We were in need of a tree service to remove two dead trees and trim or prune ten other mature trees. Fred, an arborist, came out to look over the situation and gave us recommendations and explained why we needed them. We were well aware of what was needed and wanted and it was nice that there was no high pressure and certainly no pressure to remove any trees (other than the dead ones). In fact, we were all but certain that a couple other trees might need to be taken down. Such was not the case and Fred assured us that pruning was all that was necessary along with cabling one tree that had a second trunk that might become a problem. We received a detailed estimate covering all the work to be done and scheduled the work. Fred and his crew arrived on time and got right to work and performed all the work in a professional, workmanlike manner. Their clean up was outstanding. Literally, they left the lawn cleaner than they found it. The only thing that they didn't do was get down on their hands and knees with tweezers. Seriously! Fred and the entire crew were friendly, capable and very respectful our our property. If you need this service, this is firm to hire!

Fred was terrific! Even before the group of trees could be taken out, we had an emergency with a tree that fell on our house, and Fred came over immediately to handle it! I will definitely call on FJR Trees again!!!

Fred came out and we walked the yard together and discussed what we needed to have done. He is a young arborist who graduated from the Southern Illinois University forestry school. Fred was on time, polite, very knowledgeable, and gave options for different services based on how much we wanted to pay. Our linden tree has large multiple trunks and one of them was leaning towards the house and threatened to come down on the roof some day. Fred gave us the option of using a cable to brace the trunk, or taking it down altogether. He set up an appointment to do the work a few weeks later, after the leaves had all dropped and the branches were easier to see. He brought a crew of 5 and two trucks, including a cherry picker and a wood chipping trailer. The crew arrived on time, were all polite and very respectful of the yard and landscaping. They decided to take out the large trunks they cut down in the backyard by hand rather than using a machine, to help protect the grass and avoid ruts since it had rained hard the previous night. Fred personally supervised his crew and they worked for about 3 hours, cleaned up after themselves and left the yard looking better than it had looked before they arrived; they even raked up the leaves in the front yard. The pruned trees look great -- they didn't just hack off branches like a city crew or ComEd would, but artistically trimmed the trees to retain the proper proportions. They were patient and answered all our questions. We are very pleased with their work and will definitely use them again

Excellent! This is the second time we have used this company. The owner and his staff well exceeded our expectations of knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy. Each time we have used them the owner carefully explained all options available to us and provided very fair and competitive pricing for each option. They arrived as scheduled and completed all work as scheduled. They were highly respectful of our property as well as our neighbors. They did a great job and we already have them on our calendar for upcoming tree trimming needs.

Fred and his crew did a fantastic job for us. They were right on time and promptly removed a dead pear tree from our backyard. They then planted another tree for us. Very professional and courteous. Complete cleanup after the job. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of their services.

Fred and his workers are very professional and do an excellent quality job of trimming trees. They were punctual and arrived on time as agreed. Also because Fred is a Certified Arborist, he recommended that this type of tree be pruned during the winter when it is dormant. They were very meticulous in thinning out the tree and cutting back limbs that were too close to the ground and hanging over neighbors fences. Also they cleaned up all the small twigs and branches. Very thorough and very professional. Will definitely use them for all tree problems in the future.

Once again, we couldn't be more pleased with the work that FJR performed for us. Fred and his crew have been the best tree company we have used over the past several years. We had attempted to save a large Ash tree over the last five years that bordered our property with the neighbors. While the treatment slowed the damage from the Ashborer disease, it was a matter of time before removal was needed. The tree was quite large and required the use of a bucket truck for access. Luckily, the neighbors permitted the use of their drive to access our property where the tree was located. Fred and his team of experts arrived promptly as promised and worked throughout the morning and early afternoon to remove the tree and stump. What amazed me is that there were no breaks or lunches during the entire process. The weather was quite cold on the 13th but did not deter them from doing a thorough removal and cleanup. Upon completion of the Ash removal, they pruned the Oak trees in our frontyard. Again, outstanding work and cleanup. With a desire to replace the Ash with a tree in late spring or early summer, our plans are to utilize FJR to select and plant a tree that is appropriate for the location.

Fred and his staff were fantastic. I am so sorry it took so long to write this review, and I'm not positive about the date, I know it was in the late spring. I had wanted the work done for years and finally decided to have it done. FJR Tree returned my call quickly and Fred came out for an estimate in short order. He gave me an honest assessment of the trees I wanted removed and even ones I didn't. I did not feel rushed or that he was pushing extra work on me - in fact he recommended keeping one of the trees I wanted removed (I removed it anyways). The price we settled on was beyond fair. When the work day came, the FJR crew came out on time and finished the work more quickly than I thought they would. The ground was soggy with spring thaws/rain but despite using some large equipment my yard looked better than it did before they came! Everything was removed and the yard raked, blown, and cleaned. Everyone I talked to since then has been amazed by the price and the quality of work done. I can't thank Fred and his team enough.

It was very easy to schedule the estimate. The girl in the office was very nice and efficient. Received a reminder call the day before the estimate (which was free, and a 1 hour window was given). The owner showed up on time, was very professional, and VERY knowledgeable about the trees. I had asked about pruning a 4th tree, but he was honest and said that it really didn't need it, and showed me a couple of branches that we could take care of ourselves. Work was originally scheduled for November, but they received a cancellation and emailed me asking if I would like them to come the next day. I was not home when they came to do the work, but once I got home, I was AMAZED. My yard looked incredible and I couldn't believe the difference in how well the trees looked. There was no evidence that they had been there... everything was cleaned up very well. They sent me an invoice and I was able to pay online. SO easy. I am very pleased, and will recommend this company to anyone in need of services, and if I am in need of tree trimming in the future, I will give them a call.

FJR is great to work with. Fred, the owner, is very knowlegeable about trees. He is an arborist that graduated from Southern Illinois University. I first contacted him in August and he suggested waiting until the weather was colder and the tress turned dormant. He explained that cutting the trees too soon could cause disease or kill the tree. I contacted other companies as well and they just wanted to come out and immediately do the work without knowing that it could harm the trees. I also had them ground out the stumps They came out and did the work in a few hours and completely cleaned everything up. Everyone was very nice and very professional. I was able to make the payment right on their website which was very convenient. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to service their trees. The cost was very reasonable compared to other estimates I received.

FJR Tree service is very Professional and very Knowledgeable. They arrived on time on the day of the estimate and on the day that they promised to do the work. Fred is very knowledgeable about all the trees and bushes growing in our yard and pointed out a fungus problem on our Hawthorn tree and a service berry bush. He recommended waiting to prune the Hawthorn tree until Winter due to the fungus on it and also it is the best time to trim it. All the co-workers that came were also excellent and did a very thorough job and completed all work as promised. They also cleaned up thoroughly and there were no stray limbs or sticks left in the yard. We had received another estimate for the work which was a little cheaper but the people that came out did not seem as knowledgeable and did not look closely at the trees or bushes. FJR tree service was much more thorough. We will definitely call FJR Tree in the future for an tree service needs.

We were very happy with the service provided and level of professionalism from the consultation to the job completion. Very hard working crew did a great job and cleaned everything up afterwards. Will hire again if and when the need arises.

We were amazed at the quality and speed of this service. Everything was done within 2 hours, all was cleaned up and completed within that time frame. The cost for all they did was very reasonable as well. They answered all questions and concerns with obvious knowledge and detail.

I contacted FJR Tree Service through Angie's List on March 10, 2015. I received a call back from Fred very promptly and he came out to look at the tree that same afternoon. I got an official quote the next morning which was very reasonable. We set a date for today, March 18th. Fred and the crew of 3 were here this morning right on time and got right to work. They got set up and opened a section of fence. They then put protective plywood down on the grass. This large tree was down within 30 minutes. Not a scratch to the deck or yard. They hauled everything away, and they left the yard immaculate! Very professional, neat/clean/friendly workmen. I'm pretty picky - FJR Tree Service could not have done a better job. I highly recommend them.

Fred and his team are top notch. I'd contacted Fred after seeing such positive reviews on Angie's list and I now know why. He came by our house to look at the trees and assess the scope of work we needed done. He promptly sent over a proposal and scheduled the work to be performed. They arrived as scheduled and we again reviewed the scope of work and he took the time to explain what they were going to do and most importantly why. His vast knowledge and expertise with trees is quite evident and was very assuring. They completed the job as detailed and cleaned up all of the debris and left the trees looking great for the coming seasons.

Fred and his team at FJR were very professional and knowledgeable. They did a fantastic job in removing the tree's safely and quickly. They also did a fantastic job on cleanup. The places where the stumps used to be are ready for grass seed and there was not a leaf or branch left over. I am very please with their work and I will use them again.

This provider is a certified Arborist, which is most important in properly trimming trees. We had 7 trees 'crown raised'. Two of the trees also required structural clearance from house. The technicians did not just cut limbs from tree, they meticulously cut for the health of the trees and the look of the trees. The clean-up of limbs, branches and debris was excellent. Technicians were courteous and professional. They arrived on time and completed the contract in an orderly fashion. I would definitely use there services in the future and recommend same.

Fred and his team did an outstanding job. One of the maples required some extra pruning as a neighbor had asked if branches hanging over their pool to be removed. The neighbor didn't even know that the work had been done as there was no sight of any cut branches or leave left behind. In fact, the team even skimmed the top of their pool where some leaves had dropped. As if this wasn't enough, they cleaned off the leaves from other trees on their long drive where no work had been done. The trees look great...the professionalism, knowledge, and work ethics of Fred and his crew are the best we have had had over the years in our dealings with various tree service companies. One last comment that truly says that Fred loves his work as an arborist: the ash tree I mentioned. Since the trimming of the maples, the company treating the ash visited and strongly suggested the ash be trimmed this year. I contacted Fred with the information that the other arborist had shared with me and we have a date set in September to have the ash trimmed. Rather than doubting each other's assessment of when to trim the tree, how refreshing it was to have two arborists work together for the sole purpose of saving the tree. What more can I say other than FJR is fantastic!

FJR does amazing work. Extremely professional, excellent communicators, makes & meets commitments. As an Arborist, Fred is very knowledgeable about trees and made recomendations for what we can do to keep the rest of the trees in our yard healthy. Can't say enough good things about the FJR crew.

It went great. They did a good job. They left the area clean. We've used them before and were always happy with them. They had 4 people and it took about 3 hours. They were very polite. They answered our emails right away.

Is there something higher than an A?? I just can't say enough about Fred and his dream crew! It is miles apart from other tree services. Fred is a certified arborist and really cares about the trees. He has talked me out of many tree services that did not need to be done. The work today was again exceptional. On time, neat and clean, priced below what others are charging, and with respect care and knowledge. Wonderful, wondeerful, wonderful.

All went well. Fred's crew was great. Professional, efficient and organized. They also did a very good clean up job when they finished.
