John came out and went over details of what we wanted to have done. Quote came in about 10 days later and had absolutely nothing to do with what we had discussed. Called John on his cell several times to talk about a mis-quote but he never returned my calls until I placed a call to their main office. John then called but we never spoke directly (only vollied through multiple voice mail messages) ... and then he just never called back. To add insult to injury, we received a letter in the mail from "The Team at Choice Cut Landscaping" stating "we hope you are considering this project in the near future and hope that you will consider Choice Cut Landscaping as your landscape contractor."

They were very punctual and professional. They also cleaned up once the job was done. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

After making a positive impression with design ideas, I waited almost two weeks for an estimate and a plan with no response from them. I called back and they apologized for the delay and said they would follow up again, but the same thing repeated itself again. Overall, the owners were very nice, responsive, and apologetic on the phone, but the follow-up from the individual designer and the high price convinced me not to go with them.

Initial meetings with Tanja were good. She spent time to understand my landscaping goals and budget. With that in mind, she shared a layout for our front yard. After comparing multiple layouts and prices, we decided to go with Choice Cut. After signing the contract, they came out within a few days. The plants that they initially brought and planned to install were poor and appeared ready to die. The supervisor on-site agreed to replace the plants with new ones. The next day, they planned to install the largest and most expensive element of my landscaping - a tri-colored beech. It was a big disappointment and not anything like the pictures provided in email. I did not like it, but Tanja continued to push it on me. Reluctantly, Tanja agreed to replace it. After selecting a Japanese maple as my tree, Tanja agreed to match the price quoted by the nursery. After the tree was installed, I received a bill for $75 more than what we agreed to. After contacting Tanja and asking her to fix the bill, she again started to argue with me. Tanja agreed to call me back to resolve the matter and never did. She also agreed to provide pruning instructions for our new plants and never did. Overall landscaping job was good, but my experience with Tanja was poor. After securing the contract, she constantly made me feel as I was very low on her list of priorities. She was always late, took other calls while we met, and continually had to run to other meetings. We are all busy, but we manage our time to keep our paying customers pleased and a reference.

We found their work to be good, but follow-up is poor. Initial sales and design work with Tanja went very well, however, some miscommunication occurred once we got started. The crew arrived unannounced a day early, and two existing plants were mistakenly removed. Choice Cut Landscaping immediately agreed to replace them with new ones. All of the new plant placements were well done. Once the work was completed, we did have a few items that required follow-up; Tanja visited and personally inspected the job, and had her crew out within 3 days to perform some of those items. However, it took over 3 weeks for her crew to return. Also, we have not received planting layouts or maintenance schedules that we requested for the new plants, although we have asked about them multiple times. Most of the work done by Choice Cut was good; however, the follow-up required to complete the job is time consuming and could easily be improved. UPDATE- September 25, 2008: Cindy (co-owner) contacted us last week to resolve any remaining issues. She had heard of our dissatisfaction (through this list) and wanted to correct the situation. We had a telephone discussion after which she suggested that she send Mike out to assess first hand. Mike arrived on time and after walking the property said they would correct all remaining items and dress up the flower beds for any inconvenience. A day later, the yard work was completed and Cindy stopped by to drop off landscape plans and personally assess the work. We are now completely satisfied with the work. The attention we received after Cindy's follow-up was truly an example of good customer service. It shows that Choice Cut is willing to stand behind their work, and is committed to customer satisfaction. Based upon this last experience with Choice Cut Landscaping, we would use them again and recommend their services to others.

Excellent. Tanja's design worked beautifully and fit well with our yard and house. Tanja took suggestions and comments from us and ran with it. Work was also very professional and responsive.

The wall they installed was absolutely beautiful. However their customer service and communication is severely lacking. They ended up cutting into my irrigation hose and I had to pay to have that replaced. Although I called as soon as I realized the hose was broken and flooding the alley, Franco was not helpful in getting those issues resolved. I have records of traded messages on 9/27/07 and 10/5/07, and there were several voice mail messages between those dates. My messages to the Choice Cuts office and to Franco's cell phone included several answers about where the broken part was and to lift the decorative grass to see it (Franco had visited once but not found the hose), but Franco never called me back after he claimed finally to have seen the damage. When I finally reached him on 10/5/07, gave me conflicting information. First, he said the hose wasn't broken, that the problem was a "valve." (There wasn't any valve within 6 feet of the cuts in the hose. Then he said the hose was broken before they installed the wall but had "no idea" why the workmen didn't tell me it was broken when they discovered the problem during installation. Summary: Choice Cuts did a great job with the wall itself, but they failed to take responsibility for their mistakes.

The crew arrived on time, was very courteous, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves. We dealt with Tanja from Choice Cut on our landscape design. She offered a number of great ideas and was a very easy person with whom to work.

We decided to try the sodding on our own, and for the backyard, he actually suggested that it was something easy we could do on our own and save a bunch of money, which we really appreciated.

I’m very happy with the design after some tweaking it’s now to my satisfaction.

They were able to come very quickly. They worked professionally and were knowledgeable in the work that they did. They cleaned up the old bushes and cleaned up all debris.

We have been very pleased with the outcome. The sod is gorgeous and couldn't have been better installed. It was worth every penny. We watered it as they told us to and it has thrived. The grading looks very nice and we're giving it time to make sure over the winter and spring that water flows away from the house properly. Choice Cut was awesome in telling us that if we had any issues with sections of sod or with grading that we should just give them a call and they would address it. The planting area looks very nice although we didn't have it installed until October so we didn't get to enjoy it long before the cold snap. Again, Choice Cut gave us a 1 yr warranty on plants so we feel comfortable following up with them if there are issues later. We think Choice Cut gave us a very fair price for the landscaping (all landscaping is expensive!), fairly negotiated changes from the contract, and worked closely with us to make sure we were happy with the final result.

Overall, the project went well, and we are very satisfied with the end result. While there was some back and forth in the design phase, and they ended up needing to spread the plantings across the yard in a different design than was originally proposed, we are very pleased with our new backyard and look forward to all the shrubs and flowers to bloom. We would recommend Choice Cut.

IN GENERAL, A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE. THEY WERE THE LEAST EXPENSIVE OF THREE ESTIMATES WE RECEIVED. WE AWARDED THEM THE JOB ON A FRIDAY, WORK BEGAN THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY AND WAS COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING DAY. WORKERS WERE CONSIDERATE AND AREA LOOKED GREAT UPON COMPLETION. ONLY COMPLAINT IS WHEN THEY FOUND SOME POISON IVY AND SAID THEY WOULD REMOVE; THEY DIDN'T.

WOULD POSSIBLY CONSIDER THEM IN THE FUTURE, BUT HAVE HIRED ANOTHER COMPANY FOR MY CURRENT NEEDS.

ESTIMATE WAS HIGHER THAN OTHER ESTIMATES I RECEIVED FOR SAME WORK.

THEIR SPRING CLEANING WAS NON EXISTENT. THERE WERE NO WEEDS PULLED, NO EDGING, THEY DID NOT MOW AROUND THE STATE SIGN IN MY YARD. I SPOKE TO THE OWNER ABOUT A VERY LARGE BUSH THAT NEEDED TO BE PRUNED. HE TIED THE TREE WITH THE DEAD PART OF THE BUSH IN IT. I HAD TO UNTIE IT AND DO IT MY SELF. THEY FAILED TO CLEAN UP WHAT THEY CUT AND TRIMMED. THEY NEVER REALLY DID A THOROUGH JOB. I SENT A LETTER TO THE OWNER TO MEET ME AT MY PROPERTY TO DISCUSS THE MATTERS AT HAND AND HE NEVER SHOWED UP AND HAS NEVER BOTHERED TO CONTACT ME SINCE THEN. PRICE PER MONTH, AND THEN RAISED THE PRICE SHORTLY AFTER.

CHOICE CUT WAS QUITE PROMPT IN THEIR CALL BACK AND THE DESIGNER WAS PERSONABLE. THE ACTUAL WORK WAS OUTSTANDING. THE CRAFTSMAN CUTTING AND INSTALLING THE BRICKS DEFINITELY KNOWS HIS WORK. VERY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY.

THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND COMMUNICATED CLEARLY. THE WORK WAS DONE IN AUGUST 2002. THE NEIGHBORS LOVE HOW IT LOOKS.
