I have perforated soffits down one side of the roof, and insulation blown in, so my attic is fine. After I bought the Deal, I talked to the guy, and I’m basically just paying for an estimate since my attic is in fine condition.

I couldn't possibly be any happier. They started when they said they would and finished when they said they would. They showed up right on time. There were absolutely NO problems at all. They even did some extra things and did not charge me for them. The price was exactly was he quoted. I have to tell you I hope the employee's appreciate their boss because he spoke to them with the utmost respect and kindness and that was very impressive in this day and age. I even received a thank you note from the owner and his wife, again very impressive.

We can't say enough about how professional, courteous, and responsive this company was. They worked quickly but watched for the small details of the project and cleaned up fantastically. We got lower quotes but are so glad we used Thompson Roofing. Would highly recommend them.

They responded immediately after I purchased my deal and came out the next day for the inspection. I felt the assessment was thorough and honest. I was pleased with their report.

Responded quickly and was on time for appointment. My concerns were: I had water coming through the attic into the bathroom and due to moisture problem in attic thought the sheathing may need to be replaced. The leak appears to be coming from the skylight and he repaired the portion that it appears to be leaking from, but the skylight needs to be replaced. Also gave me recommendations on things I should consider taking care of or I will need the sheathing replaced . I did not feel pressured or felt like he was there to sell a job that was not needed. He did what he said, and felt he was honest. Would definitely recommend.

He found the leak quickly and was able to make the repair while it was raining. Really nice guy and very honest.

I had a small leak in my kitchen ceiling near the gutters and originally had a gutter professional out to check (who then recommended I call a roofer). Norm came out and sealed the area by the gutters, checked my roof and found a few missing shingles (he even took photos to show me the area to be fixed), replaced a few missing shingles on the side of the house and the garage (he also brought and left extra shingles). He also mentioned that a flat deck on my roof could use an aluminum coating to prolong the life. I've lived here 3 years and never knew the flat deck was not cedar shakes (you can't see it unless you are on the roof). So, I am grateful he told me and I asked him to do the coating - which he fit in his schedule within a week or so. This was a great experience. Norm is a very nice guy who takes the time to explain the situation and solutions and was completely professional, fair in his pricing and did a great job patching in the siding. I would definitely call him again for any roofing needs.

Don't remember the cost but it seemed reasonable.

I received quotes from Norm and one from a second company for the installation of two vent kits and a power fan. Norm's quote was much lower. He did a great job and took the time to point out and fix (at no extra charge) a couple of other issues with the roof. Norm knows his stuff and is eager to explain things. I would definitely recommend Thompson Roofing to anyone and would definitely use them again.

Norm is the BEST!!! He was polite, prompt AND competent. You couldn't ask for a better guy to do your roof!

Norm Thompson from Thompson Roofing out of Elgin is an unbelievable individual. He was so knowledgeable on the phone and offers top notch products to re-roof your home. Speaking to him is like getting an education on what goes into a roof. He is kind and explains all the roof lingo he uses in detail, and he is happy to do so. He came out to inspect my 83 year old father's roof and was told that he did not need roof replacement. My Dad explained that three storm chasers were out to visit him and told my Dad what awful shape his roof was in and that he needed a complete replacement. Norm said "I don't do business like that". He was honest and trustworthy and checked everything on my Dad's roof including gutters, downspouts, flashing, plumbing flashings and all that could have been damaged from a really awful hail storm that went through the area recently. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated his honestly in a world where there almost is none!!!! Norm said my Dad's roof is not new... about 7-8 years old and there was some little stones that were loosened and in the gutter from rain storms, but there was not a need to replace the whole roof or even part of it. Dad's roof was experiencing normal wear and tear. My Dad said he would keep Norm's card handy and refer anyone we know to Norm if our family or friends need roofing repairs. I agreed. God Bless Norm and his honesty in doing business this way. I used Angie's list and got three estimates. One company never called me back after two phone calls. And another came out, went up on the roof and quoted him a whole new roof with gutters and downspouts. This was after Norm's assessment. I and our family are sticking with Norm for all our future roof replacements or roof repairs. Thank you to Angie's List, God Bless Norm and Angie's too.

They did an excellent job with the roof replacement. The crew worked hard and safely on a steeply sloped roof. Clean-up of materials was spotless. Norm was very professional and engaging. His price was reasonable and he was prompt in scheduling and completing the work.

Did everything he said he would. He came out and looked at the leak. He said that he normally doesn't work on flat roofs but he could and would fix mine. He stated that he would stop by on his way home from Aurora when it was dry out and he would bring the proper materials to fix the roof. He did so within a week. Very reasonable price for two visits and materials. I have waited five months to write this review because I wanted to be absolutely sure that the leak was fixed...and it is.

Norm returned my call quickly. He came out for a quick quote. Norm is very professional and respectful. All around nice guy. He came out a few days later for a couple of hours of work. He took down the dishes, (got stung by a bee in the process), replaced a couple of shingles and did some caulking around the roof. He could've ripped me off but he didn't. He did all this for $150. I had to give him a little more for a tip. Other companies were quoting me $375 and up to remove the dishes and repair the roof. Two thumbs up for this guy. Give him a call.

We had developed some soft spots and leaks in our roof due to a poor quality ridge vent installed about 10 years ago. Our insurance would not cover the repairs and we found Thompson Roofing on Angie's List. Norm was fabulous! Every phone call was returned promptly. He always showed up on time when he came out to inspect and give an estimate. Great communication as we tried to schedule the work around the weather and other family plans. The day he and his crew came to make the repairs, they showed up on time and worked non-stop to get the job done. He was great in working with us to help keep the costs down. He also had his crew allow my husband and son to measure for vents as they were working. The cost of the project ended up being way less than we thought it would be. Norm was very professional and competent and extremely pleasant to deal with. We highly recommend Thompson Roofing to others. I hope we never need to use him again, but if we do, we would not hesitate to call him.

I called Thompson Roofing to get a quote for a small job I needed. I described the job on their voicemail. Thompson Roofing called me back immediately the next morning, apologizing that they were not suitable to perform the job, and left me an alternate service company they've used (which also happen to be listed on Angie's list) that could assist me. I greatly appreciated both the timely response and the referral. Would definetly consider them if I need a bigger project done on my roof or gutter.

Norm did a wonderful job. He was at my house on time and completed the work in less than two hours. After the work was completed, he showed me the before and after pictures of my roofs. To top it off, about a week later, I received a handwritten thank you note from Thompson Roofing!

My experience with Thompson roofing was excellent. I had some sign of water on the living room ceiling so I called around to get have someone come inspect and make any needed repairs. Several places I called wanted $95 just to look at the roof and some had a set rate of >$300 to fix unspecified issues. Norm did neither. After I call he came to the property the next day and looked at the roof. He took good pictures and showed my the the roof was in good shape except for a seal around a vent pipe. He also estimated the the life remaining on the roof was ~3 years. The next week he returned and fixed the seal and put down some raised shingles. I felt he was reliable and honest, and will definitely contact him again for roof work. I've already passed his name on to a co-worker.

Norm was very nice and responded very quickly to my inquiry. He was also able to come out and fix our roof (replaced a couple shingles and inspected the entire roof for damage) within a couple days of me contacting him. I appreciated that he did the inspection and told me exactly what was needed instead of trying to sell me something I didn't need. He was very honest. He worked very quickly and was very understanding when I misplaced his address and delayed his payment (which was completely my fault). I would definitely call him again if needed.

We discovered a leak on the ceiling and became concerned it might be coming from the roof. Our roof is only two years old and we tried to contact the company who installed the roof. The company who installed the roof never returned our calls and we now feel they must have gone out of business. I contacted Thompson Roofing, explained the situation, and he responded right away. He looked at the roof and gutters and assured me everything seemed to be fine. If I had any further problem to let him know. I paid him $50.00 for coming out, although the piece of mind was worth a lot more. I only wish we had gone to Angies list when we had the roof installed!

Thompson's crew arrived at 7:00 AM and finished before 4:30 PM. The cleaned up the mess so well one would never have known they were here. They even cleaned up leaves that were on the back porch with the other debris. We would gladly recommend them to others.

Mr. Thompson is a great contractor. He personally returned phone calls prior to the job. He came out and explained the entire process in terms that I could understand. He never minded my numerous phones calls prior to hiring him with questions on the process, material, etc. The crew came out, did the tear off, and reshingled the entire roof in 2 days. They were thorough in clean up and professional. In respect to our property, the took care to cover our landscape and patio furniture so that no damage was done to either. Mr. Thompson then came out to inspect the workmanship himself and made sure that we were completely satisfied before payment. We are very pleased with our new roof and would definately hire Mr. Thompson in the future for work on our home. They were a pleasure to work with.

Norm did a GREAT job and I highly recommend his services. I will use him again without a doubt the next time I need roof work done.

I called Thompson Roofing based on the reviews in Angie's List. Norm responded very promptly after I left a message and scheduled a time to come out two days later. He arrived promptly and examined my roof. I had three areas I wanted checked: 1.) missing shingle/s around the stack 2.) area around one skylight 3.) check plugged holes where satellite dish had been. His findings were as follows: 1.) He can replaced the missing shingle around the stack and caulk the stack for $100 2.) The area around the skylight can be left as is 3.) He would have caulked, not used roofing cement, to plug the holes left by the satellite dish because roofing cement cracks. We scheduled a time two days hence for the repair. Norm called before he arrived and repaired the area around the stack. He took pictures on his phone and showed them to me. He had taken a sample of my roof shingle and matched the color. I asked him if he would cover the plugged areas with caulk which he willingly did and didn't charge extra. My experience was very positive. Norm is very, very nice and professional. My gut feeling is he's very honest. I thought the fee charged was extremely fair as he was here twice. I will definitely call Thompson Roofing again if I need any roof repairs or replacement. I asked Norm to give me an evaluation of my existing roof as I just moved to this house in April. He gave me an honest assessment of the condition of the roof and how much longer he thinks it will last (another 10 years or so).
