I got Tony, Steve, Mike, and Marquez for both moving out of my condo and into my house. These guys were fantastic and very quick. They did a wonderful job and everything ran very smoothly. Tony (the owner, different from the guy who helped me move) was spot on with his estimates of how long things would take so that I could budget appropriately. Overall, dealing with Under One Roof was top notch in every way.

EVERYTHING WENT WELL. WE HAD TO MAKE LAST MINUTE MOVING CHANGES AND TONY (OWNER) WAS WONDERFUL GIVING US GREAT SUPPORT AND ADVICE AT THIS VERY STRESSFUL TIME. WE ASKED THAT THE SAME TEAM MOVE US INTO THE CONDO AFTER OUR VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRIO ON PACKING DAY WHEN WE MOVED FROM OAK PARK. EVERYTHING WAS STORED ON THE TRUCK OVERNIGHT FOR DELIVERY THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON AFTER THE CLOSING ON THE CONDO PURCHASE. EVERYTHING CAME TO THE CONDO THE SAME AS IT LEFT OAK PARK. MARQUES WAS THE TEAM LEADER AND HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, CALM AND SUPER EFFICIENT. TONY AND STEVE ( I THINK) WERE GREAT. THEY ALL WORKED QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. AND THEY WERE KIND AND SUPPORTIVE THROUGHHOUT. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN AND ASK FOR THE SAME TEAM. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE DESPITE THE STRESS OF DOWNSIZING FROM BIG HOUSE TO SMALL CONDO. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tony was very helpful and accommodating in scheduling this holiday weekend, morning move out and afternoon move in. Despite not being able to give him a precise time for the move in (we closed on both a sale and purchase in the same day and timing for the move in was contingent on the completion of the purchase), Tony worked with us scheduling his crew. We asked for 3 movers for the move out. Within the first 20 minutes, one of the movers had to be taken to the hospital for a medical issue - not moving related and completely unforseeable. Tony was not able to get a replacement on such short notice (this was 4th of July weekend), but the team of two worked amazingly hard and efficiently. In the end, the move out only took a couple of extra hours, and we paid for only a team of two. The cost of that day ended up being slightly better than expected. We asked for the same team for the move in, and Tony was able to accommodate our request. They worked just as hard moving us in and the truck was unloaded in what seemed like record time. It took us quite awhile to unpack everything. A month later we realized we were missing a box. I called Tony who confirmed that he had it. They found the small box underneath some of their packing materials a few days after we had moved in, and he wasn't certain to whom the box belonged. I was surprised and pleased that they had kept the box under lock and key (though there wasn't really anything valuable in it) for as long as he did. I doubt it takes many people a month to realize they are missing a box. Overall, both Tony and the team of movers handled a difficult move out situation very professionally, took care of our personal belongings overnight (and one box for longer), and completed the job quickly and efficiently. They were careful with our belongings. Everything was moved into our new place completely intact.

The movers were pleasant and professional. They packed well and moved items with care. Of our entire house, only one glass was broken. (In contrast another company did a partial move for our house staging and broke numerous items without letting us know.) Everything was done on time and budget. They saved us a ton by helping move our piano and electronics without using specialty movers; although, they stated they can't always do this. They even gave us pointers on repairing scratches on the hardwood floors (not their fault). Altogether they did a great job and I have no reservations about recommending them or using them again.

I used Under One Roof for a recent move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a single family house. The 3-man crew headed by Mark were great and worked much faster than other movers I have used in the past. Even though they were working extremely fast, nothing was damaged. During the move out of the old place, they explained to my wife and myself things we could do to help them move faster. When we reached the new house, they also explained ways I could help to speed up the move-in process (such as removing the padding myself while they brought in other furniture) so that they could finish the move faster. I'm the type of guy who doesn't min throwing in a bit of elbow grease myself if it will result in a lower overall cost, so I really appreciated that type of advice as to how I could help them to complete the move as quickly as possible. I felt in the end like they were trying to keep costs reasonable, rather than working slowly to run up the charge. Tape and shrink wrap is already included in the hourly rate, so they also didn't wrap things to death in order to rack up additional charges (watch out for this when hiring a place, I'be been burned by tape and shrink wrap fees that total over $100 before). Also, I should note that I received a 3 man crew, and all 3 of the movers worked their butts off. This is NOT the type of mover that says they are sending a 3 man crew, and then you find out the third man is really the truck driver and won't carry a single box (that's also happened to me before, so I make sure to confirm all 3 men will be working to actually move items when I hire a mover now).

They were awesome. They were extremely professional. They moved a piano from a third floor to the ground floor. They were extremely organized with a great price. I recommend them to others. They handled it beautifully.

The movers showed up on time and worked really hard for 8+ hours. At the destination apartment they had to carry boxes up stairs which was not expected. However, they got the entire move done and did an excellent job. I will be moving into my new condo in October, I plan to use them again. When we move to the condo, I plan to use 2 additional workers to help pack.

From start to finish the process was excellent. This was my 3rd move in 8 years within the area and there is no comparison to the service Under One Roof provided. They included all the furniture wrap and wardrobes (per Anige's list coupon) in the price. The movers were in good spirits even though I had some very challenging pieces to move. Their positive attitude made the difficulty of moving go easily for me. When they left my new place, everything was placed where I wanted it and everything was there (not so with a previous mover).

It was a wonderful experience. I felt much better about having a company I knew others had had good experiences with!

I hired Under One Roof after reading the fantastic reviews they were given. My experience, however, was quite different. The first red flag went up when scheduling the date for the move, and I wish I had listened to my gut and gone with another company. During my initial phone call, Tony the owner asked if I could schedule my move one day earlier than I had planned. I agreed to do this, and we scheduled a date. A few days later, concerned that I had heard nothing from him, I called back. Tony seemed not to remember that we had spoken. But this time he confirmed the date, and asked me to email a detailed list of items to be moved. I did this, including number of boxes and dimensions of the larger furniture pieces. On moving day, the 3 man crew arrived on time. They were polite and each one introduced himself to me. However, one man was obviously impaired. During the first hour of the move, he dropped boxes, 2 of which were clearly marked "fragile". He also broke a small kitchen table. I asked that he be removed from the job, which was done. This man then came back into my home demanding to know why I didn't want him to continue with the job. I had to threaten to call police to have him removed. He left the house, but created a disturbance in my neighborhood, then fell asleep in the truck. Tony called me to apologize, and said he would send another mover when the job he was on was finished, and would "make it up to me" on the bill. By the time the replacement arrived, nearly 3 hours had gone by with only 2 men doing a 3 man job. The crew then worked quite efficiently, but the entire move, by that point, was way beyond schedule. Despite the detailed list of items that was asked for and sent, the crew ran out of shrink wrap, they ran out of padding, and they ran out of room in the truck. They offered to make a second trip, but reminded me that I was paying $120 an hour. (I had to go back to the old house the next day, and what was left took 3 SUV trips, each one completely packed.) The load-out at the new home went quite quickly, and in spite of the pouring rain, not one of the crew complained. I know they were eager for the whole thing to be done, but even though they asked where I wanted certain boxes to go, they pretty much just stacked them all in one room. They also dragged some furniture, putting scratches in freshly refinished floors. Tony "made it up to me" on the bill by charging a 2 man rate instead of 3 man for the hours until the replacement mover arrived. He had to be reminded of the broken table, and reluctantly deducted a small additional amount. During unpacking, I discovered several broken items in the boxes that were dropped. Among them, a bowl that belonged to my late mother, which is worthless in dollars and cents, but can not be replaced by any movers insurance. As I went back over the reviews of this company, I can see that experiences such as mine are quite infrequent. But it seems that when they fail, they fail spectacularly, and they are not great at resolving problems when they do arise. I would not use them again, and can not recommend them to others.

Three professional movers showed up at 9 AM on the day of the move. These three individuals were truly outstanding. They were polite, hardworking, and knew exactly how to protect my items to avoid damaging anything. They were friendly and cheerful and worked tirelessly until the move was completed at around 4 PM. The move went much better than I expected. Both my husband and I were extremely impressed with the way they conducted the move -- it was very organized and thorough. I would definitely use them again.

The crew arrived on time and was friendly. Overall it took them about three hours to load up the truck. They also unloaded everything at our new home and placed boxes and furniture items where we asked them to. I was pleased with how friendly they were in general and the work was done fairly efficiently. Having worked with other movers in the past who did a poor job, this was an overall positive experience. The price was right, and I especially like that they do not nickel and dime you for tape or other packaging/moving supplies. And they did not scrimp on the tape or pads even though I was not paying per roll - I was satisfied with the care taken to safeguard the furniture while packing. A few things that could be done better: there were several items that did not make it onto the truck, including a fireplace grate that I specifically pointed out and requested be moved. They seemed ready to leave a whole set of items (a standing lamp and a few odds and ends) that were sitting out in full view with the rest of the boxed things until I noticed and asked that they put those on the truck as well. Not sure why... After 2 hours they began trying to work too fast and would accidentally bump the larger pieces into walls or the tops of doorways. That's understandable, but when we got into our new home I was not pleased with the fact that items were banged against my wood stairs and bumped into the large stairway chandelier. More slow care needed to be taken in this regard. The items taken out of the wardrobe boxes and placed in my closet were strewn all over the place and one set of nice dresses was laying smushed in the bottom of their plastic cover-case. Not good. Final verdict: this is a good company with reasonable prices but you need to plan to keep a sharp eye on things to avoid items being left behind and prevent the crew's haste from damaging things.

The men arrived on time and went right to work. The team leader, Mike, was efficient and handled everything professionally. They padded, plastic-wrapped and taped most of the furniture. It took them many trips up and down in the freight elevator to get everything out of the condo and into the truck. Then they had to drive nearly 20 miles in Chicago rush-hour traffic and unload everything into a small storage unit... in the rain. All of us just wanted to be done and go home and the guys made that happen as quickly as possible. The only reason I gave them less than an "A" for professionalism is because there was one crew member who, though basically a nice guy and hard worker, was a bit too chatty. I wouldn't have minded except that he made a few inappropriate remarks, including some that could be construed as trolling for tips. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

To sum it up in one word.... OUTSTANDING!! We hired a team of five to move our furniture between two locations in Lincoln Park. Our old place was a four story townhome, with some heavy pieces on the upper levels. These guys (Joe, Tucker, and the three Mike's) never complained, never slowed down. They were very professional, wrapped all the furniture in padding, were very careful to avoid hitting walls, etc. Even with some of the more challenging pieces, they maintained a can-do attitude. As Joe put it, "they have an uncanny chameleon-like ability to adapt to any situation." These guys worked hard and straight through, completing the move in less time than we expected. Worth every penny, these guys will definitely get my business should we move again.

The overall experience went very well. Three guys showed up with a truck, as promised, and were actually able to come slighly prior to the scheduled window of time, which was great. All three guys were personable, professional, and began work immediately. Everything was packed up and the necessary odd-size or oversized items shrink-wrapped and out the door within 1 hour 45 minutes. At the new building, the security guard (required by my building's association) did not show up until about 30 minutes after arriving, so the guys showed great patience until the security guard finally arrived. Ultimately, I was not charged for the 30 minutes we had to wait. Everything made it and there was no damage. As the items came into the unit, I was asked where everything should go. The guys also assembled a couple of things for me that I had disassembled myself in the old unit. It took about 2 hours to get everything back into the unit. All and all, a very smooth and efficient experience.

This was my second time in 18 months using Under One Roof, and I was very pleased again. Tony responded quickly to my request for an estimate, and was able to schedule my move with a week's notice. The crew - Jose (leader), Joe and Steve - were wonderful. Due to a scheduling conflict with a furniture delivery at the same time as my move, I had to leave the crew to manage the move-out. They were professional, polite and easy to work with, and were very careful with all of my belongings. It was also very helpful to have the (free) use of the wardrobe boxes. Michelle in the office also responded quickly to my request for an insurance certificate (as required by my condo building). The price was right on target with the estimate, and I appreciated that Under One Roof builds supplies costs (tape/plastic wrap) into the hourly rate, so that customers are not dinged with a big supplies bill at the end. I am happy to recommend this company.

We used this company based on the Angie's List reviews and rates. The whole experience went very well. We scheduled the move on a few days notice and they were able to accommodate an earlier time than their usual start time. We needed them to move an antique dining room set of a dining room table, six chairs, buffet, and china cabinet with glass doors from a first floor unit to a second floor in a walk-up condo building. They moved everything quickly and with great care. There was no damage from the move, no scraps in the hallways, on the floors, or the furniture. The rates were reasonable, and, as with many moving company, they charge a travel fee. They require a two-hour minimum charge which wasn't cost effective for us because it only took them about 45 minutes to move everything - the movers were very nice and offered several times to move something else because we had paid for the time but we didn't have anything else that needed to be moved. We will definitely use their services again.

This was my 2nd time using Under One Roof. They were so excellent the first time (8 years ago) that I just did not feel right using any one else, so I tracked down their number again, and I am so grateful I did. I have very valuable and heavy antique furniture that I was worried about, and once again, they took excellent care with it. They arrived exactly on time (to the minute!) and worked quickly but carefully. The price was extremely fair, and they even provided free wardrobe boxes. I honestly cannot imagine ever using another company, especially when I consider all of the horrific experiences my friends have endured with other moving companies (case in point - my tenant's movers were 8 hours late! and she tried recommending them to me. Thank god I trusted my gut and stuck with Under One Roof!). Moving is definitely one of life's most stressful experiences, and these guys made it so much more bearable. Perfection. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be using them for all of my future moves.

In June, I was 8 months pregnant and needed to move our guestroom furniture to our storage unit to make room for the baby. We had considered renting a truck and having my husband and a few friends move the furniture, but as we got closer and closer to needing to get this job done, that started sounding like a bad idea. We decided that whatever the cost, hiring a mover would be worth it. They could do the job much faster and without all the stress that moving everything ourselves would have caused. I called a moving company that I had used before for a very small job, and they immediately rejected my request due to June being a busy time of the year for moving. I called "Under One Roof" because I discovered that their office is actually located inside our storage facility's building (Riverview Storage on Western Ave., just north of Diversey), and this storage facility is less than a mile from our home. They were very polite and responsive, and after exchanging a few phone calls we arranged a date and time that would work. Two movers arrived, wrapped our furniture and mirror carefully (I had already bagged our mattress and box spring myself so that they would be carefully preserved while in storage). The hardest part of the move came when they arrived at my storage unit and had to work hard at arranging and rearranging everything to fit just perfectly in our 6x9 unit. I requested that they arrange everything so that my clothing rack could remain in the front where it is easily accessible. This whole process made them worth their weight in gold! They were so helpful and so willing to work at squeezing everything in just the way I wanted it, which really turned out to be hard work. I was so grateful for their help, especially because it was a hot June day and I was feeling so very large and exhausted! I will most definitely hire "Under One Roof" again for a small or large move, or maybe just to help me unpack some things from storage since their office door is across the hall from my storage unit!

7 Men showed up for the packing and the same seven men returned the next day for the loading and unloading. Boxes had been labeled as well as an outsider might label them and all were placed in the "best guess" room in the new house. The men were hard workers and seemed to take pride in that work. All were respectful, kind, professional and VERY eager to please me as they went about their tasks. My only advice to other customers is that they get an estimate of costs - which are based on boxes packed and hours expended - on site with some sort of guaranteed maximum cost. I found out as the men were finished their excellent work that the estimated cost was significantly higher than the estimate.

August move was the second time I used Under One Roof. First time was in April 2012 to move furniture to storage. Both experiences with this moving company have been great...I didn't have any problems..They were on time and didn't waste time doing the job...they carefully prepared my furniture for the move and were just all around great. I have recommended them to friends and associates,

Everything went as expected from the quote, responding to queries by email, confirming, showing up on the day, and performing the move. The crew were pleasant and professional. They were careful with my belongings and kept track of which items went where. The estimate was correct as promised. I would use them again for a move to Wisconsin, but they don't do interstate moves.

Under One Roof helped me move from PODS storage in Bensenville to an apartment in Logan Square. Tony, the owner, was very accommodating on scheduling, fitting it into my schedule. And the price was incredibly fair. Robert and Joe were the utmost professionals: on-time, courteous, efficient. They loaded up the truck so well that I wish they were the ones that had loaded the POD. Unloading was a breeze, again they were quick, careful and efficient. I would use them again in a second.

Dorsey, Rob & Jon's crew is amazing. We moved with them at the end of the month, which I know can be a crazy time, and they were fabulous. These guys work so fast, and with such care, that they literally work up a sweat... no less than 110% was given at all times, I don't know how they did it. They packed, moved, and coordinated with what seemed like ease, even though I know it was a tough job. We recently had to hire another moving company (because we tried to book Under One Roof too late), and have been really disappointed by the other guys, because we were so spoiled by this crew. Thanks guys.

These guys were great from start to finish. When I first called to inquire about price, services, etc. everyone was very helpful. The day of the move, Tony from the dispatch called to keep me informed of where the movers were and when I could expect them. When Joe and his team arrived, they were AWESOME! First of all they were very friendly and pleasant to be around. It was clear that they took their job seriously and took extra speacial care with my things. I have a lot of glass lamps and tables as well as mirrors and many breakable things. They made sure that everything was wrapped and protected for the move so that nothing was broken. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast they worked. It was amazing at how efficient the three of them were. I would DEFINITELY use them again and I would tell anyone who is moving to call them. The price was very reasonable and the service excellent! It was a wonderful experience overall. Thanks, guys!!!
