good about the care I'm getting. Might expand next year into doing more w/ him.

The price was on the high side for the time they spent. They were in and out.

They have been great and seem to continue to improve year-after-year. When I first started working with them communication was difficult, but that has completely changed. They are incredibly responsive and their communication has greatly improved along with their services. What's great is that they can be either completely full service or they also allow for DIY'ers to take some control. We recently had our house on the market and needed weekly mowing to keep the lawn in good order. I asked to start the service on a Friday and they were able to start up service on the next Tuesday. Of course on top of the great and knowledgeable service they are ORGANIC! This is very important for me and my family. Just knowing our kids aren't playing in a bunch of chemicals is a really nice feeling. Plus they have low or zero emission mowers as well. So you may pay more, but it is worth it for a lot of reasons.

Marc was very professional and was able to give me an estimate within a few days of my initial phone call and they were able to start the job in about 2 weeks. John was our landscape architect and was very knowledgable and helpful in giving me ideas for plants I may want to plant in the yard and what would work well in the sun. He made a couple trips to give me ideas and show me the rock they would use. They were easy to get a hold of via phone or email, everyone was very professional and helpful. All of the gardeners that worked on the yard were very efficient and professional. They did a great job and left everything neat and clean when they were done. I would highly recommend Greenwise and will use them for maintenance in the future.

The email communication was excellent.

I worked with Chris Rink and his team. On day 1, they completed building two new raised beds in our backyard for our new vegetable garden. I had them excavate a foot down and add a gravel pit for additional drainage. After building the beds, they put in new garden soil. On day 2, they put in a beautiful brick edging that went along the front yard and into the side yard. Overall, I was very happy with the quality and responsiveness of Chris and his team. I would highly recommend them and use their services in the future.

I initially sent an email on 3/15/15 to Greenwise asking for an estimate on a spring clean-up and weekly maintenance. The next day, I got a response thanking me for my interest and telling me they would contact me to schedule for someone to come out for a free consultation and to give me a quote. On 3/18, I missed a call from them, but got an email that they had been out to look at my yard and I should call them back to discuss or set up an appointment. I called back right away, leaving a message with both my work and cell numbers, and followed it up with an email with the same information. I did not hear anything back. I sent a follow-up email through Angie's List message center on 3/23, that I waiting to hear back from them and got a response that they would talk to me shortly. Today is April 2nd. I've heard nothing from them and it's been two weeks since my initial request. If they were too busy, I would like to know that. Also, why did someone come out to look at my yard without letting me know first? There is a serious lack of communication going on here. I was excited to find a company that offered organic services, but I can't deal with someone this unreliable.

Everything went fine, and I would use them again in the future.

I used them for the whole summer, but I didn't see a big difference in my lawn at all. They were professional, on-time, and they did what they were supposed to do, but I didn't see the results I thought I would. I did it myself and I was happy with the results.

This is a great company. Although we usually have no problem doing our own snow removal for our single-family home, we often go out of town for several weeks during the winter or for other reasons are unable to shovel.. We have used various companies in the past, and there were always problems (didn't come when promised, did more or less than requested, etc). Greenwise caught my eye because they offer "organic lawn care," and I have a native plant garden. They were easy to reach and extremely responsive. They offer a choice of plans: fixed price total season snow removal, 5-visit package, 10-visit package, or single visits on request. Depending on the plan, there may be an extra charge for removal of accumulations over 6 or 9 inches. "Eco-friendly ice melt" costs extra if you choose it; that service is expensive but not out of line with the cost of the deicing product. Compared to what I've seen and paid previously, their prices are very reasonable. In the process of deciding which plan to choose I called and spoke with Greenwise staff multiple times. At one point I apologized for being such a frequent caller, and they kindly reassured me that I should feel free to call whenever I needed to. I chose a five-visit package; I call or email them to "activate" or "deactivate" visits. When we were out of town recently I activated the services; they came for two snowfalls. When we returned I deactivated the service, so I still have three visits left to use when needed. Our housesitter reported that both times it snowed in our absence the crew came out promptly and did a good job. Greenwise seems very organized, sending emails whenever snow is forecast and then again when they activate their routes. They also email when icy conditions are predicted, so you can request de-icing services. We are so pleased with their services we may sign up for total season services next year.

They fired me because I was not happy with several of the things and I guess I kept bugging them about it. So they decided what I wanted, they didn't want to provide.

Very informative when came out for estimate on routine organic lawn treatments, educating me on many aspects of my landscape decisions beyond what I was expecting, and I really appreciated that. We chose the Green Program which is five annual organic treatments including weed management and fall aeration. We've only had two treatments so far but the lawn looks good. Would consider them also for future landscaping needs as they provide a variety of other landscape services.

Jessica and her team were terrific. She was cheerful and professional and explained a few options we had for pruning our bushes for winter. The yard looked terrific when they were done and will call them again in the spring to do more great work.

They did a good job of aerating the yard--no problems on the technical side. We had used them last year also. The problem lay in (1) the delay in doing it, and (2) the lack of responsiveness in the office. (1) We had wanted the aeration to be done early enough so theat the yard could be reseeded. By the time they sent out the technician it was too cold. (2) I had called the office and asked to be contacted with the date and approximate time the technician would come, as I wanted to ask some questions about the yard. This was not done, and I could not talk to the technician. Overall--they charge a high price, which is worth it provided they do a good job. The technical side is fine, but they need to tighten up the administration.

Mark Greenwise is a wonderful person with whom to work Mark is professional ,personable,and very knowledgeable. His staff mirror his qualities. My initial contact was with someone in scheduling. Based on previous reviews, I was very clear about my address and made a point to ensure I was in the service area. I was told I was in the service area so I proceeded to make an appointment for a consultation. Unfortunately, I really wasn't in the service area. I found this out because Marc Wise called to say he was going to be late for the appointment and wanted to confirm my location. When Marc realized where I was, he said that they wouldn't be able to help me. He did say that he would be willing to vet other companies I was thinking of contacting. That was a nice offer but I would have preferred to have been shot down by scheduling, not while I was home waiting to keep the consultation appointment.

They have been recipients of excellent customer service in the past and it is well deserved. Our "lawn" was a weedy mess prior to having the Greenwise folks take over the care. I had been told by another company that we would have to lay sod instead of working with what little grass was left. Greenwise rejuvenated our grass over the course of the summer...it is still in the recovery phase but it looks sooo much better than how it began and it was done without weed killer, pesticides, etc. Their communication skills are outstanding. Emails go out in a very timely fashion to explain rain delays, holiday schedules, etc. Mike is available by phone to answer questions. I also have landscaping planned for the Spring with them as well. Same professional, prompt attention given by the landscape designer referred to me.
