I recently moved to the western suburbs of Chicago and bought a 1970s ranch house in St. Charles, IL. It needed a lot of work, including replacing the 20-year-old furnace and A/C. But I soon learned it was going to be a bigger job than I realized initially. There were no cold air returns in the house, except for one central return in a hallway. Heating was uneven, the bedrooms were freezing and there was no air circulation. The ductwork in the crawlspace was rusty, corroded and not insulated. I decided I needed a completely new system and used Angie's List to find a contractor capable of doing such a big job. I narrowed it down to four contractors and started calling them to ask for bids. It was November and they were all very busy, but Tom Wyse from Climate Control came out within a few days, inspected the house and discussed my options. Another contractor didn't want to come out unless he was the last bid (strange...) and a third was going to out-source the job to another contractor, so I rejected them. The fourth contractor never called me back. So I accepted Tom's bid in mid-November and I am so glad I did. Anyone can do a simple furnace install, but I needed someone with experience in tearing out and installing an entire new system. The reviews on Angie's List assured me that Tom's crew had done comparable work before and that his price was reasonable. I didn't expect it to be cheap, but I didn't want to be taken advantage of, either. With the onset of extremely cold weather, Tom was flooded with service calls and couldn't get to me as fast as I would have liked. I was worried that my old furnace would break down. It was struggling. Tom told me that if it stopped working, he would come out anytime and fix it at no charge, which was very reassuring. Finally the installation was scheduled for the second week in January. Dan and Greg showed up on Monday morning right on time with tarps to cover my floors. They spent three days on their knees or backs in my attic and crawlspace removing and installing ductwork. It was a dirty, cold miserable job, but they were always cheerful and professional. They cleaned up at the end of each day and timed the work so I would have heat at night. They provided space heaters for me to use during the day while they worked. I ask a lot of questions and they patiently answered all of them. On the fourth day, they put in the new furnace. The village inspector did a very thorough inspection and found just two minor items, which Dan and Greg came out and fixed within a few days. I am amazed at the difference in air quality in my house. No more freezing bedrooms! The house is cleaner and fresher and I am no longer worried about losing heat this winter or air conditioning this summer. I would recommend Tom Wyse and Climate Control Services to anyone. They did an outstanding job.

Tom was punctual and gave me a call 30 minutes before arriving. I had purchased a 22-point inspection of our furnace using a coupon. When Tom arrived, he looked at the space around the furnace and said that there was no way he could clean it given the small space. Our furnace is about 50 years old, and he said that even if he could get in the space, he wouldn't feel comfortable given the age of the equipment;if something broke, he didn't know if replacement parts we're available. He said he would make sure I got a complete refund. Overall, despite not being able to perform the work, he was very professional and apologetic.

The process from quotation to installation was effortless. Tom came out and ran a load calc and thoroughly investigated our vents and returns. Then he spent time listening to our experiences with our current furnace. Once he knew what to recommend he explained his recommendation and even told us why it wouldn't pay to upgrade to the more expensive furnace. He was very knowledgable and I felt I understood my needs well enough to make a good discussion. I did get two other quotes Climate Control was right in the middle. In the end I made my decision based on the combined experience of his installation team and length of time the installation team has been with him, the number of great reviews on Angie's list and my confidence in Tom. It was a 2 day installation and I hardly knew the guys were here. They cleaned up and took time to explain how everything works. Tom stopped by himself at the start and end to be sure everything was in order. I would highly recommend Climate Control!

They showed up on time and were very efficient. Cleaned up when finished and were on their way. I really appreciated how they came and did exactly what I asked for, they did not try to sell me additional services. I feel almost any time I have service done the companies try to talk me into something additional.

I first found Climate control on Angies List, and asked them to come and give me an estimate. Tom was very punctual, and took his time to understand my needs, and wants. After walking the house, and taking the necessary CFM, and load calculations, i recieved an itemized quote the same night. I decided to hire Tom, and company to instal a new furnace, AC, humidifier, accuclean system, and thermostat, along with new duct work in the basement. I compared the price with other companies, and they were right there. The technicians that did the instal were very knowledgeable, and polite. They kept the house very clean, and cleaned up everyday prior to leaving the job site. once the project was complete, Tom instructed me on all the necessary areas that i needed to know. He followed up a week later with a phone call to make sure everythng was running correctly. Overall, the job exceeded my expectations, and i would reccomend Tom and company to anyone looking for a new furnace/AC.

Before purchasing a Big Deal that this company was offering, I called the office and spoke with the receptionist to ask about the deal, and gave her all of my information, including my home address. I ended up purchasing the deal, and the next day a man from the company called me and told me that to service my county it would cost an additional $20. He pointed out to me that this information was included in the fine print of the deal, but I felt as though the woman I had spoken with the before I bought the deal should have said something about that, since I had asked about additional fees.

Tom Wyse is a very honest contractor who is dedicated to doing top quality work and believes in "treating others as you'd want them to treat you." He discussed with us what we actually needed for our home and did not try to up sell us like other companies. He handled the rebates from Nicor Gas and ComEd and the warranty registrations, which made the whole process easy. Even though the price was in the middle range of the 3 quotes we got, it was well worth it because Tom is straightforward and honest and ALL of his workers are NATE certified with no subcontractors. The installers, Dan and Greg, did a superb job of removing the old equipment and installing the new ones in a tight space. They worked conscientiously as if it was their own home. Dan explained how the systems work and answered any questions before he left. Tom followed up to see how the systems were working and to answer any more questions. The whole house is a lot more comfortable now. Tom and his crew are trustworthy and caring, which gives us the peace of mind that the job was done right with the equipment that we actually needed. I would definitely hire them again. I highly recommend them.

I can't say enough good things about Climate Control Services, Tom Wyse and his team. The entire process was smooth from beginning to end. It started with a true consultation by Tom, including a load calculation to ensure we were installing the right size units. Tom is very professional and clearly cares about his customers. He is prompt to respond and answered / resolved any questions / challenges right away. The day of the installation was very smooth as well, Tom has a great team (no subcontractors!!) of professionals who know what they are doing. After the village inspection was complete, Tom made sure to follow-up with a phone call to us, which we appreciated as well. We had looked at 2 other companies, but decided to go with Climate Control Services for various reasons: 1) we felt very comfortable with Tom and the company (e.g. his people are all NATE certified, no subcontractors) 2) they offer instant rebates with ComEd and Nicor 3) Tom took care of all the paperwork, including getting the permit and submitting all of the information for warranty registration. It couldn't have been an easier process for us. Price wise Climate Control Services were not the cheapest, but I chose to give them an A rating for price anyways since the price/performance ratio was great! You definitely get what you pay for and then some with this company. I would recommend Climate Control Services to anybody. Great to see these types of companies still exist!

Serviced one of my AC units at a reasonable cost. Asked for a quote to have unit replaced and I was provided with a quote to have the AC, Furnace and all air quality equipment replaced. Not exactly what I was looking for and way more expensive than I am willing to pay. Just wanted the AC unit replacement cost.

It was a generic cleaning. They only did one other thing, there was a small 6 inch piece of PVC pipe that was cracked, it was a drain pipe on an attic air handler, they replaced that piece of PVC pipe. That was the total extent of their work. My argument is that there is no way I should pay $642 for the replacement of the PVC pipe, cleaning the units and adding the refrigerant. I let him I was unhappy with the price of the service, and he proceeded to justify that by telling me how expensive labor, refrigerant and his overhead was. He wanted to know if I was satisfied with the job he did, I said I was fine with the work, but it was simple work. I was satisfied with his work, but not the price he charged. He charged $75 a pound for the refrigerant, and you can get a 25 lb tank for $100-$130 dollars. He charged almost $500 for his labor, I think most HVAC companies would come in and charge half of what he charged. Despite getting the work done they overcharged, and tried to take advantage of my wife.

The service went well. One person came out and it took two hours to repair. He cleaned up after himself. He seemed very knowledgeable. I would recommend them to a friend or family member.

Fast and quick - didn't try to upsell, very courteous and honest. Would recommend but don't expect something for nothing...this was in DuPage county. Awesome response and very knowledgeable...

Tom was clearly very knowledgeable and enjoys his work. He took the time to explain everything and was very honest about what I needed and what I didn't need. It was a very good experience.

It was perfect. He came and did it and I am very pleased. First of all he showed up and he was very organized. He answered all my questions, took his time, and he did everything I asked him to do. I had called and told him that I had something else that needed to be taken care of. He was organized, timely and efficient. He gave me answers to all my questions. He didn’t treat me like I was stupid because I am a female. I thought that the price was fair. They had to bring the pump and I don’t know what it costs. He told me the price before he came, so I knew what it was going to be. I thought the price was correct and I don’t know was electricians charge, but he was here may be 45 minutes. I don’t know how much the pump costs and he told me it was $80, and I did not look up costs. He didn’t want to replace two pieces that were too much work or whatever but I was kind of disappointed. He was right on time and he was very professional.

I called Climate Control Services in the morning and they were able to come look at our air conditioner in the afternoon. Chris and Tom came by and spent about an hour diagnosing the issue with the a/c unit not turning on, and after some investigation they were able to figure out the problem and explained what had happened. A/C's running again. I really appreciated that they took the time to explain the issue and what the fix was, and even suggested some improvements they could make to ensure a Nest thermostat I had installed would work better in the future--their knowledge on the matter was impressive. They were responsive, on time and professional. I'd recommend them to anybody looking for HVAC service, I plan on using Climate Control Service again for my future HVAC needs.

Bought coupon on line. Didn't know about the out-of area extra charge. Can't remember how much it was now ($25-30). Had already bought coupon, so felt obligated to use it or lose it. If this charge was listed on coupon page, I never saw it. It should have been big and bold. In fact ad said

The workers that came here were very good. They were very clean, they cleaned up after themselves and they explained real well after they put everything in. They cost less but they are different from other companies.

Sold me a pre-purchased discount coupon. Yet, I went and chose to use another provider despite the convenience of the pre-purchase coupon.

We needed just a general inspection and cleaning of our furnace in order to prep our home for sale. Tom was timely and called prior to arrival, which is much appreciated. Tom was extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. He understood that I was being pulled in a few directions with another contractor onsite and two little ones to take care of. He was respectful of our home and ensured that shoes were removed and also was sure to not leave a trace of dust or evidence he was even here - other than a satisfied customer and a clean furnace! Tom provided general information about his business, his team and what they can do when asked. He was honest and good at his job - what more could we ask for?

The technician was very courteous and knowledgeable. He was on time and completed the work in a timely manner. He noticed the wiring of our system was messy and hazardous and recommended fixing and organizing it to avoid a short in the wiring. We had him do so and were happy with the work. He also recommended getting an air filter system installed on each of our units. We did not have that work done at the time due to price, but considered it an honest recommendation that we may tackle soon.

I had Tom come out to clean and check my furnace before I sold my house. Have had lots of little repairs in preparation for the sale, and this was by far, the quickest and easiest! He was efficient, thorough, professional, and affordable. I had called a couple of times to ask some questions about the process, and he answered the phone and patiently explained the process even though his "office hours" were over. This tells me he's someone who really cares about his business and helping others. During the cleaning process, the igniter broke on my furnace, he said it was because it was improperly installed, and it was probably very old as well. He replaced it free of charge, even though it wasn't his fault, which I totally appreciated. I would hire them again for future work in a second!

Tom and the staff at Climate Control Services were wonderful to work with! After a routine inspection (done by another company) turned up issues with our furnace, we went to Angie's List to search for service providers and came across Climate Control Services. Tom came out to our home for consultations before and after the work was completed. He really took the time to inspect our home and ask lots of questions in order to recommend the best product for our needs. We were able to schedule service quickly and it was all complete (new furnace and A/C) in 2 days. The staff took care to be neat and professional and everything was all clean upon completion. Tom's honest character and whole-hearted belief in the American Standard products and the skill of his staff will have us recommending them to everyone we know!

I had them move duck lines in various rooms for a remodel and add new lines in the basement. Tom and his crew are very professional and knowledgeable about heating systems. After the system was installed they balanced the entire house. Tom spent a lot of time instructing me how to use the system and care for it.
