A special request on the day installation was performed per the request of the owner without delay. All workers were professional in manner. A few months later, one garage door opener was sporadically working. Mike promptly showed up and replaced the brain of the garage door opener. It works great now.
Description of Work: Five garage doors were replaced and many of these garage doors were installed with garage door openers for a Downers Grove area condominium.

 + -1 moreOn the afternoon of the 27th the spring broke. I called that afternoon and left a message. I received a call-back the same afternoon. I explained that I was not in a hurry and we set the repair date for 4/29/10, between 2-4. I received a call when they were on the way. The repairman recognized the problem immediately without my explaining. It took about 15 minutes for the repair. Based on a prior internet search I knew how much to pay for the parts so it was easy to see that the price was reasonable. I received a discount for Angie's List.
Description of Work: Replaced a spring and a bearing on the garage door opening mechanism.

We called on a Friday morning (after one of our garage door openers started smoking) and our call was answered by a pleasant and helpful woman who was able to give us an estimate for a new garage door opener and schedule an installation for Saturday. The installers showed up on time and were very professional. They even took a look at our other garage door opener at no extra charge just to be sure it was in safe operating condition.

 + -1 moreOverall it wasn't a bad experience but I think there are a couple areas for improvement. We found that as long as you called Mike's (the owner) cell phone direct he was responsive. A couple of calls/messages went through the office number and were never returned or acknowledged. They were punctual when arriving to give the quote and then complete the work. The new garage door was installed, is working properly and looks great. Here is our major gripe and the reason for a grade of C for price. Upon completion of the work we presented a coupon from the Angie's List website that specifically says "This Coupon is Good Through 10/29/2010". We were told they weren't accepting those anymore and we received no discount. As of today that same coupon is still being displayed with the same expiration date. Either remove it or honor it.
Description of Work: Removed old, heavy (solid wood) double garage door and replaced with a new door.

Description of Work: Garage door chain came loose Friday night. Called them Saturday morning. Someone answered immediately, and said he could be there in 1-2 hours. He arrived less than 2 hours later, and fixed our door, tightened and oiled everything in under 30 minutes. I was very pleased. They also had an online coupon we used, which made the service call a reasonable $74. Would definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreOur garage door wouldn't open (it was making a horrible grinding noise), and we called first thing on Monday. Mike gave us a three-hour window that afternoon and came out during that time to take a look. Luckily it was just a repair -- we didn't need a whole new opener -- and he was able to do it in less than an hour. He showed me the broken parts and what needed to be done, and then very quickly finished the work. Mike was personable and good at explaining what he was doing. We would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Replaced worn trolley and broken limit switch on Garage Genie garage door opener. Also did overall tune-up.

Description of Work: Garage door opener died this week. Had Sears come out and tell me the motor died and it needed to be replaced. Sears price was stupid high so I was just going to get a new opener. Lawrence came out on Saturday and told us that - no - the motor was fine. The only thing that needed to be done was to replace a gear. He did that, cleaned the contacts and lubed the door. Great job!

 + -1 moreMike was prompt the day of giving us an estimate. He took the time to look at broken garage door and gave us several options with different designs and price ranges. The price was competitive with other bids we received. Disappointed that we were not kept informed from the time of ordering the garage door and when it arrived from distributor. I made several follow-up phone calls to check on status of delivery and install date. However, the installation process was a positive experience --prompt, friendly, neat. One installer remarked that he wasn't happy with trim piece (too much gap) and spent extra time to correct it. New garage door looks great and operates flawlessly.
Description of Work: Removed old garage door and replaced with new door and tracks for 2 car garage. Installed safety sensors for existing garage door opener.

Description of Work: Called @ 8am on New Years eve day. Our garage door opener decided to to stop working on one of the coldest days of the year. The old opener was 12+ years old, so we knew it was time for a new one. Mike recommended a 3/4 hp belt driven Chamberlain Liftmaster. Within 3 hrs on the same day, Mike was at our house & had the new opener installed. No muss. no fuss. It is soo quiet, you can barely hear it, plus the new unit has a light w/ a motion detector so that if you go in the garage, even for a second, the light turns on automatically. This is a really nice feature, plus the main pad by the house entry door has a small screen that flashes the time & temp. We feel that Mike sold us a great product at a good price. Other contractors quoted us extra charges for a 2nd remote as well as the keyless entry pad. Overall, the experience was one of the easiest home repairs that we have had done. Thanks Mike!

 + -1 moreThe very knowlegeable expert quickly came the same of day I called. I was expecting an estimate for a large job, but instead he quickly started fixing everything and found several problems with the how the new door was installed by another garage door installer just 2 years ago. He attached the end bearing and center bearing since they were loose, and wound the cables tightly so they will not unwind. Then he pointed out that the garage door tracks were installed wrong and would have to be cut shorter and promised to get an estimate for a much larger job to completely re-install the garage door correctly. I trust that they are able to do the job right, unlike the original installers of the door.
Description of Work: Garage Door needed service because the another garage door installer did not install it correctly. The garage door cables were unwound from the pulley, the bearings were loose, and the door would not open.

Description of Work: My garage door was bent and would not close. I called Innovative and they were extremely professional and responsive. The woman who took my information couldn't have bee more helpful..The technician came out the day after I called to look at the door. I was really expecting to need a new door, but the technician knew exactly how to fix the door. He explained everything to me, and even let me know that the door had been installed incorrectly. He not only fixed the bent door, but also fixed the installation problem! In addition, I bought a garage door opener, which he had available.

He check both garage door openers and all other components very thoroughly and advised about parts that could go bad. He even replaced a capcitor that looked like could fail shortly saving us the trouble of another visit, when he didn't find a new capcitor, he put in an older one but he informed me about it and charged me accordingly. Was very happy with his professionalism and warmth.

Mike was helpful and friendly and the work was completed quickly. The only thing that I would have changed is the timing. I was scheduled for 12:30, but I didn't hear anything until I got a phone call at 1:10 telling me that he would be coming in 20 minutes. I would have been nice to get a phone call at my scheduled time so that I would better know the timing since he was running a little late. Overall, though it was a great experience and I will definately use them again.

Spoke to Mike and he asked me to call him once I was back. Did so and about an hour later he was there. He replaced the spring and lubed the door. The price was better than the other companies I spoke to on the list. I need to get a new door and thinking of using the company.

They were able to schedule a two day turnaround, they were on time, incredibly quick and VERY thourough in the job they did. Not only did they replace the springs, they oiled and checked the door and hinges. The estimate was spot on and considerably less than two other contractors I contacted.

I thought we needed a new garage door opener system (ours is 16 years old), but the tech checked all components and said that while we could, of course, get a new system, it looked like we'd be fine with some simple adjustments. He was very courteous.
