Rob was awesome. He's been here a few times and is always great. I don't ever get the feeling he's in a hurry to get thru stuff. He makes sure stuff is where it's supposed to be.

Rob arrived on time, was helpful in his assessment of work to be done, made recommendations and finished in a timely manner. He was also very polite and personable.

Services were done over a year ago, however, I had recent contact with them regarding a new project. I was willing to move on from the previous fiasco of which I have detailed below. After offering to come out for an estimate and setting up a time, I simply received this email message: "Mr. Loepker, Due to past issues I have been instructed to decline coming out to give you an estimate or any future work. Regards" So this is how they treat customers. This is the email I sent to Mr. Handyman April 2014 after they had "completed" work: I am very upset about the work done on my basement. When I saw the good reviews you guys had on Angie's List, I thought I would be on my way to finishing my basement and happy with the results. One of the primary reasons I selected you guys is because I thought you could do the plumbing PLUS drywall installation. I make decent money so I was rather going with the convenience of dealing with one contractor instead of multiple contractors to finish multiple tasks. Instead, I have yet to receive a drywall quote. Regarding the plumbing work, I don't know where to start. I see your slogan is "On time. Done right. Guaranteed." Wow. I find myself learning the plumbing code because of all the mistakes that were made. A job that was suppose to take one day ended up taking three days to complete. Then after all that, I find that the work done doesn't come close to meeting code and you guys weren't even licensed to do the work in the first place, which apparently is a state law. How much should I pay someone for doing illegal work? So, going back to your slogan, this was neither "on time" (it took 3 days instead of 1) nor "done right". The only positive in this whole ordeal was that they agreed to not charge me for all this nonsense.

Our repairman from Mr. Fixit was on time and efficient. He repaired quite a lot of issues in our bathroom that I mentioned above. He could repair electrical as well as plumbing issues all in one visit, plus changed a light bulb that would have been very difficult for us to replace. The only negative to the overall experience was the cost. The company charges by the quarter hour and to me it seemed a bit pricey. They did, however, give us a discount for being Angie's list members and gave us a certificate for another discount on the next visit. We are both living on a fixed income and if we hadn't just received our tax refund it would have been difficult to afford. I am no expert on what plumbers and electricians charge, so what seemed a bit on the high side to me might not seem that way to others. I do know one person who also does handyman repairs for a third of the cost. He was sick, so I couldn't use him this time.

The preparation for this job required three trips by the carpenter (Cass) to take measurements and discuss options. We finally settled on moving the cabinet as the most architecturally appropriate. Once that decision was made we were able to schedule Cass to come out that same week. He spent just about 8 hours in one day performing the work and kept us informed of his progress. He also discussed the one or two problems he encountered and gained our acceptance to his solutions before going forward. We are very pleased with quality of the work and will not hesitate to call on them again.

The contractor was very friendly, prompt, and provided a very professional looking estimate, prepared just as I had requested, which was to separate the demo work from the repair/reinstallation work. Problem was, their quote was VERY expensive. They quoted a combined figure of $2183. I was very surprised. I ultimately found a local handyman closer to home that did the entire job, all by himself, for $550. I was very happy with the local handyman vice Bob Langreder. The numbers speak for themselves. I can?t say anything about this company in terms of quality of work since I never hired them. All I?d recommend is that you get competing price quotes before you decide to do work with Mr. Handymen. You might come out like I did.

I don’t like them and I did not have a good experience with them. They did not come back after doing a floppy job. We also had to pay extra apart from the big deal.

I chose not to hire them because the quote was much, much more expensive than I ever imagined it would be and the estimate did not provide any details to be able to justify or explain the costs. They always answered my questions, but I just never received written documentation of what I would be paying for other than a 1 or 2 line statement. Ex:) I only need one piece of flashing replaced, and they quoted me for all 4 pieces surrounding the door. Those other 3 pieces aren't' damaged, so I just wanted to know why they felt all 4 pieces needed replaced-but I'm not going to waste my time chasing that info. It should have been provided in the 1st estimate since it was additional work. They also added a cost for a sliding bath seat that my grandmother said she never even asked for, and after I reviewed the specs I realized it's free standing and doesn't need to be installed. But, again, there was no detail provided to help me understand why this additional work was added to the estimate.

Excellent work, very professional. Each door was a challenge because of the non-standard sizes. Mr Langreder worked around the problems perfectly. And the porch columns were installed perfectly. Mr. Langreder is an excellent craftsman and perfectionist. I am very pleased with his work and give him the highest rating.

He was very professional and a joy and pleasure to work with from start to finish. He explained the whole process to us and answered all of our questions and concerns.

Initially I wasn't sure all that the project would entail. I had a leaky spigot that i wasn't able to use because when i turned it on the water would gush out of the top. When the technician arrived, he immediately knew the spigot would need to be replaced and he asked where the access point was from inside the house. I have a small crawl space that was created when the house was built onto and the spigot had been installed before they finished the basement. After looking at the situation, the technician told me that when he removed the spigot if it broke the solder, that he would potentially need to tear out some of the drywall in order to complete the job. I was reluctant to have him even start because it sounded like it could end up costing me more than i was wanting to put into the job. He then stated that if he brought another technician out, one of them could stay on the inside of the crawl space and the other could work from the outside and avoid breaking the solder. He quoted me a price of $200. I agreed and we scheduled another time for the team to return. They were able to replace the spigot without incident, however when he gave me the bill, it was $271 instead of the $200 he had mentioned previously. The bill included two technicans for an hour each, as well as the price of the spigot and the $50 service fee. The project only took about 30 minutes to complete. I was a little disappointed with the cost but the professionalism and courtesy of the technicians was great. What i would do differently next time, is ask them to work on another project for the remaining time so i felt like i was getting the full value of what i was paying for. After completing the job, the technicians showed me what had caused the initial issue and advised me on how i can keep it from happening again. I appreciated that very much. I have spoken with Michelle, in their office, on several occasions and she is always very knowledgable and quick to assist however she can. After the service, both she and the owner followed up to ensure I was satisfied. I will definately use this service again.

.Bob, the owner of Mr. Handyman of Metro East, was right on time to estimate the job. When I contracted with them they set a date to try to accomplish the work but could not accomplish on the first visit (had to go higher on the side of the house). During the initial work they discovered additional leaking that would take some equipment he did not bring, So they finished what they could and rescheduled for the next week to complete the job. The office always kept me informed as to times they would arrive, The second visit went very well. The leaks did not go all the way to the top windows. They replaced some damaged plywood backing and corner 2x4, applied Tveck, taped around the windows, replaced the siding, and then moved a downspout (connecting it to a recently installed drain line under a new sidewalk). The next day it rained quite heavily and I got no leaks into the walkout basement. They even made a followup call on Monday to see if I had had any problems.
