Description of Work: Ordered railings. Very nice. Ordered shutters as well but due to I level surface of bricks (design) his would not work on our house. We were credited. We appreciated the advice given regarding shutters for our home.

We had a new concrete platform and front steps poured in the fall of 2011. I called several companies, including Railings & Things, for an estimate on building and installing a new wrought iron railing. The representative (Cary) came out promptly, measured and gave us a price. I called him back the following week and we confirmed the design chosen and time frame for completion. I sent him a 50% deposit. Once he received the deposit, someone came out and re-checked the measurements. We did not have to be home for that. When the railing was built, before being sent out for powder coating, the installers brought it over to make sure it was the correct size. They made a couple of alterations to it right there, checked again, then took it to be sent out for powder coating. A few weeks later I received a call that it was ready to be installed so we set a date and time. We had a bad storm that morning so I thought they would need to call to reschedule so I left the house for an unexpected doctor appointment. When I returned, the railing was already installed and looked beautiful. Cary sent me an invoice for the final payment and I sent him a check. We are very pleased with the workmanship and service we received. He gave us good feedback on some ideas we had and his quote was reasonable. We would definitely recommend his work to others.

I called to inquire about new railings. Using their website I was able to describe in detail what I was looking for. Cary came out that same afternoon and measured, giving us a quote. We were able to schedule the work within 2 weeks. The installers were efficient and very professional. We are very pleased with our new railings and would definitely recommend Railings and Things.

The owner came out to check the site and give us a quote. Then a second person came out and double-checked everything. Then the service person called and setup an appointment. They arrived on time and were very careful with everything they did and the job they did was a difficult job with 18 stairs and a landing and it was all a one piece railing.. He went above and beyond and even touched up some railings that he didn't have to do. The railing he put up is so sturdy I can't believe it. It's just beautiful. I didn't have to constantly check up on what they were doing. They even verified that they did the job well and I did agree that this was so. I would recommend this company for anybody. Even my neighbors are impressed with the work. They also did a different front railing for me last year. They were all very nice people that I dealt with.

They came out the day after I called them. They came when I told them I was available, which was great. I explained what we needed. He came back with a quick estimate. We decided we wanted them to do the work so we mailed them a check for the deposit. This is where I wished they had communicated more. I had called before sending the check and they said someone would come out and do the exact measurements after they got the deposit. We noticed that the check was cashed, but we didn't hear anything. A couple weeks later I called them to find out what was going on, and thats when they said they were coming out to install the railing. It would have been nice to get a status call saying someone had been out to do the measurements, and an estimate of the actual install date. They came and installed the railing, and it is perfect. Exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

They came out gave us an estimate and we liked the estimate so we went ahead with the project. Once they received half the total they ordered material and set a date. In just under a half-day the railings were in and it looks beautiful. Our Mother can now go up and down the stairs safetly and quickly. The crew was very professional and neat. They did an awesome job!!!!

I was surprised to find out that this company is nothing but a brokerage. In other words, this company is not a company but sublets their work out to another company, who lets their work out to another company. They came out unexpectedly with this railing and it was the wrong size and the wrong style. They did everything they could to fit it in until I decided that it was not what I had ordered. They had to take it back and redo it again, which delayed it another week from when they were here originally. I talked to the owner, and I think his name is Cary Zec, and he said that he had to give up his company years ago and he now sub-contracts his work out. I was quite surprised at that because I thought that the company was the company and that he was the company. He apologized for the mistake but I was kind of disappointed. The work probably could have been better and the installation could have been a little better. They had cut out the old steel that was in the concrete with a power blower and made a pretty good-sized hole there, and then they came back with a railing in one piece that did fit, but they were awful sloppy in putting the quick-drying concrete into place. My wife and I had to come back out and scrape it off the asphalt part of my driveway and part of the steps. It could have been better but you never know. The man was nice and very pleasant and I got $50 off for being an Angie's List member but I was kind of disappointed that he wasn't really representing himself there. The pricing was probably moderate but there are very few people who do this kind of work in our area. The choice of contractors to do this type of work is very limited. It is questionable whether I would use them again.

Everyone can make a mistake, but we never hide from them and always make them right. We apologized to Member and hoped he understood being a tradesman himself that things happen, we didn't run or hide or give him a hard time we just fixed the mistake as quick as possible and hoped he would understand. I understand he was a little dissappointed so I guess a B is pretty good from him

I needed some hand railings for some time. I had requested an estimate from a contractor I had found on Angie's list; but he never got back to me with an estimate. I decided to give Railings and Things a call. I'm glad I did. Cary came to my home and was very knowledgeable. He was very pleasent and did not try to sell me something I didn't need. He brought a sample of colors for the railings and explained the process very throughly. In ten minutes he was able to have a quote for me. He honored the Angie's list $50 coupon and advised me if I wanted the job done it would be about 3 weeks before the railings would be installed. I agreed and in 3 weeks Cary called me to step up a delivery date for the railings. The installers showed up a couple of hours early on the date of my install. They were very polite. They installed the railings with no problems in about 2 hours. The railings are beautiful and very strudy. I'm very pleased with the railings and the fine job Railings and Things did. My husband was also very pleased. I've would highly recommend Railings and Things if you looking for wrought iron work to be done. Great experience.

Rep came promptly and measured area for railing and made good suggestions. There were a goodly number of styles to choose from also. He told me it would be done by a certain time and that I didn't need to be home when it was done. They installed both railings (smaller one on my back deck) in about an hour or maybe less within the specified time frame. Am very happy with the railing and the service.

Railings and Things was recommended by the concrete company who installed a new front porch on my house. I called and received an estimate within a few days. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to manufacture my railings, and they were installed 5 weeks from that time. I was very happy with the service and quality that I received. They even sent a Panera gift card with their invoice. I would highly recommend Railings and Things.

I spoke with Cary in detail about what I wanted. Initially, I wanted white railings to replace my white ones, but after he discussed the rust problems associated with those, I went with black ones.He was very patient and didn't mind my 1000 quesions at all. Apparently, he has a thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and customer appreciation. I received a form where I indicated the design I wanted and mailed it back. A few weeks later they were installed. A gentleman rang my doorbell to let me know they were going to begin installation. I looked outside a little while later and the men were gone--but there were my railings. They are taller than my old ones, but look beautiful. Several neighbors came by to ask for company information. I am very glad I went with the black ones and am delighted with the product. I guess I will eventually stop smiling when I look at them, but for now, I am on cloud 9!

The project went very smoothly and professionally. Cary, the owner, asked a lot of questions beforehand to get an idea of what I wanted. The railings are really nice--matched perfectly to the storm door. They are taller than the previous railings which is better for my brother who is disabled. The railings are very sturdy; I really like them! Several of the concrete contractors whom I had spoken with for replacing the concrete steps had recommended Railings and Things. This company's good reputation is well deserved.
Description of Work: A free estimate was given for new railings surrounding the front door steps. An additional railing was to be installed on one side of the back patio steps. Discussion with the owner, Cary, took place to decide on the type of decor for the railing. He asked if I wanted it to match the storm door, which I did. I received a quote with a drawing a day later. After acceptance of the quote, fabrication took about 1 1/2 weeks to two weeks. I received a call to set up an installation date. The installation was done when I was not there. When I came to see the railings, they were beautiful!
