We woke up Monday morning with no hot water. Our old tank was not functioning and leaking water. We called JML just after 8 AM. They were already on a job in our area and were able to give us an estimate right away and were at our house in about an hour. By around 2 PM, our new water heater was in place. Someone stayed as the tank filled to make sure there were no leaks (there weren't). We had hot water by late afternoon! They were very friendly and professional and cleaned up afterwards.

Thanks to JML, our holidays were warm and cozy for the first time in years. JML were responsive, timely and diligent, working long and uncomplainingly in our 3D (dank, dirty and dismal) basement. They were consistently professional and congenial, and they were even nice to our big, hairy dog. JML, after completion of the job, returned to our home to patiently babysit me through a false alarm. They returned once again to perform some additional work that could have been considered outside the scope of the written contract. On neither occasion did JML levy an additional charge. JML were honorable, which is something I don't get to say much anymore. Their primary commitment was to customer satisfaction, as opposed to being primarily committed to wresting every possible dollar out of their helpless customer. (If it's late November in Chicago and you have no heat, you're certainly at the mercy of the heating guys.) JML were the best contractors we've ever had and, since our house is over a hundred years old, you can bet that we've had quite a few. Because I recently noticed that my original review was somehow lost in transmission and did not post, I have the opportunity to say that our heating system continues to hum along very nicely, and that it worked perfectly throughout last week's "polar outbreak." The house was cost-savingly cool in the lesser and/or rarely used areas, and delightfully warm in the others. If I worked at it I still couldn't come up with a single complaint against JML. tir

I had a previous company come out to clean and inspect my furnaces and central air units. This company found a problem with my upstairs furnace and I wanted a second opinion so I called JML Heating and Cooling. Jon from JML made time for me with short notice and showed up on time, even a little early (which was nice since I still had to go to work that afternoon). He thoroughly diagnosed the problem and even showed me how he knew it actually was the problem (which was not the problem the previous company said it was). Turns out my upstairs thermostat was bad. He installed a new programmable thermostat and gave me basic instruction on how to use it as well as basic troubleshooting for my particular furnace. I highly recommend Jon from JML Heating and Cooling.

Our water heater stopped working, First, Sears came over, thought there was a bird in the pipe and charged us $80 for nothing. I was so impressed with JML! When we first talked on the phone, he knew exactly what the problem was from the brand of the water heater and the symptoms. JML ordered the part and was so quick to come and repair it and he added refrigerant to our air conditioner which is working perfectly now. The $250 seemed so reasonable for fixing two problems, quickly and with knowledge beyond other experiences. Our friends will be calling him soon for a leak, he is our new guy! He seemed to do the job. They came out the night that we call them and that was during the heat weave. He came out when he said he would and he stayed till it was done.

Two younger gentlemen came in a cargo van equipped with a vacuum system. They ran the vacuum throughout the house (raised ranch) and gathered roughly 100 gallons of dust and lint . We had been living in this house but a year and had no way of knowing when the previous maintenance had been performed (probably a long, long time). After vacuuming, the fellows ran a swab with disinfectant through the ducts. They were very thorough and cleaned up after themselves. I must say that they were well represented, friendly and very amiable. I called them back (12/22/2012) to repair a noisy motor in my forced air furnace. John came and inspected the unit and determined what was necessary. He called me the next day to give me an exact quote. We agreed on the time and he arrived within 15 minutes of our appointment. The faulty motor was replaced and the unit was cleaned. Now we can barely hear the furnace from upstairs when it ignites! We also reviewed possible replacement options for the furnace and central air.

John from JML gave us an estimate for replacing our non-working air conditioning unit. I shopped around and JML's was the most reasonable price. John and his assistent scheduled an installation time, showed up with the new, removed and disposed of the old unit, and were very professional (finished within the time the said, cleaned up any mess they made, and were happy to explain what they were doing) about the installation of the new unit.

I spent about $2200 on that work and that included the service, parts and everything. I thought that they were very good. They were pretty responsive and efficient. Overall I think they did a good job and they were conscientious about what they were doing.

Jon is prompt, reliable, stays in communication, and explains everything. Very reasonable and fair.

He's reliable and someone who comes across as honest. He's knowledgeable and knows how to do his work.

Jon showed up at 7:00 am on the dot, exactly 2 days after his initial visit to install my new 2 stage carrier furnace. The price included the materials to raise the unit, the necessary metal work for the ducts, and a new thermostat. The people who installed the first thermostat installed an incorrect one not suited for a 2 stage furnace. He removed and disposed of the old furnace and installed the new one without incident. Jon took the time to walk me through the use of a programmable thermostat and where to place the filters. My basement was left immaculate.

Jon Leonard spent 1 hour examining my furnace and water heater. Most of the time was spent trying to dry out the water heater. He offered me two options replace the circuit board or replace the furnace. I didn't feel pressured to purchase either. He was very patient with my multiple phone calls and questions, and offered me a referral of a current customer. I felt confident with his years of experience and excellent referrals.
