Fred was not the first to give me a quote , but he was absolutely the best. Other contractors were just going to remove limbs at my request, but some of the things I wanted to do would not have been good for the health of my trees in the long run. Fred was excellent in educating me on the best way to improve the appearance & safety of the large trees in my yard. He also kindly gave me some valuable information about keeping my other trees healthy. He and his staff did a very nice job.

Fred was quick to set up an appointment with us, and provide us with a proposal within 2 days of the estimate and set up a date within 2 weeks of estimate. Compared to suggested rates online, we were pleased with the quote. They finished the job more quickly than anticipated, and it looks great. On our proposal it said the there were two arborvitae bushes to be removed. There was some confusion between us where these were. It turns out we were talking about different shurbs, and one of them was actually two shrubs really close. Fred and his crew came back and removed the small third bush in the following week. He and his crew were very professional, punctual and knowledgable about trees! I also appreciate that we were able to do all of our communication through email which made it very easy, and the response was always very fast. We definitely recommend, and will be using them again if we have more dead trees or just trimming of branches.

Fred and his crew, which is a family owned business, were excellent! Very professional in all details. Very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of trees. On time and completion of work was done in one day. Excellent clean up. Several of our neighbors saw the work and have also used FJR for their trees.

Fred was great from the start. From estimates to actually doing the work with his guys. They did everything we wanted. They continually checked with us to see if we wanted more trimmed. It was really great to work with Fred and company. Later in the fall I had issues with a relatively new Aristocrat Pear. Fred came out and look at it at no charge. I will always use this company and highly recommend them.

Our experience with Fred Roewer and FJR Tree Service was outstanding from beginning to end! Throughout the entire process Fred was extremely responsive, honest, professional and VERY knowledgeable. First, of the 3 or 4 different tree services that I initially contacted, he was the ONLY one who called me back the same day. All the others either didn't call back at all, or took several days to do so. He came to our house the very next day for the initial assessment and spent almost an hour looking at all the trees on our (sizeable) property. He not only gave us information about all the species/attributes of all the different trees, but gave us the happy news that all of our trees were healthy and did not need any interventions at this point in time (except for the damaged trees that prompted the initial call). We also discussed our plans for replacing the damaged tree and my ideas for adding a specimen tree to the front landscape. He provided a detailed proposal by email for all the work along with a 4 or 5 page suggestion of possible replacement trees and ornamental trees just a few days later. The proposal was clear and listed the price for each aspect of the job separately so we could see exactly what we would be paying for. All of this initial work was ABSOLUTELY FREE. Then being the picky person that I am, it took me quite a while to decide on the individual trees we would be buying. I think I must have exchanged at least 15 to 20 emails with Fred with questions about the different types of trees and their attributes, etc. Fred was very patient with me and usually responded to my emails within the same day but always within 24 hours. Once I had finally decided on the specific trees we were going to use, they were able to schedule a day for the work to be done within just a couple of weeks (during the busy season). When asked if he needed any kind of a deposit on the work, Fred told me that no money would be due until all the work was completed and I was completely satisfied. When the day came for the work to be done, Fred and his crew showed up at exactly the time they said they would. The particular fir tree we had decided on was only available in a larger size than what we had agreed on in the proposal but Fred said that they were not going to charge us for the extra cost since we had already spent more than we had originally wanted to on the specimen Japanese maple that was being planted. Fred, his brother Jesse and the other crew member worked very quickly and had all the work completed within just a few hours! They were very polite and professional. They cleaned up the property spotlessly including blowing all the leaves off the street. There was no damage to the rest of the property at all from the machines except for one small patch of grass less than a square foot in size that was a little ripped up. Once all the work was completed Fred took me around to all the different areas to show me everything that had been done and then reviewed all the instructions for caring for the newly planted trees. In conclusion, the work that was done was excellent and the whole experience was great. I will definitely be using FJR Tree Service for all my future tree care needs and have already been recommending them to anyone I know that needs work done. This is my first experience using a tree service so I don't have any direct knowledge of how their prices compare to the market, but just from my discussions with friends and family it seems that the pricing was very competitive. Great value for excellent service!

After a storm early in September a 60' main branch of a 100+ year old maple tree fell taking the majority of another tree with it when it fell. It was a mess. I checked with Angie's List and found a few tree services in our area. One I called failed to call me back. Another answered right away and told me to "call the office and schedule an appointment". However, the "office" never answered. Then I called FJR and left a message. Fred (the owner of FJR) called me back that same day. I explained the situation and Fred came out the next day to inspect the job. Within 24 hours I had a written bid in my hands. I scheduled the job but at the last minute I had to postpone the job and reschedule. This was no problem for Fred. He happily rescheduled and told me if anything came up to just call. On the morning we had agreed, he and his crew arrived and started to work right on time. They removed all the broken limbs and branches of the maple tree and the large mulberry tree it fell on. Then they removed two large dead elm trees which were 40+ feet and very close to power lines. I had asked Fred to leave some of the chipped mulch from the trees and he was able to leave a very generous supply exactly where I had asked. (It was a very tight fit with his truck but they got it done.) I had also asked to have several of the larger logs saved to use for lumber. The crew stacked five very large logs neatly out of the way until I could contact a saw mill. I was impressed with how well the crew worked together and individually throughout the time they were on the job. Professional, courteous and capable. The equipment and vehicles they used appeared to be very well maintained and certainly equal to the job. After all the cutting and trimming was complete (including some trimming of an apple tree which I requested after they arrived) the entire crew started on the yard with rakes and when they left, it was difficult to identify the area where the trees had fallen. During a couple of conversations, Fred was kind enough to identify some of the other trees on the property. I found him to be quite engaging and willing to share his store of knowledge on trees. A few weeks later I called Fred and asked that his crew come back to cable the maple tree which had previously suffered the loss of a large branch, to grind a couple of stumps and to deliver the logs his crew cut to a local saw mill. A day later I received a written quote by email for the additional services. A couple weeks later they returned and all was completed as before - quickly, efficiently, professionally - and at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for tree service - look no farther. My experience makes me very confident that they will complete any job they accept efficiently, professionally and reasonably. Simply put - Fred "gets it". Thank you Fred for your excellent work.

They arrived at 7am and got right to work. More than met expectations. Cleared everything up nicely. They reviewed the work that they had done and they were gone by 11am. I was trilled with their knowledge and advice going forward. This was an Angie's List referral from my neighbors who found them. In turn now, one of my other neighbors have decided to have them do work for them as well.

Unfortunately, I had to have a beautiful 60 year old ash tree removed due to infestation by the Emerald Ash Borer. I also wanted to have 4 more mature ash trees injected with the hope of saving them from the EAB. I also needed the canopies raised on 7 trees and the stump ground on the big ash. I had several estimates and chose FJR Tree Service because I was very impressed with Fred Roewer, the owner. Fred is very personable, polite and has an excellent work ethic. He takes time to answer your questions and always returns calls and quickly replies to emails. He's also very punctual which is important to me. Fred is a certified arborist and still came in with the best quote for all the work! Many tree service companies only remove trees, but an arborist can save trees, not just chop them down. FJR was also one of the few tree services qualified to do the EAB injections. I knew my 60 yr. old ash tree was beyond saving, but I wanted to give my other 4 ash trees a chance at survival. I needed a service that could do everything and FJR Tree Service fit the bill. On the day of the tree removal, I watched in awe as Fred and his 3 man crew move like a well-oiled machine. They put in a full day and, with the exception of a 30 min. lunch break, I never saw anyone standing around goofing off or on a cell phone....they were in constant motion and perfectly coordinated. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up. I couldn't have been more pleased. I would highly recommend Fred and his team for any tree service needs you might have.

Fred and his crew arrived at the time they said they would and began preparing for the tree removals and trimming. Fred saw a couple of trees that needed some trimming and let me know what he planned to do. He did not charge extra for those trimmings. The crew removed the branches to the street where the shredder was and cleaned up everything when they were finished.

I had gotten three bids for the tree trimming work I needed in my yard, and chose this company based on price, knowledge, and customer service. I received my bid the very next morning, and Fred responded quickly to questions and to set the appointment. The guys who did the work were friendly, and they did a great job. As soon as I am able to budget for the rest of the trimming work I need, I will contact this company again.

The job went wonderfully. The team was prompt the morning of service. They were efficient with the individual facets of the job. The cleanup job after was great. I would recommend and use this company in the future.

Fred was very professional to work with. He and his crew worked very hard to remove a huge cottonwood tree and a big, but smaller ash tree. The location of the trees was not easy, as they were between my house and my neighbor's house, and the power lines from the houses to the street were near the trees. A chipper was on site and the branches were fed into the chipper and then blown into a truck. Only the largest logs were hauled away without being chipped. A plywood path was made over my grass for the machines to get to the trees without hurting the grass. The cottonwood had thrown down it's seeds just before the removal and when the crew was finished, the evidence of the crew having been there was two spots where there were no trees. Any chips that had not made it into the truck, and even the seed droppings had been blown away. I had asked Fred to remove the stumps as well, so all I had to do was add some topsoil and grass seeds over the spots. I have recommended FJR Tree Service to my sister, who was also impressed with Fred when he came to give her an estimate. He and his crew will be doing work on her trees this month.

Mr. Fred Roewer and his crew arrived on time on a day with some rain and mist hanging around. They began to set-up shop to complete the requested work. They removed one large tree, stump and all, and one fallen storm-damaged tree. Many branches were trimmed on several adjoing trees to help clear cable and phone lines and provide a clear area beneath the tree for the swing-set. The crew took about 2 hours from start to finish; clean-up was fantastic, in my opinion. The completed work made the yard look much better. Fred, the owner, was on-sight the whole time. He is a certified tree expert and suggested the use of a plastic chain-like device to help one of my trees grow more naturally and away from my deck railing. I could not have been more satisfied with work.

We got several estimates from tree services and stuck to companies with arborists. We felt FJR provided clear explanations of the health of the large trees on our property. Consultations were similar but FJR, we decided, provided the most balanced and informed estimate. They were professional and courteous. The work looks good and the clean up was excellent.

We called for an estimate and Fred was out to our house the day I contacted him. The estimate was delivered on time and at a very reasonable price. When we decided to go with his company, a contract was sent to us for our signature and date agreed upon. We ran into a small snag due to an illness in the family and Fred worked around our schedule. The trees were removed in accordance with our agreement and at the price quoted. Fred could not have been more helpful in this transaction. Since he also does snow removal, we asked him, on short notice, if he could plow our drive while we were out of town unexpectedly. Again Fred provided service far above and beyond what we expected. Will use him again and certainly recommend him to all our friends and neighbors.

I got estimates from 3 tree services (all listed with A ratings on Angies List). While FJR was not the lowest price they were a close 2nd, however in everthing else in the estimating process they were far superior to the other two services. Fred was a pleasure to work with. He responded the quickest, listened to what I was interested in getting done, offered the most information and options, and was highly professional, leaving me with a far better feeling that they knew what they were doing compared to the others. Fred thoroughly explained the diseased cherry tree and the structural problems of a very large willow. They were able to bump up my service day due to cooperating spring weather and got the job done ahead of schedule. They arrived promptly on schedule and completed all work within the two days as promised. Cleanup was thorough. Minor damage to the lawn but that was anticipated up front based on the particular stump grinder needed for the large tree as explained prior to the work. I was very satisfied with the job, and would definitely use FJR again as well as recommend them to others.

An enjoyable experience overall. We had wanted to prune the trees for aesthetics only and had several estimates from other "tree guys". The other guys were happy to whack away at the trees for up to $1700. Fred was prompt and stated that 2 of our trees were about 80 years old and after the dry summer we had, a severe pruning would set them back and possibly harm them. He took off the branches that were too close to the house and the dead wood. This worked very well.

Great! Fred showed up to give us a quote and was very nice and professional. The only strange thing was that we had to wait a few days for him to send us a quote. That may not be a big deal to some people, but all other quotes we got were done on site while the inspection was being performed. Fred went into great detail about the work that would be done and how it would be done.

Fred and his crew show up on time. They know exactly what they are doing and were very professional. When all was completed I was more than satisfied and have them coming back to remove trees that are dying., I will use FJR for all my tree service needs in the future and recommend them to all my neighbors.

He is prompt, flexible and amazing. I won't use anyone else at this point for tree service. He is extremely knowledgeable about the species of trees and his employees are great. He provides excellent customer service and prices. I am very happy with the service he provided and I plan to use him again in the future.

Yet again an unbelievable job done! I've written a previous review for this service company and I still can't say enough great things about Fred! He's honest, dependable, and I'll never use anyone else for my tree service. Trust me on this people. You won't be disappointed.

I needed to save a sycamore on my property and had two previous arborists come out and take a look. While knowledgeable, they seemed like I was a dime a dozen. I felt as if they were upselling the whole time on services that were not necessary. Fred is the epitome of professional. He was extremely thorough in his assessments and beyond fair in his estimate. He blew the other two companies out of the water. He took the time to explain what was necessary and what was absolutely not advisable. I felt extremely comfortable with him. He showed a real interest in the well being of my trees. I will definitely be using this company for all of my tree care needs. Trust me on this, he's worth the call.
