These guys were very professional. I've had so many service providers work on my home over the years and these guys are the best. Top notch. After looking at other contractors I am SO HAPPY we went with BEE. The difference in my home is amazing. The savings is great. My Gas bill was reduced by almost 50%. My electric bill has also decreased by at least 35%. The improvements were based on solid science. These are not just some insulation contractors they are truly Building Scientist. If you are looking for the BEST look no further. Building Energy Experts is the real deal. Clean, Courteous, Professional, on time and result oriented. Plus I received. $800.00 from Nicor and ComEd. Also as a Bonus we received and Illinois Home performance Silver certificate from Energy Star! I'm glad I focused more on the many positive review vs the very few negative. I notice most negative review were for people whom didn't have work done or didn't read the contract they signed. These guy are one of a very few contractors in the State that can offer gas and electric company rebates. I did my research and and very happy with the work and results!

The company?s representative recommended that we make our house more energy-efficient by insulating our attic. According to him, the service was supposed to save us about $600-$700 a year in utility bills. After carefully examining the bills I have found no observable difference before and after the service. A couple of minor issues: 1) The workers did not bother to call and tell us that they would be late for the appointment. 2) They also did not bother to clean properly after themselves and left a lot of trash inside our garage.

This was good! They assessed the efficiency of our house by computing the square footage and using a fan machine. They calculated the amount of air that was escaping. Even with the discount, the insulation was still expensive but the energy inspection was worth the cost of the deal. However, we ended up using a different company for the insulation.

We had originally scheduled the work in November 2014 but they realized, as they were preparing the attic, that the house had knob-and-tube wiring. They were not able to continue the work on that day because adding insulation on the old wiring was a fire risk. We subsequently replaced the wiring and Dave and Scott returned to complete the job on March 2. We are highly pleased with the work they performed and we were kept informed every step of the way. We had purchased the $99 for $350 of insulation offer which they accepted with no problem and they even obtained a rebate of $500 towards the work (initially quoted for over $2000) since it was an energy-saving situation. Fabulous all the way and we would recommend them highly.

The inspection was fine, but the quotation was high

The energy audit went fine. I did not hire them to perform the actual insulation work in my house.

The guy that came was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. I was impressed with him which is why I scheduled for the installation. The quote he gave me was a little higher than what I was hoping but they're going to do more than what I quoted from the people. They made me aware of a rebate I could get. I haven't had the actual work done but I'm anticipating a good experience.

Ok until owner had to leave because of a small accident on the job. His workers on the job that were left to finish the job were sloppy.

I was okay. He responded to emails pretty good.

The job went very well. Got their estimate very quickly and scheduled the work easily. The price was very competitive. They handled all of the rebates from Nicor. On the day of installation the crew arrived on time and went about their tasks in a very business like manner. They were very careful to keep my house clean and made sure that the blown-in insulation was confined to my attics. After they were done with their work they cleaned up after themselves - a small amount of materials and insulation primarily outside. And now the best part! They told me that insulating my house could save me money on my energy bill. I had the work done in November and I just received my heating bill for the 30 day period of mid-December to mid-January with the actual meter reading. During that period the average daily temperature this year was three degrees colder than last year (17 degrees versus 20 degrees) and guess what! The amount of energy that I used this year was down almost 44%. I estimate that I saved approximately $54 on this month's Nicor bill. So all in all, I would recommend getting your home re-sealed and re-insulated. And I would definitely recommend Building Energy Experts as a contractor.

It went well, they were very personable. I only had them to do the inspection because to continue on with the insulation was going to be too expensive.

The service was average. They figured out where the energy was leaving and where there were gaps. They only did half the task. They didn’t do the thermal test that they said they would because it was too warm or something. It was a big deal for me because that was exactly what I was looking for to see how the windows were affecting the house. They weren’t able to do that. I wouldn’t recommend it as it was definitely not worth the money. The guy was nice. I had no problem scheduling them to come out. I wasn’t impressed at all. I did get a credit with that for insulation or any other work. But we didn’t get the work done. So it didn’t help us at all. They did what essentially anyone would do if they came to give us an estimate for the work. They were on time and professional. They were really more sales people than experts.

I think it's incredibly sad when a client speaks out the first response is to attack them. I had to change my rating to reflect their response (since I chose not to use the product I can't judge the quality). First things first, they never responded to my email asking how it was all going to work; not in 24 hours; not at all! Secondly, the attic was not soaked, there was some slight moisture that could be seen if you looked at it from the right angle, however, even the gentleman that came with him did not notice the moisture. Also more insulation was a part of their plan so if it was going to "cause huge problems; both to your family's health as well as to the integrity of your homes construction.? why would it be on the work order? I guess that's why I was confused. Also I never tried to shoot the messenger I simply asked the messenger to clarify. Honestly, I would steer clear of this company clearly I'm not the only one they have attempted to belittle and blame to make themselves look better. I certainly hope someone teaches them proper business etiquette and how to take responsibility for their actions, both the positive AND the negative. Sorry but this is not a real positive review. First it took me several weeks of calling to get a response via email on this site, which I should have been looking for but I was not. I was finally able to set up the appointment. Two men came out, they were very nice, professional but when it came time to explain what was going on he was talking out of both sides of his mouth. First he said most homes are letting out too much air or "hyperventilating" and all he would need to do was seal them up and add insulation; easy fix. He then says he can seal a house up to 70% (there was a lot of math involved that I didn't really understand) without any issues and that most of the new homes were very tight. Then he ran the test, did the calculations and tells me my house is at 78% so here I'm thinking that's good, right? Well, not according to the $3050.00 estimate I received. I tried asking how it was all going to work and that I didn't quite understand the justification behind it and he chose to not to respond. I'm one of those people if I can justify the cost I will spend the money but I just didn't understand how it could be so much and I never even got an explanation. Oh I also misread the big deal; the $350 worth of insulation is just a credit if you decided to do the work. Thanks for reading and good luck.

Very clean, quick and effective. My heating bill is clearly lower already because of their work. The furnace doesn't run nearly as often and the inside temperature seems even and comfortable. The 'cold' bedroom isn't cold anymore! Even the basement is warmer because they insulated all of the joists and around the beams along the outside walls of the house. And of course, they were quite professional in their work as I don't see a single shred of evidence that they were here.

Anthony was able to come out pretty quickly after I purchased the Angie's List voucher. He also delivered his estimate very promptly. It was several months before he had an opening to actually do the work, but that wasn't a big deal for us because we had some work to complete ourselves in the attic before the insulation was installed. The team that did the work was great, no complaints, and we only had to pay the portion not covered by energy rebates (Anthony filed for those to go to him directly).

Service went well, crew did what they're suppose to. Had an unauthorized charged on my card but was fixed when I called the provider.

They were courteous, professional and answered all questions. They provided the estimate quickly, the next day.

He arrived on time, performed evaluation of energy loss. I was quite impressed with all he did and considered using him to add insulation to attic. But, in the end decided to go with company who put on new roof.

Ok, except we weren't expecting to have to leave the house for a few hours and when they unloaded their stuff which I presumed was all for my job, they ended up returning about 20 bundles of installation material, could be for next job I suppose but seemed an awful lot to carry just in case!!! All in all guys were friendly although didn't have much to do with them as we were shooed out the door within an hour of them arriving due to the odor from the sealing agent! Seemed professional and cleaned up inside well although when I returned home and they had gone the front pathway had soil which © had been disturbed by their machinery. Also for some strange reason by front door seems a little harder to open then before!!!

Never received proposal. I left a message a few days ago as a reminder but didn't get a response. Moving on to another contractor. This company has already cost me a few valuable weeks and nothing has been accomplished. I'm revising my review to an F based on the Provider's Response. I'm not sure what his response is meant to imply but if he weren't planning on sending a proposal than he should not have agreed to send one. I suspect the real reason I didn't get a proposal because I was unwilling to accept the larger insulation job he tried to sell me. Buyer beware.

Found these guys through a deal on Angie's List and set up an appointment for a blower door test. After the test, Anthony provided great consultation on what type of work was needed and the associated costs and benefits. We decided to do most of the work recommended and asked to have 2 new bath fans installed in addition. BEE was very accommodating and was able to get us a discount through our local energy company Nicor. Installation was smooth and took about a full day, with us having to leave the house for a few hours while they did the 2-part spray foam in the basement. Work was done in April and we saw some benefits in the summer months but the real test will be this winter. In late October, I have already noticed our furnace running less, and our 2-story home is better able to maintain a consistent temperature on the second floor. Expecting about 15% less energy use this winter as a result of the work. Would definitely recommend BEE to anyone interested in improved insulation for home comfort and reduced energy use.

Anthony arrived on time and thoroughly explained what he was going to do. After his testing, he explained verbally followed up by a written assessment where our house was leaking energy. With this write up, we can now plan to improve our insulation.

They were very professional and had a good attitude. Walked through all of the details of the house regarding efficiency and insulation. Made some suggestions and provided a quote with some tax rebate information included.
