Nice people, they were careful with the furniture, on time, and within the quote/budget. We would use them again.

We hired this company based on price and availability. They generally seem to have good reviews here, but there are a few bad ones, and my experience aligns more with the bad ones. The movers arrived at noon as was specified. We showed them around and told them that everything in the apartment and the storage unit downstairs needed to be moved. I had previously (twice) sent the moving company a very detailed list of all of our belongings that our cross-country movers from a year ago had provided. It showed number of boxes, weight and listed large items. When they arrived, one of the movers told my husband "If you take care of us with a tip, we'll take care of your stuff", which felt a bit like blackmail. We planned to tip our movers, but being threatened with it felt unfair. The four movers got to work and we got out of their way to meet them at our new location. Hours went by. My husband called the company and was told "Well, I don't really know where they are because I can't get a hold of them." That was not reassuring at all. Then I called and was told "They probably stopped for some food", even though we told them we had food waiting for them. Finally, five and a half hours later, the truck arrived at 5:30 pm. (We were being charged by the hour.) One of the guys seemed incapable of doing the job, so I helped him put the bed back together because he said "beds are confusing". When I was near him I noticed he smelled like alcohol. I told the owner this when I spoke with her later. Our final bill was pretty outrageous. $1275 for an in-town move with four guys (which should've gone faster with so many of them). I really wished we'd stayed at the apartment to monitor what they were doing and why it took 5.5 hours to load up and drive a half hour north. When we got back to the apartment to do a walkthrough, there was an entire living room full of items left! They said they had gotten "95% of the stuff". Well, that doesn't help me much, because we don't own a car, had to be out of the apartment, and that's WHY WE HIRED MOVERS - to move all of our stuff as agreed upon. I called the owner and she said they'd fix it, which is the only reason they're not getting a complete F for this move. They came back three days later in a UHaul van and moved the rest of our belongings. We're lucky we had a few days left on the lease or would've really been in a bind. The worst part about all of this, other than not moving all of our items was that a) one of the guys seemed drunk and b) when I went back to our apartment, the three beers we had sitting in the fridge were gone! The movers had drank them and wrapped the cans up in a garbage bag and placed into our kitchen garbage can. The garbage can had been empty (so that they could MOVE it), and neither my husband or I had drank the beers, nor thrown them away (we recycle). No one else had been in our locked apartment. To be dumb enough to drink on the job is one thing, but to drink OUR beers and put them in our garbage can is another level of stupidity. While none of our goods were damaged, I wouldn't trust this company with being a good price or with being professional. After writing this review, the manager called my husband to complain about my review, which I think was incredibly fair and factual. It was odd that they didn't call the number on file (me), but rather my husband's number, to basically circumvent talking with me.

I called on approx. 8/5 to schedule a quote for moving our 3-bedroom house. Troy called me back. I was baffled by our conversation -- he seemed to be calling from a mobile phone while doing something else, very impatient. He was also brusque and condescending. Would laugh in a bizarre way if I answered his question in the wrong way. Couldn't figure out why I said I wasn't in a hurry to move but wanted him to come for an estimate that week (umm -- to make sure I get on the schedule for my move date?) He wouldn't book an estimate visit on that call, and by the time he called me back a couple of days later, I'd already booked with a moving company whose representative didn't talk to me as if I had no idea what I needed. I've moved seven times in the last 13 years, in and out of various household sizes, with three different moving companies. I know what I'm doing by now.

Tony and his crew were wonderful. We have several antique pieces, and they took extra care to make sure that they arrived, undamaged. In fact, nothing was broken, scared or torn. They were very responsive to our requests. They made the move as pleasant as a move can be.

Well below expectation and failed to live up to other reviews on Angie's list. They showed up 45 minutes late. Chipped the finish on one of the bookcases and did not point it out. Did not have tools to unscrew 4 inch chair legs. They found it necessary to enter other rooms in our home even though there was no need.. When unloading In an elevator building they did not have a large box on rollers to hold some unboxed items. They carried items individually which increased the time/price. They seemingly were 'lost' for 30 minutes. And upon completion I offered each a tip. One mover said it was not enough. After all the positive recommendations I am really disappointed and felt I was taken advantage of. I spoke with a representative who offered an explanation......no apology or adjustment.

Scheduling: In a hurry at the end of July to schedule packing and moving. Under One Roof worked out well for us. Estimating: I was taken aback to have to estimate the # of boxes needed myself, but understood this was likely due to the tight time frame. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SCHEDULING AN IN-HOME ESTIMATE. Packing & Moving: Turns out we had twice as much stuff as I thought: not enough boxes or truck space. Movers realized this right away and devised a plan w/ scheduler to pack & move half the home on "packing" day, finish the rest on "moving" day. Crew of 4 worked efficiently & quickly in our untidy, disorganized home. When they packed the last item in the second day, the truck was filled to capacity. They were cheerful, professional, & worked well as a team. Unloading was smooth. Again, crew was fast and strong. Larry, Mike, Clarence, and Steve are amazing!

I called Under One Roof to get a price quote on a move. They answered right away. Instead of discussing the details of the move and what I owned to get a quote, they told me to e-mail them a list. I did exactly that, and they never contacted me back with a quote. I obviously won't be using their services.

The move went very well. Both John and Larry were great. Very punctual and willing to move furniture, even trying several options trying to get a large piece between narrow doors. They worked quickly and took no breaks. Very adjustable (the truck couldn't get into our alley due to low hanging wires, so they had to cart the contents back and forth between the street and the garage). Both of the workers were very pleasant. Tony was also very easy to reach and monitored the operation before the move and made sure that I hooked up with the crew. Excellent.

Steve, John and Mark were absolutely amazing! They moved me from a second floor (walk up) one bedroom apartment in Chicago to a second floor (walk up) one bedroom apartment in Lombard on June 7th. The guys were punctual and took great care to wrap all of my items. I identified the boxes that had fragile items in it and the guys told me they treated all boxes with care, which they did! I walked them through the items that were going to be moved and they got to work right away and worked non-stop the entire time. I was also glad that there were absolutely no hidden fees, the tape and wrap was all included. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends and family and will not hesitate to use them again the next time I move!

There was some damage during the first move but Tony was so responsive and took care of the damages promptly I decided to use them again. I had a great crew that was very efficient. They were not only careful with my stuff but were careful not to scrape walls when moving in/out. I couldn't have been happier. I was willing to pay a little extra because I lived further from their base site.

Marquez and his crew arrived punctually, and couldn't have been more professional. They were very competent and efficient and used great care with all my items. In addition, this was a very pleasant group of men, who went out of their way to accommodate my needs. I would definitely utilize this group again and have successfully recommended them to a friend, who is equally pleased with their work.

This moving company is highly recommended. Tony was very good a communicating with us and dealing with our many changes in setting up the move. The three movers that did the work arrived promptly, worked quickly but cautiously, wrapped and packed all furniture to prevent damage and they were courteous as well. They took care to protect wall and banisters. They willingly moved and helped place items and did not mind changes. I would use this moving company again and recommend them without hesitation.

They were on time, courteous, efficient, quick and capable. They moved my furniture and belongings, loading the truck, arriving to the destination in a timely fashion and putting everything in place, being very careful that I was satisfied with how things were placed. The price was most reasonable. I highly recommend Under One Roof movers!

First of all, I have to say that I had TONS of household items to move: a 3-bedroom house plus basement with furniture, boxes, etc. Mike, Billy, Larry & Clarence were scheduled to arrive at 10 am but they arrived at 9 am which was fine with me (they called and let me know this). From the time they got there, these 4 men worked their collective butts off hauling my stuff. They had to navigate many stairs at both houses to deliver my furniture. They shrink-wrapped all of my furniture and it all was delivered to my new house without any damage. This was especially important to me because I have a few pieces of sentimental value. Mike, Billy, Larry & Clarence were all very polite and professional during the entire time and were never rude, short or seemed irritated. The only problem I had which was not the fault of these nice young men was that I was promised 15 free boxes and I didn't get those, which would have helped my overall move. However, this problem aside, Under One Roof was great!

Moved all our furniture, boxes, yard furniture, etc. Arrived on time, very efficient and impressive. Very professional, extremely courteous and helpful. Our movers (Billy, John, Mike and Larry) were a great team, working very well together. They were so fast! There were no delays or mishaps and completed our move in less time than originally anticipated. Everything was padded and/or shrink wrapped (with no extra charge for materials used which was another bonus). All items arrived safe and sound -- nothing damaged or broken! I would use this company again (would even request the same team). I will recommend them to anyone I know that will be moving. Total cost was less than originally quoted. Moving is a lot of work and exhausting but this company and team made it a much better experience!

Our condo association failed to open the moving gate for us. This meant that the moving truck was blocking the entrance for my neighbors, so the movers had to move the truck often. Once they realized that it was slowing them down significantly, they suggested that I hire another one of their colleagues to help speed up the move. I ended up paying for an additional person an hour, but I think that it was less money in the long run, because it was likely done in fewer hours. The moral of the story is that they saw a problem, the closed gate, and solved it, by calling in another mover. They also were very hard workers. No breaks for them. One of the workers focused on taking apart the big pieces of furniture, and he put them back together at the new house. It was done very well. At the new house, I was insistent that they didn't wear their shoes on the new carpet in the basement and they accommodated that request. Overall, we were very pleased with our decision to hire them.

Went very well. The dining room table was very complicated. They wrapped all furniture carefully. Very professional. The only issue was that they arrived later than the time I was told they would arrive. Would definitely use them again.

Excellent! We have used under one roof now twice and would do it again in a heartbeat. They are not only fast, professional but also incredibly careful with the furniture and great to work with. LOVE the service. They are bit the cheapest but well worth it!

For the price, I was pleased with the service. Not white glove or anything, but cheaper than many other movers and the movers were very friendly and accommodating.

They called ahead to let me know exactly when they were going to be there, which was great and they showed up on time. There were 3 movers ? which was a very good number for the size of the apartment and the amount of stuff we have. They started out with a bang, and I thought for sure that it could be done in 3 hours or less. Unfortunately, things slowed down as they got farther along. I appreciated some of the slowdown, as they took time to wrap and make sure everything was well packed and wouldn?t fall down or apart. However, some of the slowdown was just general fatigue ? I think they shouldn?t have started so quickly! Overall they did the whole move in about 4.5 hours ? which was pretty great, and right about what I was expecting. As far as the move goes, nothing was broken, and everything got into my new place intact and in a most efficient manner. They offered to set up the beds and other things, but I decided to do that work myself to save a bit of money. Overall I thought it was a little bit expensive, but to be honest it was probably worth it. The crew was a little rough around the edges, but they were polite, professional and worked extremely diligently throughout the afternoon. I?d recommend Under One Roof for another move

Excellent. The crew was hard-working and careful with all our stuff. They did a great job not scratching up floors or walls both on the way out of our condo and on the way in to our new house. The guys were also just all-around nice guys. I would definitely hire them again, but hopefully our family will never move again.

Guys worked hard. Very professional. Priced well. No above and beyond effort (ie didn't replace the window they had to take out and did not make any effort to get an oversized dresser up the stairs).

Excellent service. Everything went well. Their pricing is very competitive and they did and awesome job. They were professional and courteous and were very careful with everything as well. The morning of the move they called me to tell me that the driver for my truck was unavailable due to a family emergency. I explained to the company that I was on a deadline and could not reschedule. Since the driver was unavailable, the owner of the company (Tony) drove the truck himself. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a superior moving experience at a great price.

Excellent. Three movers wrapped and moved all the furniture, boxes, clothes, etc. to the new apartment. They arrived on time, worked quickly and were finished in about three hours. They were very professional and worked extremely efficiently. We were very happy with the move and would definitely use Under One Roof again.
