Description of Work: They replaced the rotted wood trim on the apron of our large bay window, caulked and painted. The larger project was to repair the wood on the apron of 4 large sliding glass French doors and the wood transom. My husband was home and supervised the work. The two workmen put in two 10 hour days of work and then came back on Saturday to paint. They were very diligent and we are pleased with the result. We will see how well the repair holds up during the winter. BTW, Apex was the only company we contacted that was willing to tackle this project. All the others said to replace the sliding French doors at a cost of $15,000.

Description of Work: They are the nicest bunch of guys. Bay window was fogging, and they fixed that. I had a crank out window that wouldn't close. They fixed that. It was under $300 to repair both. Very polite and clean. Even took shoes off! I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to anyone having trouble with windows.

Description of Work: They came in the scheduled time but ending up breaking one of the replacements said they would be back in a couple of hours ended up after five hours rescheduling the appointment. Second scheduled time they were late and after installing the windows the locks didn't works and told us that it was like that after a few choice words all the windows now locked and everyone went away happy the staff was professional and courteous I think that they are put on a tight schedule which should be addressed and sending the same people for service would be wise.

Description of Work: They replaced the operating hardware on 3 casement windows. Work seems to be ok but who knows since I'm not opening the windows in the winter. My only problem is the cost--seems really high for a job that took less than an hour. However, out of 4 window companies I called, they were the only co that would do the job and 1 of the windows was stuck open. I didn't have lots of time to search for a lower price.

The crew of two did good work and completed the job within the time promised. Finished product looks great. Only problem is that they did not clean up the site when they left. Pieces of rotted window frame with nails sticking out were left behind.
Description of Work: They provided a quote to replace a rotted window sill and frame. Gave an estimate on a Tuesday and made the necessary repairs the next day.

It went well, although both the estimator and the actual man who did the defogging had very heavy accents so it was hard to understand what they were saying. The defogging itself only took about 20 minutes. It can take up to 12 weeks for all the fog to clear out, so I don't have final results yet. I would use this company again.
Description of Work: They gave me an accurate estimate to defog two kitchen windows and set the appointment for a few days hence. The office changed the time for the appointment and neglected to tell me, so I sat around for 2-1/2 hours waiting for the defogger to arrive.

Their price is fair, work is thorough, not much competition due to the work intensive nature of the wood cutting and finishing. I would use again, but I would advise to be sure you have purchased your own stain, because their workmen were a bit naive when it came to color matching and how to apply stain properly to match existing woodwork.

The estimator was on time and polite and quickly worked up an estimate on the spot, giving me an Angie's List discount and then another discount because I was getting quite a bit of work done. When I called to hire them, they charged me about 1/3 of the estimate as a deposit, which they charged to my credit card. (They do not take Discover though.) The repair was originally estimated to take 2.5 days, which it would have, if the repair guys didn't break three of the windows (the glass part, which they were supposed to reuse). On the first day, the repair guys were late, but they called to let me know about that, so that was OK with me. They showed up in a company van filled with equipment and supplies. The repair guys were polite, honest, and friendly, but rather quiet, which is OK too. They were young (in their twenties) and I got the feeling that only one of them had a lot of experience. They needed to use several of my electrical outlets for their power tools, but ran extension cords out to the driveway where they did all of the work. On the first day, they only did one window, which confused me and then left early. When I asked, the more experienced guy explained that they had used the first one as a template and the others would go much faster. Still, I felt that they could have done a couple more that day. The next 1.5 days were uneventful, except when on the last day, they broke the glass on one window and cracked the glass on another. They left me with plywood covering the broken one, which was on the front of my house. At least it was Halloween and kind of blended in with the spooky decorations I had. I had to wait about a week for them to return with replacements, which they provided at no extra charge. Then they broke one of their replacements and this time it was for the window in my daughter's room on the side of the house. They boarded it up and I had to wait another week, but at least they came out on a Saturday, so I didn't have to take off work. On one of these occasions, they were about 1/2 hour early (and didn't call to warn me), but that was OK. After each phase of work, they only collected money for the work completed, again on a credit card. They always cleaned up after each work day. Overall the quality of work was good and I even passed their name on to other neighbors, because everyone had the exact same issues with their windows, which are less than 8 years old.
Description of Work: Apex replaced rotting wood on 8 windows (due to my home builder, G&H, not painting the bottom of them and then not telling me that I had to paint them) and completely replaced a transom window, which had a broken seal due to a manufacturing defect.

Overall, it went very well. Their installers knew as to what they were doing and they seemed very knowledgeable. Their representative that I talked to and dealt with for all of the pricing, script of the work and everything else was very knowledgeable. He was very good with the communication. The installers mostly spoke the Russian language but they were very down to business. It did not come up where I needed to communicate with them too much because they knew as to what they were doing. I did not have a lot of interactions with them but it was not a bad thing. I would be having some more work done from them. I had several other window companies come out in the past and I have been most pleased with Apex Window Works.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Apex Window Works on the 15th of April 2011. They replaced a whole bunch of insulated glass units and thermo glass stains in my windows.

The work was done well and quickly and cleanly. Our neighbor who also had a fogged window on an upper floor also came over to look at their work while they were here and hired them for her window pane after she got a separate estimate. The estimates for time and labor were made in a timely manner and were accurate. It was good to have the work done in a single visit since we have to take off from work for these kinds of services. We had originally asked if the windows could be defogged, but the person ( a defogger) who came over for that estimate said it was too late for that process ( the windows had been fogged for 2 years and~9 months respectively). A second estimate had to be made by a different person for the replacements. He was much more positive after learning that we had custom matching windows available to install and would not have to get custom windows made for us. The work crew did not have English as their first language, but were able to communicate effectively if one realizes to not use jargon when speaking with them. They were curteous and vested in the quality of their work. As of now, the windows are still looking good, have survived the constant strong winds on our block which can hit those windows face on, and the moisture that was starting to show up last year on our interior window sill has not reappeared. Our condo management was trying to get a second estimate from the company that originally replaced the windows in the complex, but after several weeks, got no response. Apex answers the phone and was prompt with our services, so that was appreciated.
Description of Work: Both upper and lower panes of glass were replaced with windows that were already custom-made for the condominium complex. Our vintage condo is on a high first floor and the double-paned windows are very large and curved. Each pane of the old windows were removed in one piece without harming the wood frame. The window was originally painted shut, so the crew ( 2 men) had to break the paint seal without hurting the paint job to start their work. They worked quickly with one pane at a time, silicone-sealed the windows into the frame and put in wooden stops from the outside that matched our outside paint color, then cleaned the windows. The total estimated time was 2 hours which was essentially accurate. They cleaned up, took a check and left.

We were very satisfied. They showed up when they said they would - gave us an estimate - came back to measure in two days. Three days after that, they removed the rotting windows, placed plywood over the opening - and returned the next day to install the repaired windows. The installation took longer than they had anticipated, but overall we were very satisfied.
Description of Work: We had 2 windows that had rotting wood on the bottom and one large window above the front door that was very cloudy. They repaired the windows with the rotting wood and replaced the glass in the large window above the front door. The cost was much less than it would have been to replace the windows.
