Description of Work: Needed a larger opening in our sewage pipe for clean out and assisted us with documenting with the City of Chicago that the main sewage line that our home feeds into has clasped. Was a bigger job than I think they estimated but completed all the work and cleaned behind themselves. They have not asked for more that the original quote.

Description of Work: Routed out sewer blockage- we had back up. They did a thorough job and gave an accurate assessment of our root problem, as confirmed by a 2nd opinion. These guys know what they are doing and are honest about it, although a bit pricey...

Description of Work: Company said voucher is only for clearing a blocked toilet or sink. They refuse to clear a main sewer line. They would not even provide a price for clearing a sewer line. We are very dissatisfied, this seems like a bait and switch.

Description of Work: Inspected system that was not working properly. Discovered blocked air flow and corrected that problem. Tightened various connections to reduce vibration. System worked well after service visit.

Description of Work: The provider initially replaced part of the shower plumbing and charged me $200. Unfortunately the leak did not stop. He went off and bought another replacement part for the shower leak, This time it worked. However he then recharged me me $200. The intial work was all his mistake. I had been double charged!!!!!!!

Description of Work: It took American Vintage 10 days in the summer time to come out and look at our air conditioner, which was making noise, but not working at all. They determined that the condenser unit needed to be replaced. No repair was done, but I paid for a service call and 1.5 hours of repair work, a little over $300. American Vintage explained that someone would follow-up, and likely an engineer would need to come out, review our system and provide an estimate. We waited a week, and no one ever followed up from American Vintage. We contact Northstar, who diagnosed the problem differently, and had installer out to replace the blower unit within a few days. I can't recommend American Vintage, although I have used them in the past.

Description of Work: I had them out to fix a blocked sewer line. The plumber couldn't find the clean out where he expected it, and informed me it would be very expensive and take two guys to go through the toilet instead. After he left I looked up what a "clean out" was, did one walk around the house and spotted it right away. When I called back to say I found it, the plumber didn't return my call and the receptionist gave me an appt for two days later. I decided to go with a different company and everything was fixed and running promptly.

Description of Work: Went well. Replaced a thermostat and had us back in warm and cozy surroundings in 20 minutes or less. Came out on very short notice.

Description of Work: We needed a new boiler for our very odd house that has some unique challenges. I spoke with several companies first. Theres was not the lowest estimate they were the only ones able to fix the boiler temporarily allowing us time to research our options so we went with them. I've also used them in the past for air conditioning problems. When 2 other companies told me I needed a new air conditioner they solved the problem without replacing it.

Description of Work: This company installed space paks for two floors of living space on a 100+ year old house. The cost was more than I planned on spending but Marek Mroz explained all charges thoroughly and even discussed options with me knowing that finances would be a consideration. The proposal was very professionally done and he was willing to take the time to go through each option and its pros and cons. I never felt pressured to take every option that was offered and Marek was very helpful in indicating which ones were not that necessary or could be added later if needed without incurring additional expense beyond what was initially proposed. The workmen were very professional at all times and cleaned up completely at the end of each day. They tried to be as undisruptive as possible and when necessary, I was able to leave them alone in the house to work. After the work was completed I was given a complete explanation of the system and how to work the high tech thermostat. I've used the airconditioner several times already this season and it appears to be in perfect working order. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has a very old and quirky house that needs expert handling on any installation work. That was a major consideration for me in choosing this company to install the space paks for air conditioning.

Description of Work: American Vintage came out and gave me a quote, but they didn't actually do any work for me. I have a 2 flat home that I own and rent out and I needed to get a new furnace installed. They really took a lot of time at assessing what was there and assessing what the home was and bringing in an engineer to figure out exactly what was needed. They didn't want to do too much or too little. If you have a vintage home I think they would be able to work with you and maintain your vintage home but also update your heating and cooling. I got the impression that they specialize in vintage homes. I think their quote was about 60% higher than the company I actually ended up choosing, and I didn't want to pay that much for a rental property.
