J&S will provide you with a quote over the phone, which is fairly unheard of in the plumbing industry. They also do not charge extra for working on weekends or for emergency calls. Having worked with Matt Cichy from J&S Plumbing before, I was confident that he would do a quality job. Matt is one of those rare contractors who is both excellent at his craft and incredibly friendly and personable. Matt clearly explained everything that needed to be done and answered all my questions. He completed the job to standards that exceeded code requirements. He took the time to do the job with meticulous attention to detail. If you're looking for a plumber who is easy to work with and who will do a great job for you, call J&S Plumbing and ask for Matt.

Called first thing Monday morning. Gave them the spec/requirements, 50 Gal, natural gas, standard venting (non-powered). Guys were out by 1 PM and took ~1.75 hours of actual work time I think. Disconnected, drained and removed old heater. They use Bradford White. Home Depot sells Rheem and Lowes has AO Smith for reference if you're DIYing. I had a Bradford in our old house in Elmhurst that was ten years plus by the time we moved and served us just fine. Made in America if that give you goosebumps. They installed the RG250T6N, the basic 6-year warranty could extend to ten for $$ through Bradford they said I think. I asked for a new valve to be installed for the feed, always a good thing to do. I didn't mention on the first call but field guy added $75 to the total. To which, it is some extra time sweating in the new valve I get it and the valve itself ain't free! They had to disconnect/reconnect a gas feed that came down in front of the heater to get it out which probably added a little time. Our mechanical area is well accessible in the finished basement and the new one fit just fine in the old ones place so no re-running of water lines etc.... J&S has a 10% up to $100 coupon on Angie's so I used that too. Mentioned it on the phone be sure to inform your serviceman before he writes up your bill. Basic swap was quoted at $1350, add $75 for the valve minus the $100 coupon and we're at $1325 and we're back in business. I didn't call around, might have saved $1-200 if I ran around, but also maybe not! One call and the work was completed quickly & cleanly. Would use again hopefully next time it's not an emergency!

From the answering service to the moment that Leo left, this was as fantastic an experience as you could hope to have at midnight on a Friday. We came home to a filled sump well (with the pump not working) and water rising in another area of the basement. We called after 11pm on a Friday, spoke with a woman at the answering service who asked all the right questions and double checked everything. The J&S scheduler/triage person called back within a few minutes, gave me a clear expectation of where the service tech was and when we might expect to see him, and promised a call-back when he was about half an hour away. It turns out that he was able to come earlier that expected, and by midnight, he was working in the basement. We actually had a couple of concurrent issues, and Leo identified and fixed them both, routing out the line from the house until it was clear -- which was quite a task. He also replaced our malfunctioning sump pump, all between midnight and 3am. Throughout, Leo was pleasant (which is a great surprise at this time of night!), highly communicative about what he was finding and doing, clearly very experienced and competent. Not only did he do his work very well, he even worked to keep the basement floor clean as he pulled a disturbing amount of unpleasant muck from the pipe. While I'm sure we paid some premium for the emergency service, we don't feel taken advantage of in the least; this service--and being able to sleep knowing that we weren't flooding with waste water--was well worth the price. We will recommend J&S, and would gladly work with Leo any time.

The basement had an awful sewage smell and the water from the basement washing machine, sinks, and toilet wasn't flowing into the ejector pump pit to be pumped out into the overhead sewer. Water had also backed up into the laundry room. J & S came the next day, inspected line with camera, and did a rod of the sewer line. The main pipe under the basement foundation was clogged bad; however, J & S opened the line and fixed the problem. The employees (Daniel, Jorge, and Rosalio) were on time, very professional, and cleaned before leaving. Daniel also pointed out some other sewer/plumbing issues that he recommended be fixed in the future (with-out being pushy). I would recommend this company after my experience with them.

everything went perfectly, the timing, the pricing, everything was as expected and done well

had put in calls to other plumbers and waiting to hear back, J&S took my call at 6:00pm on a Thursday and came out and installed our 75 gallon hot water heater on Friday morning, that in itself is unbelievable, but they were totally professional, punctual, explained everything, did the job, cleaned up. I would recommend this company to anyone that needed any plumbing work done. Totally impressed.

Very impressed with the service and price. Water heater installed hours after I called at no additional fee. Plumber fixed a problem that other plumbers have not addressed, and was a safety hazard (we could smell gas). I would highly recommend.

Due to suction power of new toilet, another toilet in our house which was back to back with the new Koehler lost the water in its bowl every 2 days. Had to pay an additional amount to correct the piping in basement to stop this problem

They did a great job and replaced our leaking water heater with a new one. Pricing was equal to or better than other companies we contacted.

I can't give higher marks to this firm. They are very GOOD and professional and responsible and I'll definitely contact them for any plumbing project in the future.

Called J&S on a Saturday afternoon right before a big rain as my ejector pump check valve broke and was leaking. 2 techs were dispatched to my home and arrived with in an hour. Techs Brian and Joe showed up and they were kind enough to stay and fix all the other plumbing issues tat I had been putting off for a while since I had no idea what plumbing company to call. They were here almost 5 hrs and did a great job. I will know call J&S going forward.

J&S arrived on time, looked at the current water line hookup to the refrigerator and fixed the valve so it would accept flexible copper pipe. The original water line from the water valve to the refrigerator was flexible plastic tubing which we had replaced with flexible copper pipe. However, we could not get it hooked up to the water valve. J&S completed the last part of the project and confirmed that the hookup was done properly. The water now flows better (than before) through the refrigerator water dispenser. During the repair, J&S was very professional, and did a great job.

Shane cut the old filter out and soldered in new copper with skill and speed. Cost less than I expected.

Great! They arrived the same day. The work was explained well and they provided recommendations to improve our plumbing in the future. But no pressure to do it now. Just great information.

The owner personally contacted me and came over to size the water heater, he gave me a discount for their lack of customer service, he answered my various questions, I was able to schedule the installation thru him, it was installed fast and efficiently, and since I needed a follow-up inspection with the village, he didn't require payment from me until it passed inspection, which it did.

Shane was very prompt, personable, answered all my questions, did a great job and I will use them, again. I will recommend them.

We had water backing up into our basement. J&S was able to deduce the cause, and walk us through our options. Daniel, the crew foreman who came to service our home, was extremely helpful, professional, and kind. They were upfront with their costs, and held to them. Daniel was able to help make a stressful situation less stressful by treating us and our home with respect. Their service was exactly what you'd hope for, but the people working for them make J&S truly exceptional. I would recommend to friends and family.

They answered on my first call (nice rather than leaving a message) and had someone out the very next morning (on a Saturday). Matt called twenty minutes ahead of time to let us know they were on their way and arrived promptly on time. We had a bunch of work done and Matt thoroughly explained all our options. He and Steven did as much work as they could until we ordered so additional parts we would need. He went above and beyond, helping us fix our toilet and even showing me that my water heater was turned up too high and costing me money. He was extremely knowledgeable and and fixed an issue with my tub that others plumbers could not. We intend to bring them back to replace our faucets and ultimately to help us redo two bathrooms. J&S did a great job. Showed up right when they said they would. Gaspar G. evaluated the leak, informed me it's just the cover plate, not the pipe connections or cast-iron issues. Said he could take care of it right away for flat fee $125. Had them repair it. Pipe was a bit more rusty than thought, so it took them a bit longer to fix, but they repaired it and stayed with the committed price.

Scheduled service in 1 day and, after calling ahead, Ivan the plumber actually arrived 2 hours early! He replaced an outdoor frostproof faucet for $100 lower than my other estimate. He clearly explained what he would do and what it would cost. He was even apologetic that he could not do it for less! He got right to work and had it done in a couple of hours. This was as painless as it could possibly be.

Very knowledgeable technician. Fixed the leaking and did a good work and not to happen the same issue again. Did not charge extra even after the work exceeds the quoted time.

These were two separate jobs, and both were done very professionally. J & S will be my plumbers of choice from now on.

Called at 2pm on a Saturday after discovering my water heater leaking and they had a team out within the hour. Pleasant, very polite men, extremely careful not to damage anything. Worked quickly and efficiently. Can say enough nice things about this company! Would recommend them highly.

It just so happens that someone was in the area, so they got there pretty quick, I want to say 30-45 minutes after my call. They showed up, saw the valve, explained what it would take (and price), and then they finished in like 45-50 minutes. Service was great, quality of work was great, the guys themselves were great, and I don't know if I just paid a "minimum fee" or something, but $250 seemed kind of steep just to replace the water valves. The parts were probably $25 (since I was shopping to do it myself anyway), but even if they were $50, $200 for 1 hr of labor is a lot, I think. Just FYI, to have them come to your place it's $90, and then if they do the work, that $90 goes toward the price of work. In other words, if they came and told me what it would take, and I didn't use their service, it would have still cost me $90. Anyway, I was pretty worried for a couple days that I'd have a tsunami in my basement because of this thing, so for me, personally, $250 was a small price to pay to relieve me of the worry and stress.

In general J&S Plumbing is very responsive, they went out of their way to install a new water heater for us, in a tight space, within just a couple days of my first call. As for plumbing services, they mentioned that they do not charge extra for work in the evenings or on weekends, which many other companies do. The first power-vented water heater they put in had an issue with condensation drip-back, which caused the burner to have intermittent problems keeping the pilot light going. J&S was very professional and responsive to the problem. A month after the initial install, they ended up replacing with another brand new water heater, quickly and at no cost to us.
