 + -1 moreThe spring broke on our garage door trapping my car inside. I called Innovative and explained this and they were able to send someone over the next morning. Jim arrived and quickly identified the issue and replaced the spring in under an hour. He was very professional and thourough in the work he did. He was also very patient with all of my questions. I asked about the need to replace the spring on the other door and he said he could do it, but based upon a visual insptection, he said that it did not need to be done right now - not all service providers would have given that response.In summary, I was very pleased with the work done and would not hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend Innovative Garage Door Co.
Description of Work: The spring broke on one of our garage doors making it impossible for the door to open. Jim from Innovative Garage came and replaced the spring. He then made the adjustments so the door closed properly and then lubricated the rails and all of the hinges.

 + -1 moreWent to open the garage door on Thursday night and it would move 2" and stop and drop back down. (NOTE: if this happens to you DO NOT put any part of your body under the door, unless you want to lose it.) Had no idea what was wrong with the garage door other than I had cars in the garage that I could not get out and a wife and kids that had places to go! Called a couple of places on Friday first thing in the morning and they couldn't get to me until Saturday, that was not going to work. Called Innovative and they said they could have someone there Friday late afternoon and that there was a coupon available online that I should print and use. The technician came made the repair and was gone in about 1.5hrs. Great service and I was happy that my cars could move freely in and out of the garage with the push of a button again.
Description of Work: Service was great. The technician quick and professional. He explained the problem and gave us the choice did not try to up-sell or sway us for the more expensive service.

 + -1 moreOverall they did great. I would recomment them for service work. They also said they's come back within a year for a free checkup on the doors.
Description of Work: The Innovative Garage Door folks were very nice. We had 2 single garage doors that were about 30 years old and in very bad shape and I saw they had a hard time closing and opening. I called several companies and Innovative was the only company that could come out the same day and look at the issues. Also they tried to suggest what may be the problem which I thought was good. After the review the serviceman explained what was wrong with the doors. We ended up getting 2 single new doors installed. They had to order the doors but within 2 days they were installed by 3 service people. They did great work, were very neat, and explained what I could do to maintain the doors (add oil from time to time, etc.) They installed weather stripping around the new doors and since they finsihed at night, at my request they shined a flashlight around the outside of the doors so I could see inside the garage there was no gaps. We went over them a few times and I saw no issues. The only small issue is that we had garage doors that had a clear glass across the top and inserts that came with the doors were loose. They had to get new inserts about a week later but now the doors look great.

Description of Work: I was having trouble with my garage door opener. Serviceman was at my home within an hour of my call. After looking at the door for a couple of minutes he knew what the problem was and set out to fix it.

 + -1 moreA very nice young man came out and gave me an estimate, he was very knowledgeable and listened to what I wanted. He never tried to talk me into buying anything more expensive which was nice. I had a total of three companies come out and give me estimates. Innovative's was in the middle but I really liked the way they did business and I got a really good feeling from the young man that came out to do the estimate. Their estimate really spelled out everything in black and white so I wasn't left with any questions. They agreed to match the lower estimate and came out three days later and did the work. They did a very professional job and explained everything to me. They did a demonstration of all the safety features on the door and even put my light bulb in the opener for me. I would highly recommend them.

Office called morning of appt to confirm address (shows thoroughness) and called again to advise me when tech would arrive. Tech arrived in branded truck (not just plain old van), w/uniform shirt , which shows these guys are good. Finished job in about 25 min, and recommended some other fixes.
Description of Work: Repaired garage door spring. Spring had split because of age.

 + -1 moreMy garage door spring broke right as we were closing the door for the night. I called the next morning and talked to Margie, who was very friendly and helpful. She gave me an appointment that suited my arrival at the house the same day. Andy and Jim arrived right on time, and started to work on the door right away. They were very nice and very professional. I received a $20 discount for being a member of Angie's, as well as a spring upgrade. They greased the hinges, set the snapped cables back in place, and even set a handle on the door in case power was out and I had to open the door manually - no extra charge! They also have a 24 hours emergency service, always good to know. Will definitely call back again in the future.
Description of Work: I had a broken spring that did not allow me to open the door.

 + -1 moreMy Garage door opener kept closing then opening right back up repeated times. Scott came out and immediately saw that the builder of my 6 year old home had mounted the safety sensors on the track and that because my door and track needed to be oiled it was causing the sensors to shake and malfunction. Scott mounted the sensors with new brackets off the track and tested the wiring to make sure it was functioning properly. He found the original wiring to the sensors which I had moved when painting a couple of years ago had staples through them which were causing shorts in the line. He replaced the wiring and oiled the door and it is quieter and works properly. Scott was extremely helpful, explained everything to me. and affirmed my garage door opener was the right piece of equipment for he job but it needed regular annual maintenance to oil the track and hinges. Which I will be calling Scott and Innovative again next year for an annual maintenance call. Great People and Great Service! Innovative does not talk about service. They actually perform excellent service ! Thanks!

 + -1 moreI had called two other companies to repair my garage door. One company, Told me I needed a whole new door (or at least the top two panels) and wanted to charge me over $1400.00. All I wanted was a repair to some damage done by the opener when the door got stuck. I called Mike at Innovative Garage Door and they came out the next day 9-2-11. They quoted me $180.00 to repair the door and the frame with it. I told them to go ahead with the work. The employee that came out said he would be back because he needed some pieces and had another appointment up the street. He and another gentlemen came back later that day and did the repairs. It appears they had some other issues with the door and it took over three hours of two men's labor. They held to their quote of $180.00. They did an excellent job and were very helpful guys. I would definetely use these people again and will let others know. Gary Behling

 + -1 moreMike promptly gave a quote over the phone, came out to check it out the next day, increased price by $40.00 to compensate for the size difference (he thought I said 8ft.) His pricing was fair. He was very knowledgeable about the colors, advising that the color was really a red brown, not a chocolate brown(needing a Doorlink door, instead of Clopay or CHI). Nice catch Mike!!! Workers came the next day to install-they were hard working and conscientious. They cleaned up after themselves. Mike came at the end to check things out and oil the spring, track and hinges. Only negative is that one worker was smoking in the garage and we asked him to smoke outside, which he did.

 + -1 moreI just purchased a home that still had the original wooden garage door (rotted with broken hardware). Gary (installer) came by to provide an estimate on replacing it. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job understanding my needs and explaining the different options that might work for me. The estimate looked good and after comparing with other estimates (including a chain-store), the lowest cost option as well. Gary and Dan(?) installed the door today. They arrived on time and went straight to work. Afterwards, they gave me maintenance tips (oiling hinges, etc) and cleaned up all the mess and fingerprints on the door. Everything looks and works great!
Description of Work: Install a new 2-car garage door (16'x6'6" size) and all related hardware - springs, rails, etc). Install a new garage door opener. I went with a door with R16 insulation as the garage is below the main floor of the house.

He did a very good job of explaining the options and the pros and cons of each. He was willing to match a prior estimate and gave me what definitely seems to be superior doors. The work was done the next day. They showed up within the window of time given, and finished in less than 4 hours. We love our new doors and appreciate the workmanship and professionalism of this company.

 + -1 moreLast night, as we were preparing to leave, the garage door wouldn't open. Manually we could not get it to budge. I placed a call to the company that last serviced our door and left a message. Unfortunately their outgoing message gave no indication of the time and manner emergency calls are handled. This morning, having not heard from the first company and fearing that it would be Monday before I heard back, I consulted Angie's List and found this company highly rated and located within 5 miles from my home. My 8am call was promptly answered by Mike and Andy was at our house by 9am. He and my husband lifted the door open, freeing our cars. Andy got to work and replaced our springs, He also replaced the end bearings, which had uncharacteristic wear and tear. The whole job was done in less than two hours! I like patronizing local businesses and when the service is excellent, I am happy to help spread the word.

 + -1 moreWhen our garage door opener stopped working, early on Saturday evening, I checked the list for a highly rated local company with 24 hour service. I found Innovative Garage Door and my call was answered right away. Dan and Andy came out within 2 hours (they had another job ahead of us). They knew exactly what the problem was (blown gear) and gave us the option to repair or replace the opener. We opted to repair as they felt we could probably get more "mileage" out of the current opener. They also showed us how to properly lube the parts to prolong the life of the opener. They were quick, polite, friendly and very professional. We can highly recommend this company and would definitely call them again. It was great to NOT have to wait until Monday, in which we would have had to take time off from work for the repair.

 + -1 moreWe had a really really old garage door opener that we thought would have to be replaced because the remotes had both died and we couldn't find replacement parts. I was prepared to have to replace the opener but when Mike came to do the work he told me that he could provide new remotes and make the existing opener work with them. He did that, oiled the track, greased the rail, replaced missing bolts in the door, and adjusted the door. Mike explained how this all worked and why. The old door and opener is now working as well as it can, saving me a lot of money. This was a great solution because our old garage and old door didn't really merit a huge investment. I told Mike we'd call him again when the old garage door opener finally gives up the ghost. It is rare to get anything near this level of service these days!!

 + -1 moreIn September of 2009, Innovative Garage installed a new garage door and door opener for us and many other condo owners at a Downers Grove area condominium. We had problems last fall with our garage door opener working correctly so Mike (owner) replaced the brain in the garage door opener. It has worked well until November of 2010 (some days it would open and other days it would not). Mike came out and replaced the garage door opener at no charge today. Thanks Mike for an outstanding job. I really appreciate that you stand behind the products you sell.
