Norm was tremendous. On time, very professional and repaired the two items in a timely manner. He also took time to explain the issues that we had and make sure he answered whatever questions we had after his work was completed. Will use again and would recommend.

We interviewed three roofing businesses (all located through this site). While all seemed very able, Thompsons was by far the most organized during the site visit (where he explained the process in detail) and subsequent written proposal. Norm's level of organization was impressive in our intial meeting with him, and when the proposal arrived, it was clear that he had listened and understood exactly what we needed and wanted in a new roof. Setup for the work was very efficient; Norm had stated that he would be here to begin work at 7:00 a.m. (he ascertained that the time was fine with us). His crew arrived around 6:30, set out the "trash trailer", tarpaulin. and tools. When Norm arrived (on time) the work began immediatelly. The crew was obviously well versed in the procedure; I never saw anyone just standing around idly. When a portion of the work was nearly finished, one person would be doing cleanup while the others completed the main task. The cleanup itself is worth mentioning. Our street is comprised of very narrow lots, and in our case the driveways are literally side-by-side. The crew brought in the "trash trailer, made sure that all old material was in the trailer and used magnets to be sure to locate and dispose of any errant nails, then took it away at the end of the day so that the driveway was available.

I called Thompson roofing for two items: re-cauld exhaust pipe, and reset exhaust vent because birds were nesting in it.Norm did a great job on both. he was initially going to re-caulk around the exhaust pipe but found when he got up there, that it would require a new flange and so he got a new one and re-caulked around it. In the second case, he was able to save the vent, reset it so that birds could not get in and caulked around it too.Norm was very pleasant to work with, punctual,and professional. he did a great job for me and I would certainly use him again for bigger jobs.

I contacted Norm based on the reviews I read on Angies List. Right from the initial conversation it was obvious that Norm had been doing this for a long time. I explained that I wanted an estimate to add 2 bathroom exhaust vents to the roof. I didn't know if this was going to be too small of a job but Norm had no issue with it. While talking with him about what I wanted done, I added additional work of replacing all of my existing attic vents to the estimate (my existing vents were cosmetically in bad shape due to hail damage.) I told Norm that I would provide the materials and I only wanted him to do the labor. He had no issue with that and even suggested what type of vents I should buy.I was only available on the weekend and Norm even was willing to come out on a Sunday. He showed up on time and was very professional. During the work, Norm pointed out that I miscounted the number of vents I had that needed to be replaced. When I asked Norm to hang around a little longer while I ran to Home Depot to pick up another vent, he had no issue. While on the roof, Norm pointed out the the guys who did my siding left holes from their braces in my roof and never patched them. Without me even asking, Norm walked around the entire roof and caulked all of the holes.I am very satisfied with his work and will definitely refer him to my family and friends. Roofers are one of those trades where its really great to "have a guy" and he'll definitely be the first guy I call when I need additional work.

I started looking for a new roofer back in March through Angie's List. Norm Thompson came out the day after I called to survey the job and provide an estimate. He is a hands-on guy who has been in the business for years, and was quickly up on the roof measuring and sizing up the job. I described a couple sites where there was water damage, and he listened carefully and took notes. While he was there, he made several suggestions about ways to improve the appearance of the roof I hadn't considered. The estimate arrived in the mail within 5 days. I interviewed 2 other roofing companies, all of whom were responsive and professional. Thompson's estimate was right in the middle of the other guys. Not the cheapest, and not the most expensive. His written proposal was the most professional and thorough of the bunch. He was also flexible and willing to adjust the proposal based on some concerns and conditions I asked for. On the day work was to begin, an army of workers started showing up at 6:30 am for a 7:00 start. The tear off took 3 to 4 hours, and they used a dump truck pulled up next to the garage to haul away debris. Then a crane showed up and they used it to lift pallets of shingles onto the roof. Installing the ice guard, flashing, underlayment, new plywood, and new shingles ran well into the afternoon. The crew lead man directed the operation. Norm showed up at intervals throughout the day to check on progress, discuss issues that came up (rotting plywood), ask questions, answer my questions, etc. The job was completed around 6:00 pm that evening. When I arrived back at the house, everybody was gone. The crew did an immaculate job of cleaning up after themselves. I mean there were no nails, no shingles, no bits and pieces. I set up a ladder and went around the house to inspect. The gutters were completely cleaned out. Everything looked great. As a footnote, I did notice that the crew forgot to install one of the vents over the garage. The next morning when Norm stopped by I mentioned it to him, and he explained that often when they install vents, they roof over the vent hole and then cut a space through the shingles for the vent to fit into. They forgot to do this last step. With that, Norm pulled out his ladder, went up on the roof with a new vent from his truck, and installed it properly in about half an hour. Job done. I can fully recommend thompson Roofing to anyone looking for a quality roofing job at a good value.

Norm is very down to earth, professional, and he knows what he is talking about. Would definitely recommend him again.

They're a good company. There was a exhaust pipe that extended through the roof from my basement from the water heater and the seal around the pipe wasn't good. When it rained water would come from the roof into the basement. It was a reasonable price. He seemed like a fair guy and I was really happy with him.

Noticed a water spot on the ceiling and wall. Called Thompson Roofing. Norm was very prompt and professional. He went to the roof and immediately noticed where the water was enterring the house. It was a quick fix, but nothing can beat piece of mind! His price was lower than expected.... he gave us great service for fantastic value! Thank you! I selected Thompson Roofing to replace my roof after getting bids from 3 different contractors. TR's quote was very pretty much identical in terms of the materials used, their credentials looked fine, and their price was significantly less than a much larger company's that clearly had a lot of additional overhead. Norm Thompson arrived in a timely manner to inspect the roof, and make the estimate. He was personable, and seemed knowledgeable, and I didn't feel I was being sold anything I didn't need. Once the contract was signed the communication about when the work would be performed was good. His crew showed up on time, and finished on time without leaving a mess. We had a problem with one of two new bath vents being installed in the wrong place, but Norm and his foreman corrected it themselves without delay, and with no argument or complaint. As far as I can see, the workmanship looks professional. My one complaint probably cannot be fairly leveled at Thompson Roofing, and that is that the new bath vents are 3" instead of 4". Three inches may be the standard for a bath vent, but it doesn't exhaust nearly quickly enough to keep mirrors from getting fogged up. Had I known, or been given the choice, I would certainly have opted for 4" vents even at a higher price.

Overall, I was happy and appreciate Norm's promptness and honesty.

He is pretty good; I like him. He did the job well and I haven’t had any problems since. He seemed good and honest. He tells you what you need and I don’t think he tries to sell you more.

We set up the date in July for after Labor Day re-roofing. Norm stopped by a couple of times to confirm the shingle style/color. Was extremely knowledgeable of the various types of roofing materials and pros/cons of certain brands. The cheerful, 8 person crew rang our doorbell at 6:52 AM (ouch) and immediately started work. The entire job was finished in a 12 hour day, which was a nice surprise. Norm's crew is excellent. They were extremely tidy and did an excellent clean up. A neighbor who is a carpenter stopped to watch them and told me he could tell they were really good. We had several decking boards replaced and the solar tube installed. Extremely professional.

They were rated very highly on Angie's List. They were prompt on the estimate. They were very reasonable on the price. I haven't spent any money with him yet. When I called him, he was very nice and personable. He made an appointment to come over and look at the roof. They kept the appointment right on time. They beat the other companies I got an estimate from so I'm going to go with them.

Great proffesional crew, worked quickley, kept me informed on everything they were doing. Finished quickly and cleaned everthing up.

He is extremely responsive (came within 24 hours) fixed the issue and the cost was very reasonable. Thank you again!

Norm Thompson inspected the problem areas Caulked the leaking area on the 3 season room during the estimate visit. Explained the repair to the garage leak to my satisfaction. New flashing for where the roof met the house. Painted the new wood trim replacement areas. Perfomed the repair within a week of the estimate visit. I was very satisfied with the work, the promptness, and the eagerness to please the customer..

They did a good job. They did it all in a 12 hour day. They probably are not the cheapest company around but that was fine. They are a local company and have done many of my neighbors' roof. Everyone we talked to who used them was very pleased with it. They are efficient and real fast. He had a whole crew of people on the roof, he must have had 15-20 people. They cleaned up pretty thoroughly, there were a couple things left behind but I think that's normal. I had no other complaints, there were no missing roof materials and we put on architectural shingles. We will probably get about 20 years out of this roof. We got to talking and we kept on talking. He knows his roofing, he knows how to do it, his crews are quick and efficient and his prices are reasonable. I could have probably gotten a better price but I don't think I could get someone to stand behind his work like he did.

They did a fantastic job and were very professional from the initial quote to the follow-up phone call. The job was finished within a day. I was very impressed. The price was also very competitive compared to the other quotes I got.

Excellent service from estimate to completion. The job was finished in one day and the crew cleaned up all debris in the yard and driveway. I can't say enough about the professional way the job was handled and I am extremely satisfied with the results. I highly recommend Thompson Roofing.

It was not a roof tear-off, but a re-roof. They adjusted some things that needed adjustment and showed me photographs of my roof. They were prompt, on time, and courteous. They were also punctual and the quality of their workmanship was good. They went all out for anything I wanted. They were very good to deal with and just tremendous. I would highly recommend them. I have actually recommended them to people.

Excellent start to finish. Norm is great to work with. He explained all work and materials in detail. The job was done as planned and exceeded all expectations. The crew shielded all lower windows with plywood sheets and spread tarps around the entire base of my home. Their cleanup was so thorough that it was hard to tell any work had been done. Norm added attic vents and installed 30 year shingles for a great price. I would recommend them for any size job.

I called in 2 weeks and he said he would deliver the materials on time and start on Wed. I understand they worked late Wed. to complete it in one day. I will be able to check it after 10/21 when I return to IL

Called for appt for estimate, came soon thereafter at my convenience. He went up in attic and checked for possible structural damage on a sagging roof, looked for proper ventilation that perhaps already exists, and checked for mold growth. After assessment, suggested that current ventilation was adequate and spending more to change it was unnecessary. Explained different options in materials and warrantees and services. Called that evening with estimate with many options priced out individually, so it was easy to see "add-on" costs. Came back promptly when called bringing samples and planning the work. Could do roofing within the next week. Came early in am & finished entire project including removal of all waste before dinner. Came to review work the next week and even fixed a blown fuse from a light that was out upstairs after the work was completed. Friendly owner who cares about his customers and concerned with providing his expertise on what is needed and giving them what they have asked for. Would recommend to others.
