They were good at what they do.

Overall, a very good experience. Joe gave me a couple of options-to fortify all the legs of the table to prevent future breakage or to simply glue the two broken legs back on. I chose the less expensive option, to glue the legs back on and was pleased with the outcome. Joe stayed late on Saturday and came in on Sunday to assist with my pickup/drop off needs.

Devontry picked up the table (hauling it down two flights of stairs), called me with a diagnosis and refinished the scratch. The table is solid again and the scratch is gone.

Very efficient and careful pick-up and delivery. Joe finished the project even before his estimated time, and worked around our scheduling needs.

We delivered the chest to the shop. They carried it from the car to the workshop, provided the estimate and had the work completed more quickly than anticipated.

I left two phone messages a week apart before Joe called apologetically and we discussed what the table needed and what he thought he could do, gave me a ballpark estimate, and suggested I email photos of the table to him. Seven work days later I called to check on the estimate. I spoke to Becky who said the subcontractor who takes care of their email was on vacation so they hadn t seen my messages or photos. She asked me to repeat all the info I d given to Joe and put in the email. She then suggested Joe squeeze a visit to our house in since we live close to the shop. Joe called the next day and said he didn t want to waste time with a home visit, pictures should be good enough, and gave a final competitive estimate; however, he warned that if some veneer needed to be replaced the job could run $300 more. The people were very friendly on the phone and Joe sounded generally knowledgeable, but we weren t confident enough to give them this job.

Very smooth. I called them, they said to bring the tables in, I did, they gave me a quote, it sounded fair and reasonable, they called me in a few days and I picked up my tables, they were repaired very well. They are very competent and fair.

One of the legs on a dining room chair splintered and broke. I called Devontry and they told me to drop the chair off the next day and estimated the work would take a week. They called back the next day - the chair was repaired! They were pleasant, prompt, extremely professional and a real pleasure to work with.

They did an excellent job, it was virtually impossible to tell the restored sections from the original.

$600 for the work and $200 for pick up and delivery.

They were wonderfully responsive, friendly, and enthusiastic about their work (which sounded marvelous), but are so busy they could not start on the project for two and a half months! Keep this in mind if you consider using them.

THE OAK HUTCHES ARE STUNNING. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I AM SO VERY GLAD I SAVED THEM, ESPECIALLY AS THEY ARE ORIGINAL TO THE HOUSE. I KNEW THAT THE VALUE OF THE HUTCHES DID NOT EQUAL THE COST TO REFINISH. I ALSO KNEW THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO ME TO RESTORE THEM TO THEIR ORIGINAL LUSTER & KEEP THEM IN THEIR HOME. AT TIMES, REFINISHES ARE MOTIVATED MORE BY EMOTION THAN FINANCIAL PRUDENCE. JOE'S WORK IS MORE "OLD WORLD" & HIS WORKSHOP IS INTERESTING. HE IS BUSY, SO HE IS NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO KEEP THE DELIVERY DATE HE INTENDS. BE SURE TO ASK FOR PRICING WHEN YOU DISCUSS CHANGES TO THE ORDER OVER THE PHONE. JOE IS SO ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT HIS WORK THAT IT COMES THROUGH & HE RECOMMENDS DOING THE UTMOST BEST. IN HIS ENTHUSIASM YOU CAN GET LOST, AGREE, & THEN REALIZE THAT YOU PAID MORE THAN YOU PLANNED FOR THE CHANGE. JOE IS NOT DECEIVING IN ANY WAY, IT IS HIS PASSION & PROBABLY CLIENT BASE. I HAVE ANOTHER PIECE THAT I WILL NO DOUBT TAKE TO JOE. I GET REGULAR HUTCH COMPLIMENTS.

JOB 1: THE TABLE LOOKS WONDERFUL & MY GRANDMOTHER WOULD BE PROUD TO SEE IT RESTORED BEYOND ITS ORIGINAL BEAUTY. THE LEAVES ARE BUILT OF TOP-QUALITY OAK & THE EDGING, APRON AND FINISH ARE A PERFECT MATCH TO THE ORIGINAL TABLE. JOE REPAIRED DAMAGED VENEER AROUND THE ORIGINAL APRON & ON THE TOP SURFACE SO THAT THE TABLE DOES NOT SHOW ITS YEARS OF ABUSE. DEVONTRY IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE PRICE IF YOU HAVE A PIECE THAT YOU TRULY CARE ABOUT. JOB 2: HE CAME TO MY HOME FIRST TO DETERMINE IF THE PIECE WOULD FIT SIMPLY BY REMOVING THE FEET & CROWN-MOLDING. AFTER HE DETERMINED THAT THIS WOULD STILL BE TOO TIGHT, HE OFFERED TO TAKE THE ARMOIRE TO HIS WORKSHOP & CUT IT IN HALF. JOSEF MADE SURE THAT YOU COULD NOT SEE THE CUT LINES & THAT ENOUGH REINFORCEMENT WAS ADDED TO ENSURE THE STABILITY OF THE PIECE. HE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE TO BE SURE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE ARMOIRE IN & FOLLOWED UP WITH A PHONE CALL AFTER THE FINAL DELIVERY.

JOSEF BIRGMANN WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THE BUGGY AND KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. IT DID TAKE A LITTLE LONGER THAN EXPECTED, BUT WAS WELL WORTH IT!

THE CHAIR LOOKS FANTASTIC. YOU WOULD NOT KNOW THAT IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED. I WOULD CERTAINLY USE DEVONTRY AGAIN.
