Mark has been professional, prompt, honest, courteous and best of all, his team has been providing great service. I initially planned on only hiring them for the Spring clean-up, but Mark offered me such a fantastic rate that I took the plunge to have Ross & Jack's provide full service. So far, everything has been great. My yard looks fantastic, smells great and I could not be happier with the quality of work. They even maintained things perfectly when I went on an extended vacation so that I could come back to a beautifully maintained home.

Mike was very professional and easy to communicate with. Worked with my budget deliver what I wanted. On time and very neat and meticulous. Beautiful work and quality materials will use again.

Mike came out to house to take pictures and talk a bit about likes and any ideas you might have.Gave an estimate via email,drew up the plans and came to do the work.One thing about Mike is he's very patient as far as your questions and concerns.During and after the actual work being done he gives you all the info you need on upkeep and on how your plants will grow.He is concerned that you are happy with the plan to the point of running to another nursery to change out some accent plants,which I didn't make him do:) I trusted his judgement and it all worked out.Cant wait for it all to take hold and bloom now!

Really, really great. Being a new home owner, I did not know that spring clean ups need to be scheduled before the lawn mowing season starts- March/April. Once the lawn mowing season starts, all the workforce is busy fulfilling lawn maintenance contracts. I chose Ross & Jacks because they were highly recommended on Angie's List. Now I see why. Even though they are at their busiest season, they agreed to help me and came out the same day I called (a Saturday) reviewed my large property, walked me through the specific details of their service and offered a very fair price and came out the next Saturday. What I really liked is that you can see that they have a real eye for what needs to be done for your yard to look the best, they have high standards for the outcome and show pride and passion for what they do. They really deserve the success they are having. My yard is done and it looks great! I would recommend this family owned business to anyone.

Our house?s landscaping had been modest to start with and then suffered 20 years of benign neglect. As a result we had overgrown bushes and trees, non-growing patches of lawn, and an overall mess! Half of our front walkway and part of our windows were blocked with out-of-control bushes. In addition, our retaining wall had degenerated into piles of rocks, and our sump pump outlet piping was unsightly and left the backyard wet and muddy much of the time. We asked Ross & Jack?s for a quote on the following: · Remove all the old bushes and a couple of minor trees · Start over with new low maintenance landscaping · Replace the retaining wall · Run the sump pump water underground to the farthest (and lowest) corner of our lot · Address the sad state of the lawn Michael Spatola, General Manager of Ross & Jack?s Landscaping, made an appointment to visit us and arrived right on time. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and we felt very comfortable working with him. He had some great ideas which actually saved us a lot of money. He suggested deconstructing the retaining wall, power washing the stones, and then rebuilding it, so there was a lot of labor but no materials. This worked out beautifully. He also suggested reseeding the lawn instead of using sod, as he advised that this would provide a better long term solution. Naturally, it was also far less expensive. I asked Michael who would supervise the crew and be our contact during the work. He said he would be personally onsite every day, and he certainly was! When some minor issues arose, he was extremely responsive and accommodating. Overall we had about 60 plants installed. Most impressive are the 10 Arborvitae, which are about 6 feet tall and provide instant privacy and a green backdrop at the back end of our yard. I wasn?t expecting such substantial plants, but they were just what we needed there. Our front has new bushes and plants, as well as mulch and decorative stone. Now we can walk on our sidewalk and look out our windows without difficulty! Many neighbors have stopped by to say what a nice change it is! The retaining wall looks beautiful. This was a huge job for the crew, as it is a long wall, and the stones had to be transported to the other end of the driveway for power washing and then transported back to the wall for careful leveling and re-assembly. Our sump pump now discharges into a 4 inch solid PVC pipe that runs free-draining underground for about 85 feet to the far end of the yard. No more unsightly piping in the yard, and no more muddy mess! Michael also suggested a short underground run from our front gutter downspout to take water there away from the house. This was a very welcome suggestion, and should ease the work of our sump pump during heavy rains. Overall we are delighted with the results and have the utmost respect for Michael?s professional advice, integrity, and ability to deliver as promised. Ross & Jack?s did a great job for us and delivered good value with no problems or regrets! I heartily recommend them to others.

I used the "Contact Us" form on the company's website and simply never heard back. It's true, I wrote in ahead of the mowing season by a month or so, but I was shopping around and getting quotes. I heard nothing, which is aggravating given the other reviews and given I was eager to try a new company. I feel like my request -- for simple mowing -- was too small for them. UPDATE 5/19/13: Ross & Jack's saw this review right away and both called me and emailed me. Apparently an email had been written to me right after I first contacted them, but I did not receive it. The email said Ross & Jack's does not serve my area, and they referred me to another company. I already have my service for the year, so I don't need an alternative. But Ross & Jack's kept in line with the previous reviews I've seen on Angie's List in that the GM attempted to reconcile the situation right away when there was a problem. The response was encouraging, and too bad they don't serve my area. Thank you for the note and call, Ross & Jack's, but as you don't serve my area (that was a little surprising as Bloomingdale isn't *that* far from Schaumburg) I can't even say I'd keep you in mind for next year, though I would have said that.

This was a wonderful experience! We greatly appreciate the fact that Mark stops by to make sure all is well, not that he has to because the men were very professional and did their work paying attention to all details. It is that attention to detail and pride in work that is rare. Mark is very helpful and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to a long relationship with Ross & Jack's Landscaping

Since the May through November contract is now over I probably won't hire Ross & Jack's to do my lawn maintenance again with their current contract and pricing structure: however I will consider reviewing the terms of the contract, making sure that there is a clear understanding of what I want done and what I do not. I understand that they want my property to be maintained completing all the items on their list BUT I do not feel I required certain services. The Account Executive was high pressure when I indicated something not be done (such as putting fertilizer on my back lawn because of my dog) he insisted that it wouldn't hurt the animal and it should be done. Again this was his striving for everything to be just perfect -- while I have reasons some things such as no fertilizer in the back. He did would notify me as to the day so I could keep the dog off the back yard...this however meant I had to take the dog on the leash out front for the ensuing 24 hours. Difficult for me ...

I decided not to go with Ross and Jack's but will consider them in the future. It was evident he has a lot of experience and would have done a good job. I liked the itemized quote.

My family recently moved to town. We were excited about the new house, but the landscaping left much to be desired. It was just an eyesore. I spoke to 4 or 5 landscaping companies before deciding to go with Ross and Jacks. Some of the other companies offered some impressive proposals. One even came with beautiful color sketches and a powerpoint presentation. We decided to go with Ross and Jacks because they had good ideas for the overhaul of our front yard, the price was fair, and they were unquestionable the most responsive and professional. The work they did was amazing. All of our neighbors came over to both compliment the new work and to thank us for doing away with the previous eyesore and making the neighborhood more attractive. 1 neighbor drove right past her house, as she was too busy gazing at our new curb appeal. In fact, the landscaping made such a dramatic difference to the yard, garden and even the ability to see our house, that a neighbor's friend asked the neighbor if the house was new. Ross and Jacks has always been incredibly responsive. The customer service is terrific. I don't have to call 1000 times. My calls are always either answered or returned quickly. And, in fact, I receive calls from Ross and Jacks who call just to check on things. When we've had a minor concern or two, someone always came by quickly to check things out. We will continue to use Ross and Jacks for ongoing maintenance and cleanup, and we look forward to Ross and Jacks overhauling the landscaping behind the house in the future.he

I first contacted Mark via email through Angies list, I received a prompt reply. Some time passed because we were not ready and when I contacted them again, they responded quickly. Mark came out and meet with my Husband who explained all the things we were interested in some repair and maintenance to our Slate Patio, some collapsed French Drains, a problem area where we leave our grills and just some overall "pretty" before we put the house on the market. Mark promised a quote the next day - bingo we had it that night. We were still unsure and about 3 days later Mark called - left a message and said he thought he could do better with the quote. Bingo - the next day we received a new quote - - and "offer we couldn't refuse". We sent the down payment and they scheduled us for a couple weeks out. After some confusion as to the firm date - they came out as promised. I want to tell you it was worth it ! They did a great job - the place looks great - all around the property ! Too bad we are moving out of state - - - we could use them where we are going !

We have been very pleased with them. I think that they are a very good company. They take very good care in the maintenance department, and they give you great suggestions. I would highly recommend them.

Showed up at the appointed time - owner went over all work to be performed with me and the 2 employees handling the job. The owner came back in the early afternoon and again did a walk around with me, seeking my input and satisfaction. All cuttings were removed from my yard as well as plants removed. The entire yard - front, sides and rear were immaculate.Professional, highly experienced employees and "hands-on" ownership made this an EXCELLENT experience.

Our flowerbed looked like an overgrown mess with only a couple short weeks before our weekend company of old friends was scheduled to arrive and visit our home for the first time. Yikes! Ross & Jack's was very prompt to communicate and stop by our home for talking about our project and giving an estimate. In fact, the manager was in our area, and stopped by within an hour or so of our initial call. We were offered a range of ideas and prices, and chose a simple clean up to fit our current budget. We were scheduled in plenty of time for our big weekend event. The work by this company was beyond expectation. Despite just asking for a simple clean up and mulching, Our flowerbed and yard appearance improved drastically. Their work was detailed and professional. Even the area under our deck, normally a weedy neglected, was edged and mulched. Our guests commented on how nice our yard looks, the results make me smile.The management seemed very knowledgeable, and offered tips and ideas for future upkeep and improvements as well. Thank you, Ross & Jack's for your detailed work, contributing to a successful weekend gathering of old friends.

It went great. Mark & Michael are great to work with, very responsive, easy to talk to. Their guys did a great job. We signed up for weekly maintenance as well. We may also have them do some landscape improvements.

The company's owner, Mark, came out to give me a quote on getting sod for my entire front lawn (it was looking really bad at the time). Mark was honest, telling me I didn't need sod and also giving some tips for improvement that didn't have any benefit to him. I booked his company to do a big-time cleanup of my garden, put down grass seed where it was needed, and then regularly maintain the lawn and garden. They did a great job and the lawn has never looked this good since I've moved in. Mark is professional, attentive, and responsive.

Work need was quickly sized up and all work that was verbally described and written on estimate was done. Even a few low hanging tree branches were trimmed. Mark called on the day I left a message and stopped by that afternoon to view property and provide the estimate. He scheduled for the following week but showed up the next day around 11 am because he was in the neighorhood. Crew was very thorough and did a workman like job. Spring clean up 350.00 Fertilizer 50.00 Weed control for dandelion, crabgrass, and broadleaf weeds 100.00 It may have been Mark's sales talk but he dispensed quite a bit of information about the industry and sounded very up front in his description of the industry, the work that could be done and its extent and limitations. In short, he took the time to have a conversation about what could be expected from his own company and others and what to watch out for. I would use their services again .

They are committed to excellence, always on time, and we are very happy with them. We had a very poor landscape in our yard, and they were able to get it in excellent shape. They do a wonderful job.

Very professional and responsive. Made sure all was completed to our satisfaction. We continue to use them for our seasonable clean ups as well weekly lawn maintenance.

The experience was great from design concept/estimate to completion. The initial estimate was much less than others and I was never asked for more money. The crew arrived when I was told they would and they finished on schedule. The owner even stopped by during the install and threw in a couple of plants because he thought it would take the design "from a 10 to an 11". The owner continued to stop by throughout the summer to check on the new plantings, offer me advice to insure growth, and even do a little pruning himself. On one of his visits, he mentioned a few ideas to change plant layout to improve the look yet again. He is planning on sending a crew over this spring to make the changes at no cost. It is obvious he is passionate about his work and his company. I have and will continue to recommend Ross & Jack's to friends, family, and neighbors.

Last spring I had 3 companies give us estimates for spring clean up and general lawn care. I found Ross & Jack's Landscaping from a coupon book that came in the mail. Mike came out and I could clearly see the pride and passion he has for his company and lawn care. I also like his/their level of commitment to their clients AND employees. Ross & Jack's Landscaping beat out the others hands down! Their prices are comparable and fair across the board but what I really like best is the accessability and incredibly fast response when I have a question. I can always reach someone (if no answer I left a message maybe 2-3 times and got a call back within a couple of hours every time) and once a decision is made they get it done! My husband and I decided we wanted to add some mulch to our back yard so I called and Mark came out right away to give me an estimate. Once we decided (a day or two later) to go ahead with it, they showed up the next morning and did the whole thing in less than an hour and then were gone!Their weekly service is great and fast. Plus, I am looking forward to beautifying our lawn every year with some landscaping projects! Mike and Mark are both super nice accommodating guys that will do whatever they can to be of service to you. I am happy to continue to give our business to a company with good people running it and the know-how to do it well!

Things have gone well. It is difficult to actually describe the service from start to finish for their work has been a continual process. Each year, more work is delegated to them and they accomplish a fabulous job. Mark, the owner, takes great care in providing excellent service. These workers have provided phenomenal work in cold, rain, and heat. That doesn't matter. Their work is still wonderful.I would allow any of the workers free access inside my home.

We have been using Ross and Jacks for the last 3 years. Before we started using them we changed landscaping companies every season, but I was so relieved to have finally found one that was worth sticking with. I can't say that they are the least expensive of the companies that we used, but they are not the most expensive either. Anytime I have a question I can call or send and email and I get a response almost immediately. The guys doing the work every week do an awesome job, and anytime I want something extra done they are happy to take care of it on the spot, I don't have to wait until the next week.

Ross and Jack's has been doing my lawn service for two years. One of their employees made a terrible mistake that wrecked my yard right before I was having a big party. Mark Serphin at Ross & Jack's was extremely responsive trying to fix the problem in a way that was acceptable to me. As a result, my lawn looked fabulous for the party and will continue to look great in the future. I was extremely pleased with the result, and I give Ross & Jacks a lot of credit for doing the right thing. Any company is only as good as its worst employee, but what is REALLY important is how they address the situation, and Ross & Jack's really came through. Thank you.
