It went really well. The guys arrived as specified and explained what they would be doing and put drop cloths down to protect our carpet. I was very happy with their work and would use them again.

Used Angie's list $99.00 special energy audit. They recommended that I use foam insulation around the foundation, but as the basement is finished they were unable to provide it. The indicated that I had R14 rating in the attic and would add additional insulation to bring it to R45. They would apply and handle all rebates. Arrived promptly as scheduled and took approximately three hours, cleaned up everything.

I was very pleased with the clear evidence and explanation I received from BEE about the extent to which my home was "leaking" energy. They gave me a quote for insulating the attic, including sealing around all of the ceiling fixtures where I was losing energy into the attic. They also informed me of the incentive program offered by my energy supplier that would cover a good chunk of the cost of the work. I signed up, the work was done in one day. They were hard working and thorough, and they did a great job cleaning up. The lower energy bills should essentially pay for the cost of the work in less than three years. P.S. I noticed after the guys had gone that one of my ceiling vents was protruding just enough to block a ceiling cabinet door from closing. I called and they sent someone out to fix it first thing the next morning. Much appreciated!

They were very professional and it went well! The consultation went well and I would use them again if I needed it. The individual that came out was very good and we were overall happy. They provided a verbal summary of the inspection.

The service went well. They did exactly what the deal stated. The technician was informative and efficient. Scheduling was very easy and they showed up on time.

The estimate process was easy and no pressure from the estimator. I didn't feel like I was being sold services that weren't necessary (which was how i felt during the first estimate). I was not required to pay anything ahead of time. I received an official quote that same night, which I accepted the next day and made an appointment for 11 days later. On the install day, the crew arrived promptly at 8:30am (I was given a window of 8:30 to 9:30). The crew (4 guys) was very friendly and professional. They didn't mind working around my 4 dogs and baby gates. My one and only complaint was that I needed to move everything away from the basement walls, which I wish I knew ahead of time so I didn't have to scramble, but that is a very minor complaint. The crew worked very hard until about 2:30pm. Everything was cleaned up after they were done and they didn't leave any messes. I will hire them back for future work and will recommend them to friends.

Now that it is back to cold temps I can see that none of my issues have been resovled. I had two main areas of concern in my house and I was told that with this insulation that these areas would be better. Both rooms are just as cold as they were last winter. I have yet to see the effectivness of the insulation.

The evaluation was very informative and we were interested in having them implement the proposed recommendations, but we never received follow-up call to get the work scheduled.

My experience using them was fine. They seemed honest and upfront about everything. It was easy to get in touch with them. They were very clean and did not leave a mess behind.

We were happy with the outcome. We noticed immediately that our furnace fan was not running as often, and I waited to write a review to see if our energy bill would decrease. It did, but I can't tell if it's from the insulation or the weather getting better. The attic insulation was great. Some minor issues I find worth mentioning. 1. The invoice did not reflect the big deal we purchased. When I emailed about it, I didn't get a response, so I paid $350 less than the down payment asked for. They call me the next day explaining that the credit was included in the price. That's ok, but they should state that in the invoice. Many people would have an issue with that. 2. Again in the invoice, it stated that the repairs noted in the blower door test would be included in the estimate. Originally, when the estimator came out, we discussed how one portion of the results would be easy for us to do ourselves. But, since it was included in the estimate, I assumed it was going to be repaired. Again, I was wrong. Still, the price was good for what we were doing, so I didn't complain. 3. We added the ceiling repair after getting the initial estimate, and had that done on a separate day. We were told that they would be back to sand and smooth the drywall one more time, and they never came back. I emailed the company, and someone called me saying they were done. Now, I have had a LOT of drywall fixed in our old home, and this was the worst job I have ever seen. Parts of the tape were not even adhered to the drywall! When I complained, they said that they had agreed to only mud one coat, but I distinctly remember talking about sanding and recoating because I had my own dropcloths, and they were boasting that they never need a dropcloth because they mud it very thinly. Nonetheless, the job was not well done, but I'm not one to fight and complain. Not happy about that at all. 4. We never received a statement for the ceiling repair since the estimate and work was done on the same day. But now I have no proof that the work was done by them, or that I paid anything out to them for the ceiling repair. I'm sure if I asked for it, they would send it to me, but eh... I don't care enough to ask. It should just be given. 5. I completely forgot to put in my calendar that they were coming to do the insulation. The workers arrived right on time, and I was a mess. They patiently and courteously waited while I was more presentable to come into my home. I was so grateful that they were so understanding. Overall, I still rated them an "A". It was still a very decent price even after the statement issues were resolved. For clarity, I would suggest to them that they provide a more detailed statement to their customers explaining what is going to be done, and any credits they have applied. The attic insulation work done was fantastic. They were very neat and clean, and were mindful of my kids running around in the background. They cleaned everything up really well. The workers were very professional, and courteous, and I would use them again.

It turned out great. They did the audit and we booked them for additional work after the audit. There were recommendations of whether we should take them up on. They are very flexible on pricing.

Bought the $99 deal for energy audit then decided to go with them on their recommendation to install cellulose insulation in the attic and foam insulation in the crawl space. The problem with my house is that the living room was too cold in the winter time. And we had a rough winter here in the Chicago this winter of 2014 which made it colder. The scheduled day came and there was a delay because one of their crew couldn't make it on time due to a flat tire, but after all the crew members came they began working and everything went well. They also did a good job cleaning up. They did the final blower-door test and when they were done they packed without saying how the test result was, and I had to ask. I can't say that they solve the problem in my living room because it feels the same and still cold. My only main complain is that they should have done the infrared camera after the insulation to see final the reading. They should have also compared the readings between when they did the energy audit and after they did insulation. The only test they did after the insulation was the blower- door test, and like I mentioned I had to asked what the result was. I did ask for them to do a final infrared camera test but they failed to come because of their busy schedule.

They were professional and helpful. The work was done quickly and on the date they provided. Looks like the insulation covers the areas we expected. The spray foam sealed the walls great but was much messier than I thought it would be and should have asked more questions about prep before hand.

The big deal from Building Energy Experts turned out okay. Considering that you can get the same thing through utility companies for 50 bucks I would rate the price a 'C'. Maybe I will use this provider in the future.

Very Responsive And Professional.

They sealed all the areas around the floor Joists that had air coming into house plus sealing all the open basement walls as well as installing a bladder in one of our crawl spaces and sealing those walls. Work was done on time and handled very professionally. House was checked again per energy audit and passed with excellent results. Was able to secure Nicor rebates for this job which really helped as well as a Groupon Rebate for the cost of attic insulation. Have been recommending them to all my neighbors and friends. Excellent company.

He was easy to schedule and prompt. He had very technical equipment and took a very good analysis of our attic energy.

Tony was very polite, professional, and informative during the audit itself and in the email exchanges we had before and after. We probably won't address the audit findings immediately due to other home projects we wish to proceed with. But we would not hesistate to hire Building Energy Experst to perform the work when the timing is right.

He was so busy after we had such a rough winter and it took us about 6 weeks to get an appointment. Everything went great! We haven’t decided if we are going to go forward with the work or not. The cost for the work would be $1,650 including the credit through the deal. The technician was really nice. Through his inspection, we could see where the air was being lost through the specific sockets. I thought he did a really nice job and I would recommend this Big Deal to others.
