My experience with them was very good. They were proactive and went a little bit above what I expected in making things nice. I would recommend them.

Patrick came out to diagnose and discuss what work he would do to fix the problem. He was very knowledgeable about foundations and seepage issues. He helped me figure out the problem with my garden level apartment and talked about how soon he could get the work completed. Since he had to dig up most of the walkout basement concrete, it was important for the timing to coordinate with my concrete guy. Patrick was honest that he didn't do that much concrete but he would repair the downspout that went through the basement walkout concrete area and waterproof that. Xpert is great because they stand 100% behind there work, and offer a transferable lifetime warranty (at no cost). This was a good perk when I sold the property. Xpert was the only company that discussed getting a permit and gave me the option to get one or not (they didn't charge me more for the permit). I had plenty of plumbers and other concrete people to estimate the downspout issue and Xpert was the only vendor to say that I needed a permit (because it touched city sewer through the catch basin).
Description of Work: Water seepage damage along east wall, of garden level apartment in three flat (empty lot next door). Also had a cracked downspout from the roof gutter going through the basement concrete to the catch basin.

Everyone at Xpert was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. Patrick (the owner) came out immediately after my call to look at my basement. (He came on a Sunday!) I had both flooding and seepage in my basement. He explained everything in detail and gave me a price on the spot. It was comparable with other quotes that I had received. They were able to start work in three weeks after I signed the contract - which was a surprise, I expected it to be 4 to 6 weeks, but they fit me in. The crew, led by Miguel, was fantastic. They came back to tweak the system and my basement is dry for the first time in the six years that I've owned my house. Patrick was in constant contact with me throughout the process and offered helpful suggestions. I am very pleased and their work is guaranteed for the life of the house!!!
Description of Work: Installed ejector pit, drain tile system, and battery backup pump in basement. Demoed basement, fixed leaking pipes and broken drain and replaced water line.

After an incredible storm last fall, our entire basement was flooded. We called Xpert and Patrick came out and said we needed a flood control system to hold back the sewer water from the main line. I also told him about a place where I knew water was coming in from a wall. I was told it would be about six weeks until they could start the work. I still had to call after six weeks and check on the status. They installed the flood control system over the course of a week. The crew started work on the foundation crack and were happy when they found the source of the water/crack in the foundation. Unfortunately, they misdiagnosed where the water was coming from and didn't fix the crack. I started getting water again after it rained. I had to call numerous times to see when they would come out and fix it again. They did come out and eventually found the crack. Thankfully, after almost a year, the system and repairs seem to be working.
Description of Work: They installed a flood control system and repaired a foundation crack.

I quoted this work out between 3 contractors and all bids came in fairly close. I hired Xpert after: Meeting with Patrick and I determined that he had a passion for this work. The company checked out with both the BBB and Angie's List. When Patrick quoted me the job, he indicated that it would be a 4-5 week wait (which I erroneously assumed was false - I figured they would come out within 2 weeks of my decision). Just as Patrick promised, 3.5 weeks after I signed the contract, I got a call from Vince to tell me that their crew would start work within the next week. 4 days later, Xpert showed up and started digging out the front yard. All was completed exactly as Patrick described. Crew was courteous, professional, clean, efficient, quick and hardworking. They asked for nothing once they got started (no use of bathroom, water, etc.. they just worked). They knocked out the bulk of the work in two days (July 2 and 3rd) and will come back on Monday to finish the electric for the sump pump. At the end of the 2nd day, they filled in the holes and put the yard back together. They even replaced the some plants they had to dig up in order to get to the foundation of my basement. Yard looks better than when they started. All in all, very good firm and a good experience. Hire Xpert.

The crew arrived on time and were very friendly. There is only access to the sewer line through the basement, which is finished. He warned me that it would be difficult to get the equipment down the small stair case and it did scuff the wall in several places. He encouraged me to get an estimate to install an exterior line to prevent this in the future. Overall, I was satisfied with the work.

Had scheduled several appts with plumbing companies; most failed to keep scheduled appointments for estimates; those who did come gave verbal quotes rather than the requested written estimate. Xpert Flood Control was highly professional from start to finish. The company president, Patrick Martin, came out on a Sunday (since he lived nearby) to go over the flood control system that would be installed and listened to my questions about rerouting the old catch basin and sump pump lines (which were installed incorrectly). He gave me a full brochure, written quote on the spot, and an estimated date for work to start. He left the contract with me to consider (instead of high pressure to commit right away). Once I returned the contract, the company arrived the week they said they would. The workmen were on time everyday, cleaned up each night before leaving, and completed the work in an efficient manner. Sod on front lawn was replaced. Work is guaranteed with annual servicing.
Description of Work: Had two incidents of city sewer system backing up into my basement during heavy rainfall. Xpert Flood Control installed an outside flood control system to prevent sewage backup into basement. They also rodded the drains, rerouted the old catch basin and sump pump ejection into flood control system. Finally, they removed the old manual Bosey valve from my basement and cemented.

We had used Xpert for some repair work last year and were very pleasantly surprised when they called to remind us to have our sewer line power rodded. Because we are an existing customer, they gave us a discount which is very reasonable. Their staff did a great job checking the exterior drains, power rodding the sewer line, and reporting back on what they found.

Xpert's estimate was $1100 more than the company I selected, and it wasn't clear to me that it would cover the same work. Arthur noted the valve was broken, something no one else mentioned and that I ultimately did not have repaired. Arthur indicated that Xpert would not be able to do the work for 2 or 3 months, and so in addition to the estimate, he also passed on my information to another company that could do the work sooner. I chose another company based on time and price.

Art never showed up. I canceled my work for the morning so that I could meet him at my home, as he planned. When I had arranged the meeting, I gave him the information he requested, as he insisted on coming to my home and explaining the "process". I allowed him that and made time for him. When I called him up to find out why he was 15 minutes late, he answered the phone at the office, and told me that he didn't have my number. Of course, he could have just drove by and dropped a note, since I had given him my address. Either way, even if he lost my information, I wouldn't do business with somebody who is so disorganized. I understand that mistakes happen, but he is running a business, and if he asks someone to put off their business plans to meet him, he sure should have his eggs in the right basket. I wouldn't take an excuse for him, and now I have a meeting with one of his competitors.

We interviewed three companies for this job. Xpert's representative was Patrick Martin, president of the company, who met with us on a Sunday. Like the others we interviewed, Xpert had a backlog of work due to a recent rainstorm which had overwhelmed Chicago sewers and could only promise us to start work in 4 to 5 weeks. All three companies we spoke with were very professional. What tipped us to Xpert was its lifetime warranty (apart from the pump) if one has the system cleaned (rodded) every year (for a fixed price of $85/year). The work commenced 30 days after we signed the contract. The people who did the job were very professional, going the extra mile to do the job right (e.g., pulling the electrical connection back to the breaker box rather than tying into a closer circuit). Although a deep pit was dug in the front yard, the workmen were so careful that it is difficult to see where the hole was dug (3 days after completion). The work in the basement was also first class.
Description of Work: Two facets to the project: 1) installed flood control system comprising an exterior vault containing backwater valves to prevent water from the sewer mains entering into the basement, a pump and electrical connection to the house wiring ($5800); and 2) disconnected the house's catch basin and rerouted sunken tile pipe in the basement floor to connect directly to the house's sewer system.

They were very detailed in what was going to happen, and let us know that it would take a month to start the work because they were so busy (lots of floods recently). We did not hear from them for a while, so when we called they said they would be out there the next day - a surprise to us. When they did arrive, they performed all the work outside without needed us to do anything - very self sufficient and non-obtrusive. After installing the system outside, they came back a couple of days later to run the electrical to the house and re-route the down spout. For that they did come inside. Everyone was very polite and professional.
Description of Work: They installed a sewer back-flow prevention systems between my house and the city sewerage system. This is to prevent a flooded basement due to the sewer backing up when there is a heavy rainfall or thunderstorm. They dug a hole in the front yard to house the system, ran electrical from it to the house and re-routed the roof downspout.

Miguel, the supervisor on the job arrived and he was very courteous with me in explaining what needs to be done at my property before starting the job. Miguel consulted with me before he actually carried out the electrical work as well as he involved me in the decision making before he installed the flood control monitoring panel, which is required by the flood control system. It took Miguel and his crew 3 days to install everything from start to finish. On the 3rd day, the city of Chicago's inspector arrived and approved the flood control system. Once that was done, Miguel covered up the manhole and relawn my front yard back to its original condition. Miguel and his crew cleaned up after their work.
Description of Work: Company had to install a flood control system between my existing sewerage system and the public sewerage system. This system is to prevent any backing up of the public sewerage system into my private line when a heavy rainfall or thunderstorm occurs, which results in a basement flood. This flood control system will prevent any future basement floods from occurring.

I was impress with installers (Miguel). Arthur was no nonsense kind of guy. He was good at listening to my concerns and I felt he was honest with me about what I truly needed. I felt he was NOT trying to sell me something I did not need. At this point I am happy with quality of work. I was hoping to save more money then I did. I guess it is better to pay more and be sure that your backup system is reliable and installed by PROS and by reputable company. I won't know the quality of the work till I have a several HARD rain. So I will reserve my final grades till then. The install time was around 1:00 pm. Communication between the main office and me during the install time was poor. I called twice to confirm the true start time. The installers arrived around 3:30pm.
Description of Work: Install a battery backup sumpro and a secondary sump pump. It took several days to get a estimate. This was the week that many basement flooded, so every plumber was VERY busy. Arthur was sale rep that came to my house. He listened to my issue and recommended the SUMPRO. I compared his price to other plumbers on Angie's list. It was in the same range. Miguel installed unit. Miguel was prompt and provided excellent customer service. I thought I could save money by installing battery myself, but after checking around, I could not get a good price on sumppro battery. I found this odd, that everyone was quoting me 1,500 for purching the battery. I suspect that their is price fixing on these batteries.

Xpert came out a diagnosed the problem and water seepage through the foundation in the basement. Suggested wrapping and sealing of corner of foundation to resolve issue. Work was completed properly. However, issue was not identified correctly. Interior city water meter was actually leaking. Neither myself nor Xpert was able to identify this initially. So I purchased services that I did not need. I don't entirely blame Xpert for the mistake, but I am a bit disappointed in their ability to help me.

The original visit went well. Phone calls were returned and the work was completed on time. However, when we began having problems again, it was difficult to get the follow-up work rescheduled. We made several calls, an appointment was scheduled incorrectly and then, they were late on the day they actually came to do the follow-up work. I will say, although I was frustrated with the customer service, they did stand behind their work and not try to charge us for the second visit. The worker who did come was friendly and professional, the challenge was with the scheduler.
Description of Work: Originally, work was performed outside to stop water leakage into basement through a crack. The crew dug up part of our sidewalk and repaired the crack from the outside of the house, then laid new concrete. It did not work and a second visit occurred to repair it from the inside with epoxy. This seems to be working.

Patrick Martin came out on a Sunday to provide estimate which was received the next day. Estimates from other companies were also obtained-these companies had similar recommedations regarding solution to an ongoing seepage problem. The pricing varied by about 10% with XPert being the lowest overall. Their price included the cost of obtaining a permit from the city (for other company's, that was an additional charge). Due to my work schedule, I asked if work could begin the first week of March. Work started on the 5th as agreed upon. Although the work involved breaking through concrete, the mess I expected did not materialize. XPert took steps to protect/minimize impact on the house-for example, they used drop clothes for all stairs and their path. Work crew was very approachable-they answered all questions and explained the process. The job was completed in 6 days-the crew also cleaned up after completion. I highly recommend Xpert-they exceeded my expectations.
Description of Work: Xpert excavated to footer and installed 90' of 4'' drain tile circumferences with washed stone. They also installed Miradrain 6000 from drain tile to foundation brick. This included installing a backup sump pump which I supplied. In addition, XPert installed an outside flood control system which included hand digging an area on my lawn to house the flood control system.

I was very frustrated on the phone. I couldn't believe he wouldn't send someone out. I would never have someone come to do work in my house before they came and looked at the job.
Description of Work: Called to have someone come and give us an estimate on a crack in our basement. The man who answered the phone gave me a price for fixing one crack. When I asked for someone to come out, he only said what the price was and wouldn't send anyone out. I asked what if there are more cracks? Would it be double the price? He answered that it would be less for the 2nd crack, but he still wouldn't send anyone out for an estimate.

The prior year, we had work done by Expert and they guaranteed yearly rodding of our sewer for $135 for every year after (no expiration). This year they came at the end of July and rodded out. This weekend we had the sewer back-up on us. I left a message at night and they called back the next morning and said someone would be there no later than early afternoon. I believe the name of the person was Miguel and he was very polite, rodded out the sewer and I was not charged anything. I even got a phone call from Arthur thanking me for our business, and confirming the no charge.

After an initial scheduling mishap, all went well. The work had to be rescheduled to the next week the first time due to some flooding problems at another site following some very heavy rains in the area. I understood this; but was a little irritated that they did not call and tell me. Instead I had to call them and find out why they didn't come to start working. The following week the workers showed up promptly and did a wonderful job. The salesperson, Arthur was very thorough in explaining the system and answering questions. The workers did a wonderful job of digging a huge hole in my yard without disturbing the overall landscaping very much. They cleaned up everything as promised; replaced the sod neatly, and even swept the walk and repositioned my potted plants. They were very polite and professional. In the end; we were very happy with the quality of the work.
