the serviceman came out and cleaned our clean-out. scheduling was no problem at all. 7-8 weeks later we had to call them back as we were having some problems with efficient drainage of shower, bath and toilet. They scherduled us in for the next day and re-rooted our system. We have had no problems since (dec.) with no additional charge.

We called on Thursday & got an appointment the next Saturday. The guy was very prompt, honest, professional & had our gas leak fixed within a reasonable time. I don't remember the exact final amount but it was lower than I expected & well within our budget. I was very impressed with getting an appointment quickly since it was during the days of 100deg temps.

They did the work correctly and to our satisfaction. It is working fine. They were friendly and cleaned up very well.

I use him every year. He has never sold me something that I did not need. I give him A's across the board.

I called at lunchtime and was told that the technician would call back right after lunch. This did not happen. He called late in the day and said he was not at lunch. I called back the next day and the answering service could not tell me IF they would call me back that day. Poor response.

We recently purchased an old home and upon moving in we noticed some of the rooms did not heat as well as others. The central humidifier did not seem to be working at all. I phoned Robert Bair Services at about 10am, and by 11 am Tony arrived to check things out. Tony was both friendly and professional, and knew exactly what he was doing. He figured out why some rooms were cold very quickly- a few of the dampers had been closed by the previous owners. He also checked out our Aprilaire humidifier, which was unfortunately not working at all. He was able to replace it with a new unit which he had in his truck. The humidifier was $600, plus the cost of the trip ($87). Overall I am very pleased with the work that was done and feel it was worth the cost. I will be calling Robert Bair Services again when it is time to replace the hot water heater.

It was a free estimate. They assessed the situation and broke it down into sections so that it wouldn't be one huge bill, which I really appreciated. It's not going to be inexpensive. They explained what had to be done thoroughly. I decided to call them back because of previous happiness with them. The guy was right on time.

I was given a price on the phone of $250-$300. After services were complete, I was given a bill for $370. There was no extra work and hey admitted there were minimal roots to be removed. When I asked why the large price difference, they told me the woman on the phone should not have told me a price, but that they could give me $30 dollars off. Still much higher than the price I was quoted, and the reason I went with the company.

I liked the work that he did. Everything turned out well. Overall, the work was good, but the price was probably closer to the high end. I've talked to people at work who thought the cost was very high. He was pretty responsive. He showed up on time.

When water started coming up through the floor drain in the laundry room, we called Bair. They came out quickly, and cleared the clog. They had to pull out the toilet to get to the drain to clear it. I was not present for this, but agreed to work ($630) over the phone. I didn't realize there was no warranty. They stated that they snaked the drain 75 feet out to the main line. About 3 weeks later, the problem re-occurred. They came out again, and were about to repeat the first procedure (for another $630) when I said I needed a permanent fix, with a warranty. At that point, they referred me to the Downers Grove Sanitary District to participate in a program they have just for this type of work. DGDS ended up doing the work. Since DGSD doesn't remove toilets, I asked Bair to come out and pull the toilet, which they did. They waited until the DGSD completed the job to replace the toilet. They said they wouldn't charge a service charge for the second call, but they did. I had to call their offices twice to have the service charge removed.

Robert Bair has a prompt response time and they have great technicians. They have always done a good job for us.

They were available that day, but I wasn't, so I scheduled the appointment next day. The plumber showed up on time and we went right downstairs. I showed him the sink and the taps, he wrote up and estimate and it was the lowest one I received, so I signed the work order. He found the main water cutoff valve (it was hidden) and labeled it for me. He then sawed off the taps for the washer and replaced them, and rodded out the utility sink. He even hooked up my new washer and threw in steel hoses to go from the taps to the washer, and put the new washer into place where the old one was. The utility sink went from not draining at all to no water standing in it, no matter how fast water flows into it. I ran a load of laundry with the new washer and no leaks, and the new taps look great. I'm very pleased with the speed of the work, the professionalism of the plumber and the results.

We have used this service provider since they came to our rescue when we purchased our home in 1998. We had a major problem with a rotting sewer pipe under the floor of a bedroom which was discovered by our floor refinishers. They referred us to Robert Bair, and the rest is history. We have used them extensively over the years to replace our furnace and water heater, run new sewer pipe in our basement, install sump pump and drain tiles, install sinks and faucets, and unclog toilets and sewer pipes (we have an old house, and prior owners were not always as conscientious about maintenance). Their customer service is fantastic, and Dorothy always makes sure we get a same-day appointment. Although they are not the cheapest firm out there, the work is always top notch, and their professionalism, outstanding customer service, sense of fairness, and good humor is well worth the extra cost.

The person who came out was not very good and he did not know what he was doing. He worked for over an hour trying to replace a fitting. I was not happy with their service, so they gave me back some credit. I ended up having another company do the work for me.

I think that they are trustworthy and I feel like I am getting my money’s worth. Their prices are also fair.

Polite schedulers. Able to schedule for next day. Plumber came early in AM in panel truck stocked with pipes and equipment. Gave detailed estimate before agreement for work. Lay down mat to keep work area fairly clean. Remove all waste material. Very professional and work carefully done. Not cheap, but comparable or cheaper than City of Chicago rates. Willing to answer questions related to other issues to be taken care of at a later date. I would call on them again.

Robert Bair Services is probably the 10th company I called from a list of A-rated companies I found on Angie's List. This company is the only one that was able to offer an appointment within a few days of my calling. Every other company said I would have to wait at least a week, sometimes two weeks, before someone could come out. One company even offered a so-called emergency service which would cost over $500 just to walk in the door. The Robert Bair technician (Tony Fanella) showed up hours earlier than I expected, and his dispatcher called about 20 minutes before hand to let me know he was on the way. This was an excellent start to my experience. He came in, I gave him a few facts about what was wrong and he immediately went to work. He showed me what was wrong inside the house, and how he would fix it, and I gave him the go-ahead. He then went outside to the compressor and noted some work needed to be done, I gave him the go-ahead, and he fixed that too. He gave me some maintenance tips, we talked about future work to be done (i.e. fall maintenance) and he was on his way. All in all, this was an excellent first experience with an HVAC service provider. I feel the initial charge was below what I was quoted by every other provider I called, and the overall bill was reasonable. I will definitely use them again.

Repairperson was very courteous and professional. However, he repaired a pipe and it leaked even more after he fixed it. He said that it might have been because our sump pump was pumping inordinate amounts of water through it. This may be true -- I don't know.

They were punctual. professional and clean. They fixed the faucets and charged me according to a set list price in their ring binder. They determined the problem was that the water heater is old and pieces from the heater are clogging our faucets. We need a new water heater. They explained my options and gave me some quotes. They offered me an annual membership discount which I took ending up paying about $40 more for this visit. If I use them for the installation of the heater, I will get that back. However, there are so many choices out there now for water heaters, I will be doing my shopping carefully. I have seen the same models of heaters for substantially less (installed) than Bair quoted me including my membership discount.

We were pleased with their service. It was easy to make an appointment with them. They were able to take care of our issue in a timely fashion.

On the evening of November 17th, we discovered we had no hot water. When we could not light the pilot we called Robert Bair. As expected we got their answering service. However, we had to impress upon the answering service that a lack of hot water is an emergency. Nonetheless, they got the message to the on call plumber who called us back within 30 minutes. The plumber showed up within the 1 hour promised time frame. The plumber replaced the thermocouple, but noted on the bill that if the problem occurs again, the gas valve would have to be replaced. While there he noticed that the gray water sump pump's check valve was leaking. We authorized replacing it.

Initially, they came out to look at why the existing water heater was not doing the job. They were extremely courteous and neat. Advised us that the existing water heater could be turned up to produce more hot water and the part could be repaired or, we could purchase a new water heater. Given the age of the existing we opted to buy new. They came back a week later and installed the new water heater. They were prompt and very courteous throughout the process.
