Description of Work: Everything was very professional on all levels. I thought it took an extra day or two to get the estimate but that's not a big deal as he knew I was not in a great hurry. | |When I received the estimate I was rather shocked at the price. Too expensive. This is not to say they were high on their price as it could be higher or lower than industry standard; I don't know what the market value of this service is.

Response from Revolutionary Spray Foam Services LLC
I believe this customer may have RevFoam confused with another company. We responded to his request immediately and provided the quote quickly. There where four separate areas of the home inspected and a quote provided for each. The total cost of the project was quoted at $8567.00. We did not perform this work. We were on a holiday break on the date mentioned.

Yes I am guilty. I dropped the ball and every time I tried to pick it up I kicked it. I failed to write down two measurements while on site and planed on returning to get the measurements. Procrastination is not good. Once someone waits for over a week for you to get back to them they, rightfully, loose faith. Sincere Apologees!

Guen is awesome. She's enormously knowledgeable about not just insulation, but also flooring, concrete, construction, drywall, weatherproofing and probably lots of things I didn't ask her about. She was also just cool. Friendly, professional and great at her job. As for the actual work, they were in and out in like 2 days. Actually a day and a half, I think. Not that they were rushing, they were incredibly thorough, and hanging drywall over their work was not an issue. totally flush. I also noticed how much more comfortable my house was almost immediately. When I first started looking into spray foam, I kept seeing people talk about how expensive it was. Rev Foam's estimate was way below what I was expecting, and for the amount of work done and for the massive improvement to my home I think what they charged is more than reasonable. Add to that the fact that closed-cell spray foam is light-years beyond any of the alternatives barring that NASA super-gel or, like, vacuum-sealed walls or witchcraft or something, and the whole thing seems like quite a bargain. The foam they sprayed has an r-value of 7.4, higher than the stupid rigid board stuff I was futzing with for months. It also has no seams for heat and wind to blow through, unlike the stupid rigid board stuff I was futzing with for months. It's also extremely water-resistant, which is a huge thing for a garden unit. All around working with Revolutionary Foam was one of the best experiences I had in the process of buying my house and fixing it up. From the actual work that they did, to the people who did it (Guen, really. I don't think I really spoke to the other guy.) and the prices they charged I can't imagine how any of it could be better. All top-quality, #1 best job. Thumbs up.
Description of Work: Much of the drywall and existing insulation in my garden unit condo had been removed after suffering water damage. That included the bottom two feet around the house and nearly an entire external wall in one bedroom. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but I believe that added up to ~150 lineal feet. Revolutionary Foam spray-foamed that entire area using closed-cell foam along with a frankly shocking amount of previously-uninsulated wall area stretching up to the ceiling, that using mainly closed-cell with some open-cell foam. The depth varied a lot but probably averaged ~2 inches.

Guen is a capable and responsible owner. She communicates clearly and regularly. She is honest and hard working. She is able to keep her prices fair by keeping her operation efficient. She financed the job, and made it possible for us to have a warm winter when we couldn't afford to pay it all up front. She knows the products and helped us understand what we needed to know about spray foam. We highly recommend Guen and the Rev. Spray Foam team.
Description of Work: Guen and her team sprayed 3.5 inches of open cell foam in the attic walls and 6 inches of closed cell foam in between the roof rafters.

Guen came out and estimated, wrote everything up and e-mailed it within a couple of days. We scheduled her a few weeks after that. Service was great, everything went as planned, cost was exactly as estimated. She called the night before to make sure we were set and went over exactly what was going to be done again so we were all on the same page. The workers arrived on time, were completely professional, completed everything promptly, and there was no smell or odor after just a few hours. They did a great job masking areas that were not to be sprayed as well as furniture, electronics, etc. Highly recommended.

My small, one-story house has a complicated attic layout and a hard-to-reach area with very little vertical clearance over a room addition. In spite of this, Guen and her helper did a good job cleaning my attic out and installing foam insulation. I had the insulation removed about two weeks prior to the new insulation installation because I needed to perform some other work on the house, mainly closing off gable vents and reinforcing/repairing gable walls. Her help definitely earned their pay doing the cleanout. They filled a 20-yard dumpster over half way. Note that their vacuum is designed to handle a large volume of light material and won't remove hunks of wood, nails, chunks of plaster, etc. often found in old houses like mine. Still, they removed 99% of the nasty stuff. I had planned to haul my shop vac into the attic to clean up what was left and remove insulation and debris from the above-mentioned wall cavities, but my attic entrance was too narrow to fit it up there. Guen was able to clean those areas out by hand and install closed-cell foam as a last-minute request. I had forgotten to ask her about this at the time of the original bid, but she charged a reasonable amount to do this. Foaming equipment requires a lot of electrical power to heat the foam resin. Some installers have diesel or gasoline-powered generators on self-contained foaming rigs. Guen's equipment requires 240V 60A power, which she is able to connect to straight from your breaker panel. This is probably a factor in her ability to charge competitive prices. Due to the tight spaces, this job took about 12 hours to complete. Guen didn't slack. This is hard work. The only error Guen made was accidentally foaming one small interior wall of my crawlspace. I wish that foam would have ended up on an attic gable wall instead . New foam outgasses fumes for several weeks after installation. Have it installed during fair weather if you can so you can open windows. Luckily, my house has an energy recovery ventilator which I had to keep it running 24/7 for two months to get rid of the fumes. This is not the installer's fault. All foam will do this. Originally, Guen proposed foaming my attic with open-cell-foam. After doing some research on the buildingscience.com web site and at other builder's forums, I saw that this is not recommended for colder climates due to the possibility of condensation forming inside the foam. Even though air doesn't move readily though open-cell foam, moist air can work its way in by gaseous diffusion. Condensation can cause mold and/or rot of any wood underneath. Open-cell foam is certainly less expensive and much easier to install than closed-cell, but I decided to spend the extra money on closed-cell. Closed-cell is also much more abuse-resistant (it's tough - you'll need a saw to cut it), takes up less room due to higher R-value and actually adds significant strength to structures it is applied to. Do your own research, talk to competitors, draw your own conclusions. Open-cell is fine for walls. IMHO, it doesn't belong in attics unless you live in TX or GA. Conclusion: Guen did a fine job installing my insulation. I would definitely hire her again and have already recommended her to others. Due to the combination of better insulation and a more weather-tight house, my furnace runs about half as much as it used to. Having a clean, conditioned attic to use for storage added lots of value to this admittedly expensive improvement and to my home's value.
Description of Work: 1. Vacuumed old, dirty blown-in cellulose and fiberglass insulation out of my attic. This was done about two weeks prior to the main insulation work. 2. Installed 4" closed-cell foam under the roof deck. 3. Installed 2" of closed-cell foam on attic gable walls. 4. Installed 2" of closed-cell foam on the walls of the crawlspace under a room addition. 5. Installed open-cell foam in the top couple of feet of several wall cavities which my siding contractor was not able to reach when he removed and replaced sheathing.

Once the job was complete, the draft was noticeably gone. I could now enter the attic and not see my breath. Because the attic houses a furnace, the temperature was the same as the second floor bedrooms. It was a lot of work to remove flooring, then vacuum out the fluffy insulation, spray along the rim joists, then spray the attic floor to ceiling. As she began spraying 1st floor rim joists, she pointed out areas where daylight could be seen. The foam completely sealed off those areas and instantaneously stopped the refrigerator effect in the house. Completely for the first time ever! This project was not done all at once, but the combined effect has been amazing. Guen gave me the best price and her knowledge of properly applying the foam product and how the foam would terminate the air passage through walls and help warm the floor above was 100% accurate. The fact that drywall had to be removed was a fact that I knew had to be dealt with, which was why I did this part myself. I had the house built and know that the lazy/stupid/jerk builder did not insulate. So for 10 years my family endured this chilly part of the home. Now the temperature is even throughout the house for the first time, it is quieter and my furnace can maintain the thermostat setting without hardly any effort. Guen will tell you how to correct your insulation issues, and this should not be construed as a "sales pitch". Guen knows what she is talking about and I recommed her for her price, knowledge and workmanship. Revolutionary Spray Foam will do what they say, when they say and put it in writing. This was the best money I have ever spent on home maintenance.
Description of Work: Guen was recommended as a seasoned spray foam insulation expert. I contacted her and we made an appointment at my home so she could evaluate my attic space and answer questions I had about other areas in the home. My home is 10 yrs. old and was NOT insulated professionally. By this I mean zero insulation in the attic and zero insulation along the rim joists around first and second floor. With zero insulation underfoot and overhead on two floors, this caused a literal breeze inside the house in the winter as my heat would travel up the stairway, then up and out through the cold attic.Floors would be icy cold and my thermostat would take forever to reach the desired setting, and run for an eternity. Guen described the stack effect that caused the draft and recommended a strategy to correct this problem. Guen planned to pull the flooring in the attic, remove the blown-in fiberglass insulation, then spray 6" of open cell foam around the rim joists and spray the entire interior attic roof to the floor. This would work to eliminate the draft and prevent condensation in the attic. The second phase of corrective action was to spray the rim joists. The ceiling would need to be opened up to allow her to spray along the perimeter of the living area, so I cut open the ceiling myself. It was messy with drywall dust, but I wanted spray foam in this area due to the inability to heat the living/dining room space in the winter. Problem being the zero insulation above the ceiling and the long run of duct from the furnace was simply inadequate. Here is what she did for me; Sprayed attic and rim joist at roof level. Sprayed concrete cavity underneath front stoop, used for storage. Sprayed rin joist area above 1st floor living/dining room.

This job went very smooth. The owner was punctual coming out to give us an estimate, was very knowledgeable about what she was going to do, and educated us about the product being used and the process. We agreed on the price and set up the appointment. The owner and another worker came out when they said they would, set up everything, were very careful to cover up the carpet in the room they would be coming through, and down the steps before they started. They did a great job, cleaned up very well, were safe and very organized. They cleaned up very well and got the job done in the amount of time that was estimated. We were very pleased with this company.

This was the easiest part of a very difficult and exhausting addition to my home. It was also the best decision I made in the remodel process.
Description of Work: Guen, was awesome. I did a big remodel on my home adding about 500 sq feet. I wanted to use a green product on my home and not spend a fortune. My general contractor was excited that I wanted to use spray foam insulation as he had not seen it applied previously. He also was very impressed with Rev foam. They answered all of my questions about spray foam insulation versus the pick stuff. The process was painless. We have small children and my wife was concerned about the install process. Guen re assured her and I with the safety of the product application. We went to Mcdonalds with the kids and by the time we came home they were wrapping up. I am very happy with the choice of using spray Foam we have spent less in energy bills monthly since we installed it Even though we have quite a bit more space to heat and cool. I would recommend this product and this company to anyone who is thinking about a remodel or addition to your home. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!
