We called Tom Wyse and unlike other providers we called, we did not have to wait 2-3 weeks for an appointment to talk about the above services. Tom met with us the very next day in the evening so he could speak to my husband and me together. He carefully gave us all of our options and was very honest with us. He said he was selling us a comfort system, not just a furnace and ac. This was important to us since the units that were in the house were all working well. They were old(28 years) and we were looking for energy efficiency and peace of mind. We did not want the furnace to break in inclement weather. Our hindsight was very good considering these last few days of record breaking cold. Tom did inspect our current furnace and a.c. unit and said they all looked okay and did not try to scare us with some sales tactics. My home has beautiful custom wood floor and his team of installers came out and immediately covered every inch of our floor. They arranged to have my old furnace and ac unit hauled away within an hour after it was removed so we didn't have to look at it on our parkway. Toms team, Dan and Greg did an excellent job on the install. We have two very friendly, (ie. pesty) dogs and they were very good to them. When Dan and Greg were finished they made sure that I understood the new thermostat and went over instructions when I asked questions. They also sought my input as to where sensors were located and the positioning of the new air conditioning unit. I appreciated not being surprised. Tom came back after the job was completed and met with my husband to go over all the household maintenance and the thermostat. My husband being an engineer has been extremely happy with the equipment, installation and vendor we have chosen. Oh Tom said the air cleaner we purchased would eliminate the majority of dust in the home and we would notice that the furnishing stay cleaner and he was absolutely true to his word. Also since the air conditioning unit was installed when it was too cold to start it, Tom has promised to come back and walk us through that system in the spring. I would definitely hire this company they did an excellent job from start to finish.
Description of Work: We had a new air conditioner, furnace, humidifier, air cleaner and high end thermostat installed.

On 1/5/15 (Sunday) our furnace went out on one of the coldest days in two decades. Wind chill factors were expected to possibly reach -45 below. We searched Angie's List and found Climate Control Services with 76 all "A" reviews. We contacted them at 1:30pm and were told that due to the high volume of calls they were currently busy, but would recontact us when they were within 30 minutes of their arrival time. We were contacted by Mr. Tom Wyse and informed he was on his way. He arrived at 3:30pm and within ten minutes of inspecting the furnace diagnosed the problem as a pressure switch being stuck open, which was caused by a blocked inlet/exhaust vent from ice forming at the roof vent. Due to the extreme weather conditions nothing could presently be done to remove the ice so the vent was disconnected at the furnace, which permitted the intake of air from the house. The furnace went on immediately and was then tested repeatedly through the use of the thermostat. We were instructed to keep the vent disconnected until the weather warmed up and the ice melted at the roof vent, at which time the vents could be reconnected to the furnace. Mr. Wyse explained that this is a rare occurrence, resulting from the unusually cold temperature and high winds. In addition, Mr. Wyse reprogrammed our thermostat to our desired temperatures. It was obvious that the knowledge, honesty and professionalism displayed by Mr. Wyse was the reason for his history of outstanding customer reviews. In addition, Climate Control offered a $30.00 discount coupon to Angie's List members, which Mr. Wyse applied to the price of his emergency response service. I would highly recommend Climate Control Services to anyone interested in Heating and Air Conditioning Services. I will be conducting all my future heating and air conditioning business with this company. I would like to personally thank Mr. Wyse for his outstanding service at a very difficult time and for responding at such short notice on a Sunday in very extreme weather conditions.

Returned my call quickly and scheduled service for the next day. Repaired water line to humidifier and also determined that electrical outlet was faulty. Repaired both. Also found problem with hot water heater vent line and suggested repairs I could make on my own. Very professional and friendly technician Laid down tarps from front door to basement to make sure he didn't track in snow.

I purchase two safety inspections and furnace tune-ups from Climate Control Heating and air. They were very prompt in scheduling my inspections and showed up at the scheduled time. The technician immediately informed me that the wrong igniter was installed in my furnace which was causing it not to light properly. The owner Tom called me the next day with a quote on installing the correct part. When I expressed disappointment in what my coupons entailed, (my fault for not reading the fine print)Tom, the owner came out the next day, cleaned both furnaces and installed the correct igniter, charging me only for the part. He went totally beyond the call of duty to ensure my satisfaction. He was very knowledgeable about my system, and educated me on things I was unaware of. I am very impressed Climate Control and would highly recommend them, and definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Cleaned and inspected two furnaces. Changed humidifier pad and replaced the igniter, which was installed by another contractor who used the wrong part.

Communication was great. Tom was very professional and courteous. He had finished his prior job early and called us to see if would be alright to come by before his scheduled winodw. He did a thorough check of the system and even though our system is original to the house (over 20 years old) he didn't try to sell us on any unecessary repairs and only suggested that with such an old furnace that we ensure we change out our CO detectors at least every 5 years. We asked for some information on a new furnace/AC system and he did a great job of explaining what a new system would provide for us and offered to e-mail us an estimate. Would definitely do business with this company again!

I purchased a $49 Seasonal Furnace Tune-Up & Safety Inspection deal. Tom called within a day or so to schedule the visit for furnace maintenance. He explained that the description of the deal states that the $49 is only for Kane County residents and that it would be an additional $20 to come to my location in Cook County. He gave me the opportunity to have the deal refunded, but I felt that $69 total was still a good price, so I still scheduled the appointment for the following week. Aside from cleaning, filter change, and other maintenance, Tom took time to explain some issues with the furnace installation, performed by another company three years prior, and suggested I contact the installer to see if they could rectify them. I appreciated that he suggested that first. I plan on having Climate Control Services come out again in the spring to check out our AC, and for any future maintenance.

Job went Great. I have built several thousand houses in NC. When I talked with Tom, with Climate, he was very professional and knowledgable. When my non building son-in-law met him at his house in Arlington Heights, he made the same comment. Work started when scheduled. Chris, the install guy, was prpared and did all work in a proffesional and excellant manner. Price was where estimate was and workmanship excellant. Should my daughter require any further HVAC work on their house, they will use Climate Control. Richard Weale

Mr. Wyse sent a specialized technician, Dan, to replace the brackets, the compressor, and balance fluids. Dan was professional, thorough and patiently answered all of my questions regarding the work he was doing. He made sure that everything was running smoothly before he left. Prior to, Mr. Wyse had given me an estimate on time and cost explaining that most of the cost would be in labor and not in parts as the technician would need to dismantle our unit. It took about 3 hours which was exactly what Mr. Wyse said it would take. I recommend them because they were honest, clean and professional.
Description of Work: One of the original brackets supporting our A/C unit had broken causing our unit to be lopsided on one side. We were going to add a new bracket but when I explained the situation to Mr. Wyse, manager of Climate Control Services, LLC, he explained that unfortunately it's not that simple, and that we would need to have the fluids recalculated and balanced.

Overall, the experience was OK. I also had the technician change out the filter in our humidifier for an additional fee. My biggest disappointment was when a knocking noice that my furnace was making would not happen until five minutes after the tech left. I called back and asked if there was anyway someone could stop back out when they were in the area just to double check the source of noice. I was told that I would have to pay the cost of a service call for that to happen. I thought that was a little unreasonalble since I voluntarily changed our original appointment to accomdate their schedule. They had called and asked to come a couple days early since they were going to be in the area anyway. I was just asking for the same courtesy but was denied. I might consider using them again.

Response from Climate Control Services, LLC
Hi [removed member name], I believe there was an issue here with the original installation of the equipment from the original installing dealer. You do have an extended warranty from American Standard. The servicing contractor on your American Standard Extended Warranty should be able to fix any problems at no charge. Climate Control was not the servicing contractor on this warranty. This is why i would have to charge a service call to come out. If TR Miller or Tamarack are not fixing the issue please advise American Standard. You can switch your service provider to ANY American Standard Customer Care Dealer.

You can read the above comment. It went very, very well!!! It's a family owned business and I have to give the credit to the father on how well he has trained his son on his knowledge, expertise, and professionalism.
Description of Work: My air-conditioner went out called them on a Saturday to come out on Monday and they came. My contact was out on the unit because of air-wigs. He changed it and also told him I have a condo about two miles from me that we own and asked if he could set up a time where I can meet with him so he can take a look at it. He said he could check it out now for me. Told me the system was ok and just to let it be until you eventually replace the furnace/ac together. It's a combined unit. And, no charge. You cannot beat thier professionalismand thier expertise. I was very, very, very happy with this company!!!!!!!! They don't overchage you and tell you well this should be replaced blah, blah!!! I highly recommend this company!!!!!!!!!

Reponded to message left on voice mail within 15 minutes and was able to come over within an hour on a Saturday morning to diagnose the problem. He then called all over looking for the right replacement parts. He found them but about an hour away. He then gave me an option of saving $80 if I waited until Monday for the repair when he could get the parts locally. I suggested Tuesday morning worked better for me. He came and did all the work outside and then came to the door to verify that everything was working correctly. He then did a quick inspection of the units inside and pointed out a couple of things in the basement that he noticed and recommended an easy fix I could do to prevent issues further down the road. Overall I was very satisfied with the speed and ease of getting the AC repaired.

This experience was one of the most impressive that I can recall, period! Tom called me at our appointment time to tell me he would be late because of the heavy, driving rain. I replied that I would understand if he needed to reschedule. He said, "Oh no, I'm watching the radar and I'll start out as soon as I see an opening. It was not 3 minutes after the rain stopped that Tom was at my door. I briefly told him of the problem and without blinking went to work and had the issue fixed in 15 minutes. He then checked out all my other heating and cooling equipment, as we just moved into this house and I wanted to have everything looked at. He had the estimate I asked for the very next day, and I will use Climate Control Services when I am ready to have the work done. Tom's knowledge, work ethic and professionalism were impressive and appreciated. In my experience, the bill was very reasonable. I highly recommend this contractor and technician!

Home built in 1981; four bedroom Colonial located in The Windings (west of Campton Hills). HVAC: Original air conditioner; twenty-year-old 80% efficiency furnace with integrated humidifier. Both the furnace and A/C were fully functional but outdated and inefficient. We also had deteriorating /crushed flex ductwork in the attic which needed to be replaced. Final cost: $11,492 with a 10-year parts and labor warranty. Like most of you who use Angie?s List, I know that getting the most out of my money requires doing some careful research. I am a home improvement ?do-it-yourselfer? by necessity. In those areas where an improvement is outside of my ability or promises to exceed a reasonable timeframe to accomplish I do careful exploration so as to make informed choices as to who I will hire to do it for me. In this case I invested several weeks of intensive research into HVAC and consumer experience in this area. It represents a big cash investment. I have been saving for 15 years to get this work done on my home. Replacing my aging furnace and A/C was an overdue necessity. I solicited five separate companies for bids. Four of the companies were all highly rated on Angie?s List. The fifth bid came through a vendor who has a kiosk in one of our local discount warehouse clubs (I figured the endorsement and potential discount worth considering). The proposals ranged from $9000 to $13,500. (This range may seem extreme but my home had some ducting/re-ducting issues I knew had to be addressed and the proposed ?fix? by each contractor was reflected in their pricing). Also included in the quotes were integrated whole-hose filtering system and humidifier. All of the vendors lived up to their customer ratings. All were professional and on-time for their appointments. All took the time to answer questions and follow-up email questions. As far as the equipment pricing, all the companies were in the same ballpark but the ductwork issues had to be part of the package in order for the new HVAC system to have optimal impact. The labor and material proposal for the ductwork issues proved to be a major factor in all the pricing. On this basis the ?fifth? bid from the buying club vendor was immediately eliminated from consideration (outrageously more expensive than the other four and effectively negating any ?club discounts?). Of the remaining four bids, Climate Control Services became our choice. Their bid was not the lowest, nor was it the highest. Let me list the major factors that both led to our choosing CCS and later confirmed the wisdom of that choice: 1. Prompt turnaround on initial request for a bid. We found Climate Control Services on Angie?s List and Tom Wyse came out to do a spring checkup (50% off coupon via Angie?s) on our A/C. While he was here I asked him to look over my system and give me a bid for replacing it. This was on a Friday morning. His initial bid was in my email the next morning (Saturday). [Side note: CCS was our first bidder in the four week process.] 2. Apparent expertise and stability of the company as initially represented by Tom Wyse. a. As I did my research it became increasingly clear that installation by a licensed competent contractor (who doesn?t subcontract out his jobs) was critical to getting a new system installed properly. Note: Consumer research studies seem to indicate that most HVAC complaints are registered by a) homeowners who had their HVAC done via a home builder who had a ?one-size-fits-all? contractor do a batch of systems or b) the homeowner purchased the lowest price system they could get through a department/big-box who then subcontracted it out to so-called HVAC professionals who disappeared into the mist as soon as the job was complete and they had their check in hand. b. I determined it was best in both the short- and long-term to find a local company that has a history of standing behind their work. Climate Control Services fits that profile. c. Tom stated this business was started by his father. Tom worked his way up through the business, working with and for his father as a licensed and certified installer/technician. Tom now teaches classes on HVAC, maintains certifications, and employs only those with the same professional standards and work ethic he was raised with. d. Tom lives in the Fox Valley and knows his reputation is reflected in and by how he conducts business, before and after the sale. He has a vested interested in the community of customers he serves. e. Dan and Chris are not just installers, they are professionally certified HVAC technicians. If you check, you will find there is a distinction. Installers may not have any certified training to the HVAC professional standards. 3. Tom Wyse took the time to answer a variety of questions and concerns. Tom came back for a face-to-face discussion of his proposal and conversed via phone and email. He was very thorough and never pushed anything out of the ordinary. As a matter of fact, his proposal on the ductwork portion was initially cheaper than I ended up opting for. This was due to an ?added-value? aspect that I decided I wanted in this part of the job. Tom expressed surprise that we purchased when we did. He figured due to the season and the fact that our system was functioning that we weren?t ready to have it done so soon (it was already mid-May).He also scheduled us for the install for some cooler days due to the attic ductwork that was needed and in order to protect his technicians working in the higher attic temperatures. 4. Practical demonstration of professionalism and efficiency. a. As suggested by previous comments, Tom Wyse is very thorough. Kudos to Tom?s wife whom he credits with preparing their promotional materials. This included a binder with before/after photos of their work and references. This was important to me. Seeing pictures of the qualityof their work helped me know what to expect as an end product. Previous experience has proven certified professional technicians produce the best sheet metal work resulting in not only a good looking system but one that seals properly. b. Dan and Chris were the techs that came out to install our job. Both of them were professional, knowledgeable and polite. They answered our questions without skipping a beat in the installation process. The installation was completed in two days. Day one was the removal/installation of furnace and A/C at the end of which the whole system was working. Day two was the ductwork fix and then system fine-tuning necessary to address the ductwork change. 5. Follow-up. Tom was back at the end of day two to set up the new digital thermostat and go over the system with us. In addition, he made two visits to fine tune supply-line dampers to balance the upstairs/downstairs delivery of the system to maximize the comfort level and to show me how I could clean the A/C, if I so desired. He made at least two follow-up phone calls to make sure his tweaks to the system were producing positive results. 6. Happy Wife. My wife was very pleased with the punctuality, cleanliness, quietness and politeness of the team of Tom, Dan and Chris. At the end of each day you would not have known they were there. The second evening was the big test - we had cool air circulating upstairs! The old ductwork had deteriorated to the point that some rooms were not getting air flow. Minor scratches and a chip appeared on the front door the second day after the ductwork was brought in. When she pointed it out to Tom, he immediately called in a furniture repairman who repaired the wood and all is good as new. 7. Bonus. We have a modern wi-fi thermostat that can be controlled, via an app on our smart phones, remotely.
Description of Work: We called Climate Control Services out for a spring HVAC inspection. Knowing our system was outdated and ineffecient we also began the process of soliciting bids to replace the furnace, air conditioner, humidifier, air filter as well as address some related ductwork issues in our attic.
